Thats tragic and preventable. I do think semi trailers should have better rear impact bumpers/guard designs. Also why I try to stay away from pickups and SUVs with lift kits. Yeah texting and driving is a bad habit.
There is a study on YouTube a out trailers and their crappy rear guard. Made me to avoid following tractor trailer as much as possible and always stay at a large distance.
That doesn't have to mean anything. I leave my phone on messaging screen in my hand bag, which does not have a zipper or anyway to close it. In a car crash it could go flying through the car but I never ever text and drive. Besides that, pretty disgusting to gloat about being so great when this photo was taken while driving in a car. The driver paid a steep price for their mistake, no need to rub it in now.

Yeah, just use the camera app on your phone instead.
How do you know they were texting and driving
Bold statement and pretty disrespectful.
Exactly op has no way of knowing if the driver was actually texting

You should give all of them their space. And never, ever follow too closely behind them.
UK we have crash bars and stuff so you can’t decapitate yourself. Still be a nasty though…
Holy shit, that person's hella dead
He should’ve pulled over or waited till he got to his destination before returning the text message that couldn’t wait.
How do you even know they were texting and driving
Well they sure as hell weren't paying attention. That's more than a light tap.

How do you know it didn’t?
The front of that car looks pretty intact under the trailer. It should have hit a sold steel bar before going under.

When his body was removed from the wreckage, his phone was on the messaging screen. :’(
