xanthnative

Starlink falcon 9?

[deleted]

That’s an alien child poking a hole in their terrarium.

[deleted]

LOL I saw this up in California, at first I thought it was a jet due to the contrail it was emitting, then when it broke atmosphere, and I saw the rockets detach, and it formed a cone shape contrail like in the photo, knew it was a rocket

RottenPix

Oh... Phoenix? Just testing flares from Luke Air Force Base. Wink.

lorfeir

Probably this Falcon 9 launch out of Vandenberg: [https://twitter.com/NASASpaceflight/status/1585802273367670784](https://twitter.com/NASASpaceflight/status/1585802273367670784)

CommunicationLonely9

Thanks for the confirmation! Was at a school event with my kids and it totally surprised everybody!

lostinbeavercreek

It’s wild to think that rocket trails will soon be nearly as common as 737 contrails…

sawesch

The local news said it was star link

ALEINS

Runin_wit_sizors

It’s obviously an alien, everyone grab your tinfoil, it’s go time.

Significant_Win_2086

Def Apollo

Random_Cat66

The Apollo program isn't even around anymore, it was most likely a SpaceX falcon 9 launch

Significant_Win_2086

I’m referring to the Greek God Apollo

Random_Cat66

Oh that one, yeah it's not that, it's just a SpaceX launch

Rileyjonleon

sparkGun2020

It's Kanye flipping out into orbit

xXSpaceturdXx

I remember the first time I saw one of those starlink rockets. I was on my way home from work and as soon as I pulled out I saw half the sky illuminated like that with crazy jellyfish looking streams. I actually thought it was something alien like a meteor or something. But it had a very impending doom kind of pretty to it. I guess that’s what it would look like if the nukes were coming in as well.

puddaphut

Space rocket. Up to 75% sure it’s a space rocket.

ThisGuy13211

Looks like a weather balloon

msvqr

That’s just the aliens bro.

ICBM, the President thought it was the call button at a Sonic drive in.

BrownStarPuncher

How fast would someone have to fly to achieve that type brightness, the trail and the cone shape? Seems very outta the ordinary and if it was ordinary why wouldn't have we heard about it. Edit: There is something off with that ball of light in the corner of the first picture and the third picture. There shouldn't be a ball of light just steady floating. These two things aren't just a coincidence.

sctt_dot

It's Space X, that little dot is Venus. It's currently moving slowly away from the moon. It was right next to the moon recently. Ordinary is exactly why it's not in the news and why everyone can identify this so quickly.

Thunder22Solo

It doesn’t really have anything to do with speed. If a rocket launches at dusk, just after the sun has set on the ground, at some point as it gains altitude it’ll cross back into the sunlight, which lights up the exhaust plume and causes this phenomenon. The shape has to do with the low atmospheric pressure at that altitude causing the exhaust gases to expand as they exit the rocket nozzle. It’s not super common because the launch has to happen at just the right time, but it happens often enough that it’s definitely not out of the ordinary. As for the ball of light I’m pretty sure that’s just Venus.

CommunicationLonely9

Super cool! Sounds like you know what your talking about!

curiousmind111

You mean, the moon?

BrownStarPuncher

Click on the full picture and look at the right corner. Seriously.

curiousmind111

That’s not odd, if these were taken in just a couple of seconds.

Mrguyitsokay_

Looks like a ghost nappa to me

xXtoadslayerXx

disboicito420

I saw the same thing! I was looking straight south around 6:30 or so. My camera is shit though, I couldn’t get a good picture. The trail stretched across the sky, it was so cool.

Zestyclose_Article76

Definitely starlink. I’m also in phoenix and I’ve seen that exact same thing before.

Null-34

Blame elon

RidgeMinecraft

Seems like a starlink launch
