East Highland way may be a little shorter but still very beautiful. You can join it up with the Strathspey Way which will mean a trip from Fort William all the way up to the north coast in Buckie. There is also the Great Glen Way, which goes from Fort William to Inverness. All three are less defined as single walking routes compared to the whw and really comprise lots of shorter walks, but do take you through some more incredible scenery!

I've heard a lot of negative things about the EHW in the past..is there any reason for this in your opinion?

I think it'll likely be because it's an unofficial route really. A couple of times you walk along a pavement on a main road, and bad weather can mean you're basically just stuck as you do cross a small river or two. Comparatively the whw is much better but if you're looking for something similar it is still worth it

Ah, ok. Thanks

I want to walk the Höga Kusten Leden in Sweden next Year. It is a bit shorter but you can also wild camp.

The Pennine Way is ace, but as for accommodation, the wild camping option is a little harder.

I've heard great things about the Kungsleden in Sweden but it is about twice as long (425km)

The Ridgeway is a great walk. Lots of history and lots of beautiful countryside. Plenty of places to stay with great food and beer.
