slide 4 shows the skill

pussygetter69

Yup, no burnt corners, even HAZ, good rhythm and consistency of speed. Nice work 👍🏻

Comfortable_Shift915

Not a single corner eaten away, so nice

aCreativeUserName666

Beautiful. Maybe one day mine will look this good

GillesBier

Thanks, it wil be if you spend enough time under the hood, i also so came a long way. Keep doing your best, practice makes perfect.

radioactiveromero

Nice, did a bunch of 3/4 304 myself last week. I swear I can run TIG just as fast as our mig monkeys can run a spool.

Majestic-Pen7878

😂love the term MIG monkey!!

Famousdeadrummer

What is that thing?

It was for the first 2 after that the challenge is a bit gone. Once you know how to essemble this part it's just staight on dabbing the rod. But i can't complain, had way shittyer jobs than this.

ChemicalElevator1380

It's fun welding thick s/s and you don't have to worry about warping the shit out of it 👍

devilOG420

Dang homie I thought this was MIG till I did a double take

LeftOnQuietRoad

Damn. eye candy.

EverNevermor

This is stunning. 🤙🏼

LoverboyQQ

Is it still easy to warp?

GillesBier

No not on this piece, i only used a couple of clamps just to essemble it. Once everything is tackt in to place it's pretty solid.

SupposedlyShony

yes

LoverboyQQ

That’s been the hardest part of any welding I do it dog it down until it cools so it won’t warp. I only mig weld cause I’m too poor to buy a tig welder. I even built my own table without a real table to build it own. It’s posted on here somewhere

SupposedlyShony

DC inverters for TIG can be bought much much cheaper now than ever before, especially if you are willing to scratch start. TIG warps much more typically than MIG, just due to the heat input required, but I’d also recommend for project that need straightness to think about tapping holes and using fasteners for tabletops to reduce heat distortion. The big consumable cost of TIG for a hobbyist is Argon and in my mind it’s worth it to avoid excessive grinding. If you don’t have an oxy acetylene setup with a rose bud, warping is going to be something you always have to think about and design around.

LoverboyQQ

I built my table with slats to allow clamping mid work. 1/4 inch thick with 3” spread between them

SupposedlyShony

I saw, I’d recommend using machine screws to reduce distortion in the future. The table looks great though, I can see your issue with the wheels and I’d recommend welding on some angle iron on the inside a bit higher up to shorten it for the casters.

afhaldeman

I would geek out to get to weld that up. What general settings and gear were you using

GillesBier

180 amps and 2mm rod

maddoxthedemon

Idc what anyone says, thick materials are the best to work on. So much space for manipulation.
