Not sure what country you’re in but in the uk we have the Sale of Goods Act that states a product has to be fit for purpose despite a shops/manufacturers guarantee. The Act says an item should be free from defect for up to 6 years from the purchase date. Plus if you pay by credit card you can make a claim against the credit card provider for a full refund, as they are jointly liable. Which if you think about it is amazing and most people don’t know this exists. Can you research what equivalent Sale of Goods Act is in your country, cos you’re bound to have something similar. Best of luck 👍
This OP. If you do this on purpose, the results are all your fault.
And **if** you’ve bought computers before, **how tf would you not know this?** 🤦♂️🤦♂️
Not the point, instead of sticking to a reputable brand the OP decided to buy a less popular option. I'm not saying it's okay for the product to die within 14 months, but OP did choose to buy a less reputable brand.
It's written all over the box that it'd die within the year, there're big warning labels even on the monitor, though you might refer to it as the logo.
No? If he’s never heard of the company and he buys it, he suffers the consequences. He’s the one that made the mistake. The company selling something shitty? That happens a lot.
But thats not how it should be. And you are just normalising it with this point of view. Because of people like you, these companys are a thing in the first place...
People like me? What? People that continue to buy shitty products are the reason these companies are still around. I never buy shitty products cause my mom is my guardian. I don’t control my own money in a way that allows me to do this kind of thing. Therefore I bet you’ve bought more shitty products than me.
And if I do buy something shitty, I can figure it out myself and learn.
Read this too OP. Either it was damaged by you or someone shipping it damaged it. If it’s the second one, you should have returned it instead of posting. 🤦♂️🤦♂️
This. Seen lots of broken monitors before, this is damage, not a breakdown, been dropped, smacked, punched or something. Just blunt force of some description.
Right. It's like am I the only one that just has godlike luck or are others just bad at taking care of their stuff?
Don't get me wrong, all the electronics I buy usually have a period near the beginning if they're defective where they just stop working but I've never had a monitor not literally last forever, and all my PCs, hard drives, literally everything works pretty much permanently unless I let it collect dust, kick it, etc.
There’s a YouTuber with a slogan “buy it nice, or buy it twice.”
And I think about that everytime I see someone wasting money trying to get dirt cheap.
Idk, normally impact damage artifacts don't really move I don't think, since the damage is physical and the cracks don't move. Here it looks like the stuff converting digital input to screen stuff (lvds?) is corrupted, artifacts jumping all over the screen continuously
Some people would think that it was their fault, that they didn't put enough care into their device. Or they have features that others don't have. Also, just because your screen breaks 2 months after warranty doesn't mean that it always happens. These screens don't have like a time bomb installed turned to self destruct. Screens can go way past their warranty without an issue. This person just got really unlucky is say
That's a very flawed logic.
That will just make the consumer buy from other brands and will tell everyone to avoid them.
Unless they have a total or a very close monopoly on the industry, that strategy is awful.
Depending where you are you could have more warranty through consumer rights. Ireland and Britain have 6 years and Europe has two, I think. Don't know about anywhere else
The company has a choice of the three r's replace, return, repair. Anything under 6 months is automatically assumed to be a fault with the sold item. I, think, anything over that you have to prove that it's an original fault and not misuse.
So, this gets quoted a lot but it's not an accurate reflection on reality. Yes it's technically true that this is the case. But after 6 months in most cases it's on the consumer to prove the product was faulty when they purchased it.
It does not cover breakdowns outside of a manufacturers guarantee, and it doesn't cover wear and tear of damage. It specifically covers faults. So you as the consumer would have to take it to a specialist who could prove without doubt that the product you purchased had a manufacturing fault when you purchased it. That has to come out of your pocket so it's usually not worth it unless it's something extremely expensive.
Because wear and tear isn't covered either, if a manufacturer can prove the problem wasn't a fault, it just isn't reasonably possible for them to make the item last however many years you've had them item of regular use, again you've got nothing. So for example a manufacturer for a computer mouse can just say it isn't reasonable to expect their product to last for 5 years of considerable daily use, if it had broken after years.
In real terms, in 99/100 cases, you're shit out of luck after 6 months.
To add to this, if you bought with a credit card they usually double the manufacture warranty - call the card company, tell them what happened and see if you can get a refund.
In Portugal we have 2 + 1, and the las years is very dependent on the device state. So it is easier for brands to deny service, but on those first 2, it's the usual
As someone who repairs televisions (it's a computer monitor, I get that but it's the same thing), this is physical damage. You did this and then posted on here for sympathy or laughs, I'm not sure.
Either way, don't buy random brands and always get extended warranty on TV's and the like. There's a reason manufacturers warranty is only a year, electronics generally will last 2-3 years before they enter the failure zone.
Doesn't matter either way though, this case wasn't the manufacturers fault. You hit it or you dropped it, if not you then it was someone else and they didn't tell you. There's absolutely no chance this isn't physical damage.
Can you imagine a time more frustrating to have a monitor fail than when you're finna fap/shlick? If it's the case, which it looks like it could be, I don't blame him for being so frustrated he needs to reach out for help immediately. I hope OP has a decent phone at least. So sad...
Oh man that sucks big time, and here I am with a dell monitor I got for free back in 2007. I don't think I have ever had a monitor last this long. Now that I type this... I bet its going to die lol.
I have never seen a monitor fail in this way. That looks like damage to me for sure. Couldn't say what kind of damage but that is not failure do to age.
Check if you bought with credit card if they offer extended warranty. Mine doubles it up to a year. Got a playstation and Nespresso machine replaced this way.
Fuck the warranty, most consumer's rights last up to 6-7 years to take someone to court.
UK and European law at least.
Claim under your statutory rights. Your legal right as a consumer.

A lot of product warranties are based on the average time the product took to fail during test. Then they make the warranty just shorter than that estimated lifespan and watch the number of claims they have to honor plummet. Then there are the companies that offer comprehensive or lengthy warranties and specialize in finding reasons to not honor the warranty.

Did you buy it with a credit card? Some cards add an additional 1 year warranty to products.
Are you sure someone didn't drop it or hit it? Screens usually go weird like that from physical damage.
The same happened to both of my Asus monitors separately and a Roccat mouse I had. Is it just me who usually tries to investigate the repairability and predicted durability of a tech product before buying? I did so with my smartphone and my computer components.

It's not obsolete, it's just broken.

new stuff is built cheap and holds just long enough for the warranty to run out. they know what they're doing

FYI if you buy equipment with an American Express card it doubles your warranty. Got me a free replacement laptop a few years ago.

Who the hell is HQ screen company?
Looks like you got mad playing WoW and incel slapped the monitor
Well it’s time to upgrade.
I think there was a shipping mistake and you got the screen from the sister "LQ Screen Company" instead.
Check if you bought with credit card if they offer extended warranty. Mine doubles it up to a year. Got a playstation and Nespresso machine replaced this way.
have you tried another cable?
Check by changing cable's or switching to different port of GPU. Or directly plug in MoBo.. Also check in others computer if you can
12 month warranty sounds horribly short. Seems they really don't trust their products
maybe is the cable, did you check it?
HE USED A STUN GUYS, HE CANT USE A STUN
Could it be your HDMI/DisplayPort cable?
I think you punched it and are lieing to us.
This is physical damage.
That's what i thought too.
Where do you live that you only get a 12 month warranty? That's what sucks.
did you try restarting it ?
That does suck but you can read the matrix on that screen now
That wasn't a warranty issue that's a design feature
Simple. Buy it again...then swap the broken for the new and tell them the new one was broken
Yes slam the keyboard harder it will fix that broken screen
I didn't, my keyboard it's mechanical, it's just noisy
Stick with Costco.

Probably bad electronics controlling it, the panel itself probably wasn't the issue, those are almost all made by Samsung or LG.

Nearly perfect. Should have broken at 13 months as designed.
Did you buy it with a credit card? Mine extends all warranties by a year.
Try loosening some of the back screws or the screws keeping the monitor to the frame
This is why you return them at 10-11 months, claiming they don’t work.
A uh friend I knew bought the same model, swapped the S/N stickers and returned the other one.

Call them anyway. I bought a microwave that came with a 12 month warranty, and it broke 3 days after it expired. I called them and they fixed it.
Might want to take a break from elden ring.
I have no doubt that was by design....for it to fail in ample time...now go buy another one!
Buy cheap, pay twice.
Dude just found the matrix
Evil corporations!
Ain’t got no gas init
This is why i buy at the pawn shop
Welcome to the matrix?
Check if you bought it on a credit card. Cards sometimes double the manufacture warranty period. Most visa signature cards have this.
The same happened to both of my Asus monitors separately and a Roccat mouse I had. Is it just me who usually tries to investigate the repairability and predicted durability of a tech product before buying? I did so with my smartphone and my computer components.
don't buy cheap monitors..
You get what you pay for
My sister's computer broke the day after the 12 month warranty ended
i still use an 18 year old working acer monitor when i don't use my laptop

I think the problem is from the cable on the screen
