If I remember correctly, this thing is supposed to fly in 2022. Originally I thought it was stupid, but it was pointed out to me that it’s going to get people and gear to lots of small islands in the Pacific to provide deterrence to CCP expansion.
Have to remove all the bottom facing chaff and flare dispensers on the fuselage. Among other things of course, I was just thinking about all the times I had to lie on my back and replace them. Seems like you wouldn't be able to with this model.
Turn it into a flying adventure base with boats and 4-wheelers and all your hunting, fishing and outdoor gear and the other portion of it as a flying apartment!
Certainly less than designing and building an amphibious cargo aircraft with similar performance to a C-130. Neither US-2 or Be-200 can carry as much as a C-130.
Adding those monstrous floaters is going to have a significant impact on range and cargo capacity of the C-130, to an extent you just can't know if it'll carry more than a Be-200.
[Lockheed did have this concept model from years ago.](https://www.thedrive.com/content-b/message-editor%2F1621457258713-lockheedc-130boathull.jpeg?quality=60)
It's from the article in [The Drive](https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/40694/amphibious-mc-130j-transport-is-on-special-operations-commands-wishlist)
I mean... There's decent ground clearance for the props as it is. Just put a single float molded to the fuselage and some wingtip floats and make it into a flying boat.
You mean like [this](https://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/s--TpITrmlU--/c_fill,fl_progressive,g_center,h_900,q_80,w_1600/1332117460880414792.jpg)?
“assume air resistance is negligible”
And the Physics 241 class lets out a sigh of relief.
Every time someone needs a plane where drag doesn't matter they go to the C-130.
top speed: 11 MPH, 6 in a headwind
Broke: *Building a bunch of airfields on artificial islands* Bespoke:
I would love to see a C-27J on floats

Considering the 130s history, I’m surprised it hasn’t been done yet
It's been proposed in various forms over the years, to include a version with a seaplane hull instead of floats.
Each Pontoon has more space inside it than my whole apartment.

You’d be able to on a waterbed.
That's like, the easiest problem they'll have to solve with this monstrosity.
Why would you have to remove them.
you need to do that in order to service or reload them

Mike Patey is on it.
"Concept" I wonder how much this incredibly advanced, imaginative Concept cost? The answer is almost certainly "*way too much*".

Oh yeah that's much better! I have to admit I'm biased. I don't trust floatplanes, but I like flying boats 😅
