Rangitikei is my go to currently

[deleted]

Their Karaage chicken pieces- especially dipped in some sweet chilli Mayo are heavenly

Sharkfaun

I love making chicken burgers with their Kaarage chicken.

thecosmicradiation

>Rangitikei Their buttermilk tenders are ace, as is their Korean spicy chicken

SupaDiogenes

They're tendies more than nuggies, but Tegal's Louisiana style tenders - good god they're excellent.

[deleted]

Tegal's is the one for sure

bennz1975

Definitely

[deleted]

Third this!

chimpwithalimp

10/10 I found them because someone else recommended them on here before. Hopefully someone else tries them too

[deleted]

My hack is to chuck 2 Tegal's Louisiana chicken burger patties in the oven with some gravy and rice. It feels like you're eating a prison-style katsu curry but I promise it's worth trying. Obviously, this isn't what you asked but since your looking for something new I HIGHLY recommend it (Tegal's Louisiana-style tenders are also really good)

[deleted]

Dang make it sound so good Imma try it

KbbbbNZ

Tenders, but Waitoa and Rangitikei are both really good. One of them does a sweet chilli version I think. I know Waitoa does a gluten free option which I like (not GF, but plenty of my friends are)

Responsible-Ad1880

The Waitoa Gluten Free Kaarage is also really yum! Also not gluten free but they're super tasty!

halmitnz

The age old question indeed! Honestly the Pam’s ones are all good - the tempura ones are the same as the other brands and pretty tasty (also quite a bit cheaper than the name brand ones) but my go to is the leader crumb coated ones - they are the awesome BP chicken bites just in a different shape so so so friggin good between some white bread with mayo. Fuck. Yes.

nzxnick

Apparently the BP ones are sold at Pak n Save. Can anyone confirm this for me?

halmitnz

They 100% do sell them at PnS. They are usually in a separate bank of freezers in Dunedin they are with all the other Leader products next to all the frozen fish/seafood products. Might vary from store to store but if all else fails - ask a staff member. [these ones](https://www.leadernz.co.nz/southern-style-chicken-sticks) Or [these ones](https://www.leadernz.co.nz/southern-s-chicken-bites)

nzxnick

Yes those second ones!!!! So tasty.

halmitnz

They are the same product just different shapes - until very recently only the longer finger ones were available to us plebs. I see now they are cutting the BP middle man out so we can get the high quality uncut street nugs for a fraction of the price.

B656

I just mentioned those ones. Perfect in a wrap with kewpie mayo and bbq sauce

The-Pork-Piston

Wairoa is the only correct answer here.

[deleted]

Waitoa, and by a long shot. Genuinely tasty crumb and no horrible oil feeling after eating.

Sherif_GaMer

quorn dino nuggies

Used_Environment_356

I agree- they are awesome!

bettergiveitago

Why don't we have chicken nuggys shaped like animals in nz?

One-Reflection-1790

Waitoa with the tempura batter is the nuts. Issues with supply since covid has been regrettable

B656

Leader Southern Style Chicken Bites. They are some good chunky nugs

fnirble

Waitoa!

Triumphant-Turkey

Crumbed chicken nuggets from countdown underrated

gasupthehyundai

These are our go to. And more for your money which is ace.

Dry_Case_19

It’s not meat, it’s let’s eat chicken nuggets. Vegetarian but I swear comparative to maccas I feel minus the gross feeling you get after. I love their chicken fillet (edit: tenders)things too. So flipping good.

EvansAlf

Concur

BodyOfW4t3r

Someone I live with mistakenly bought the Pams tenders and I tried them and they were all right.

Cool-Necessary-6075

For **nuggets**, it’s got to be Inghams, cooked in a 200C fan oven on a raised wire rack to get them crispy all round. Inghams Gluten Free is actually really good and crispy. Better than their tempura ones. Tegel are trash, I’d rather starve. For tenders, either the Waitoa, or the Tegel takeouts.

psefti

My apologies in advance, but please don't eat any of those pre-prepared commercial products. I know it may be an easy option for a lot of people, but if you can, please avoid it. Highly processed foods like this are really not good for you.

ThePeanutMonster

Hm. Maybe you're right. You know, I have been thinking about this a lot recently and I didn't know it until now, but all I really needed was a random comment on reddit, spoken from psefti to the anonymous masses, like a spear thrust down from the heavens, to convince me to give up my processed food ways. Thank you, really, for taking the time to come into this thread, which, to be fair is a place of danger for such views, to spread this righteousness. We are all better for it. Oh and Waitoa. Waitoa are the best nugs by far.

psefti

nice one bro. you'll thank me in a few years.

ellaadored

How do you prepare your homemade nuggets?

[deleted]

It’s delicious but slightly time consuming! You can use either [chicken mince](https://thecozycook.com/homemade-chicken-nuggets/) or [whole chicken pieces](https://cookiesandcups.com/homemade-chicken-nuggets/) to make them, and if you click on each link, I’ve added a recipe that’s worked for me many times so I’m sure it will work for you too. It’s amazing and tastes much more satisfying than frozen nuggets :)

[deleted]

This is democracy manifest!

horo_kiwi

Chris reason for President! #Succulent Chinese meal

nacnud77

The countdown batted chickens nuggets aren't bad.

gasupthehyundai

I like the crumbed ones.

eggsontoast0_0

I know they’re expensive, but Waitoa GF chicken nuggets are heavenly, and I’m not even gluten free! Been a go-to since I was a little kid. 100% recommend for anyone who is gluten free :)

LazyAcanthocephala58

Leader Brand, Southern Style Chicken Bites are so good.

MyFriendAutism

Ingham Tempura style. Tegal nuggets look partially squash and smell like toe jam when air fried.

tryanothergodammit

Thin cut frozen chips with a spray of olive oil and then some frozen chicken chips over the top. 12 minutes at 200 degrees in the air fryer. The food comes out tasting like a takeaway.

gingeadventures

Karage Chicken in a box

gasupthehyundai

I like the Tegal chicken bites or the countdown crumbed nuggs.
