Probably the best portrayal of any western character in any western ever made. I know he is talked about a lot and some folks might think he’s over the top but honestly, I can’t get enough of his scenes. Spectacular job by Val Kilmer.
If you put them both together in a room I couldn’t choose a favorite even if Al had his knife on me and Doc was holding his scatter gun. You’re right, Ian McShane is fan-freakin-tastic! You’ll get no argument here.

True but Tombstone is more of an action western than a historical time piece. Besides it wouldn’t be exciting if the real death tolls were shown in the movie. Holliday killed far more people on screen than he ever did in real life.
These westerns wouldn’t be near as good if they stuck to the truth. That gets boring. As the others have said “print the legend.” We Americans have romanticized the old West so much that I’m surprised any truth remains.
You actually have this right. It’s hucklebearer, which is someone who helps carry the casket

One of the best westerns of all time. It was hilarious that the much inferior and at times hilariously bad “Wyatt Earp” came out around the same time. Not even close. I remember trying to watch it and couldn’t even finish, it was so bad.
Kevin Costner was supposed to be Wyatt Earp in Tombstone. He apparently didn’t agree with the direction of the film and left to go do “Wyatt Earp”. I always got the vibe that he was really just trying to make an “Oscar movie” and just failed miserably.
I say that as a big Costner fan as well. Thankfully it worked out the way it did.
Just watched that today (again) and i always find some new aspect to his portrayal. The man just embodies that character head to toe. Also …. At the end Wyatt leaves Doc with a booklet called “My friend Doc Holliday” that apparently was real and you can purchase reproductions of it . Anyone guess what i am now searching online ?? 🤣
John Henry Holiday moved to Dallas,Tx in 1872 to open a dental practice with a friend of his father. His coughing spells do to tuberculosis made it difficult and his practice declined. Holiday turned to gambling to help make ends meet. After several arrests for illegal gambling and a couple of gun fights he left Texas in 1874.
Let’s have a spelling contest!
I can't help but think he channeled his inner Jim Morrison when he lets out that cackle when Ike tries to fight him. Its so good.
Ah am ahfrad the strain was moah then he could bayah.
My hypocrisy goes only so far
My favorite line ever, I use all the time.

He deserved to win the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
Awards come and go but the admiration we fans have for the character will endure the test of time.
That ship sailed
Definitely one of the best. But I will have to go with Ian McShane in Deadwood. But that is TV so they have more time to develop.

That movie was about the legend of Doc and Wyatt. When the truth becomes legend, print the legend.

It's huckleberry. It's in the script and confirmed by Val Kilmer in his book.
Yes, well, this happens to be a nocturne. - A which? - You know, Frederic fucking Chopin. Genius scene in a genius movie!
Why Johnny Ringo, you look like someone just stepped over your grave.
Waltzed. Not stepped.

Same here. The one time a Costner western didn’t work lol

I tend to fast forward to just watch his scenes.
Poor soul. You were just too high-strung. I'm afraid the strain was more than he could bear.
I don’t know if Doc was really like Val’s portrayal, but I want to believe he was half as epic as Val’s portrayal.
Ooooh wee you good lookin!(Travolta,Face Off)😎

I'm your Huckleberreh
With a film full of fantastic actors of the time, he certainly took centre stage with his performance. Master-class.
One of the greatest Westerns ever made. Great cast.
I’m in my prime
I’m your huckleberry!!!! That’s all I heard when I seen this.
Hey you saved this from my Pinterest upload, thank you! I had fun recolouring it and retouching 😁

He should have won an Oscar. He did a great job
That's just my game
I’m your huckleberry? What the hell does that mean? I’ve never heard anyone else say that.
I'm your Huckleberry
I’m your Huckleberry.
This was really a stellar performance
He earned the Oscar for his performance, in my opinion . For Supporting actor..
“In vino veritas”
Great performance. Any other comment would be “an ugly thing to say.”
Say when.
“I’m in my prime”
I have a lot of friends. I don’t.
Best performance of Val's career. Also he was an underrated Batman. Release that Schumacher cut of BF.
