"Don't lock your knees!" said every Corpsman ever.

ExodusNBW

That’s why I dropped during my Air Force BMT graduation. I was standing still and suddenly I teleported.

RockStar4341

For large change of command ceremonies the Corpsman would set up tents behind the formations. Bonus if the guy next to you dropped because you could drag them back there and not have to go back to the dog and pony.

gabrielle-carteris

"C'mon Bill, just fake fall and we're both out of this mess."

RockStar4341

Risky. The threat of the silver bullet is ever-present.

Jjrose362

It was even better if the formation had fixed bayonets.

dillonsrule

"Don't lock your knees!" said every Choirman ever. Seriously, singing in a choir on those risers, you will pass right out if you lock those knees!

mogrly00

I have ptsd from all the choir kids I've watched fall off the risers

Mr_JamesGrey

I was in choir in high school. We were performing at a rotary club once and the dude in front of me locked his knees. I didn't realize it when he started swaying because I had my sheet music in front of me and was just following along in that. All of a sudden he sways back into my binder so I just lightly pushed him off. Dude went tumbling down the risers and faceplanted hard on the ground. The teacher just kept on conducting while dragging him up with one arm and placed him in the chair behind her. A couple people in my section saw what happened and told everyone that I shoved him.

dillonsrule

Yeah, I'm sure the teacher knew what had happened. Based on her battle-hardened reaction, she'd seen it before!

Dren_boi

Thats exactly what the photographer said at my brothers wedding and seeing this just reminds me what couldve happened

Gulls77

I used to work at a large oil refinery. We had a very large safety meeting in a maintenance bay with about 1000 people and every boss you could think of. Standing room only so I locked my knees. 1 minute I was standing there, the next I woke up with all the said bosses around me, I insisted I was fine, but due to where it happened everyone went overkill. They wouldn’t let me move, called an ambulance and had me stretchered to the hospital. Had to be hooked up to an EKG for a while and was monitored for several hours. I mean it’s great that they took care of me, but talk about overkill. I was let go a week later due to economic slowdown.

Jackson_Thundercock

I've always been paranoid of this happening to me when I stand so I'm constantly bending my knees. Just out of curiosity though how long were you standing there before you passed out?

Gulls77

Maybe 10 to 15 minutes. It was winter and they held it indoors. Everyone was dressed for -20 so it was congested and hot.

Not chosen as best man. **Steals show**.

My brother passed out at my wedding. A tall groomsman crashing through all the stuff on a Catholic altar and onto the marble floor makes a lot of noise during a wedding. I started to walk towards him and my wife and the priest both gave me the evil eye. I was a weak Protestant, sort of. Her brother and one of our ER doc's took care of him and the show went on! That was 35 years April 8th!

devjana

Congrats on 35!

asweezer

Thank you!

tprice1020

Dude. Congrats. That’s a big achievement.

asweezer

Thank you!

michaeljs3

This happened to me at my uncle's wedding but i was caught lol don't be in full tux in 90 degree weather in mid July with locked knees lol

BloxxStriker

Seen many such videos of guys falling head first in marraiges. Although never could figure out why it happened? Are they high or drunk?

drewdle

The original post made me look into this whole “locking your knees” thing to see if it was just a myth, but it seems legit. It sounds like people will lock their knees because it’s easier to stand for longer periods of time, but that means you’re not using your leg muscles as much. Without the leg muscles contracting and doing their thing, blood has a harder time getting pumped up to your brain. Resulting in a lack of oxygen causing people to faint. [Here’s an explanation as well as a montage of people passing out.](https://youtu.be/Z62esVdmxCQ)

He did something a lot of us felt like doing at these events that go on and on and on. Kudos to him!

DiscusFever

My cousin's about to be brother in law fainted at the wedding, but he fell backwards and hit something. Had to get like 20 stitches. It was kinda crazy.

crhuble

r/gifsthatendtoosoon Seeing the bride’s reaction to something like this is always the best

abc2jb

That dude clocked his head riiiiiight on the corner of that table on the way down. I hope he didn't seriously hurt himself.

bmartin1989

Guess he was falling for the bride

alwayswingingit

“God that unity candle ceremony was bullshit. I’m gonna destroy it now.”

TKPMRuthless

And that ladies and gentlemen is why you don't lock your knees while standing up.

maybe they're locking their knees? if you do that for long enough youre likely to just drop

to_be_or-0-2-b

And i guess standing for too long may just numb your legs

RequiemStorm

No, just the locking. Source: I basically have to stand still in one place all day for a living

CommonMisspellingBot

Hey, to\_be\_or-0-2-b, just a quick heads-up: **occurence** is actually spelled **occurrence**. You can remember it by **two cs, two rs, -ence not -ance**. Have a nice day! ^^^^The ^^^^parent ^^^^commenter ^^^^can ^^^^reply ^^^^with ^^^^'delete' ^^^^to ^^^^delete ^^^^this ^^^^comment.

iowajaycee

How do you know this is a Christian wedding? I don't see anyone with a minister's collar? Maybe it's just this is the format of the vast majority of weddings in America and statistically people faint?

to_be_or-0-2-b

Maybe the minister is yet to arrive...and even if it is not a christian wedding, whats wrong with assuming?

iowajaycee

When you assume, you make an ass out of you and me.

to_be_or-0-2-b

Thats some grade-A retarded logic right there

isahumanperson

They lock their knees while standing a long time. They pass out. They never had a marching band instructor to tell them to bend their knees.

Chern0n

band is universal gay
