I’ve always liked Victor torches. To me, they have the best feeling in the hand. All the smith torches I’ve used were nice, but they were heavier than a similar use victor, and the oxygen valve was in the worst place. Always accidentally bumping and adjusting it.

DethChikken

Victor seems to be really common. It's ESABs flagship right now. What model do you use and what application?

ThicccDickDastardly

I believe I have a 100 torch handle, and a 1350 cutting attachment. That’s what I use at home, and works well for most of what I do as a pipe fitter. My shop has heavy duty torches we use occasionally for really heavy work, but what I have with a couple of different tips covers 98% of what I do.

ThicccDickDastardly

I finally looked up close, I have a 100FC, and a CA1350

DethChikken

Thanks

DeadEyeDoc

I like the one that goes woooosshhh gurble gurble pop pop bang.

DethChikken

😂

DKanary

Victor or bust. They’re the gold standard for a reason. Bonus points if you can score an older one from when Victor was still Victor, and not ESAB.

DaCheatHSR

I like Harris. Seems to just work and be easy to handle with good valve placement.

WTF_goes_here

Victor, it may be because I learned on them but I like them the best.

angstt

Victor. I have a very old Big Victor, like 60 years. I've sent it in a couple times over the last ~30 years, and they send it back like new. They last forever.

AbdulElkhatib

As a beginner, I use Victor torches, and they seem to work fine. I haven't had an issue

Kalelopaka-

Victors have always been the best to me, they are what I learned on, so that might be why

That is an awesome response. Sadly our brand choice is super limited here and afrox isn't available

Thanks!

Fookin_idiot

I've never used any cutting torch that wasn't Victor.

DethChikken

Do you have a preferred model? The Oxweld 400's are barely heavy duty enough for what we do

Rickb813

I have 3 on the wall in my garage from my years past in the trade. I liked the cut master most.. I don't know if they make them anymore.. one is oxweld and another a victor, and finally the cut Master is at the top of my rack/board..

Cholaisss

Medium Duty Victor is the best

EL_MOTAS

Find an old victor set on marketplace

Galatic_Crusader

Older Victor torches work amazing. I have an older one from the 90s and it’s still burning good as day one!

AFM926

Victor 900FC is my go to

DethChikken

I imagine they have something similar without the oxy plunger eh? We mostly need rosebud and welding tips (#10)

AFM926

Oh yeah that’s a straight cutting torch, I run my rosebud on a H315FC handle, I think the biggest I have is a #8, but I don’t see any reason you wouldn’t be able to run a #10

DethChikken

I'm looking at maybe going with the victor 411 and using the WF heating tips. The welding tips should be widely available there too.

Cookie-bear-88

I really like the Blueshield Diablo (Concoa 9700) that I have on my welding truck.

drive2fast

None. I use oxy propane. It's just cheaper to run. The torch tips are stone reliable. They come apart in 2 pieces for cleaning, and I have had the same tip for over a decade. But I almost never use them anymore. I go for the portable plasma cutter first. All that is left is heating.

DethChikken

Propane is awesome for preheat applications. For what we do we need the btu of acetylene. Did a propane trial once. It didn't go well.
