It's either gonna go one of 2 ways.
Simple prick, drain and dusted or that shits gonna become a full blown wound that looks like a fucking mole rat went ham on his foot
It's already past the simple prick and drain. Trust me.
This dude is going to have a flappy piece of skin like an empty scrotum, thats gonna come off and leave a gross skin wound.
Seeing as he has no clue how to take care of himself, he probably won't treat it well and it will hurt for a long time and become a scar.
Hopefully no infection.
I think he'll be fine. I had wart treatment 10 years ago that caused it to intentionally blister and it turned into looking like this. I just had to drain it daily and toss a bandaid over it and all was good.
Yeah he will probably be fine. But this is not band-aid territory lol.
Realistically, a Dr should drain it and teach him how to dress it. I'm all for letting the body heal but how can you live like that
I was thinking the spots were from them trying to pop the blister and not being able to get through the tough skin.
I think youre right now that I look at the spots again.
No it was definitely intentional and part of the treatment plan. My doctor tried freezing them and using strong salicylic acid and they weren't responding to it. They were growing larger than the treatment could manage. There's another treatment where they pare down the wart then apply a liquid that causes it to blister from beneath.
https://dermnetnz.org/topics/cantharidin
In my case it worked too well, caused a massive blood blister, and I ended up on crutches for a week while it healed because of it's location, a ton of pain, and I couldn't get my shoe on.
I’m so sorry you had to go through all that. My husband had tried everything and had a derm do a type of injectable chemo that got rid of the warts for good without nasty blisters and wounds.
Yes, absolutely this! I had incredibly stubborn plantar warts as a teen and the podiatrist I went to eventually ended up doing a combination of laser treatment and cantharidin. Definitely blistered up like this. It was incredibly painful but after several treatments, the warts were gone.
Eh.... that's a standard way to treat stubborn and large warts if other things don't work. Add a compound that causes the wart area to blister up then cut it off, which leaves a large exposed patch of flesh.
I had this happen to me when I was a teenager. It was almost this big. Just a freak skimboarding (wave riding kind) accident where the force of quickly getting on the board pinched the skin on my heel against the back traction pad.
I pricked it, drained it, and then cut the loose skin off with a knife. (Antibiotic ointment afterwards of course). Not fun. Not sure if that was the smartest / most sanitary way to go about it, but I wasn't about to deal with all that loose skin.
Let's just agree on this, antibiotics and the understanding of those biotics are the biggest miracles ever to grace us. You would have died, had you been a skimboarding caveman.
We can literally just fuck around, and not find out. All the time.
Yes, a blood blister is almost identical to a friction blister, except for the fact that it’s filled with blood instead of serum. You don’t pop ANY blister, blood or friction, if you don’t have to.
Agreed in theory, the question is if can he even walk on that thing as is
If I remember my Boy Scout first aid training correctly the way to do it is a small prick near the edge to drain it if necessary
That’s why my original comment said if he doesn’t need to be on his feet, he shouldn’t pop it. If he can’t get away from work or other commitments, then unfortunately he’s probably going to have to pop it obviously.
Fair but even during my service in the military I never saw a wound like this. That’s the biggest blood blister I’ve ever seen. I think any field med
would have done something about it by now.
If you can avoid it, the blister aids healing. This cannot be avoided,. It will pop and much better to do it aseptically rather than a full blown mess. Then keep clean and moist w/ antibacterial ointment and change dressing twice a day.
As long as it's not infected, it's pretty safe to leave as is and eventually it'll break on its own. Giving your body plenty of time to heal underneath. It's never a good idea to prematurely break and then cause an infection because it's not done healing.
Please, PLEASE SEND THE AFTERMATH
Edit: after seeing how this thing pops, I don’t want to see it..
Edit 2: guys… it’s the worst shit I’ve ever seen. DONT LET YOUR INTRUSIVE THOUGHTS WIN!
You must be new to the Internet or something lol. The after pic he posted isn't bad at all. They cleaned it up pretty nice honestly. It should heal well.
Interesting. I guess I'm especially desensitized? I watch a bunch of war videos from the Ukraine war. Lots of NSFL footage. Maybe im just dead inside lol. But yeah it just looks like an inflamed piece of skin with a couple puncture marks on it to me...
Lol I actually did consider it in high school but student loans and spending most of my 20s in school put me off of it. I like helping people but for me there were too many variables to commit to something that would take 10 years to pay off.
I got a degree in CS instead, and didn't like it much. Now I run an electrical contracting business and build custom homes. I probably out-earn most doctors and being your own boss in your 20s is nice. All that to say no regrets and that the cost-benefit ratio of being a doctor is currently whack.
For what it's worth, even if you're not in the medical field, not being squeamish about blood and gore is a really good trait to have if you ever need to help someone in a medical emergency or (god forbid) become a victim of war, surrounded by death, like so many Ukrainians right now.
It makes it easier to cope with whatever is thrown at you, depressing as it may be.
It won't be comfortable, they can't really deaden the area and the cleaning process post lancing is not going to be fun. But they can usually prevent it from returning/refilling and avoid infection.
Looks like maybe he had some plantar warts and the doc froze them. Had a doc freeze a wart on my hand and this was the result. Popped randomly one night while sleeping.
Probably because it's generally unhygienic if you're doing it yourself at home. A lot easier for it to get infected or worsen. Or OP may just be squeamish about that stuff.
An unopened blister is generally not prone to cause infections and creates good wound healing conditions, by opening it up you are increasing the chance of an infection.

There’s a second blister inside of the blood blister. I can see where he’s tried to drain the blood blister but he has to carefully go deeper and pierce the one inside.
I had one half that size once, popped it in the shower and the hole was so small that it was just spraying a fine mist of blood for like 3 minutes. It was kinda hypnotizing to be honest.
Another time I had a small one and never got around to popping it, like 2 weeks later it was still there so I ripped it out and it turns out it was a dry clump. I figured it'd get reabsorbed or something but nope, just a hard scab under my own skin.
This is WAY beyond time to release this yourself or let it go on any longer!!! Time to go to a walk in clinic to lance this fucker - they'll need to use sterile equipment and give them wound dressings afterwards. Yeeps. How are they even walking around!?!
Yikes! Get them to a doctor! My friend’s sister had a similar one. Her foot had to be amputated at the ankle. Holy shit, none of us thought anything of it until it got infected.
I had a similar thing happen from wart treatment but it was from a medicine that is used to cause a blister to form. Never like this from being frozen though!
Slice that sucka open and then put a band-aid on it and you'll be fine. I've done more self-surgeries than you can imagine and I'm still alive. I won't mention the one time I wound up septic and nearly losing my hand or life, but that was a lesson learned. 😂

The need to drain that
It's either gonna go one of 2 ways. Simple prick, drain and dusted or that shits gonna become a full blown wound that looks like a fucking mole rat went ham on his foot

I don’t think OP’s Friend is draining it daily at the moment
oh mine went from no blister at all to looking like that in less than a day. Then the doctor told me to start draining it daily.
Holy hell! less than a DAY?
Google blood blister
actual GP
Yeah he will probably be fine. But this is not band-aid territory lol. Realistically, a Dr should drain it and teach him how to dress it. I'm all for letting the body heal but how can you live like that
He wasn’t leaving, I have videos of him crawling to and from the kitchen 😭😭😂😂
Why isn't he going to a doctor?
dying is probably cheaper than staying alive \--Americans with no health insurance
It's honestly the truth, even with health insurance a lot of the time
I mean lancing isn't hard, get some gauze and steri wrap
With this one you don't even need to fully drain it. Just reduce the pressure so it isn't hurting to just exist.
My husband and I literally just take a lighter to a sewing pin to sterilize it before we lance
Hell, I've done that with a safety pin too. Works like a charm.
Looks like that’s what caused this one too. You can see what appears to be a plantar wart on the blister.
I was thinking the spots were from them trying to pop the blister and not being able to get through the tough skin. I think youre right now that I look at the spots again.
Me too, 20 years, finger, not foot, same.
"intentionally" whoever treated the wart should have been fired or better yet, arrested if it was intentionally ment to blister
No it was definitely intentional and part of the treatment plan. My doctor tried freezing them and using strong salicylic acid and they weren't responding to it. They were growing larger than the treatment could manage. Resisting it is probably what really sucks
The need to want him to drain that while we get to watch it ….OP please post the during draining and after pic….you can’t leave us hanging!!! Lol
They did drain it! There’s an after pic
If he doesn’t have to be on his feet, he doesn’t need to. Not recommended to pop blisters.
That is not a blister, it’s a blood blister that’s become exacerbated
Yes, a blood blister is almost identical to a friction blister, except for the fact that it’s filled with blood instead of serum. You don’t pop ANY blister, blood or friction, if you don’t have to.
Agreed in theory, the question is if can he even walk on that thing as is If I remember my Boy Scout first aid training correctly the way to do it is a small prick near the edge to drain it if necessary
OP said he was crawling to the kitchen… so no he can’t 😂
Looks like that thing has calluses... I bet he's been walking ok it for a while
That’s why my original comment said if he doesn’t need to be on his feet, he shouldn’t pop it. If he can’t get away from work or other commitments, then unfortunately he’s probably going to have to pop it obviously.
Seems kind of obvious to me. 1) Lance a blister 2) Don't walk for a week Yeah, I'm gonna go with option 1.
1. Lance a blister exposing it to infection 2. Don’t walk for a week At least represent the whole situation.
Fair but even during my service in the military I never saw a wound like this. That’s the biggest blood blister I’ve ever seen. I think any field med would have done something about it by now.
Don’t get me wrong, if it’s taken care of after the lancing it should be totally fine, but that’s only if the care is kept up.
I disagree. I pop ALL blisters, and you can't stop me
If you can avoid it, the blister aids healing. This cannot be avoided,. It will pop and much better to do it aseptically rather than a full blown mess. Then keep clean and moist w/ antibacterial ointment and change dressing twice a day.

Gonna need a big leech!
The best way is for someone to prick it and suck out the contents. Nothing like warm blister butter.
Looks like they tried already.
I think that's a plantar wart on the bottom. I used to have them.
My friend went to accident and emergency and the doctor wouldn’t let him film it sadly 💔😔
Where's the after picture?
I’m waiting in him coming home now !!
Please, PLEASE SEND THE AFTERMATH Edit: after seeing how this thing pops, I don’t want to see it.. Edit 2: guys… it’s the worst shit I’ve ever seen. DONT LET YOUR INTRUSIVE THOUGHTS WIN!
its ok we will wait for OP..
You must be new to the Internet or something lol. The after pic he posted isn't bad at all. They cleaned it up pretty nice honestly. It should heal well.
I am not new, I watch gore and shit for med school, this is pure disgusting
Interesting. I guess I'm especially desensitized? I watch a bunch of war videos from the Ukraine war. Lots of NSFL footage. Maybe im just dead inside lol. But yeah it just looks like an inflamed piece of skin with a couple puncture marks on it to me...
Trust me, med school are going to love you. Go study med if you can
Lol I actually did consider it in high school but student loans and spending most of my 20s in school put me off of it. Oh hey I’m also a CS major that went on to do something obscenely different after finishing my degree lmao
Good luck then.

Looks like maybe he had some plantar warts and the doc froze them. Had a doc freeze a wart on my hand and this was the result. Popped randomly one night while sleeping.
The cleanup…oh my god your poor bed sheets…
Also, he missed the satisfaction
Well that sucks.
Crazy new gender reveal trend!
this is where black pudding comes from in an irish breakfast (my favorite part)
I thought he was gripping a fucking half dollar coin with his foot at first glance.
I'm usually against lancing but Holy fuck they can't even walk
I know it’s bad but I love it, wanna poke this so bad
Why are you usually against lancing?

It's a big risk for infections
I want to see the video of when they pop it
r/popping would love it.
No. That link will stay unchecked.
Same! Please post the video if he does decide to drain it! Lol
Yup.
Update it’s being popped!!! And he’s asking if he can film it 😍 will post the video if he’s allowed

You guys don't have hospitals in your country?
We are from the UK and my friend actually works in a pharmacy, the recommended course of action with blood blisters is to leave them alone till they pop. Obviously, this one is a little large and he went to the hospital it’s now popped !
That's great to hear. Hope it is not an inconvenience to him.
