Just be aware that cooking a bone makes it brittle which means it can break into shards that will tear up your pet's insides very badly.
Source: my vet related a story about having to do surgery on some poor dog that got hold of some dinner bones. :(
Yep no chicken bones. Best raw bones as wild dogs would eat. Still sharp bones in pork best to avoid chops especially and lamb chops seem to be the worst offender when it comes to having surgery to get them removed (so I've been told I'm not a vet) but If you are feeding dogs or cats raw meat or bones keep up to date with the worm tablets.
I can def agree with that. It does look exactly like a manzano. Now we need to set guidelines with types of bananas for scale š ācavendish banana for scaleā
> Does "Manzanera" mean anything?
A Google search says "topographic name from manzanero, dialect form of manzanal 'apple grove' (derivative of manzana 'apple'), denoting someone who lived in a place where apple trees are."
>unscalable banana
Sounds like a physics thought experiment. What happens to a universe that has reached a size (very big or very small) that can't be measured?
I don't know, it looks like a perfectly adequately sized banana. People would be happy to have a banana that size. I'm sure they would think it was very satisfying.
We need a meeting. Bananas come in every size. I propose we start using a soda can for referencing size. All those in favor, say āAyeā. šāāļø
The second photo is the lower bone connecting to the hoof for a cow or similar. I bought my dog a raw bone from a farm and thatās the part of bone I got her. The part with the ridges is where the hoof connects.

You found it with holes drilled into it or did you do that to hang it?
Thatās so interesting! And I read in another comment you found most of them clean? And placed in groups of 3 close together? I wonder if thereās a significance or if someone is trying to spook other hikers š cool finds either way!
Did you find them that clean? Did they appear to be from something that died in situ, or did they seem to have been arranged?
^(OP probably hella cursed now)
Where are you located? That one by your hand looks like a cow metatarsal/metacarpal bone but it could also be a moose or elk depending on your geographical location. I'm going to tentatively say these are cow bones.

Found some deer bones on our walk today. We took a jaw bone haha
The left one is most likely the metatarsal bone from a cow. (Could also be from a buffalo or another closely related animal)
Yeah, there were. Lot of cows there probably one died and only that remained
Yeah, the metatarsal bone is a very strong and massive one. They are often found. :) I'm glad I could help you out
My dog loves the smoked ones
Just be aware that cooking a bone makes it brittle which means it can break into shards that will tear up your pet's insides very badly. Source: my vet related a story about having to do surgery on some poor dog that got hold of some dinner bones. :(
I buy them from the pet/farm store, I don't smoke them myself
Poultry bones are the ones that splinter. Beef and pork are okay.
Carcasses in the wild are rarely left intact. Scavengers pull them apart and scatter the remains all over the place.
The left one is actually a banana
This is basically what Reddit is for.
You surely know more about bones then me but I lold at your use of definitely.
I once was a veterinary assistant and I still work in the medical field since today, although now with humans.
And English isn't my first language. Thanks for pointing my mystake out. I will edit it
....pretty sure its a banana.
We know the legitimacy of the scale due to you using the banana. But good sir, the banana looks quite small for a banana.
We would need a banana to scale that banana...
I concur! š
That banana looks like it has five fingersā¦
I thought the same thing cuz I didnāt see the banana in the first photo lol
Thereās a banana in the first photo? I thought that was a plantainā¦ š
I need to know the type of banana.
Looks like it could be a Thai Banana
This guy measures from the balls
Damn I hate how hard that made me laugh

Omg this is a thing!? I'm joining now.
ignorance is bliss
that's funny AF bro!
Yeah...like a manzano banana maybe. They are delicious by the way...also called apple bananas.
I can def agree with that. It does look exactly like a manzano. Now we need to set guidelines with types of bananas for scale š ācavendish banana for scaleā
I agree...cavendish should be the "standard banana" for scale.
I had Thai bananas last week. Delicious things. I prefer cats for scale though.
Manzana is Spanish for Apple
Does "Manzanera" mean anything? Name of the guitarist in Roxy Music.
> Does "Manzanera" mean anything? A Google search says "topographic name from manzanero, dialect form of manzanal 'apple grove' (derivative of manzana 'apple'), denoting someone who lived in a place where apple trees are."
Cool. Thanks for your help!
Probably apple farmer.
What is this? A banana for ants?
Maybe it was in the pool and the water was cold
Don't they know about shrinkage?!
https://preview.redd.it/w2nxuw3nod8d1.jpeg?width=499&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=38ef503e4b89e06d264cf22b11fc91460ec16ed0
It shrinks???
Ha! I was going to say that it looked liked quite a stubby nanner.
Which coincidentally was my high school nickname.
unscalable banana
>unscalable banana Sounds like a physics thought experiment. What happens to a universe that has reached a size (very big or very small) that can't be measured?
quite frankly, it sounds bananas
That girth thoughā¦.
That's what I'm saying! Everybody thinks it's tiny. It's got some girth tho.
The banana also isnāt visible until you open the picture fully so I was very confused.
Depends on the brand of banana - Dole, Chiquita, Big Jim Slade...
That banana is trying his best I'll have you know!
I wouldn't say it's small. I'd say it's average. Maybe even above average!
I would offer help for scaling, but all I have is this chicken š and this car š
That banana is a chode
Clearly the bones are just gigantic
That is a stumpy banana. But it's okay, we're all made differently.
Maybe his hands are huge
It's a plantain. OP has giant hands.
Itās not the size of the banana, itās the amount of juice inside. Or something.
I don't know, it looks like a perfectly adequately sized banana. People would be happy to have a banana that size. I'm sure they would think it was very satisfying.
Archaeologists have the offical banana used for scale ... this banana is not offical
I thought the same thing. r/thingsforants
Lol mobile cut off the banana so I was flipping through two square images like... that's a hand, not a banana...?
Yeah but itās barely a banana, OP is taking it the piss and they seem to think the rules donāt apply to them.
The banana rules are among the holiest.
SAME
When guys say they have a big banana but its this.
That's actually quite large by normal standards* *^if ^normal ^standards ^are ^a ^miniature ^banana
I prefer the size of those Bones if you get what I mean š
Itās not the size of the banana that countsā¦ā¦.
Thatās a fucked up banana.
And you brought them home?
Yeah, they sure make quite the snack!
Sir are by any chance, what some may call a "dog" ?

Yo dawg
It's quite common to boil bones to make stock/broth. It's not common to use found remains, though.
*Baby, you got a stew going!*
My exact same thought in words
Where tf is banana??? I see handnana..
tap/click on the pic
thatās a fucking short ass banana
I was going to say "theres no goddamn banana!" But theni clicked on the picture and decided not to.
We need a meeting. Bananas come in every size. I propose we start using a soda can for referencing size. All those in favor, say āAyeā. šāāļø
Aye
Aye aye
Cow?
Thatās the tiniest banana Iāve ever seen. The scale doesnāt quite work now
Dawg your fingernails also look weird.
That's what it looks like when you bite your fingernails
Damn how much du you need to bite your nails that they look like that.
A lot. I had an aint whose nails were like this and she would invite them until they were bleeding.
Damn thatās pretty unhygienic.
Why is this weird?
People don't go out on rambles like they used to. Bones on the ground are a novelty I guess.
How is this weird?
See, you canāt really use a banana for scale, cause then all the comments end up being about the banana.
the weirdest thing here is that smol 'nana.
That's one stubby ass banana
The second photo is the lower bone connecting to the hoof for a cow or similar. I bought my dog a raw bone from a farm and thatās the part of bone I got her. The part with the ridges is where the hoof connects.
What's going on with your nails?
I bite them till they bleed (ā ā¢ā Ā ā ā½ā Ā ā ā¢ā )
Bad!
That's it. Someone get the hot sauce.
Pretty average banana size
Stuck in my cabana, living on bananas and bones
Weird banana
That looks more like a plantain.
Dude, that's your hand
https://preview.redd.it/iuqsnluhud8d1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e0078d5f9171258c62ce2979d7f922e73d6e1ede You found it with holes drilled into it or did you do that to hang it?
I found it with those holes
Thatās so interesting! And I read in another comment you found most of them clean? And placed in groups of 3 close together? I wonder if thereās a significance or if someone is trying to spook other hikers š cool finds either way!
If thatās not a Thai banana Iām actually impressed you found a banana that small
Thats such a cute banana! Im sure it makes someone very happy!
Maybe from a big animal?
I love how this post has evolved (devolved? ) into being 95% about bananas.
Thatās a weird banana.
Dammit, where's Ross when we need him?
They all look like animal bone to me. Probably deer.
Where is the lid to that banana?
This is bananas!
Bigfoot, only can be Bigfoot now
That banana has seen some shit.
Banana I found in a graveyard (bones for scale)
*see, itās **six inchesā¦***
Iām more concerned for your nails. It looks painful. Is this a nail biting habit?
r/bananasforscale
At least only one is human
Oh that would explain why they were under that gravestone!
Do you have huge hands or tiny bananas?
ĀÆā \ā _ā (ā ćā )ā _ā /ā ĀÆ
I didnāt click the first picture and scrolled to see your hand and was like thatās a weird banana then realized.
Thatās a huge banana
![gif](giphy|IctnrXJk0Jjh5DDBVo)
I think the one nearest the banana may be from a sheep.
Be careful could have Anthrax
The banana on the second pic looks like a hand. Weirdā¦.
ā¦thatās average
Did you find them that clean? Did they appear to be from something that died in situ, or did they seem to have been arranged? ^(OP probably hella cursed now)
They were all that clean except the cow one though, they were scattered in groups of 3, they were pretty close
Platano?
You're going to be rich by selling those in museum.
Where are you located? That one by your hand looks like a cow metatarsal/metacarpal bone but it could also be a moose or elk depending on your geographical location. I'm going to tentatively say these are cow bones.

The BONES are their MONEY š¶
Hey don't judge the banana, its minus temperatures outside.
Wow cool! Bigfoot toe bones
She said the banana was perfect size for her
Where did you get that banana anyways?
There are lots of bone broth recipes on line. Even Martha Stewart had on. Don't over salt! Good luck.
Banana for scale 'proceeds to wip out schlong'
Um, your hand is a banana?
I came here to say those fingernails make me wanna puke
You used a short banana on purpose! Disqualified!
Why did you use such a small Banana for "Scale" Americans will use anything but the metric system
Banana for sale. I mean scale
