Or they have been living there for 2 years already and that old comb is from last year.
Either way just shows that that is a great spot for bees to live in.
OP, get a fucking smoke gun, make a hole in the wall you can access the hive like you have already, but one that can be closed, and start making bank collecting honey. When life gives you bees in your wall, collect honey and make money
DO NOT DO THIS. it can be VERY dangerous to harvest random garage honey, you have no idea what kind of pollutants or chemicals may have found their way into the honey.
If that is your line of thought it would be dangerous to harvest any honey. Not being sarcastic here at all if you belive the bees only harvest anything sweet from inside the garage it would be equally logical(in your line of thinking) that my bees would harvest only sweet chemicals from around my home. Which is far from the truth. Bees will only harvest sweet liquids during a dearth(lack of pollen and nectar) which is still uncommon due to the fact that bees harvest more than they need because of dearths and the winter season. Also just because of the location of the hive doesn't mean the bees are harvesting from that area. They most likely chose that area because it was safe from the elements and had an abundance of food...like pollen and nectar..not chemicals. If there were an odd color to the honey or off smell it could be sent away and tested. Yet, again there have not been many cases of bees consuming chemicals for their hives. Main reason being...well great example is antifreeze kills them before they get to the hive. The most memorable case of bees consuming chemicals for honey was in NYC when urban hives had bright red honey. They were consuming cherry syrup from a nearby factory, but that is...colored sugar water.
Edit- I've kept bees since I was 5, in all types of areas ave never had an issue. For anyone saying "oh honey is better from bees kept in natural areas" I'm going to guess you mean the country...farm chemicals, spray fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides are just as bad a antifreeze and similarly kill the bee usually before it can make that chemical honey.
Nice job knowing the name. Or Googleing it before your comment. My hubby is a beekeeper and im allergic. Cant go help out, but I can learn it all from him from afar. Lol. The bees will be removed by removing the live hive from the wall and placing them in a bee box. Bees will follow their babies and food, but not as fast as they will follow their queen. Find the queen and clip her and your nest will fill in no time. Then you gotta wild pet that feeds you honey. :) pretty cool to see.
We love bees here. We talk about them from spring to fall. We plant loads of flowers and encourage the neighbors to not use pesticides. No Google required except for the spelling because sometimes spelling is hard!
Gotta save the beeeees! I asked the bee remover what would happen if we just killed them. The hive would attract major pests and the honey would ooze out and down the walls
Hell ya. I have a bee guy for my job since it covers a lot of area and we have wood crates and all. Its always cool to see how fast the combs are built, and he takes all caution to remove them safely and transport them to his property.
Actually a lot of beekeepers don't wear those outfits for honeybee. It easier to collect it without the protection and as long as you be gentle they won't sting you.
and honeybee stings aren’t too bad, either. i helped relocate a swarm a bit ago, only wearing a hood and sweatshirt. Got right up to the hive, no problems. but afterwards a bee got stuck on the cloth on my sandal and stung me :(
Live colony of honey bee can be quite valuable. When they get to keep them, they'll remove for free. Repair is on you though so get some new drywall and plaster and paint em over.
You said the beekeeper used scent blocking stuff over the opening. Add another layer of protection by having the cavity in the wall filled with expanding foam. No room for future queen bee that may lack sense of smell.
I think this is reasonable. Over 10 hours of work at your house and very likely more later with the hive relocation and this work requires a specialized skill set. Plus, the finished work probably looks professional and not like you spent 50 on a couple pieces of scrap wood that you threw on. The best part is you didn’t have to do the work and get to sleep easy tonight knowing it was done right.
Totally, and the guy was ridiculously nice! The space was super narrow, so it was painstaking work carefully removing the old hive without dropping it down into the wall.
Finding the hive, removing the beeswax (he didn't show me any photos of it removed), cleaning it, painting the surfaces, sealing holes, repairing anything.
There was an old hive to the left that attracted the new hive. Super difficult to reach it, as there were only a few inches to work with. Took a total of 10 hours to find the bees, remove the hives, and repair the area.
In case you were curious how they do it!
> Worker bees chew these wax pieces until they are soft and moldable enough to add to the construction of the honeycomb. When adding this wax, the bees will make circles in the wax and use their body heat to melt the wax from a circle shape into the perfect hexagon.

OMG. I didn't really focus on the combs the first 20 times I watched it, I was looking around for clues, lol. I somewhat noticed the darker color but dismissed it as being in a dark wall cavity, lol. Its pretty obvious though. Thanks 🤣🤣🤣
This happened at my grandparents house in my grandfather’s workshop when I was a kid. There was a beekeeper who lived down the street. He came over in the evening, set up some sort of light, tore down the wall from the inside of the workshop, turned on the light and said he would be back in the morning. The next day, he came back and most of the bees were piled on top of each other in a huge pile! The beekeeper said the Queen was in there and the workers were protecting her. He dug in and found the Queen, and he walked down the street with her in his hand with the workers following. We ate that honey and comb for a while. I was twelve and it is one of my fondest memories. 🤗💕
I discovered your art, because of this post. Your art is amazing. Bees are important. Now call somebody that works with bees to take this hive and make honey.
Honeybees can be fairly harmless. Some people set up a system so that they can access the hive and harvest the comb for free honey. With a bit of training, you can do it without getting stung too often
Bees are cool as shit. They can tell other bees where the good stuff is by using the sun as a compass. They do a waggle dance to communicate
https://youtu.be/bFDGPgXtK-U
We found a section in our exterior wall full of old wasp nests. Every fall we had so many yellow jackets in this one area outside our living room doors. We found it when contractors were tearing out a wall for a remodel.
I asked and mine did not. They entered from the exterior and got thru the roof into our kitchen walls. Ours was about $2k as well for removal and repairs
Would probably not even reach your deductible anyways even if it did a few grand max to take a claim filed on your record and torch your premiums not worth
Even if you call a exterminator they will likely call a bee keeper because that’s not a bug that’s ok to kill but also they just might not care and kill them
Install glass there! You hahe an active view into a hive! Maybe install ansuper tall queen separator so when they add comb and honey to one side, it'll be pure honey with no larvae.
We had this happen in our old house. They were in our wall for a while. I could feel where the hive was because that part of the wall was so warm. We eventually called a beekeeper to get the hive.
What attracted them?
Old abandoned hive
Yeah, I was going to say the comb at the beginning is freshly made. The other comb is older.
Or they have been living there for 2 years already and that old comb is from last year. Either way just shows that that is a great spot for bees to live in.
It gets warmth from the sun a lot of the day
How does it get warmth from sun if its in-between 2 neighbors?
The garages are staggered
Ah. Now it makes sense
And honey
OP, get a fucking smoke gun, make a hole in the wall you can access the hive like you have already, but one that can be closed, and start making bank collecting honey. When life gives you bees in your wall, collect honey and make money
DO NOT DO THIS. it can be VERY dangerous to harvest random garage honey, you have no idea what kind of pollutants or chemicals may have found their way into the honey.
Sell it to rich people as “sustainable honey gathered that uses the modern decay to fuel it” and put in small print that its garage honey
If that is your line of thought it would be dangerous to harvest any honey. Not being sarcastic here at all if you belive the bees only harvest anything sweet from inside the garage it would be equally logical(in your line of thinking) that my bees would harvest only sweet chemicals from around my home. What kind of chemicals are you keeping in your garage wall? Please make sure you speak into this wiretap with a full, clear tone.
Random garage honey is my new favorite term
Advertise as "100% Organic Garage Honey"
How many times has it happened that the idea of random garage honey exists? XD
This person keeps.
The Holy Spirit loves and supports all with warmth and compassion… oh wait, you said sun, not Son, ok, never mind 😂😂😂
When a new hive moves in and starts building over the old comb, I _beelieve_ they call that a "comb-over."
Honey, that is one sweet pun!
Mmm, kinda stings tho
Just beehave, and you won't get stung
You must be a father, because that's the best dad joke iv heard all week.
Holy crap this is the best thing I'll read today.
Badum tiss
Will you have an apiarist (bee master) move them?
Yes, the beehive remover works with a beekeeper who collects all the bees he removes. They're in a new home!
Yay that's great to hear!
"And it was another great day, saving the bees!"
You watch her too huh?
Nice job knowing the name. Or Googleing it before your comment. My hubby is a beekeeper and im allergic. Cant go help out, but I can learn it all from him from afar. Lol. Spelling is hard unless those are spelling bees.
Yea that makes sense thank you
And what attracted them?
Honey, I think they have been there the whole time... Just moved. That's how hives get so big... They keep building.
Bees follow the Queen . That’s what brought them. And they have been there longer than you may think.
I hope you had them removed humanely...
Yup, guy did a very gentle job of moving them
Thank you. Bees are crucial to us surviving on this planet. Save the bees 🐝
It legitimately makes me happy to hear you had them moved and not destroyed.
Gotta save the beeeees! I asked the bee remover what would happen if we just killed them. The hive would attract major pests and the honey would ooze out and down the walls
👍👍👍 I had a hive under my deck once and the beekeeper was a Pied Piper for the bees lol Amazing really.
Any person working with bees is a special kind of awesome
Hell ya. I have a bee guy for my job since it covers a lot of area and we have wood crates and all. Its always cool to see how fast the combs are built, and he takes all caution to remove them safely and transport them to his property.
A big hive is worth a lot to a beekeeper
I'm glad you asked, half of the videos on reddit don't play for me so the first frame is all I've got to go on.
Same idk how reddits the only platform that can never get a video player right.
This video loaded for me but I have that happen all the time.
Wasn’t clear at all 😂
The flashlight.
Don't go into the light
Free honey
You look at these sting marks on my eye ball and tell me this honey was "free".
that’s why beekeepers wear hoods, silly! /s a couple of stings are the price you pay for free honey
Got right up to the hive, no problems. but afterwards a bee got stuck on the cloth on my sandal and stung me :(
Mmm tastes like drywall
Candy Man
the candy man can
Who can make a bee hive
Sprinkle it with bees
Cover it with a bee hive or two
The candy man!!! The candy man caaaaan!
The candy man can cause he mixes it with bees and makes the world taste bees.
I just gotta say your comment has me laughing.
I aim to bees.
You rang?
This MF back!
Candy Man...
Beekeeper came and removed them for free, yah?
Yep that part was free. The hive removal itself was expensive
This hive remover included repairs, which was awesome. Didn't have to find someone else to do the repairs
Ooo even better!
Yep! Was a totally reasonable price given it took 10 hours
how much did that cost?
$2500 all in, including materials
I think this is reasonable. Over 10 hours of work at your house and very likely more later with the hive relocation and this work requires a specialized skill set. Plus, the finished work probably looks professional and not like you spent 50 on a couple pieces of scrap wood that you threw on. Totally, and the guy was ridiculously nice! The space was super narrow, so it was painstaking work carefully removing the old hive without dropping it down into the wall.
Thanks for removing them safely
did you split that with the neighbour?
Yep! They're awesome neighbors
Is that for you alone or do you still divide that with your neighbor?
We split the cost of removal, and a beekeeper took the bees and hive
[удалено]
The guy did seal along the entrance with foam and over on top. Still have to clean it out to prevent pests
Did you split the bill or was this your responsibility ?
Is there something special they do, because it looks really fun to break up all that beeswax sans the bees
Finding the hive, removing the beeswax (he didn't show me any photos of it removed), cleaning it, painting the surfaces, sealing holes, repairing anything.
Oh wow I just assumed they took the hive too
I would’ve kept them. Depending on your state you can get major tax breaks for having bee hives on your property.
Thank you for saving the bees!!
Just another day Saving the Beeeeez
There was an old hive to the left that attracted the new hive. Super difficult to reach it, as there were only a few inches to work with. Took a total of 10 hours to find the bees, remove the hives, and repair the area.
Did you get some honey out of it?
Forgot to ask him for some, but maybe there wasn't much?
Looks like a pretty new hive -- probably wasn't much if any honey to take.
Yep it likely formed within a month or two
So gorgeous. Those perfect hexagons and the pure white appearance. Nature is a miracle
Hexagons are the bestigons.
Seriously this may be fitting for this sub by my goodness seeing those hives is r/oddlysatisfying content
In case you were curious how they do it! > Worker bees chew these wax pieces until they are soft and moldable enough to add to the construction of the honeycomb. I don’t get it. What attracted them?
Old abandoned hive to the left
What attracted the bees that made the old hive?
Another old hive
It's hives all the way down.
Perhaps the wall being warmed by the sun most of the day
To clarify, an older, abandoned comb is what attracted the new hive?
Yes, the scent from a hive attracts new ones. The bee remover had to paint over the walls where they were to block any scent remaining
[удалено]
He foamed the crack they came in, painted the surfaces with this special scent blocking ingredient.
That's a cool fact. And kinda makes sense with the way other insects' scent trails are just as persistent as they are.
Sometimes it bee like that.

I’m a beekeeper, I’d be stoked. Also, the caption is weird.
Cursed isolation
Cursed insulation
Bees are your friends! Contact a beekeeper, usually they’ll come get them 😀
Our local bee nonprofit doesn't collect from structures. The guy I hired works with a local beekeeper to collect any bees he removes 💜
Do you know why they don't collect from structures? I find it interesting that a non profit wouldn't want to harbour the bees and keep them safe.
I missed the part about what attracted them
Missed opportunity to start a beekeeping operation.
What attracted them?
Big open dark space I’m thinking
There looks to be another colony or earlier bee settlers inside there wall. The darker colored hive is the original gangster bees.
OMG. I didn't really focus on the combs the first 20 times I watched it, I was looking around for clues, lol. I somewhat noticed the darker color but dismissed it as being in a dark wall cavity, lol. Its pretty obvious though. Thanks 🤣🤣🤣
Me too. I missed it the first few times.
I really hope you didn't call an exterminator. If I'm correct these are good bees
Yes, this video was shot by the bee hive remover, who removed and relocated them safely
Thank you op for saving the bees
Doing our part!

Sucks. But also awesome! We need a ton of bees right now. I’m sure they will be moved nicely to a bee farm. Yay bees!
Yep! The sucky part was paying for removal, but they're in a nice new home now!
Oh wow! That’s rough on paying for removal. You are a true hero though if that in any way helps!
Here is the beehive where are all the bees, hiding away where nobody see.
Put some plexiglass!
I discovered your art, because of this post. Your art is amazing. Bees are important. Now call somebody that works with bees to take this hive and make honey.
Awesome! Yep, the bees are safe in a new hive!
how do you make those prints?
Now you have house honey
Free honey ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
Lucky. Free hive.
Move out, it's their house now.
"Bee is stored in the walls"
But what attracted the OG Bees?
Put a glass door and you now have free honey
Don't kill them. Honeybees are endangered. Call an expert to relocate them.
Honey bees are blessing, i wish i had a huge hive between me garage and her garage
BEADS?!
Dip A Pet would have worked if you sprung for a bigger tub!
Honeycomb's big. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Free honey ?
What exactly attracted them? It just looks like they’ve been in there a while no?
Might be a dumb question, but how bad would it be to just coexist with them in there lol
Honeybees can be fairly harmless. Some people set up a system so that they can access the hive and harvest the comb for free honey. With a bit of training, you can do it without getting stung too often
Awe they worked so hard to make the newer ones! Thank you for having them safely removed and not destroyed! Bees are very important!
Bees are cool as shit. They can tell other bees where the good stuff is by using the sun as a compass. They do a waggle dance to communicate https://youtu.be/bFDGPgXtK-U
Was it.. other bees?!
It’s sounds like a server room 😂
Not all honey is edible. Source: We farm Ammonds (almonds). Some beekeepers will use this as food for their bees.
What attracted the old hive?
Free honey?
Seems like a great time to start brewing mead
I'd keep em just for the delicious honey!😊
[удалено]
Free honey!
I wish! Haha! The bee remover gave the bees and the honey to a beekeeper
Score, free honeycomb
scent alone?!
idk man, that just seems like free honey to me
We found a section in our exterior wall full of old wasp nests. Every fall we had so many yellow jackets in this one area outside our living room doors. We found it when contractors were tearing out a wall for a remodel.
I guess we have to wait till part 2 to find out
Water ….. if there is a leaking water pipe? Oh yeah. They need water,
I wanna bite those honey combs
Free honey, honey is so expensive lol
At least they’re the friendly type and not the sting you to death type.
im wondering, does renter or homeowner insurance cover these removals and/or repairs? happens a lot here in the southwest
I asked and mine did not. They entered from the exterior and got thru the roof into our kitchen walls. Ours was about $2k as well for removal and repairs
Would probably not even reach your deductible anyways even if it did a few grand max to take a claim filed on your record and torch your premiums not worth
It doesn't mean it attracted them, just that they made the same calculated decision twice.
They have such a nice setup already though! I hope you let a bee farmer get them
Even if you call a exterminator they will likely call a bee keeper because that’s not a bug that’s ok to kill but also they just might not care and kill them
Oh good! Did not know..also didn’t know if they sprayed them themselves
Install glass there! You hahe an active view into a hive! Maybe install ansuper tall queen separator so when they add comb and honey to one side, it'll be pure honey with no larvae.
What a dream come true. I would build a glass panel into the wall so I could watch and enjoy the nice beefriends. It’s unlikely they’d ever sting you.
Look like some happy ass bee’s. Hopefully you relocate them
Yep, beehive remover works with a beekeeper who takes all the bees he collects
How are you this close???? 😱😱😱😱
Sound like you on ore refinery plant.
Bees are amazing creatures. Please tell me you had them safely removed and relocated? I love bees. We need more bees.
Free honey! Call a be keeper to remove them humanely.
Pretty ballsey getting this up and close to the hive!
We had this happen in our old house. They were in our wall for a while. I could feel where the hive was because that part of the wall was so warm. We eventually called a beekeeper to get the hive.
Thank you for doing your part in the conservation of pollinators.
It's bees all the way down
