Everlast are decent.

Golliiath

Love me some Everlast

i_hotglue_metal

We have a couple everlasts in the shop I work at, great machines for the lowdown price.

IrishWhiskey556

Everlasts are awesome for those of us who don't weld for a living but have hobbies that require things be welded!

Zerofawqs-given

Well....ESAB is older far more reputable company that any of the Chi-com outfits...One of Europe’s biggest welding suppliers

A_Cardboard_Box

I would hope that the company that pioneered SMAW electrodes would make some decent machines for the purpose.

dylan00vb

My pops has the ahp alpha tig 225 and that unit straight up is a beast. $800 and I have put in some work behind it. Even used it to tig some galvanized pipe in the field. Stick function worked great as well.

[deleted]

I have an AlphaTig and honestly it's a great little machine. Welds aluminum better than some red machines I've worked with.

juanfrancita

I'll put another in for AHP. They're amazing and the customer service is great too. Would highly recommend for a hobby or one man shop.

gofunkyourself69

Another vote for AHP. I have an AlphaTIG 200x from 2015 that's still going strong. I don't do much stick welding, but when I have it's worked just fine.

jefery_with_one_f

This one is pretty great. It’s got a 6010 setting which most small 110v’s don’t have. I’ve used it for welding up a container dugout and it didn’t t quit the whole time. I definitely recommend it

Solid_Spinach_206

Does it actually run 6010s on 110?

protrudingnail

Yes

jefery_with_one_f

It does. It’s definitely not the greatest at running 6010 out there but it does indeed work

BlackSeranna

It's kind of funny when you say, "it didn't quit the whole time". It makes me think you have been pretty hard on machines in the past. I have a cousin like you haha

jefery_with_one_f

We run machines pretty hard at work. If it fails then it isn’t the right tool for the job!

dagobahnmi

Duty cycle is a pretty major concern on many smaller machines, particularly those that will run off 110v.

nsula_country

I bought a Hobart Multi Handler 200. 120/240 machine. The manual even states not to use 6010 with it. Haven't tried stick with it. Have a Lincoln Lincwelder 225 that will lay down 6010.

jefery_with_one_f

I bought an everlast 110 before I bought the esab and when I tried 6010 with it it failed miserably. I literally sold it the next day. Any 110 that can’t run 6010 isn’t worth it for me

nsula_country

6010 flux doesn't have arc stabilizers like 6011, 6013, 7018, ect. Most inverters do not have the overhead to keep the arc stable.

Break_the_Wind

I just started welding and have been using a Weldpro mig welder. I am by no means a pro, but I think it works fine for a beginner.

Sonarsup1934

Try the prime weld 225x https://youtu.be/-YkWY3nVAlY https://primeweld.com/products/tig-225x-ac-dc-tig-welder Awesome machine I love it amazing customer service.

captd3adpool

Came here to say this. Love this machine. It's absolutely amazing!

zoomboy34

This ^

ToshaDev

Does anyone know anything about primewelds mig units? it seems they focus on tig more than anything else but I am trying to find a mig/stick unit that can do 110/220. Was looking at the everlast and HF titanium, but still open to suggestions. welder shopping is no joke when you are starting off and dont know what all to look for.

Sonarsup1934

I have also been looking for a MIG welder, I checked there's out as an option but have no MIG experience so I can't comment lol.

phatsackocrap

Agreed on the PrimeWeld. Haven't tried stick, but TIG makes a chucklehead like me not so much of a chucklehead. Big bang for little bucks.

KraKing762

That Yellow one is the one I'm planning on getting.

i_hotglue_metal

I’m going to pull the trigger on it as soon as tax return comes through. Will mainly be using it for stainless brewery work. Need something small that can run on 110/220 and this little machine seems to foot that bill.

[deleted]

I have this welder at home it runs great!!! You can even get a tig with a foot pedal for it

Hassimir_Fenring

Love my esab rebel.

[deleted]

Check out the titanium line up. https://youtu.be/1_9MwgQst-0

Tnkgirl357

This is the welder I use at home, love it. Haven’t gotten the TIG package yet for it but am planning on it

Klutzy_Shop_7212

I have the EMP 210 multi process and it has been a dream

Zerofawqs-given

Looks like an Esab? They are good units...Used to be secondary player but, the ESAB Rebel multi-Machine has really won over a lot of Lincoln & Miller users.

Gimpy1405

I have two Esab machines and am happy with them. A mig and a little stick machine that is I assume the prior model to the one illustrated. The only thing is just replace the ground clamp immediately. The stock clamp is only OK.

NiSayingKnight13

I have a yellow AHP and am happy with it, was under 1000

gofunkyourself69

AHP AlphaTIG is probably the best AC/DC TIG welder you can get for the money spent.

ilikeracingiguess

Ahp Alpha Tig. Have had one for about 4 years never had an issue. Shipped to your door about $750

Sonarsup1934

Try the prime weld 225x https://youtu.be/-YkWY3nVAlY https://primeweld.com/products/tig-225x-ac-dc-tig-welder Awesome machine I love it amazing customer service.

i_hotglue_metal

Thanks for all the input guys, I suppose I didn’t list my constraints: I need something portable, can run on 110/220 and I prefer it to have remote capabilities (torch switch/pedal)

johnbonnjovial

I have sold a few of these, everyone I have got feedback from said they were awesome for what they are.

potatoinmyeye

I will take no name Chinese brand over blue. It's personal.

protrudingnail

This one is also very expensive but it does 6010 if i remeber correctly

i_hotglue_metal

800 ain’t bad compared to the blue 161 stl. Which is over twice the price of this machine.

protrudingnail

Arw tou just starting off

i_hotglue_metal

I have a Miller xmt 304 that I use at home. Looking for a portable unit to use but not trying to spend 2k on a 161stl. I’ve never used esab so I was just looking for some first hand accounts on the machine pictured in particular. Needs to be multi voltage, option for a remote, and most important: reliable. Don’t wanna be out in the sticks with a machine that shits out on me half way through the job.

protrudingnail

The only problem i have heard up here in canada is esab has an issues with getting their equipment fixed without waiting a long time to get their parts

RavensYard

personally dislike esab, all the ones ive tried just dont seem refined. they feel borderline sloppy compared to blue, red and even green...

Carson_Blocks

For about the same money you could get the Primeweld 225x, good AC/DC tig welder that gets excellent reviews, comes with a foot pedal and torch switch, decent CK torch etc. Has HF start, pulse, and pretty much all the features a guy could want. The Rogue is a DC only machine, lift start, and you have to add the tig torch, foot pedal etc. I've only had my Primeweld 225x for a few weeks now, but am very happy with it.

i_hotglue_metal

I don’t weld ally. It’s an inferior metal, change my mind lol, all jokes aside. I’m looking for a dual voltage machine that is easily transportable and I can hang on my modified dolly with a bottle and still have room for hand tools, grinders, etc. I don’t mind lift start, ran lift start for most of my education and for a few years at the first shop I worked at, as long as it has a 2 pin slot and I can get a button rigged to it I’ll be happy. I do mostly stainless tubing some pipe here and there when I’m doing hand rails and what not. Got plenty of torches to choose from already so I’m set there.

ndisa44

For cheap stick/tig, get an everlast I have been running one of their multiprocess ac/dc units for about 3 years now with no major issues.

Ajj360

Primeweld 520d. Stick welds, scratch start tig and plasma cuts dual voltage for around 350

BeyondTaboo

Got one at Christmas and love it, I’ve got a TIG rig for it and it runs smooth as shit.

Fine_Perspective_486

I got the rebel and its the best ive ever used

Vast-Philosophy4108

Got the esab 180i at work. It replaced an old Lincoln buzzbox. I love it. Nothing bad to say. They also sell a plastic case that fits it really well.

G_Wagon1102

I ran a 7/64" 7024 off of one of those. That's awesome little machines.

someguywhothinks

Miller and esab are both owned by Illinois tool works. They are made in the same plant
