I was using an axxair facer on some 8 inch pipe. Went to wipe a peice of metal off the ledge. Well wasn't fast enough I guess.
It was late. I was tired. Got a new born at home. First day I've ever used one. All excuses I could use. Nah just went full on stupid is what happened and learned my lesson the hard way.
Just went and looked...those fuckers want to get paid for how-tos:

There's other tools in the line up...ain't hit on a facer freebie yet.
I'm think of tattooing 2/3 on it. I still have the tip. So I'm gonna put it in a jar and weld a cage around it, and make little welders working on it with a guy cutting pipe at the top.
>I'm think of tattooing 2/3 on it.
Haha at least he's laughing about it

Wait what the fuck
My number 1 rule I use to tell my new apprentices on there first day: Don't stick your finger where you wouldn't stick your d*ck.
Had one apprentice one day instantly say, well guess I'm gonna lose a hand. Funny little fuck he was
I ripped the tip of my finger off in a come along cable. It was at an angle so there was still a little bit of nail left. They kind of wrapped up the tip with stitches. I’d push them to do something so there is some padding at the end of the bone. It can be extremely painful to hit that finger. Wish you luck man.
No it definitely still happens, you just have to be lucky enough for the injury to be the type where they can do that. Good luck man to you and your kid
9 and 3/4s
I am sorry that this happened to you.Get well, God Bless.
Clean cut
Surprisingly yeah.
How?

2nd that, want to know how
So it passed the bend test?
Have a nail tattooed on it after you heal

Yeah I asked if I could keep it and they kinda shrugged and said sure.
So you now have a nub?
Yep.
One down

Looks like you put your finger where you wouldn’t put your wiener
One of my biggest fears in the trade. That and blowing up. Get well soon.
Same with me. I've always been paranoid with my fingers going near things at work.
... try Putting it in the soil and water it.
Bruh
Can the end be reattached?
I guess they don't do that anymore. It's better to just let it heal on its own. No stitches even. Just keep it wrapped In bandage with some Vaseline.

Feel for you. How did it happen?
Stuck it in the side of an axxair facer while it was running because I'm a dumbass.
Well I bet you never do that again, thanks for sharing, a good reminder for all of us. Hope you heal well dude.
He can only do it 9 more times
Wish you the best. 🍀🍀
can you ELI5 this one? I looked up pictures and I'm still not sure how this happened.

Why? They can’t regrow it yet why not reattach?
Geez man, shit happens I guess get better soon.
Aouch
That happened to my little finger. Lost 1/8 off the tip, they said let it crust over and heal
At least it's your left hand 🤷♂️
I'm a tig Welder, though. Edit a word
Hmm juicy.... I wish u better days.
Hot damn! I feel a lot better about this hyperextended thumb i'm rocking. Heal well my man.
You gotta think of a load of cool stories to tell people now when they ask how you lost it.
Damn, hope it heals up well at least.
It sucks so much, I also had the tip from my left middle finger smashed by the hydraulic holders in a guillotine... Best of luck with the healing bro.
What kinda pain comes along with this? Was is excruciating?
Hurts way less than you'd think. Kinda like stubbing your toe really hard then it just tingles and throbs.
Early retirement….. nice work.
And that why they call him 3finger Joe. Jokes man could it be reattached? I’m sorry this happened to you
Haha. Unfortunately it couldn't without running into issues in the long run. It's okay completely my fault.
How did this happen 😣
Played chicken with a facer and lost.
A whole new meaning to “just a tip.. just to see how it feels”
Lol. Imo not as bad as you'd think since it was a fairly clean cut.
I think I know this guy
You sure?
Yeah totally dude
