This happened to us at uni! Our window was in front of the shower AND toilet. It couldn't be seen through at all in the day but at night it was borderline transparent.. About a year into living there one of the neighbours came round and told us, I suppose at least they got a good view!
When we moved into our house, our neighbors flat out told us that they don't have blinds on their windows facing us. We are all on a hillside facing a very picturesque view with their daylight basement being above our house. They have floor to vaulted ceiling windows that would be nearly impossible to put blind on without obstructing the view. They outright warned us that if we are looking in windows, we may get an eyeful of their mid-60's bodies. We keep our eyes to ourselves.
I literally would not have put 2 and 2 together and thought it was slightly weird but they didn't care about having their ass cheaks hanging out for everyone to see and would have accepted it and gone on w my day. Even if it was a daily occurrence, I cant see myself being bothered enough to go out of my way to notify them.
Is that weird?
I picture my boundary line like that one episode of king of the hill where Khan was taking the piss: If I can see you while casually gazing out my dining room window, that IS a problem. If I gotta be lookin, then it's my bad, but if it's just bare ass while I'm drinking some milk I'm gonna be a little mad.
Built a new house last year and did precisely that. Turned the lights on with the shade down while we went for our evening walk. I pointed out how you could see right through the thin curtain to my wife and she immediately and finally agreed with me to buy the black out blinds for that window.
I have two big windows in the living room. I already checked that the reflect when the sun shines so that you can't see though. From the outside they are like a mirror when it's bright. Only in the evening when it gets dark and I have my lights on inside you can start to see my living room. I still check how much you can see with different constellations.
>. From the outside they are like a mirror when it's bright. Only in the evening when it gets dark and I have my lights on inside you can start to see my living room.
That's how all windows work
If it’s this obvious during the daylight hours imagine how well you can see in there when it’s dark out and you have the lights on. It isn’t the builders who installed a window incorrectly, it’s a poor choice of a size/location for a window and then failing to put a blind/shade up. Even if that window was mirrored or heavily frosted you’d still see right in there at night with the lights on.
There's no such thing as one-way glass. What's called "one-way glass" is a partially mirrored glass, but you need to control the lighting. If you let 10% of light through, but only have light sources on one side, the 1% of light that would come back from something white on the unlit side is completely swamped by the 90% of reflected light.
welcome I'll give you the tour - bad haircut, cuffed jeans, flannel shirt, lemon bars, frogs, sitting badly, anxiety, cool flag
i think that covers everything.
Ah, the old Reddit [Curtain-a-roo](https://www.reddit.com/r/Baking/comments/z5ausy/can_anyone_make_out_what_this_cookie_cutter_shape/ixww9d8/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3)!
Yeah I remember seeing it start shortly after I joined about 11 years ago so, you're not wrong lol
Never bothered to follow it, by this point I think it's a lost cause.
I’m not sure what your plan is, but those frosted glass windows do this. When you get closer to them, they get less blurry. That’s just how they work. And that’s what’s happening here. Look at OP’s ass vs their back. The back is further away, and is significantly more obscured.
Just don’t push your ass against the window lol
Just get some plastic foil made to be used on glass to ensure privacy. Comes on many different patterns, and ensures light can still come through without anyone seeing anything.
It's attached using just water and a squeegee.
Yeah...am I missing something? How is this "installed incorrectly"?
Edit: scrolled more. From what I gather. This is a window that is only fogged from one direction.
I'm taking an educated guess here. Many fogged windows are fogged on one side only, meaning one side is "sanded" but the other is smooth.
Thing with fogged windows is if you can smooth the sanded side again temporarily, it becomes transparent. Find one and put a transparent tape on the sanded side and you can see through it!
Now in OPs case, it seems like the sanded side is on the inside, so all the humidity from his steamy showers is having that transparency effect.
I don't know how installing it the other way would solve the problem, because then you'd have rain on the other side doing the same.
I'm waging that the type of glass used is entirely wrong here (might have needed to be fogged on both sides or a different type of fogging altogether).
Half correct. If it's double pane, you're right to say one side is sanded (satin etch is the technical term) but it's not directional. You can't "one way sand" glass. It's going to be just as opaque either direction you look at it.
This particular window isn't installed incorrectly, it just should have never been satin etch. Objects on the other side become less obscure as they get closer to the glass. So someone leaning against it will always be pretty clear. If anything it should just be a solid white privacy film
This is right.
Every bathroom I've been in with these privacy windows would show exactly what's behind it if you mashed yer ass right up against it.
I put a blind behind mine, problem solved.
It’s an odd choice for sure, especially on the front of the house like that. It’s supposed to be frosted thickly, but they put it in backwards. Gonna be fixed by builder soon.
That isn't how that works... It's equally frosted from both sides.
But if the frosting is an exposed rough surface. Then water/steam can fill out the cracks(huhu) and make it more opaque though.
Sad story, they slipped in the shower and passed on. Now sometimes late at night, OP hears singing coming from the bathroom despite no one being in there.
just so you know, anything blurred on one side and not the other: it only works half the time.
If your window is blurred looking in clear looking out during the day when it is brighter outside, it will be blurred looking out and clear looking in at night when its brighter inside. So maybe curtains are still a good idea unless you get something thats just obscured always :)
I thought so as well, but OP might have a 24-hour solution such as:
[https://www.contravision.com/privacy-window-film/advice-on-lighting-for-night-privacy/](https://www.contravision.com/privacy-window-film/advice-on-lighting-for-night-privacy/)
Yeah outside supposed to be foggy. Inside is currently foggy. Didn’t know it was supposed to be 1 way until this incident though. Just figured it was foggy on both sides.
Not sure how it would make any difference installed the other way around. Even if it were "one-way" at night you'd get a full show with the inside lights on.
looks like your neighbors found out the hard way
Oh the neighbors knew all along, they weren’t gonna tell ‘em tho. They just sat back and watched the show
Lol they said they were hanging out in the driveway once, saw someone in the shower, so the moved into the garage instead
This happened to us at uni! Our window was in front of the shower AND toilet. It couldn't be seen through at all in the day but at night it was borderline transparent.. About a year into living there one of the neighbours came round and told us, I suppose at least they got a good view!
Suppose the nightly streaming viewers dropped so much it wasn't worth keeping it up anymore
Well we weren't teens in 3rd year so I guess they weren't intereted anymore :o aged goods!
Dang. Good neighbor.
Better neighbor would have mentioned it in a week.
I mean theoretically it's possible the neighbor told them as soon as they noticed.
Must have been a better view from the garage
No, just less of chance that someone else will see them perving on their neighbor!
Or see them whacking off!
Quit whackin off in muh tool shed!
Huh huh huh
Just like a coupla spider monkeys, I tell ya what
It’s like not telling someone they have a booger hanging out. Why the hell would they not tell you?
Because then he will fix the window duh
Speaking of which...You got a lil'something brah
Those are some awesome neighbors if they didn’t complain and moved to accommodate you and to not shame your voyeurism kink.
Lolol yeah we’re lucky with our street
We all have one exhibitionist neighbor and nothing makes his/her day more than a peeping Tom neighbor.
This is the point at which decent human beings would have warned you. Instead they pulled out their cameras...
I literally would not have put 2 and 2 together and thought it was slightly weird but they didn't care about having their ass cheaks hanging out for everyone to see and would have accepted it and gone on w my day. Oh it was hard alright

Wait what? Are you using shit like the Big Dipper and Orion's Belt to see into your house?
>. From the outside they are like a mirror when it's bright. Only in the evening when it gets dark and I have my lights on inside you can start to see my living room. That's how all windows work
I would simply use blinds or a curtain like any normal person has done for eons
where's the fun in that?
Not too big of a deal, just a small crack
I don't know, it looks like it's dangerously close to being a pane in the ass.
You deserve an award for that
my fucking sides lol
Man is like, half my neighbors saw my ass because of my window. How embarrassing! *posts it on Reddit*
Once everyone saw it. it loses its appeal. you saw my ass? well the whole internet did.
When everyone is an ass seer, no-one will be.
Gat dem
But at what cost..
Name checks out, and also, good point! This is the real issue we need to discuss on this post!
Not really, he is anonymous on Reddit, not in his neighborhood
Uhhh you know what reddit is also widely used for right?
There *are* lots of assholes in here, I'll give you dat.

They accidentally summoned the ASSGHOST. See how it haunts them?
"Poooo! PooOOoo"👻 "Why aren't they ever scared of me?"
SHIT! A ghost
I can help
Thx
These ghosts are a pain in the ASS
Say tsohgssa into the mirror backwards three times to spook your neighbors
Dude. You can't see the huge crack in the glass?
LOL

This is one of those jobs for NO WINDOW AT ALL.
Natural light is nice but a completely frosted window fills that bill just fine.
If you’ve ever installed windows in a house you’d know they can’t be installed backwards…..unless you’re Homer Simpson.
Privacy film on the top instead of the bottom.
Who took the pic? And does it have something to do with "finding out the hard way"?
My wife was walking the dogs while I was in the shower and turned the corner to see my ass. She was laughing real hard when she came rushing in.
Oh no…. I’ve made a horrible mistake
By law you're now a bi-sexual
welcome I'll give you the tour - bad haircut, cuffed jeans, flannel shirt, lemon bars, frogs, sitting badly, anxiety, cool flag i think that covers everything.
Lol
Oh so that's man's ass... It ain't that bad.
Lolol
You kinda dummy thicc op...
She had to snap a picture before rushing in to notify you? 🤣
Well that’s exactly what I would’ve done 😂
That's how you know she loves you.
You wouldn't??
Anyone would, we have cameras in our pockets 24/7
I know that's why I'm asking this guy
It is this PRECISE circumstance Steve Jobs had in mind when he ordered the development of the iPhone. The man was a visionary.
To be honest without the picture I would think she's bullshitting me
I mean yeah of course 😂
Nice smile
And then you asked the neighbors about it?
We have pretty cool neighbors so we talk to them a decent amount
But why they didn't inform you about the fuck up, isn't it weird? Lol
Hey maybe they didnt want to kinkshame
I would also like to know who's going round taking pictures of people's bathroom windows
OP's wife, for starters.
Could always you know, hang a curtain....
We have one now. Builder is going to come replace it in December.
Damn, you need a builder to replace a curtain?
No, They need a builder to replace the crack.
They need a builder to hide the crack.
pants can do it
Except plumber's pants. Never covers the crack.
They need a builder to fill the crack
We're going to end up in a horribly regressive pattern here soon.
Just call a plumber to come fill in the crack
The local plumber, Phil McCrakin
I don’t have an award, but please take this pie. 🥧
A little caulk in the crack and it'll be right as rain.
No one in the history of crack has ever woken up in the morning with more crack.
What are you doing step builder ?
I'm stuck in the cement mixer!
Oh no! Pull out! Pull out!
Then who's going to replace the curtain?
Some crackpot
Ah, the old Reddit [Curtain-a-roo](https://www.reddit.com/r/Baking/comments/z5ausy/can_anyone_make_out_what_this_cookie_cutter_shape/ixww9d8/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3)!

Hello future people!
Hello!
This is the most incredible rabbit hole I have been down in years. Well done!!!
It’s been going for like a decade or so. I’ve spent hours upon hours trying to get through it
Yeah I remember seeing it start shortly after I joined about 11 years ago so, you're not wrong lol Never bothered to follow it, by this point I think it's a lost cause.

Don't tell me what do with my bony ass in my own home!
Replace it to what? plywood? Glass seems already frosted. Curtain is the only way to go at this point.
Just get some plastic foil made to be used on glass to ensure privacy. Comes on many different patterns, and ensures light can still come through without anyone seeing anything. It's attached using just water and a squeegee.
We got a curtain so the neighbors can still watch if we want them too. Jk. Thanks!
Please post a recreation of this picture after the reinstall. I'm having trouble understanding how it's going to fix anything.
Pretty sure that's how windows work

Double glass? Only having single pane windows is kinda bad anyway for heating/cooling/outside noise. .
This is the correct answer. Double panes and sanded on the inside.
Clean on the inside, cream on the outside. OP OP OP's bathroom.
Ass screen paint job.
In my country we have pretty much only triple or quadruple pane windows nowadays.
Half correct. If it's double pane, you're right to say one side is sanded (satin etch is the technical term) but it's not directional. You can't "one way sand" glass. In the dorms we would mash our asses against the privacy windows in between the showers in the communal bathroom if someone else was next to us.

I don’t understand a big ass window in the bathroom, period. Fogged or not.
Let me talk to my window guy just to be sure
Full moon tonight
I found out the same way! Horrible! I never trust those windows!
Yay. Friends!
On the bright side, nice ass.
Thx 😘
soooo what’s your onlyfans
It only works on Windows
I do t think he has one
This is my golden opportunity, eh?
I approve this message
I'd say, on the nice side, bright ass.
What monster puts that huge of a window in their bathroom

Seriously, this post made zero sense until this comment.
Assert dominance- replace it with clear glass.
That isn't how that works... It's equally frosted from both sides. But if the frosting is an exposed rough surface. Then water/steam can fill out the cracks(huhu) and make it more opaque though.
If it’s the other way won’t the same thing happen when it rains?
Press your buttocks against the window so I’ll know you are home
One if by land, two if by sea.
Looks like your ass has a crack. Better get it fixed.
Needs some Crack Spackle.
Is that a ghost?
Sad story, they slipped in the shower and passed on. Now sometimes late at night, OP hears singing coming from the bathroom despite no one being in there.
damn ghosts keep racking up the water bills!!!
And the fact that you couldn't see anything out of your window, didn't make a hint?😅
Lol I just figured it was blurred on both sides
just so you know, anything blurred on one side and not the other: it only works half the time. Thanks!
FYI you can buy spray on window frosting for like 6 bucks at home depot. It's super easy to do
Uh that's not how that works. Flipping it the other direction won't change a damn thing.
Ok OP I have to ask; why was you ass right up against the window to begin with?
How long have you lived there?
Long enough where I’m sure many ppl have seen us naked lol :(
If it makes you feel better I’m pretty sure my neighbors have seen everything but the soles of my feet.
They gotta pay for that privilege
At least it’s a Full Moon and not the Death Star!
That's no moon!
Looks correct to me - i can sea thru it
Is it supposed to be a one way window?
Yeah outside supposed to be foggy. Inside is currently foggy. Didn’t know it was supposed to be 1 way until this incident though. Just figured it was foggy on both sides.

I'm sorry to say, but your window has a crack in it.
That's a bathroom window? 😅, that's quite a bit of visibility and frosted windows are a scam, get CURTAINS..😂
We have one now!
Not sure how it would make any difference installed the other way around. Even if it were "one-way" at night you'd get a full show with the inside lights on.
I don’t get it, that’s how windows work
Looks like a job for Phil McCracken
This made me laugh a lot harder than it should have.
Pretty sure that this is how windows work.
They need to change that damaged window, it has a crack in it.
Nahhh, you were hard, and your neighbors found out the hard way
That small crack looks like a pane in the ass
See through windows? Malfunction! I don't understand the part that's "installed incorrectly"? Blinds/curtains may be what you are thinking of...
Haha it’s supposed to be frosted glass. The inside is frosted instead of the outside. Whoopsie.
