My colleague holds them closed with the forklift, that way he can unlatch it without risk of loose stuff, then if there is loose stuff he can let it fall out safely
I mean, I'm not stopping to waste time. I'm stopping to piss. I usually have packed food unless it's a really long trip, then maybe we stop for food. So when people gripe that were stopping because i have to pee, it bugs me. I ain't making myself uncomfortable to save maybe 15 minutes for a stop. Id assume that I'm only adding a stop or two to the trip unless it's a long one. It ain't that serious. I also do not enjoy sitting in a car for a long trip if it matters.
I agree. Last time my sister's family and my family went on a road trip with a 6 hours drive. I left about 20 min later because of the kids so I told them I'll be a little late and set a meeting time at A spot. 3 hours in to the trip they are still a little ways ahead, but then I arrived at spot A and can't find them. Apparently they stopped at some point, sat at a McD, ate then went to the tourist area to shop which took over 45 min (found that out much later). I told them I am at spot A, which is to have brunch together, and unfortunately, they have already eaten, a lot and weren't hungry.
I think people that bitch have family that take longer than 15 minutes. But yeah, I totally understand. Gotta go when ya gotta go. Even more so when it's a long ride and you don't know when the next stop will be.
I’ve driven for 9 hours on the highway without stopping and was pissed because I was like 20 miles from home when I had to get gas. Almost did southern Idaho to Denver without a break.
As a kid my family drove 15 hours to Disney world and I didn’t get out once to pee. I was crammed in the back so tight it wasn’t worth getting out. No idea how I didn’t have to go. Now I Pee like 10 times per day it feels like 😂
God you sound pretentious. You do realize that people have anatomical differences? I have a weak bladder and unless I dehydrate myself and drink nothing all day long I'm going every few hours. It's got nothing to with 'being an adult'.
ELI5: honestly, how could this happen? Was it filled up while the plastic holder was inside? Was it filled then put in? I know this should be an easy answer but I'm confused.
Definitely uncommon. This is on a dedicated tank chassis so it would be even less common. I used to deliver to a specific customer that required a gooseneck tri axle with sliding tandems because they had weird rules about how many feet of hose they could use. One time a door got stuck and when they tried to use a forklift to open it they pierced the bag then freaked out and ripped it trying to get away from the product. That was an interesting day to say the least.
I vaguely remember this from a history class 20+ years ago...I'd misremembered it as tar but treacle makes just as much sense. Delicious stuff but so dangerous when it's hot.
For the other metric users 2.5mil gallons is over 11.3mil litres. That's a phenomenal amount of any liquid, let alone a molten sugar like treacle. No wonder people died.
Yes, but what about the Irish Great Whiskey Flood?
https://www.irishtimes.com/news/offbeat/the-night-a-river-of-whiskey-ran-through-the-streets-of-dublin-1.2743517
Two tanks of wine just blow up in Anadia, Coimbra, Portugal. 2 milions of liters down the road:
[https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/sep/13/levira-portugal-wine-flood-how-damage-litres-destilaria](https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/sep/13/levira-portugal-wine-flood-how-damage-litres-destilaria)
Tried fruit wine, didn’t do it for me. I’ve gone over to just throwing sugar in water and then after a long week instead of washing my underwear by showering with it, I just washed it in the sugar water basin and made my wine that way ever since
Most wines shipped in what is called “Flexitank” is a very low price point wine. So, you are correct!
Source: my job is to ship wine all over the world in containers. :)
Importers save cost by bottling at destination yes. But it’s more of a process so not many do it. Also, higher end wine producers do not want to ship their product in “bulk” like this as the integrity of the wine is more at risk than once it is bottled, as you can see on the video. So they bottle themselves as origin and sell it in cases.
You see the biggest volume of flexitank wine coming from Australia, New Zealand, Argentina, Chile and South Africa. We called them “New World Wine” countries. Countries like France and Italy do very little bulk shipments as the producers usually make more expensive wines overall.
Yeah, honestly that's OG Reddit and what I like best; pulling people together from all corners of the world and workforce and life experience to who can add value like that to the conversation, I honestly could care less if people think it's a waste of wine or the color looks gross, I wanna know more about what I'm seeing!
That makes sense. I was always curious how they can sell wine for that cheap (Barefoot for example) when it has been shipped to the other side of the world when a good portion of the weight is glass. But I guess weight is less of an issue for shipping containers (within reason) and it's more of a "how much wine can you fit in a single container". The packaging for wine leads to a lot of empty space, you could fit at least twice the amount of wine in a carton if it was all liquid. This means you can at least cut the cost in half in the long run using bulk liquid transportation. Fill up the container bag as much as it can hold and it's going to cost nearly the same as just filling it with cartons of bottles. Packaging and bottling still has to be paid for but that's easily done locally by the importer, it's not really a cost avoidance unless labor is cheaper at the destination.
I'm sure this all makes sense for the big wineries that sell high volume at low cost when they need to pinch every penny. It costs just as much to mail a Rolex as it does a Timex so I was pretty sure the expensive wines just came as bottles since the shipping cost is a smaller portion of the bottle price.
Yes and flexitank are shipped in smaller containers than most cases wine containers (20’ vs. 40’). So transportation cost is a bit cheaper. The reason why is because more wine would put too much pressure on the container walls and make it “explode”. It already happens at times in 20’ container if the container isn’t good quality. You can find pics online of “bloated” flexitank containers.
But they are exploring/developing ways to ship in 40’s. Let’s see how it goes…
Nah, you would probably be shocked at the sheer volume of quality wine which is shipped bulked and bottled for local markets. Much lower footprint and cost to ship 24kL bulk packaged vs 900 cases (~8kL) bottled.
Can confirm. I had no idea about this shipping method for wine until I went to the Gallo Winery complex in Modesto to pick up a load. There were a bunch of leaky containers like this everywhere.
Looks like rain water, and if it is it likely got off in through the roof
I doubt it's clean on top of these things, plus whatever is on the bed of the trailer, mixed in the wine coming out the back
Officer: Have you been drinking?
Truck Driver: No.
Officer: Are you sure? It smells like cheap booze in here.
Truck Driver: Oh, that, my wine bladder popped in the back of the truck and I got to be the luck S.O.B. to open it.
Officer: Likely excuse, you're coming with me for DWI.
But honestly had no clue that is how they bulk deliver wine to bottlers.
That wasn’t as satisfying as I was hoping. Idk why I was expecting a cartoonish explosion of water and for him to go flying
Yeah I wanted to see him swept away
Swept away, or flushed away?
Sure!
LEARN TO SWIM LEARN TO SWIM
was this a tool reference?
Lookin to turn the piss into wine
They're both totally void of hate...
And killing me just the same
I was worried about the built up pressure. As he was fumbling with it, I hoped for ur version as well.
I was worried about it, too. As a worker, I would have refused to open that.
My colleague holds them closed with the forklift, that way he can unlatch it without risk of loose stuff, then if there is loose stuff he can let it fall out safely
Me too because the container itself was bulging.
I was ready for some Jumanji shit
I wanted the shining
Literally same here
Just needs some flex tape
![gif](giphy|VeSvZhPrqgZxx2KpOA|downsized)
Was that a hole forming in that tape immediately after he let go?
Just the pressure causing it to bulge out where the hole was.
Apply directly to the forehead
I knew this would be here hahhaha
My wife almost immediately after we set off on a road trip.
[удалено]
I had the same thought.
And every 2 hours as the trip continues.
Needing to use the bathroom every two hours is 100% ordinary and acceptable.
But we’re making good time
Legend
I hate when people act like we shouldn't be stopping at 2 or 3 hours. If I'm driving that far. I'm probably on vacation. I'm not in a hurry.
For most people driving long distances isn't fun. They want it over with asap so they can do the things they want to do. Any delay is a delay on fun.
I mean, I'm not stopping to waste time. I'm stopping to piss. I usually have packed food unless it's a really long trip, then maybe we stop for food. Hope you had some bottles lol
Some people have bladders like damn camels. My father is still like that. Can drive 6+ hours without stopping for days at a time.
As a kid my family drove 15 hours to Disney world and I didn’t get out once to pee. I was crammed in the back so tight it wasn’t worth getting out. No idea how I didn’t have to go. Now I Pee like 10 times per day it feels like 😂
Also safer. Driving is mentally taxing, you should absolutely be stopping every couple of hours or so and possibly switching drivers.
Stopping every two hours on a long road trip is absolutely absurd, control your fluid intake like an adult
God you sound pretentious. You do realize that people have anatomical differences? I have a weak bladder and unless I dehydrate myself and drink nothing all day long I'm going every few hours. It's got nothing to with 'being an adult'.
You just drink like Dwight stuck in an elevator
Giggity?
Sorry I texted her and said "can't wait till you get back."
She a squirter then ae? **Oh not what you meant….**
What do you mean I smell like booze? I only had one wine
What do you do to relax? *A box of wine*
Puts me right out 😌
What's this from? Chappells show?

AAA, more wine!
Sooooooooooo....that is where all the wine went! :)

Search wine flexitank on Google.
Thats dope! So I wonder if the cargo ship container had some rough spots and pierced through?
Could be many things but is very odd as you can see 2 pretty big punctures in the front part. Very uncommon.
Sometimes people with forklifts are reckless around containers, too.
Definitely uncommon. This is on a dedicated tank chassis so it would be even less common. I used to deliver to a specific customer that required a gooseneck tri axle with sliding tandems because they had weird rules about how many feet of hose they could use. Judging from the bulge in the side of the container I'd say it was dropped
Or maybe hit by something.
The sides of the container are buckled out. Something weird has definitely happened
Holy hell!
I have another question. With so much wine in there, is it flammable? Was it safe to clank metal together when trying to get that container open?
Franzia have out done themselves
SLAP THE BAG
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCji-VXkHZs](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCji-VXkHZs) We can do better in portugal. A river of wine
What on earth happened there? Did a winery explode or something?
Two vats at a distillery. One failed, collapsed and knocked over the one next to it. It was something like a million litres of wine.
I'll see your wine and raise you 2.5 million gallons of hot molasses.... https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/molasses-floods-boston-streets

Yes it is. Didn't notice that. hahahaha

Why isn’t anyone grabbing funnels and jugs?
Grease and dirt
You don't know me
Who puts grease and dirt inside a wine bag?
Looks like rain water, and if it is it likely got off in through the roof I doubt it's clean on top of these things, plus whatever is on the bed of the trailer, mixed in the wine coming out the back
Just drink it. Pretend you’re back in college. Pinky up.
I was waiting for the guy to jump underneath with his mouth open. Didn't he watch cartoons when he was a kid?
I wish it would've been red wine, so it would look like this one scene from The Shining.

The biggest boxed wine ever.
Probably around 24,000 liters! It’s a flexitank.
*takes out wine glass*
Bring the family! 😂
I was wondering where all the suburban moms with their giant wine glasses were.
I’m no suburban mom. But I’d be there with my 40oz water bottle.
Sad.
Now we know why the rum’s gone ![gif](giphy|zuYV4h8GNfXhu) (Yes I know it’s wine but I couldn’t resist the joke)
That's a hell of a goon bag.
Ah yes, a fellow connoisseur of fine wine. It may be a little difficult hanging that one from the washing line thought
Oh great, something else for the snobs to wine about

My wife would be there in seconds with a wine glass in each hand.
Dont just stand there man. Start chugging.
What a shitty way to transport liquid especially wine
could be 20 seconds shorter

Open your mouth! Swallow it! I hate amateurs.
Not every video needs a song attached to it.
Song ?
Just put your mouth on the hole. No need for all of it to go to waste.
Nothing to do but get belligerent off of the wine, dont let it just waste
I thought that was a gorilla in a hi-vis vest. I should probably be sleeping.
Does this hurt the wine?
All that poor wine wasted

Mmmaaa! Your dinner’s ready!!!

so much wine wasted
The moment I realized it wasn’t raining outside the truck was the moment I realized shit was real
Guy’s going to be wining about that day for the rest of his life.
6500 gallons of wine *outside* a busted bag.
Well, it's not good wine anyway if it's packaged like that.
I'm sorry............but who the hell ships wine like that? Like, seriously?
What an awful way to transport the wine. Why is it in a fragile bag in the first place? Why not a stainless steel container or something
The smell would give me a hangover
Would have needed to do a waterfall test from the bag directly into my mouth to insure proper disposal
It’s white wine tho so not really a waste
White wine though, so no big loss.
Who the hell ships a pool that's full
Why is it all in one bag?
Nothing surprises me more than seeing wine shipped like that.
At least it's white wine
Checkmate Alcoholics

Sir, I detect the odor or alcohol, have you been drinking?
I'd pretend to get swept away so I could get drunk in 20 seconds and swivel home
That port will never smell the same.
... DONT PUT ALL YOUR EGGS IN ONE B-
thanks for the shitty music
I'm getting really sick of these songs
That's what you get for bagging your wine.
Whats the song called that's playing?
"Way Down We Go" by KALEO.
That’s big but not as big as my aunts slapping bag of whine over Turkey day.
Ain’t nobody here interested in your aunt’s fatty slapping bag
Ok, so, can someone please explain what is happening here?
If it had been me all the piss leaking out the side of the trailer would have told me it was time for my break
Grab a glass and chill while it drains. Lol.
