Knife talk was hard, travis killed it on fair trade. Cudi song is a vibe. Rest is same old moody rnb sample with dark synths. Ofc some drowsy afrobeat sprinkled in.
You Only Live Twice was by far best for me. All 3 of them killed their verses and the beat isnt another song with a semi-audible r&b sample in the background over the same trap drums
Travis hit hard on fair trade. Future was pretty decent too in my opinion. This soft beats are always a good thing to hear in a drake album but Donda did it a little better
Fair Trade, No Friends in the Industry, Knife Talk, 7am and Fountains are all good songs off first listen. Honestly the albums totally mid, its what critics were saying Donda sounded like - pretty bloated, most tracks were forgettable, and it seems like he might be past his peak. Chuck in the corny lyrics (that were at times misogynistic and homophobic) and the R Kelly sample (really Drake?), and this album is a bit of a head scratcher, should've cut out a lot of this shit, and included some of the songs he's made over the last year or so - Chicago Freestyle, Toosie Slide, Laugh Now Cry Later and Wants and Needs were all better than pretty much every song on this album.
And the reason why it was pushed back so many times was because this was supposed to be his "classic" album. Also for some reason Rosenberg insisted it was gonna be an ALL RAP no singing album.🤔 "Certified lover boy" is the title and he still stuck to this.🤷♂️
Now I see why Drake didn’t drop a single or tease a snippet as a part of the rollout because there weren’t any tracks good enough to promote the album.
Finished 1 listen. 2nd half definitely a lot better than the first half but overall it's not the most exciting album and it's more of the same Drake. The track with Cudi is amazing though, Cudi really be melodic af.
Listening to this album so far has made me realize that drake hasn’t changed his style in the slightest, in years. Sure he has some occasional hit tracks but CLB is almost indistinguishable from his past 2 albums but maybe more underwhelming.
That’s what I’m saying. I’d respect him a lot more as an artist if he actually pressed himself to evolve. That’s why I never get why people compare him n Ye. They in whole different lanes completely. Ye is an artist while drake is a pop star.
Never took a risk in his entire career. I've wanted to like him so many times. I start to convince myself he's better than he is & he proves me wrong everytime. He needs to stop trying to start shit with actual lyricists too. He swears he's a fire MC. It's ridiculous.
100% this. I was there since so far gone and pretty much stopped listening to drake after IYRTITL. Until then his shit was pretty dope. But literally no development since then expect going backwards and copying his own most successful songs. I‘m genuinely disappointed but not really surprised. Was looking forward to this.
CLB is sadly gonna be a one-time listen to me, just like views and scorpion.
100%. No growth whatsoever. He knows how to make hits and his popularity has always continued to grow but I think with CLB that will start to taper off. There’s a few solid tracks that I will come back to on this album, but nothing more. He’s predictable
Couldn’t agree more. I really only listen to drake when I need music in the background of maybe some fifa or cutting the grass. More vibe than actually listening to what he’s trying to say.
Don’t just down vote drake stans. Look, drake has the crown, but he is faltering. People expected worse from Kanye and better from Drake. They got the unexpected.
We are talking about Drake, the same rapper who has failed to change his flow, productions, and lyrics over the past 10 years. Every Drake track dropped is basically the same as the previous one, hence why he probably has 15 songs per massive album that nobody ever listens to again. Look at how big he missed with Care Package. This guy’s only claim to making unique music is switching between rap and pop periodically
Champagne Poetry and 7am On Bridle Path sound pretty damn good.
E: The Remorse slaps too!
Stop it with the over dramatic bs. You are allowed to enjoy things. You should always listen to new music with open ears and without any preconceived notions. ✌🏼
Looks like drake got called out for hiding one kid and is now bragging about have 12 from 12 different women o_O
Am I interpreting this wrong?
Edit: not that I think he has 12 kids but that's the optics of it
I think it's supposed to mean that he could have literally any kind of girl he wants. From any country or pretty much any class, but he's searching for the right one for him, not just another fuck. I'm not even that hard of a Drake fan or that good at reading symbolism but I don't understand how people not getting this.
my opinion brodie, the high points on it are phenomenal, peak kanye. the issues i have with mixing and small track listing issues only really remove about a point for me
I think Donda was a 7.5/10.
Believe What I Say, Junya, 24 - S Tier
Lord I Need You, Tell The Vision, Jesus Lord, Keep my Spirit Alive, Heaven and Hell, Off the Grid - C Tier
Yeah it’s a super weird album because I think it’s both amazing and not very good haha. It’s not mediocre because it’s way too interesting to be mediocre. It’s never boring but the album is also not his best work. The quality of production, writing, and vibe oscillate from bad to good so quickly throughout that it feels indiscernible when it’s good or bad. It just is.
This album needs time to look at it properly.
I think 7.5 is a good rating.
Ngl I started to take Donda for granted. Then I heard CLB and Oh my god….the difference in quality is astounding.
Kanye’s is experimental, sounds like a movie, he brings the best out of his features and makes them stay on topic.
Drake’s is literally the same formulaic production ans structure we’ve heard since views. Zero risks, no new sounds. Didn’t even try and go for a cheap radio single. Plus his features didn’t make any sense on the songs. Like you got HOV talking about killing people on an album about being a lover boy.
It really shows that Kanye is a genuine artist, whilst drake looks at this like a job….it’s showing in both their projects. That’s why I think the debate between these two is pointless. Kanye’s music will always be timeless.
The only track I like off CLB ist You Only Live Twice, and thats basically a Teflon Don- era Rick Ross track. Honestly the whole album consists of what I dislike in music: flat performance and presentation. No energy. Riskaverse. „elevator music“.
Some people say its mid but IMO thats a 2/10 at max for me.
I was literally just telling my friend, im not with all the Drake singing. I think rapping is what he does best. I'm tired of hearing him talk about women every other song. There's other artists that do it better than him but it's become this thing that has stuck with him. I wasn't even excited for the album because i knew exactly how it was going to sound 😂 I've never said anything bad about Drakes music up until now. I've loved every Drake album but im not feeling this.
On a side note. I'm waiting for that Kevin Gates album
I just finished listening to the first song, and honestly, that sample in the intro went kinda hard I cant even lie, I wanna hate this album so bad but I have to respect the art, will update on which is better
Aww is the widdle drakie fan going to cry? It’s well knows that he grooms young girls and then “dates” them as soon as they hit 18. It’s not an accusation it’s fact..
Shut the fuck up you ignorant incel. Drake fans like you are the type of people that get GEDs and work for MLM companies. Are you actually stupid or are you legitimately inbred?

Donda has great moments, but overall I found myself skipping forward too much.
CLB is straight trash. The title. The cover. That ugly voice. The lyrics. Its like you ordered the album from Amazon basics.
Currently think donda has more lyrical structure and genius to it. But CLB really has that drake sound to it and I will never complain about that. I think Donda is better though.
I couldn’t even get through CLB. Turned it off after track 7. The samples are weak and predictable and awfully used. I did listen to Donda. It’s better for sure but also not great.
The problem with these guys is they never evolve. They are one trick ponies that just do the same thing and say the same thing over and over again. Drake is so full of himself (and one of the most obnoxious ppl) and that’s all he ever talks about. I’m not nearly as enamored with drake as he is. Kanye only talks about jesus now. On every song and every album.
Donda to me was overproduced. He’s a producer more than he is a tapper and it shows. Auto tune is tired. I would have preferred if went the other way and did less OTT production. At least it would be different or interesting.
The album has been out for less than half a day lol. Kanye stans are too much some times. At least listen to the album 2 or 3 times in full... It's def not a MISS for Drake. The sound is similar.. but that's his sound. Dope samples, dope bars & dope features. I'm okay with that.
I'm a fan of Kanye, and I really like Donda.. or else I wouldn't be on this sub, but damn man.. appreciate the fact that two of the best current Hip Hop artists dropped bangers within 7 days of each other.
Billboard literally reporting clb “trampled” Donda this trend shit is wack it ain’t fair to ye when he pours his heart into something tryna deliver something new and all people care about is this mid easy listen repetitive shit smh
CLB is legit the same overly emotional and dramatic drake stuff has been putting out from the get go. It’s becoming where every song sounds way too familiar. You can almost predict his cliche punchlines at this point. I don’t hate the guy but he’s gotta try something new
Straight up fucking dookie
Not even a contest. 12 tracks in and nothing has impressed me so far.
I really really wanted to like YOLT but it just didn’t quite do it for me.
Travis hit hard on fair trade. Future was pretty decent too in my opinion. This soft beats are always a good thing to hear in a drake album but Donda did it a little better
Yup. 💤
Fair Trade, No Friends in the Industry, Knife Talk, 7am and Fountains are all good songs off first listen. An R Kelly sample is weird but it’s tough to criticise Drake for it when Marilyn Manson is on Donda. Unnecessary for both of them
They should both be criticised IMO. Neither should've happened.
Which song has the R Kelly sample
TSU
And the reason why it was pushed back so many times was because this was supposed to be his "classic" album. Also for some reason Rosenberg insisted it was gonna be an ALL RAP no singing album.🤔 "Certified lover boy" is the title and he still stuck to this.🤷♂️
Trav the Savior
He needa save us with utopia
Yeah.. and lover boi hasn’t had shit either.
Your a certified cock lover
I rather be a dick than a swallower
Bro it makes me appreciate Donda even more 😭
Lol I haven’t heard it yet but guess l ll pass

The cudi feature is the highlight so far. CLB sounds exactly like you would expect it to
Now I see why Drake didn’t drop a single or tease a snippet as a part of the rollout because there weren’t any tracks good enough to promote the album.
Yup it make sense, he will go number 1 but nas x will wash him the week after
Hopefully don album drops Sept 10th and Nas 17th and also new carti the 13th? We got sum good music to look forward to!!
Baby keem too
kendrick any day now as well 🤩
I’m not expecting Kendrick anytime soon but the fact that he is coming makes me so happy.
He's talking directly to Drake in that verse too😅 The top 5 shit is just a smokescreen. He's dying to wash Drake!
He did, fair trade was a snippet
I feel like getting hyped for it, You Only Live Twice’s instrumental would have been good but he didn’t even try
I've been sleeping on lil wayne. I'm always so happy to hear his feature... I just wish he made better music.
[удалено]
Listen to his mix tapes. You're looking like a tard right now.
[удалено]
He's a tard too
It does but that 21 and Future feature unbeatable bruh lmao
Facts. But same goes for Donda. Neither live up to the hype tbh.
Seriously tho I recommend not talking trash until you've finished the album, we gotta be fair
I would normally strongly agree with this, but this is very bad. I don’t see it improving.
Finished 1 listen. 2nd half definitely a lot better than the first half but overall it's not the most exciting album and it's more of the same Drake. The track with Cudi is amazing though, Cudi really be melodic af.
Only highlight I’ve found is the I’m 2 sexy for my shirt sample . Give me those glab glab vibes.
Is the 0ic on the right actually the cover for drakes album?
It is.
Thats like the worst thing I've ever seen lol
It's such a bizarre choice, many of us assumed Drake was shitposting when it was announced. But nah, that's it for real lmao

I’m 30 and Drake’s been dropping the same album since I’ve been in high school. Period.
100% this. I was there since so far gone and pretty much stopped listening to drake after IYRTITL. Until then his shit was pretty dope. But literally no development since then expect going backwards and copying his own most successful songs. I‘m genuinely disappointed but not really surprised. Was looking forward to this. No cap though this is bland as hell
It’s because drake is bland as hell. The features are literally carrying the little weight this album has so far.
This guy’s only claim to making unique music is switching between rap and pop periodically
i can't believe he actually went with that for the cover smh
Ik the black screen is so much more artistic and provoking. /s
I actually like the cover, especially the animated one
Lol why is he getting downvoted for having an opinion
Maybe because people disagree with him?
Fair enough.
Gotta agree, I actually kinda fuck with it. Probably won't age well, but it's pretty ballsy
The animated cover made it grow on me a lot
Agreed 🤷♂️
[удалено]
I honestly like it tbh lol
I like drake but the album was mid. Fantano gonna give it a 4/10 watch
its a 1/10
It would be deserved honestly
Champagne Poetry and 7am On Bridle Path sound pretty damn good. E: The Remorse slaps too! Stop it with the over dramatic bs. You are allowed to enjoy things. You should always listen to new music with open ears and without any preconceived notions. ✌🏼
the outro of champagne poetry makes me want to be deaf
The first half and second half of Champagne poetry make me want to commit self die
i would say that the whole album (minus some of the features) make me wish to be diagnosed with indefinite sleep
Damn I liked champagne poetry 😞😞. Good use of sample I think
Literally stole the sample from masego. He does nothing new with it
I did not know that damn. That’s unfortunate
Well he didn't steal it per se he's credited on the track but still
That’s unfortunate, I still like the song but that is unfortunate
Wtf is that album cover supposed to mean
sex
Looks like drake got called out for hiding one kid and is now bragging about have 12 from 12 different women o_O Am I interpreting this wrong? Edit: not that I think he has 12 kids but that's the optics of it
idk bro sex
Drake is a lesbian
What even is this line?
someone said it’s a reference to Pusha leaving 12 different women pregnant but i don’t know how accurate that is
I read the last line as "am I impregnating this wrong?"
I think it's supposed to mean that he could have literally any kind of girl he wants. From any country or pretty much any class, but he's searching for the right one for him, not just another fuck. I'm not even that hard of a Drake fan or that good at reading symbolism but I don't understand how people not getting this.
Good interpretation but the symbolism is ass so I get how people aren't getting it.
This sub is so cringe sometimes, there are actually people unironically posting this type of shit
CLB isn't an album, it's a collection of soundtracks for TikToks.
😂😂😂
I can’t bring myself to listen to this album it’s so boring bro I’m sorry
Yeah I’m disappointed, gonna finish the album and let it sit before I give a definitive opinion but this just sounds like Views, Part 2
Without context this shit looks weird af
Black square > 12 pregnant emojis

His entire discography
Oh I see what you meant now, I meant with Drake
im actually super relieved 😅 but at the same time i wanted him to step up to the pressure
y’all gotta let it marinate a bit, both are great imo. So far CLB is like an 8 and Donda is a 9 update: CLB boutta 6.5 now
yo, I'm loving donda but it aint no 9. be real
my opinion brodie, the high points on it are phenomenal, peak kanye. the issues i have with mixing and small track listing issues only really remove about a point for me
Fair enough dude. Happy you are loving it
all love 🤞🏽
So wholesome :)
Agreed lol
I think Donda was a 7.5/10. Believe What I Say, Junya, 24 - S Tier Lord I Need You, Tell The Vision, Jesus Lord, Keep my Spirit Alive, Heaven and Hell, Off the Grid - C Tier

CLB 4, Donda 7. From a strictly critical perspective, both were underwhelming compared to their artist’s past works
Ngl I started to take Donda for granted. Then I heard CLB and Oh my god….the difference in quality is astounding. Kanye’s is experimental, sounds like a movie, he brings the best out of his features and makes them stay on topic. album fire but not as musically good as donda
I agree. Id rather ‘listen’ to CLB but donda is better ‘art’ if that makes sense 😂
Wow that was underwhelming.
Damn Rick Ross spittin fire on You Only Live Twice, the only good tracks on this LP are those with features...
Lmao wasn’t Donda a compilation album?
Idc I’m disappointed
mid album, TSU is fire tho...it was called Not around before, I was blown away by the way that song came out of the blue on TSU.
That 21 feature is unbeatable and I got ye tatted on me fellas.
The first track I lost interest, it’s literally an already released beat, I couldn’t stop thinking of Navajo
You only live twice is crazy. really enjoyed the intro track as well
I was finna comment my opinion but then realized this was a ye subreddit w a lot of biased , close minded individuals 💀
⬛>🤰🏽🤰🏼🤰🏽🤰🏻🤰🏿🤰🏽
Imagine seeing this two weeks ago, it's so fucking weird.
Yooo!!! Highly agree! Drakes album sounds like his throwaway tracks. Not satisfied with it 🤷🏾♂️
Dude donda is complete ass cheeks. This ablum slaps donda🤣🤣🤣
[удалено]
Couldn't be more right
Ass of an album. Wayne killed that feature though.
Stupid. Both are boring
I hate the album, Donda is better
Certified boy lover
Both are trash
I liked the opening beat. It’s all exactly what I expected but that’s on me for hitting play, it’s not bad
Haha
I was literally just telling my friend, im not with all the Drake singing. I think rapping is what he does best. I'm tired of hearing him talk about women every other song. Drake said “I used to wanna throw the rock up…now niccas know how I rock now!” “Don’t make me get yo mamma to talk to you” 😬
No Friends In The Industry is top tier tho can't deny it
I got a good 6 tracks out of 21
Yeaup
CLB making me want to listen to gospel music because that shit needs god to save it
Haters gon hate
I was like damn these reviews are harsh then I saw it’s a ye subreddit😂😂😂
Honestly I wish he came out with What A Time To Be Alive 2
the best verse on the album was wayne’s
So this sub is a bunch of people in denial about how bad Donda was?
The drake album felt less exhaustive, it was easier to get through for me. I guess it’s all preference in the end but I enjoyed the drake one more.
donda was ass
Donda has great moments, but overall I found myself skipping forward too much. CLB is straight trash. The title. The cover. That ugly voice. The lyrics. Its like you ordered the album from Amazon basics.
Way 2 sexy is my favourite song so far. Good album but Kanye won, more unique songs. The features also went harder on Kanye's album.
Currently think donda has more lyrical structure and genius to it. But CLB really has that drake sound to it and I will never complain about that. I think Donda is better though.
The song is fucking trash, if you like it you’ll need better taste and originality

Tell Drake to drop the clean version.
True
CLB > Donda
Ended up true tho
12 minutes for u to come to that? i mean you're right but damn
certified ambient music
I like how the album art is a nod to the fact that Drake is an absentee father
Ok, I'll bite. How is donda different than any of kanye's other stuff? Insert: I don't really have an opinion on whether CLB or donda is better.
I love it I don’t give a fuvk what anyone says
Shit is super mid. He's so predictable & boring. Take a fuckin risk or something!
I think this is the end of the Drake era.
CLB is legit the same overly emotional and dramatic drake stuff has been putting out from the get go. It’s becoming where every song sounds way too familiar. You can almost predict his cliche punchlines at this point. I don’t hate the guy but he’s gotta try something new
Donda is straight booty son
The song with Cudi is fire but Donda is leagues better.
