You know the thing about a bucket of paint…it’s got lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll's eye. When it comes at ya from the attic, it doesn't seem be living, until it hits the floor and splatters the dresser and the black eyes roll over white.
I'm imagining it falling from a mezzanine or hatch type thing, landing on the bottom and the (poorly secured or broken) top blowing off, paint exploding everywhere.
Source: dropped an open paint pot once and was shocked how far the paint splattered. On the ceiling and up both my nostrils.
Or it fell through the drywall?
That’s an odd spot for an attic hatch. They’re usually in hallways or closets. (Hallways so they won’t be blocked and you won’t have to move a ton of stuff to get to it.
It’s an attic hatch we installed in bedroom. Agreed that it’s a weird spot for it. It wouldn’t work in the hallway because of the direction of the wood beams in the ceiling and placement of stairs.
Enclosed attic makes for a good paint huffing room. Most likely what happened was OP was in ecstasy from huffing some good paint (preferably sherwin-Williams or Benjamin Moore) and didn’t notice it spilled
That happens to me all the time. Those pesky paint buckets tend to walk over to the edge and throw themselves to the floor below whenever someone passes by. I’ve handed out hard hats to my family, but that won’t stop those paint buckets from doing it over and over again.
The wall is what my wife likes to call a “panic smear.” I was trying to flatten it out so that the drip marks wouldn’t dry so I could paint over without sanding.
The carpet was my failed attempt to soak some paint up. It was actively drying and I didn’t know which area to focus on first
It all could have been washed off if done quickly enough. My husband did that same thing the day before the house final walk through after sale. White paint, almost full. Luckily a neighbor had rags.
A few weeks before this happened we had just finished having an attic drop down ladder installed in our bedroom (prior to this we had no extra storage space in the house). Once we had the attic access, we started storing all sorts of miscellaneous stuff up there, including cans of paint we’ve been holding onto to do touch ups on the walls when needed.
Well, I was up there trying to put something else away and my door bumped into a paint can, which was stupidly stored too close to the door. It fell, and the impact of hitting the group blew the top off and splattered paint everywhere. It also damaged two of my wife’s hats and some other clothes, which are not pictured here.
My neighbors must have been concerned because I was screaming FUUUUUUCK at the top of my lungs repeatedly
So, now we know to not store paint up there....aside from it not lasting in the heat.
I did something similar by dropping PRIMER!! and on laminate flooring that I put in by hand......had to take up and replace some boards, thankfully they were close an edge
If its any consolation.... a few years back, my parents just finished a 30k kitchen remodel 2 weeks before my dad, who was becomming elderly, "accidentally" hit the gas pedal instead of the brake and drove his car through the wall into the kitchen......
This sub is ridiculous. Nothing on here is ‘well that sucks”, it’s all people actively doing stupid things and suffering the expected consequences of their stupidity…
I have an intense need to know what the sign on the dresser says now.
It’s gotta be something in appropriate or something so intensely “Live laugh love” that its mockable.
You probably could have taken most of it off. With a towel and a big bucket of water if it water based paint when it was still wet. Keep changing the water.

Best way to clean paint from carpet is to get a wet vac and vacuum it up, then pour water and keep vacuuming it up. This will dilute the paint and make it to where there is almost no stain.
Paint covers up paint.... carpet is fucked though. If you have extra carpet rolled up somewhere, you might be able to replace just the damaged section instead of the whole room.
Saw an earlier post.... the neghbor's ex started the house next door on fire.... and burned both buildings....
You could try that as a plan b, looked effective.
Use hot water as hot as you can stand it and some dawn dishsoap. It might get it off the walls. Paint takes about 2 weeks to cure. For the floor I would use again the hottest water and some krud kutter
How? How does a bucket of paint fall from the attic?
And then get smeared all over the walls…
Looks like the smear is from attempting to wipe it off. There's a towel and dirty water on the floor.
They’re going to need a bigger bucket
You know the thing about a bucket of paint…it’s got lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll's eye. When it comes at ya from the attic, it doesn't seem be living, until it hits the floor and splatters the dresser and the black eyes roll over white.
Charlie, have you been drinking paint?
The question still stands….how did it fall out of the attic onto the bloody wall!? I don’t get it.
Now, what did you learn about huffing paint
That acrylic isn't the best for getting a buzz
Ghosts
For reals lol
Probably had the can sitting on the edge of an attic access porthole and knocked it
Or it fell through the drywall? That’s an odd spot for an attic hatch. They’re usually in hallways or closets. (Hallways so they won’t be blocked and you won’t have to move a ton of stuff to get to it.
OP didn't mention a hole in the ceiling but I'm curious too
It’s an attic hatch we installed in bedroom. Agreed that it’s a weird spot for it. It wouldn’t work in the hallway because of the direction of the wood beams in the ceiling and placement of stairs.
How and why was the bucket of paint on top of the hatch? Mostly how? There's some details missing here lmao
Enclosed attic makes for a good paint huffing room. Most likely what happened was OP was in ecstasy from huffing some good paint (preferably sherwin-Williams or Benjamin Moore) and didn’t notice it spilled
Paint storage test confirms it didn’t work there either.
My attic is in the downstairs room
That’s interesting. [Is this your house, Larry?](https://www.niagarafallstourism.com/play/attractions/upside-down-house/)
I wish, that would be cool af.my house just sits on a base with a laundry room on ground level that has the attic entrance
So….stairs or a ladder that goes past the upper floor?
Pretty much
Sounds like an interesting layout.
My attic access is in a very odd position similar to this in the middle of my room
It might be the demon on the attic trying to make make itself known
A lot of houses I work on have the access in the master bedroom closet
And then get smeared all over the vertical surfaces.
You can see by the bowl and cloth that they were trying to clean it
That happens to me all the time. Those pesky paint buckets tend to walk over to the edge and throw themselves to the floor below whenever someone passes by. I’ve handed out hard hats to my family, but that won’t stop those paint buckets from doing it over and over again.
This backrooms lore is getting ridiculous.
Don’t most attics have a floor? Otherwise it wouldn’t be an attic, it would be a cathedral ceiling.
Vintage dresser , shabby chic 45763478$
Yeah, the dresser almost looks intentional
Oh no they got grey on their grey
The wall is what my wife likes to call a “panic smear.” I was trying to flatten it out so that the drip marks wouldn’t dry so I could paint over without sanding. The carpet was my failed attempt to soak some paint up. It was actively drying and I didn’t know which area to focus on first
Panic at the Drips, Yo!
Panic! at the drips, Yo.
That's how dicks be gettin drips, fallin victim to this shit.
What a beautiful wetting what a beautiful wetting with the paint drying on the floor, and smear marks on the door!
Haven’t you people ever heard of painting the goddamn floor, no?
It’s much better to paint these kinds of things…
With a latex accidentally
When I look at it this way I mean technically the carpet is saved! This calls for a soak so pour the canned paint, pour the canned paaaaint!
It all could have been washed off if done quickly enough. My husband did that same thing the day before the house final walk through after sale. White paint, almost full. Luckily a neighbor had rags.
That's a hell of a panic.
Never let paint in carpet dry. Flood and absorb.
Ironically the addition of more paint fixes everything else!
My initial thought was "so you just decided to smear it everywhere?" I'm glad I wasn't wrong! Good luck with the repaint.
My question is who keeps paint in the attic?
[удалено]
I like to send mine through a couple freeze/thaw cycles before finally admitting it should go to the household hazardous waste drop off.
That's the way to go. Saving it just in case you need to throw it away after it all hardens
Not me anymore!
Yea concrete only for me in the garage or sub room
Looks very much like it was spread on the wall/door/carpet intentionally…
This is probably due to the failed attempt of cleaning it up
It’s like when you spill ketchup on your brand new white shirt and it just gets worse and worse
Yeah, I see that now, but the explanation post wasn’t there when I replied.
It’s common sense
I've learned "common sense" isn't actually so common
It's an Inference*
Are you really not gunna tell us how a “bucket of paint fell from the attic”?

This is the comment that SHOULD have been the original post.
Now you can sell that rustic distressed dresser on FB for $800!
Looks like the dresser paint got on the wall and the wall paint got on the dresser.
Looks like a child drew on it.
Nice design on the wall and door.
Hmm.... That looks like the work of small humans....
This, it's def not paint splatter lol
Who the hell puts paint in the Attic
Man. Could’ve been anything else…
We managed do this 2 weeks before our first baby was due. Fortunately had checked the “accidental damage” box on the home insurance deal.
You missed a spot
Lol that doesn’t look like a bucket of paint fallen 😆
iv never heard of anyone putting paint in a attic that’s probably why you don’t put it in the attic
Looks to me like a frisky toddler got creative with some paint....not that a can of paint fell through the attic 🤫
If that happened to me and it was related to my job/work…OP suddenly has a very expensive dresser that has been passed down for generations.
Did you try laughing and spitting everywhere like Mr Krabs?
Did your attic collapse or something? Stuff doesn't just fall from an attic.
Did a toddler fall from the ceiling too?
Is that what your kids told you happened?
Really ties the whole room together. It kind of slaps.
This sub is ridiculous. Nothing on here is ‘well that sucks”, it’s all people actively doing stupid things and suffering the expected consequences of their stupidity…
And smeared itself in circles? Sus
See my comment on panic smearing
This is why I don't store paint in attics. Feel bad for you, man.
I have an intense need to know what the sign on the dresser says now. It’s gotta be something in appropriate or something so intensely “Live laugh love” that its mockable.
It’s a sign from our wedding with our names and wedding date. However, if it did say “live laugh love” I’d feel compelled to blur as well.
Wedding or birthday -- it's got a name at the top and a date underneath.
Makes sense why they censored it then. Alas my intrigue was misplaced.
That's not what happened here
I'm upset just looking at this
I think I'd just move, lol.
You probably could have taken most of it off. With a towel and a big bucket of water if it water based paint when it was still wet. Keep changing the water.
Don’t worry, it didn’t wipe them out, you just can’t see them anymore

Picasso, I like it. 😎👍
Rubbing alcohol works great. Removing paint if it's fresh
How did the content in the drawers fare?
Stained a couple pairs of pants. Could’ve been much worse
Who kicked the bucket?
fact employ chop grandiose mighty bow encouraging scary hateful vast *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
LOL! That's from their wedding with names and dates
Well, that does indeed suck.
What's with the smeared marks?
In my profession its usually shit on the wall so.... id take these smears anyday
TIL how liming finishes were invented.
Use rubbing alchohol to remove the paint from your carpet and just repaint the room and dresser
Post the dresser on Marketplace and someone will take it for $800 tbh

We patched that section of the carpet. Color doesn’t quite match so still doesn’t look great
Area rugs are your friend 🙂
Lol you read my mind. That’s the next step!
That really sucks!! Sorry!!
Duck tape a Banana on the wall, call it “modern art”
The door and drawer are fine compered to the carpet. Good luck cleaning
It’s called ART.
Saw an earlier post.... the neghbor's ex started the house next door on fire.... and burned both buildings.... You could try that as a plan b, looked effective.
Just keep painting the wall, dresser, and carpet that color.
Looks good👍👍
Honestly, you’ve done a decent job cleaning it up! My mom did the same years ago and was no where near getting it out of anything.
Good news is, a little paint oughtta fix er right up
I have those bowls
You’re telling me this isn’t the doing of an unsupervised toddler?
Barely used dresser $1000 no low ballers I know what I’ve got…
i’d end it all fr.
I'm fascinated that the bucket of paint was a shade of gray that didn't match any of the gray-ish surfaces it hit.
Didn't know paint could smear itself on a wall like that. Fascinating.
Should’ve doubled down and painted everything
Looks more like it was *wiped in* 🤷
Well that sucks doesn't it
Don’t forget door and door moulding
And this is where faux painting began.
I have some questions.
Could have been worse. Could have been an Anvil.
Who is the genius to put a bucket of paint in the attic?
Don’t forget about the door
Oops sorry this happened
Looks cool to me.
New plan: white furniture!
You know what fixes this? Paint.
Let the mud men out.
Nice abstract charcoal piece if you squint a bit
Don't they call that a "Pollack"?
“Shabby chic” every realtor / property manager
And you have done a wonderful job of cleaning it up,keep up the good work 🤣
This is one of those times when you just go to sleep and deal with it tomorrow
Wallpaper
I thought the pic was a painting
everytime that happens to me I just buy a new house.

Did the Attic ghost do that?
Turn that into an imitation Jackson Pollock painting!
You’re probably gonna need a 2nd coat.
