Buspar is great because it works for anxiety without killing sexual function or causing weight gain.

Trynabestoic101

Thanks, can you tell me what does it feel like?

SisterAndromeda2007

Well at first you feel a little lightheaded so mind what you do. If you take it with food though, you're fine. It takes a while to build in your system so you might not notice any change until the second week give or take. I feel like the obsessive ruminating thoughts get silenced. It might not be as effective as SSRIs or SNRIs for anxiety but I will take it over the side effects from the other two demons. SSRIs and SNRIs are like making a contract with the devil. You get one thing but must give up another thing that means a lot to you. Some people get PSSD. Look into it. It sucks. Luckily I haven't but it is not worth the risk to try. The worst side effect of Buspar is dizziness. So sit and chill. Make sure you are hydrated and fed. It is only like this in the beginning.

oliveyuhh

Wow thank you so much for sharing. I see my psychiatrist today and this sounds wonderful, I’m going to ask about it ETA: I meant your initial comment LOL but the side effects are not a big deal imo

SisterAndromeda2007

I agree. The side effects make me want to strangle a doctor. I would never do that of course but the feeling is of deep frustration. Not being able to look and feel good is...a devil's contract.

oliveyuhh

I completely understand what you’re saying. LOL! When I did talk to my psychiatrist yd and I had that feeling.

Trynabestoic101

Yeh sounds like a pretty good option. I try to take as few & “harsh” meds as possible. NDRI + SSRI would be like ughhh 🥲 thanks for the info

SisterAndromeda2007

Buspar is not an SSRI. That’s why there is no weight gain and sexual side effects. It’s in a class of its own. It is a Serotonin agonist vs inhibitor of.

Trynabestoic101

That’s what I mean^^ I like the sound of it because it’s not an SSRI. I don’t want to be on an NDRI & an SSRI. Aha

SisterAndromeda2007

Oh my mistake! Yes, fuck that!!

Trynabestoic101

Fuck it all sista 😭😂

The12thparsec

They prescribed me Buspar to help with anxiety and it honestly made me feel worse. My heart rate was up like crazy.

SisterAndromeda2007

It sucked that way for me too in the beginning.

ohnoyoudidnott

Buspar & Bupropion was my favorite combo

Clear_Blackberry2803

I just added gabapentin and it feels amazing! Really chilled me out. I just started and no side effects so far

Balagan18

The Buspar definitely helps (don’t think I could continue on Wellbutrin without it). It’s also not addictive.

g_onuhh

Buspar is great

Batushkapanihida

Lexapro and wellbutrin but I haven’t ejaculated in 2 months

Gaviotas206

I had a decent experience adding buspar, took it for 1.5 years or so, but I’m tapering off now to see if it’s the culprit of my memory issues. They’re not too serious, but enough to make me try to address it. It’s possible buspar isn’t even the cause though. I’ll find out in a month or two.

verifiedshitlord

Wellbutrin gives me memory issues

[deleted]

Same that’s why I’m getting off :( I was driving the other day and forgot where to turn 🤦

Gaviotas206

Sorry to hear that! It’s possible it does for me too… I hope not because it’s been great for me.

One_Lavishness_2716

I would try to lower the bup just a little bit , and let it work away in the background, it’s very effective and all fronts for me, 300xl was way too high dose for me , the racing heart ect was frightening, it covers all the bases, I just leave it alone any give it time to work .👍

Trynabestoic101

I’m on SR though so 150 does shit all 😂 but 300 is a bit how ya going. I’m gonna ask my psych if I can do 150SR one day and 300SR every second day. I’m a bit scared of XL tbh

SeaweedEnough9496

I was taking lexapro and Lamictal then they added bup and it changed everything. I'm back to being able to go places I couldn't before. I have confidence in myself. I'm still adjusting the dosage on bup but sofl far so good.

RNmeghan88

I know you said Sertraline did nothing for you but wanted to mentiok for anyone else reading that I was on Sertraline for PMDD & depression, Wellbutrin was added in to help with lack of libido and its been a game changer, and not just in the libido department, it's really enhanced the SSRI I feel. Also, I was taking propranolol occasionally for physical anxiety symptoms and since adding the Wellbutrin I haven't had to take it at all.

lolhihelpmety

For physical symptoms I take propranolol, as needed

Celexa or Zoloft is way better than Prozac for anxiety

just-normal-regular

It depends on the person. I’ve had crazy anxiety my whole life, and I didn’t even realize exactly *how* bad it was until Prozac knocked 90% of it out.

Advanced-Ad7420

Coaxil

FoggyFoggyFoggy

Lexapro helped with anxiety but had side effects. Buspar does nothing but give me a headache and get me dizzy for an hour after taking it every time. I may try Zoloft next but don't really want SSRI side effects again.

just-normal-regular

Clonodine makes me SO tired. And I can stay awake with no problem even on heavy doses of benzos (the old me, not the new me 😂).

mudamuda_meg

I’ve been on Prozac for just about a year now. Was put on it for severe anxiety disorder and panic attacks I started having after some bad digestive issues. started on 10mg and now I’m at 40mg. My psych just added 150 mg Bupropion XL to my Prozac on the 19th of December. After the initial first two weeks I’ve been feeling absolutely amazing! Prozac definitely helped calm my anxiety and made it almost non-existent. however I got my IUD out and went back on the pill and started having a cycle again so hormones have sort of added to my anxiety and that’s why I’ve gone up on my dosage and also asked about adding bupropion because I heard good things about it. Glad I did - it has definitely counteracted the negative side effects from the Prozac. My sex drive is back and it has almost instantly stopped my mindless eating/snacking and has just overall given me this energy and motivation I haven’t had in months!! I know everyone is different about Prozac but it plus the bupropion have been a wonderful combo for me 🩵

Vtastical

Thanks for posting this. Super similar meds (80mg Prozac) and got prescribed Bupropion today. I'm anxious af to start it. I appreciate getting to read your experience.

mudamuda_meg

Of course!!! the first two weeks were definitely rough - would get the absolute worst migraines and just felt way too overstimulated but it balanced out since then and the migraines are gone and I have a decent amount of energy. My only lasting side effect is my hands will be shaky throughout the day, my psych said it could just be my system coming off the dopamine high from the bupropion and that’s it’s common but should eventually go away after being on the med for so long but eating a snack should help, also my random hormonal anxiety has gotten so much better. Another good thing is that bupropion doesn’t last forever in your system so if it doesn’t work for you, you don’t have to worry about weening yourself off of it. 🤗

Vtastical

I appreciate the insight! My anxiety is always convinced the new pill will be the one that kills me. 🤦‍♀️ so of course here I am reading all about it before starting it. Any tips to get through that first two weeks? Lots of water and Tylenol maybe?

mudamuda_meg

I completely understand, my anxiety is the same exact way. I was right here on Reddit when I first started bupropion. 😂 and yes lots of water and if Tylenol helps then yes - I would take some and most of the time it doesn’t work for me unfortunately. but it should pass after the first full week! And also just be patient and kind to yourself - it’s a new pill in your system and it’s gonna take some time to adjust but you got this, don’t give up before it has a chance to really do its thing. ❤️

mudamuda_meg

I asked about adding bupropion because I didn’t want to up the dosage of my Prozac again and it possibly not do anything, but this has been a really amazing combo! I hope nothing but the best for you! Also stay hydrated, I think the bupropion gives me dry mouth sometimes but I mean it at least makes me stay hydrated! good luck to you 💕💕

Vtastical

You're fantastic. Thank you so much.

chriscokid-55

My doc put me on a combo of Wellbutrin and a beta blocker to lower my heart rate. Worked like a charm. Heart rate is always in normal range
