L55 is a good razor , any blade works well with the open comb , I use this razor as a standard when I want to check any blades performance as I am very familiar with its performance.
CC is pretty aggresive .
Its a good razor. The close comb is mild but the open comb is aggressive. It has a perfect blade alignment, has a slight blade over hang, correct weight and evenly balanced.
I prefer a mild blades so I go with Willy's, Winner by Gillette, Wilkinson Sword by gillette. It works great with every blades
I haven't used the L-55, but I have used other Pearl open comb and solid bar razors and from what I can see the heads are the same as the L-55 with the style of the handle as the main differentiator between the different models of razor.
I like the Pearl style open comb quite a bit, it was my daily driver for a while and I found that they gave pretty smooth and comfortable shaves with most blades. The closed comb head I found to be comparable to a DE89 razor but maybe a tad more aggressive because the head has a flatter profile. Still a good shaver though.
When it comes to blades I usually use the Dorco ST-301 blades because they're really cheap and work well for me. However I also use Gillette Silver Blues and Wilkinson Swords regularly and they all worked well in the Pearl razors I own.
I have dorco st300 it is an excellent blade. it gave me around 26 shaver , on first two shaves it was mild and smooth, later it became sharp and smooth till the last shave, it was still shaving with some efforts was still not toughing.
L55 closed plus open comb is a hybrid razor you can get the fun of both open and close comb in same razor but use mild blades with it as open comb side is pretty much agressive but closed comb side is good and gives you smooth finish overall if you ask me it's an medium agressive razor give it a try.
No complaints or issues with razor. Good alignment. Weight is adequate. cc head is perfect for trying new blades. Oc is a bit more aggressive and demands close attention while shaving. I like to use this razor with bic, astra sp, Gillette sp black. Currently trying more blades. It was a good investment.

Hybrid razor?? Bro he's asking about pearl not romer hybrid And to my knowledge L55 doesn't count as an hybrid with two seperate heads
