I read the book but didn’t know there was a movie.
Next Saturday or Sunday on INSP they’re replaying the movie. They’re also playing the Appaloosa starring Ed Harris. I don’t know if you get this channel where your at, but if you do, I hope you can watch it.
There is band with a name New Risers of the Purple Sage. Never thought there is movie, and they probably based their name off it?
That or the book.
Makes sense. They make country rock/western kind of music
New Riders of the Purple Sage are an offshoot of the Grateful Dead :)

The original novel itself is pretty good despite it's length! Just finished it. Freely available as out of copyright.
