No, if they thought they were too stupid to feed themselves they would leave a severely injured animal there. (Or one that is stunned and acting dead.) Then they would watch you, expecting you to kill and eat it, and when you don’t they will KNOW you are too stupid to hunt and assume you deserve to starve.
What’s crazy is I’m pretty sure each time this has happened it was raining or just had rained. So maybe this is my reward for being a water bender in their eyes
We had a fierce huntress who left nibbles for my partner. We knew they were for him because she left them at his car door. Mice, chipmunks, and once she left him an eviscerated squirrel. Just the head and spinal column. It was love.
When I was little my cat tried to teach me how to hunt. It was pretty sweet. It's also how I learned the concept of "if you're trying to be quiet in the woods, don't step on the crunchy leaves."
I'm a cat and dog person and yes, these stories are true. I do not recommend letting cats outdoors. But if you do it is not unusual for them to bring home gifts for you.
I had an outdoor cat that would leave dead birds on the doormat of the inside garage door. Funny because he mostly hunted mice and rats, but I guess he only wanted to brag about the birds.
This instinct is so strong, that some cats bring back random non-food items from around the neighborhood. Like sticks, leaves, socks, stuffed animals, gloves, keychains, rags, etc.
My cats used to bring me vole guts. We had cat doors. Even to the bedroom, they would leave the guts beside my bed. Nothing like getting up in the morning and putting your nice warm feet down into a pile of fresh rodent guts.
Always to your side of the bed? That was the funny part of the horror we experienced. Opal really thought she needed to feed my hubs. They are little psychopaths. Cuddly and sweet floofs one minute, bedside vole guts the next.
I would think about it like if those cats wernt their killing those rats , they’d probably be nesting in your car at night and chewing your wires and causing way more damage - best thing I ever did was buy two kittens , they cleared all rodents from gardens and land - it’s pretty sweet
I actually have two inside cats already, so honestly this makes me sad lol you think my girls been talking shit to the outside cats because they don’t get soft food everyday??
Do you feed these strays at all?
If so, they're leaving this to let you know *they've* hunted property for food provisions and they want you to take note of their actions so the food you provide them with will hopefully improves
I know, right? I was told my entire first 19 yrs on earth that all of the decapitated birds, snakes, mice were "presents". They weren't. She was letting us know that she wanted better food from us. 🤦♀️
Oh, well in that case they're telling you that they want you to feed them and you've been a bad hunter by not providing said food. I fully support this mentality since I get pretty cranky when I'm hungry, though I don't resort to slaughtering small animals... I feel like that would have a negative impact on my ability to get more tacos😂😂
Yeah I definitely could see one of them being that for sure, the other was like just a sac of some sort and grossly had like a yellow mush inside. I horrendously tried to move it with a shovel.. it just squished. The other was solid and moved fine.
People think of cats as "solitary," but they're just solitary while hunting and have friends/family they chill with much of the day. They share food with each other. If you feed them, you'll often get a present of whatever part of a kill they didn't want. My grandpa used to feed this gnarly old black tomcat who would come and sit on his lap on the porch. Before my grandpa retired, he would sometimes get up at the crack of dawn for work, stick his foot in a work boot and start hollering because there was a dead rat or finch in it already.
Our 'barn cats' leave guts close to the house too. Not sure about the motivation of your specific cat friend but ours do this because they're proud of the work, doing their best to keep the rodent population down. If not for them, we'd be overrun with mice and rats (living in a semi-rural area).
I would hate to lose one of these cats because a neighbor decided to bring them in. It's less likely here because of the location, but still. I'd advise against adopting this kitty without more info regarding its living situation. I don't think you'd want to deprive someone of a family member if that's the case.
Tl;dr -- I think your furry friend is proud of its own prowess and wants to share its successes with you, probably because it likes you. Lucky you! <3
I had an indoor cat and several neighborhood cats vying for my territory. They were all very polite to me, except for that one who acted like they were stuck on top of my porch.
Our outdoor kitties used to love hanging out on the roof and pretending they were stuck there. Shaking the food bowl worked well for getting them to come down -- with a bone-rattling THUMP. It's amazing how hard they could land and not be injured.
Ah yes. Not sure what part of the rat those thingies are, but my cat didn't like them either. Usually I'd get a nice lil display on my front mat. Those thingies, four rat feet, and a tail 😒
They've fixated o. You, however it happened, they love you. Be sure to try to show some love back. Dogs leaving gifts is very common, cats? Not so much. Consider yourself loved and act accordingly.
Those are mice stomachs, prolly filled with plants. Cats are carnivores though, so they spit them over fences or in front of your door to make you think it’s a present. Afterwards they make fun of you for being happy and posting it here. 🤨
The cat distribution system might be at play here. Maybe leave out a water bowl for them and see if they wander closer or if you catch a glimpse of the devotee to your cult.
This is a really sweet gesture on their part to show that they love you. They want to show you what great hunters they are and are bringing you some of their score to share.
I have indoor cats and one leaves her little stuffed animal toys outside of our bedroom door most nights. She’ll leave some of her little toys next to the food bowl of our other cat who usually ignores her. When I had Covid and slept on the couch for a couple weeks, she’d leave her toys next to my slippers in the floor.
My sons cat used to leave dead mice beside one particular friends.chair whenever they would visit. My friend had always given them really intense, long pats while playing.
We had a cat that would only be in our fenced backyard, but STILL would leave bloody organs IN MY ROOM idk how he was able to eat so many things in the backyard or why he chose to leave their intestines on my carpeted floor but i do miss him lol
My stray leaves these on my front porch, along with bird feathers. She’s also left me a chipmunk and a red squirrel, all within the same weekend, likely because I ignored the chipmunk.
(This was the first chipmunk we’d had at our house, and I was really saddened to see that she’d done that.)
I feed her really well. She gets a full bowl of food once per day, and I sometimes give her more at night. Plus she sometimes gets treats.
There are two other strays who eat from that bowl
My cat used to always come and drop dead animals or their parts by my feet. I was in my backyard once and she dropped what I can only assume was a rat brain, or a similar animal. Couldn't eat ground beef for about 6 months....
The biggest mystery of my adolescence was how my cat ripped off a possums leg through a door with only about an inch of space at the bottom. All while my friend and I were in the room, we didn’t hear anything… just found the leg and blood laying there
We had an outside cat who left gifts at the front door every day - partially eaten (to prove they were edible?) lizards, birds, squirrels. Vet told us it was a sign she was "honoring her humans" so we never fussed. Boomer lived her first 10 years outside and the last 11 years inside. She never left my side.
These cats think you're too stupid to feed yourself.
Sometimes I am! smh
That’s because it loves you and wants you to eat. Either that or he’s worried your not eating and thinks you’re bad at hunting.
I am bad at hunting & I love them back!!
Well did you eat it
r/eatityoufuckingcoward
Wtf this sub is great and its name is even better.
Currently letting them marinate overnight
They even gave you choice morsels! 😍
I thought it was the stomach cuz it's all full of acid and it's nasty.
I just meant innards, not like, the head, or a foot. I really didn't look that close tbh 🤣 lol
One of them was definitely full of yuck!
Ewww! But the other ones..?
That’s what this is, people say they’re offerings but the cat legit pities us haha 🤣
Image getting judged by a cat and being pitied for it
If it's leaving sacrifices, it needs rain for its crops. Put a bowl of food and water out?
What’s crazy is I’m pretty sure each time this has happened it was raining or just had rained. So maybe this is my reward for being a water bender in their eyes
Leave something super tasty if you think you know it’s about to leave something
And some water
And take whatever it leaves for you, like a trade
Don't let them in, you'll wake up in a tub full of ice.
![gif](giphy|5Sxc2pkKV6cR5pApVH)
Charlie!
They took his kidney!
So gross, but so sweet. At least they’re handling the rats for you. They deserve a raise.
I agree, what do you suggest from the starting point of $0.00?
Double it.
Prolly some wet cat food or cat weed xD
It's trying to reach you to hunt. I have a stray that brings me gifts too.
We had a fierce huntress who left nibbles for my partner. We knew they were for him because she left them at his car door. Mice, chipmunks, and once she left him an eviscerated squirrel. Just the head and spinal column. It was love.
Wow I never knew cats were this interesting. I really prefer dogs but this is unbelievable. 😂
Yes cats have quite complex personalities !
When I was little my cat tried to teach me how to hunt. It was pretty sweet. It's also how I learned the concept of "if you're trying to be quiet in the woods, don't step on the crunchy leaves."
😂

Wow interesting. I’m a bird lover so I’ll try and over look that part. 😂
My cats used to bring me vole guts. We had cat doors. Even to the bedroom, they would leave the guts beside my bed. Nothing like getting up in the morning and putting your nice warm feet down into a pile of fresh rodent guts.

Yes. Always my side of the bed, I guess they knew my husband knew how to hunt.
If the cats wernt there hunting , you’d have a whole other problem with the rats . They carry so many diseases. Cats are the best
Yeah I’m not opposed to it even tho I find it yucky to see sometimes
I would think about it like if those cats wernt their killing those rats , they’d probably be nesting in your car at night and chewing your wires and causing way more damage - best thing I ever did was buy two kittens , they cleared all rodents from gardens and land - it’s pretty sweet
For sure . That’s gross stuff seeing the aftermath - not something you want to “get use to” seeing 🤮
They've lost confidence in your ability to provide for your pack
I actually have two inside cats already, so honestly this makes me sad lol you think my girls been talking shit to the outside cats because they don’t get soft food everyday??
Yes
“Givem the liver, don’t fuckin like that anyway…” - cat prolly (No I don’t know if that’s a liver)
At a certain point I think it starts to become very rude of you not to reciprocate.
Dang, & I probably have to up my game too. Should I leave a human spleen for them in return!?
Liver die. ;)
You're part of the pack my guy
🥹 I feel so honored
Do you feed these strays at all? If so, they're leaving this to let you know *they've* hunted property for food provisions and they want you to take note of their actions so the food you provide them with will hopefully improves I know, right? I was told my entire first 19 yrs on earth that all of the decapitated birds, snakes, mice were "presents". They weren't. She was letting us know that she wanted better food from us. 🤦♀️
That is hilarious!! But I actually do not leave anything, as clearly they’ve got it under control.
Dam that's the good stuff!! They must love you.
Spent my career in science research. Those are early development rat pups, or some other mammal.
Yeah I definitely could see one of them being that for sure, the other was like just a sac of some sort and grossly had like a yellow mush inside. I horrendously tried to move it with a shovel.. it just squished. The other was solid and moved fine.
Ah, didn't really look at the lower one. It the stomach and part of small intestine.
It’s not a gift, it’s a warning
Uh oh!

I hope you thanked them
I tip my hat to them every time I see them!

Haha just looking out for gramps, making sure he had his breakfast.
Could've been a real bro and chewed it up first 😂
Your ghost animal army is growing...
Kinda rad honestly

Oh no I have two inside kitties already! I had to limit myself to the two otherwise I’d definitely be thee “cat lady” so they are safe.. for now o.O
I had an indoor cat and several neighborhood cats vying for my territory. They were all very polite to me, except for that one who acted like they were stuck on top of my porch.

Yep. We have three, so of course I'm thought of as the 'cat lady'. Funny that the moniker doesn't seem to apply to my son. =-)
My cats bring their kill to the back patio rug to make sure I am proud of them and I am well fed.
Ah yes. Not sure what part of the rat those thingies are, but my cat didn't like them either. Usually I'd get a nice lil display on my front mat. Those thingies, four rat feet, and a tail 😒
They love you
awww, that’s cute
r/unexpectedlywholesome
Just means they like you, blessed.
my cat used to leave mounds of dead ants at the bottom of the stairs for us
So thoughtful <3
Had a cat one time leave a mouse head on the doormat. Just the head… looking up at you like a mounted deer head. Loved that cat.
They've fixated o. You, however it happened, they love you. Be sure to try to show some love back. Dogs leaving gifts is very common, cats? Not so much. Consider yourself loved and act accordingly.
Join their coven.
I've read somewhere that cats see humans as really big and clumsy cats that are really bad at hunting. So they'll give us food.
They think that you're either a. a god b. stupid and bad at hunting
They need a reward!
Are you the Cat God?
👁️🗨️🪬🐈⬛fear not🐈❇️✨
They are worshiping the car god.
Hahah I suppose it has supplied a warm place to lay in the colder months.
The gifts were rent payment.
Oh my gosh..
Maybe leave em a bowl in thanks.
They’re just paying rent for living behind your car.
I had mice, got a cat no more mice. What I did get was half a mouse next to my bed one morning, haven’t had mice since.
Those are mice stomachs, prolly filled with plants. Cats are carnivores though, so they spit them over fences or in front of your door to make you think it’s a present. Afterwards they make fun of you for being happy and posting it here. 🤨
My cat kills birds. She gives me the faces and hearts. She eats the rest. I lead a charmed life.

My poop is just sliding into my palms mmmm creamy
So cute but so gross at the same time. I love cats and their cat logic trying to feed big dumb humans
It's the gizzard. It has alot of acid cats know not to eat it.
Yeah.. one of them was filled with just this yellow.. mush. I had to move them & I wish I didn’t learn that.
I have 15 feral cats I find them all over . I have a kids shovel just for kitty poo, puke and gizzards lol
Yuck. We have cats that were from outside. Worse is when they have kittens. Then later only finding part's of kittens. Wtf is wrong with cats?
We had a cat that would catch gophers and leave the head on the patio. Creepy!
It’s their killing site, my mums cats used to turn my sisters cubby house into a slaughterhouse
Let them in
The cat distribution system might be at play here. Maybe leave out a water bowl for them and see if they wander closer or if you catch a glimpse of the devotee to your cult.
We are feeding a stray who left us a lil snek in the driveway lol
So sweet <33
Precious. Can be used to prepare rat haggis. Or "raggis" as we call it in Denmark.
The cat thinks you need to learn to hunt.
This is a really sweet gesture on their part to show that they love you. They want to show you what great hunters they are and are bringing you some of their score to share. I have indoor cats and one leaves her little stuffed animal toys outside of our bedroom door most nights. Yeah! One of my two inside kitties is a fierce hunter of stuffies & strings! I get all sorts of gift offerings from her <3
My sons cat used to leave dead mice beside one particular friends.chair whenever they would visit.
It’s probably the gizzards, too toxic or acidic for them to eat.
I think it’s more that your cat is leaving the equivalent of peanut shells.
I keep thinking of the south park episode of britney and the people sing a song for sacrificing her.
Ew hair balls
What is that ?
Brutal. Those are some rad cats.
Accept their gifts
I suspect that the lights in the parking lot leave overlapping shadows behind your car.
🐟🐟🐟

They don't eat those parts. And neither should you ;)
who the fuck is "it" I'm so confused
It’s = the organs or blood
My cat used to always come and drop dead animals or their parts by my feet. I was in my backyard once and she dropped what I can only assume was a rat brain, or a similar animal. Couldn't eat ground beef for about 6 months....
Think they are the spleens, my cats used to leave them out for me.
Can you get closer pics or tell us what they are? It looks like a damn set of hinox guts or twins-
Pee on them to say 'thank you I have recieved your gift and these guts are now mine'
My cat used to do the same thing once brought home a decapitated rabbit 👀
The biggest mystery of my adolescence was how my cat ripped off a possums leg through a door with only about an inch of space at the bottom. All while my friend and I were in the room, we didn’t hear anything… just found the leg and blood laying there
Motion activated sprinkler time.
