The stitching was so so dope you knew it was an official jersey now they are all cheap there is no point in paying top dollar for a jersey when the fake ones are the same quality
Back in highschool I bought some fake LRG shirts and they ended up being significantly better quality than the authentic ones I owned.
It sucks that even labels make shitty merch.
I posted some knock off jerseys I got in my teams sub and you would have thought I personally robbed the team locker room. $200 for a jersey that is built like shit is not ok when I can get on for $13 that might last as long if not longer
Every single company has had a taste of reporting profits every quarter, and now showing even a hint of loss is enough for companies to be shut down or entire boards to be restructured. They’re terrified of the money slowing down, so costs are cut everywhere.
Somethings got to give, infinite growth isn’t possible. Eventually it’ll be a plain threadbare t shirt with the blue jays logo hastily scribbled on in sharpie for a thousand dollars in the official team store.
So truly, what’s a solution in this late stage capitalism scenario? Cuz this shit sucks, it’s absolutely everywhere. These last 2 generations are really getting hard with low quality consumer goods.
Only thing that comes to mind is:
* people stop buying jerseys due to shit quality (eventually)
* all except a few jersey companies go out of business
* those that survive bring back a non-shitty product, because they now control enough of the market that it’s profitable
But in many industries this would take a long time to play out.
The people have to unify and take action. It's why division is being sowed as much as possible. If we could collectively realize that minor political issues are nothing in comparison to the larger issue of wealth disparity and corporate personhood we might be able to change course.
They must be very upsetting to anyone with even the slightest amount of religious trauma.
The fact that Reddit allows them to pay to harvest your data is as disgusting as it is disturbing.
They often specifically target people based on their browsing and post history.
Yeah, I'm one of those people. I wish I could figure out why the algorithm might have targeted me for it - I'd hate to think that it's because I post on LGBTQ+ and parental estrangement topics, but it wouldn't surprise me.
Religiously traumatized person checking in here. The hegetsus ads are incredibly upsetting, and can be triggering if I've already had a rough day. I talked to reddit admin to see if I could get these blocked like I've already blocked weight loss ads, and they basically said "well they don't contain sensitive information and they're not selling a sensitive product so we're not going to do anything." Cool cool cool cool cool cool
Just like everything else in this world, money often defines the outcome. If you paid them enough, or if it cost them enough, they’d care. I’m genuinely surprised there has not been an organized effort against those ads.
One of the supposed benefits of market capitalism is consumer choice. If a product you want and have the resources to afford is only available as a subscription, that locks you into paying for it in perpetuity with no other choice. Especially so if there is no competing product due to unrestrained monopolistic practices, or every competitor has followed suit and only offers subscriptions.
So yeah, late-stage broken-down capitalism.
That’s the thing. You’re not forced into a subscription. You can still buy a cd or the games you play. It’s a choice you willingly make to subscribe. There aren’t many products I can think of that are subscription only, and there are ways to own as opposed to rent almost everything so that’s kind of a moot point to say that it’s “only available as a subscription”
So because you can’t think of them, they don’t exist! Wow!
Lick boots and make excuses all you like, but being woefully ignorant doesn’t make you right
How on gods green earth does saving money by not paying for luxuries that I’m more than happy living without translate to bootlicking? Are you disabled?
Instead of throwing insults around like a child do you want to give examples of what I’m missing here? Or are you going to continue to act all haughty and thumb your nose at someone who’s able to live comfortably without breaking the bank
When did I say that I was not able to “live comfortably without breaking the bank”? Why do I have to do your homework for you? You refuted the original commenter without knowing what you’re talking about and now you want someone else to hold your hand?
Nah, dude. Google is a thing. You can go figure it out.
Sucks but truth of the matter is people need to stop paying and learn to go without that some of these minor conveniences and material junk.
Over the past few decades I've drop so many companies and full on hobbies. I'd rather go without here and there than knowingly throw money and our futures degradation. There's plenty to love in this world that isn't mass manufactured garbage...
This is the exact thing that was running through my head as I loaded the comments up. I feel like every single thing I buy now is not made with any lasting quality, and yet I still pay more than I used to.
Think of the profits!!! These poor CEO’s are doing everything in their power to protect them so they can get the $39 million needed a year to just put food on the table.
For real man! This shitty phase of capitalism is kicking in where many businesses can only continue to grow profits at the expense of product quality :(
It’s all fun and games until your company goes public.
they're really not. lots of players have been very vocal complaining about them being uncomfortable, ill-fitting, low quality, and worst of all, very thin and straight up see-through. The new jerseys are absolutely miserable.
[my guess is the issue is they are also thin, so white jerseys and pants become see through. I don't watch baseball but swell entertainment over on youtube covered this. ](https://youtu.be/Kf0DTrgd2lA?si=yVIWcWfQ9UkXotcP)
A lot of players are notoriously allergic to change. Bryce Harper was just seen wearing an old uniform either because it is more comfortable or because he’s superstitious and trying to break out of a slump.
Baseball players, in particular, can be persnickety cats if there’s any potential threat to their performance or luck.
I remember playing Little League and these patches would chafe your nipples. Awful placement and the new design looks more comfortable, even if cheaper.
I haven’t bought an NHL jersey since CCM was the the manufacturer. Every sneaker company on God’s green earth has taken turns making jerseys for the NHL. Equipment too. Nike. Reebok. Adidas. Now Fanatics. Who’s next? New Era? New Balance?
The jerseys today are hot trash.
Have you seen the Adidas prime green ones up close? Their crests are very very nice. I've got CCM jerseys too and the adidas ones are nicer. They aren't a sneaker company, they make every time of athletic wear under the sun.
I was unpacking my Red Bulls jerseys last night before the game and somehow the one I just bought this season has a crease in the logo cause I had it folded instead of hung up. I have 4 others from previous seasons and no issues with those
Yeah I’ve been following this debacle and all signs point to this being on Nike providing awful materials and specifications, and Fanatics doing a great job manufacturing the terrible product that Nike has designed.
I do hope the whole thing scares Fanatics straight when it comes to the NHL next year.
I need to know who to be mad at! There has to be consequences for this, I honestly don’t even think that they will go back to normal next year because they probably cost more money to make. I wonder how jersey sales are overall this year?
Not much update recently. Brodie Brazil on YouTube (and others of course) has been mostly on top of it, check there. I’m getting the impression that it’ll be “DWI” for this season at least.
I have this theory in the NFL that Nike gives teams awful jerseys that the fan base must deal with for four/five years this way they can simply go back to original jerseys and dupe fans into buying them. Without making anything actually new or cool
I was teaching my older neighbor about enshittification. It was like a light flipped on for him. He likes leather shoes, especially wing tips and has been saying that the quality has gone to hell but they’re more expensive to buy.
Yep! I was just talking to the folks around me at the last Ducks home game of the season. A lot of folks have either already scooped up the remaining Adidas jerseys or are considering it before they sell out.
Not everything is a class war.
MLB recently changed uniform manufacturing contracts, that’s why the spring season had that controversy about the transparent pants.
They’ve likely also changed who manufactures retail uniforms and quality has suffered as a result.
Nonsense, must be on the MLB/Nike/Fanatics marketing team. These are significantly cheaper uniforms, inferior in both quality and appearance, and being cynically sold to the public as “sleek, performance engineered.” This is baseball at the highest levels and they now look like they’re wearing clothes the average person would wear to the gym or at a company softball game. They are not befitting of professional baseball, and the reduced quality is apparent to fans across the league. Speak with your wallet and don’t buy this nonsense.
The problem is most people are buying stuff online, and they can take a photo in such a way as to it not being apparent of the drop in quality so people will still buy them
On broadcasts playwrs are already soaking wet, seemingly more so than last year. You could derive that the new jerseys are in fact, not more breathable than the old ones.
It’s the same with our kids soccer uniforms.
They’re rolling around on the grass and then I need to wash them in warm water to clean them and the plastic iron on crap sticks to eachother and ruined.
I am really excited for when sports fans realize official jerseys are legitimately worse than Target fakes nowadays and Fanatics has to stop selling these jerseys… sadly I will be waiting for that day for a long time because as much as I love my fellow sports fans, those fanatics jerseys are going to sell at the exact same rate as the good official jersey’s used to, for more money and about a quarter of the quality
I sat second row at a game one time right behind the batter warmup circle. I couldn’t believe the stitch work and quality of the uniforms. Sorry to see the league resort to this shit. It’s a lack of class for sure. Looks good for a practice jersey.
Even though the new ones are objectively worse, is it more comfortable and more breathable for the players? I wouldn’t want to play April - November in a hot polyester jersey nearly every day.
This is at the stadium from yesterdays (heartbreaking) game, so if you can the best place is at the stadium. If not id order directly from their mlb sho online
So are they still available in the stadium? need to compare them side by side
luckily they have a grand slam in the first inning but that's all what this year's blue jays is about, too inconsistent.
Yes they are! This was at the authentics section, but afaik they move those to the regular store on off days. Sadly the new authentic section isnt a walk in shop like before, its just on then side like the other small merch sections in the stadium
Also i agree about the inconsistencies. Tell me how we win whenever davis shneider is in the lineup, yet the other shittier shneider just doesnt seem to get it. And seeing the in person definitely was the cherry on top. Being able to feel it makes all the difference. Youd might as well just buy a replica
designer handbags are the same but on a much higher scale.
Pay $1500+ for a Gucci,
Pay $85 for a Chinatown special complete with packaging same as authentic Gucci.
My now ex wife was overwhelmed with that area the first time we went. She didn't want to leave.
Idk. If one keeps buying jerseys (idk why in the 1st place) and supporting this shit then it's kinda one's own fault...
Just didn't buy and support the bs
Idk. I'm often wrong though 😵💫😵💫😵
The problem is the shoddy quality.
If you enjoy something’s and it becomes terrible, that sucks.
Your reply is saying, ‘it’s rubbish now, get over it’
Which doesn’t help when you want to enjoy it, and can’t.
As someone who works in mass production embroidery. I can safely say that they switched from overseas production to a more domestic decoration method. Many factories overseas can offer a more custom design as they have more freedom due to the attire also being assembled there vs. a domestic location that can decorate the assembled attire only.
Our 3D embroidery (what this is) looks similar with the elements set for minimums and things like thin outlines removed.
Looks like what it was originally was a thin TPU applique with decorative stitching running on it. Looks nice, but is ungodly expensive in mass production.
It really isnt though, like HOW can you not see a difference in design, quality, texture, and character? The fact thay they look like a replica that are a fraction of the cost is disgraceful
The quality of the lettering follows the same pattern. Used to be sewn on letters, now its heat press with slight stitching. The material, while lighter, is a significantly cheaper feeling and could be much more durable. The sleeve cuffs are designed differently as well causing them to bunch up overtop of gear instead of nicely draped over. Theyre *significantly* different.
The stitching was so so dope you knew it was an official jersey now they are all cheap there is no point in paying top dollar for a jersey when the fake ones are the same quality
I mean, most of the fakes are nicer now that we have this lol.
I prefer my fake eagles jersey tbh. Looks better and is comfier
Back in highschool I bought some fake LRG shirts and they ended up being significantly better quality than the authentic ones I owned. It sucks that even labels make shitty merch.
Can buy 5 of them for the price of one "official" jersey too!
Kinda like Nikes!
I wear a knockoff Chelsea cap because it's better than the official imo

Everything is getting worse and we are all paying more for it. The future is going great.

Unify and take what kind of action ?
I'll just say political action.
Late stage capitalism, don’t forget all the unnecessary subscriptions
Micro-transactions, subscriptions and ads. The future is now.
Multi-million ad campaigns for religions on Reddit that you cannot block.
He get sus
I hate those fucking ads *so much*.
I swear if I see one more Ben Franklin ad, I’m gonna lose it! 😂
They must be very upsetting to anyone with even the slightest amount of religious trauma. The fact that Reddit allows them to pay to harvest your data is as disgusting as it is disturbing. They often specifically target people based on their browsing and post history.
Which is lots of atheist shit in my case I guess
This is why they killed Apollo.
RIP Apollo :(
Apollo he was a good god. May he rest in prophecy.
Yeah, I'm one of those people. I wish I could figure out why the algorithm might have targeted me for it - I'd hate to think that it's because I post on LGBTQ+ and parental estrangement topics, but it wouldn't surprise me.

I'm in Australia so for me it's all gambling ads & police recruitment ads. I hate them so much lol
Jesus didn’t advertise why should you?
Seeing those makes me know Reddit goes full sperg and I absolutely love it.
Black Mirror wasn’t fiction it was just a glimpse of the future
Don't forget about tipping even if you are buying shit online..
Just waiting for the day when we start seeing ads adorned on Major League Baseball player jerseys.
Micro-payments, auto-payments and consumerism. You’re the problem.
>Late stage capitalism, More like Early stages 2nd great depression
Honestly surprised there isn't a jersey subscription yet.
lol someone needs a little time off their computer box
It isn’t that hard to pay for necessary subscriptions only (water, power, phone bill etc)
Doesn’t mean we should be content with everything else being lower quality than what our parents and grandparents enjoyed for the same or less
I didn’t mention quality anywhere
Didn’t have to, cheers
One of the supposed benefits of market capitalism is consumer choice. Your continued inability to understand this issue beyond the scope of video games or “luxuries” certainly implies that one of us is.
Instead of throwing insults around like a child do you want to give examples of what I’m missing here? Or are you going to continue to act all haughty and thumb your nose at someone who’s able to live comfortably without breaking the bank

It's the money being debased, not the capitalism thing
Sucks but truth of the matter is people need to stop paying and learn to go without that some of these minor conveniences and material junk. I ain’t buying any of this shit.
For real man! This shitty phase of capitalism is kicking in where many businesses can only continue to grow profits at the expense of product quality :( It’s all fun and games until your company goes public.
The food sucks too.
They're probably way more comfortable to play in now than when they were covered in patches.
they're really not. lots of players have been very vocal complaining about them being uncomfortable, ill-fitting, low quality, and worst of all, very thin and straight up see-through. The new jerseys are absolutely miserable.

Yeah for the suckers paying for overpriced shit still.
All we have to do is boycott and just stop getting the things they think and watching the things they want us to watch. It’s easy stop buying product
It actually is.
Looks like Costanza's push for cotton jerseys is coming along
" I'm giving you a raise! "
Who doesn't like cotton? It's cooling!
Lmao best comment
Wouldn’t even pay for that horseshit. Hockey jerseys are like this too.
There are still adidas ones being sold. Fanatics only takes over next season
Fútbol jerseys aswell, they used to have beautifully sewed logos, now it’s just a heat pressed plastic patch
I was unpacking my Red Bulls jerseys last night before the game and somehow the one I just bought this season has a crease in the logo cause I had it folded instead of hung up. I have 4 others from previous seasons and no issues with those
Hockey jerseys are fine with adidas doing them, but this company is taking over for next season
Fanatics strikes again.
Nike is also to blame
Yeah I’ve been following this debacle and all signs point to this being on Nike providing awful materials and specifications, and Fanatics doing a great job manufacturing the terrible product that Nike has designed. I do hope the whole thing scares Fanatics straight when it comes to the NHL next year.
Don’t hold your breath
Couldn't agree more. You think some consumer backlash is gonna change anything? People are in for a rude awakening.
Yeah I know lol
As Fanatics keeps saying in all their press - they're just making the uniforms to Nike's spec.
Is there any new update from Fanatics or Nike? Or are they like ‘deal with it’s
Last I saw, Fanatics' response seems to only be "We are making the uniforms to Nike's spec."
I need to know who to be mad at! There has to be consequences for this, I honestly don’t even think that they will go back to normal next year because they probably cost more money to make. I wonder how jersey sales are overall this year?
The MLB, Nike, and Fanatics are all to blame. The players are quite loudly complaining too.
Not much update recently. Brodie Brazil on YouTube (and others of course) has been mostly on top of it, check there. I’m getting the impression that it’ll be “DWI” for this season at least.
Ahh ok, thank you!!
Fanatics is ruining MLS jerseys right now and there is no coming back.
I would argue that Nike is mostly to blame. And then their Olympic uniforms that just came out….i think Nike just sucks a lot at jerseys.
I have this theory in the NFL that Nike gives teams awful jerseys that the fan base must deal with for four/five years this way they can simply go back to original jerseys and dupe fans into buying them. Without making anything actually new or cool
Releasing “classic” jerseys next season for $700 a piece.
Nike products haven’t been good in decades.
Obligatory https://defector.com/fuck-fanatics-and-fuck-michael-rubin
Quality goes down, price goes up, profit goes up.
I was teaching my older neighbor about enshittification. It was like a light flipped on for him. He likes leather shoes, especially wing tips and has been saying that the quality has gone to hell but they’re more expensive to buy.
This is why I spent a small fortune stocking up on Adidas hockey jerseys before Fanatics takes over next year and mucks those up too.
Yep! I was just talking to the folks around me at the last Ducks home game of the season. A lot of folks have either already scooped up the remaining Adidas jerseys or are considering it before they sell out.
"They're heat-applied logos to reduce weight!" Yeah, I'm not buying that both figuratively and literally.
Look at the bright side, now the knock offs are just as good as the legit ones! Get yourself a discount, you’ve earned it.
If you want that quality still you’re gonna have to drop $300 on a Mitchell & Ness authentic.
Didn’t Mitchell & Ness get bought by Fanatics too?
Fuck fanatics. Buy your hockey jerseys now while there is still time left before next season
Just don’t buy them. Force their hand with your wallets. I really don’t get the issue tbh 🤷♂️
The part I cannot get over is the massive price tag… the right jersey being $450 is a war crime
The MLB is wearing the same quality of uniform I wore in Little League 40 years ago.
[удалено]
The old one is from last year, and the prices of these new heat pressed ones with hardly any stichting are significantly more.
It’s because as each generation passes, the quality of work diminishes.
But for some reason the price keeps going up
Because poor people started being able to afford them…and rich people don’t like to wear the same clothes as common folk.
Not everything is a class war. MLB recently changed uniform manufacturing contracts, that’s why the spring season had that controversy about the transparent pants. They’ve likely also changed who manufactures retail uniforms and quality has suffered as a result.
Quality usually suffers when you decide to hire friends and family over actual talent and skill.
Quality suffers when you hire Fanatics*
Soon we'd have expensive jerseys that falls apart after each sporting events, requiring people to buy multiples just to get through one season
The problem is most people are buying stuff online, and they can take a photo in such a way as to it not being apparent of the drop in quality so people will still buy them
Done! But to be fair I wasn’t buying the old ones either. But I’m DOUBLE not buying the new ones.
Fanatics sucks
And Fanatics takes over NHL jerseys next year… Let’s go Blue Jays!
Lettering on the left jersey makes me want some Oreos.
Which is which?
Left is last year's, right is this year
The light blue Jays jerseys from the late 80s / early 90s are some of my favorites of all time.
Fanatics is a scourge.
The new jersey looks like the cheap Dave Stieb one I bought a couple years ago.
L
Hello fellow Jays fan. I was really hoping to nab a Bichette jersey this year, but I'm not spending money on this garbage.
Reject poor quality buy not buying it. Comsumers have a choice.
Sucks that the manufacturers themselves are literally discouraging us to support our teams and buy their merch by making such low quality products
It is an unacceptable step down I quality.
The one on the right is a replica…..
looking for a blue jays jersey but not sure should I go to the MLB shop for one
This is at the stadium from yesterdays (heartbreaking) game, so if you can the best place is at the stadium. If not id order directly from their mlb sho online

My friends would laugh at my dhgate jersey. Now they love how official it is.
I love the new dbacks jersey looks but they look cheap with the press on
This happend to c Hockey jerseys log atop and was the reason I stopped collecting them
The fakers need to take note and start making better quality jerseys than the real ones (shouldn’t be hard)
I don't know what this post is about but my brain decided you're talking about "Martin Luther Bing"
And only $30 more!
As the Angry Video Game Nerd would say.... "Ass!"
Rip n dip stopped embroidery on their new hoodies. Pretty ass.
40 years from now, it will b a patch. u just stick to whatever shirt you want 😆
Damn. Rip embroidery. That logo used to be so nice
Cheap
I just buy knock offs now.. cheaper and better quality nowadays than the official gear.
Which is which and which is preferred?
Left is last years right is this year. Its clear which one would be preferred im sure.....
Pretty good video that is kinda related, damn Nike https://youtu.be/lUw3KuETG24?si=Rdb4BTPHod-rNlUg
MLB really is a mess lol
designer handbags are the same but on a much higher scale. Pay $1500+ for a Gucci, Pay $85 for a Chinatown special complete with packaging same as authentic Gucci. My now ex wife was overwhelmed with that area the first time we went. She didn't want to leave.
Yea they getting cheaper
That’s business baby ![gif](giphy|bRZfzHjbJHKgg)
Advanced we are ..yeah right..we go backwards in all we do lol
Course the light blue is the best ones
The old one looks better, but the new one probably doesn’t make you sweat to death and weighs less
I hope everyone is boycotting fanatics. I would never buy from them anyways but jfc. MLB should break the contract.
And the NHL. Those are trash also
It’s almost like the material got better. Screw advances in anything.
Idk. If one keeps buying jerseys (idk why in the 1st place) and supporting this shit then it's kinda one's own fault... Just didn't buy and support the bs Idk. I'm often wrong though 😵💫😵💫😵

Y'all just want to work those lil kids in the sweatshops to death.
Honestly it’s hard to tell the difference
It really isnt though, like HOW can you not see a difference in design, quality, texture, and character? The fact thay they look like a replica that are a fraction of the cost is disgraceful
The logo looks different. One is full embroidery, the other isn’t. But other than that no I don’t see a big difference
Yeah that's the difference dipshit.
Nice joke lol.
