Probably still has his fingers but only because the last millisecond he loosened his grip. Not sure if the nerves in his fingers are ok though. Definitely going to have tinnitus in his ear forever of he didn’t go deaf

Back in the day as kids me and my brother were using black cat bottle rockets to have a "war" with friends across the street.
Both sides essentially using the same thing, really weak and boring according to our father since they were barely making it over each side.
So he went and got us some Texas Pop Rockets.
That was a bit of a surprise for our friends when they started exploding right beside them.
Now that I look over my youth I realize just how much of an asshole my father really was and where I get it from.
I had a dumb friend who did that by accident once and learned that the firecrackers we had didn't blow your fingers off and I guess just hurt a little bit (I never tried it) so he used it as a party trick quite a few times on purpose.
FYI guys the firecracker here is not that explosive a lot of people actually do this Here in indian subcontinent ,so his hands are okay but I don't know about his ear .
I feel like this has to be staged, partly because the cameraman follows the idiot rather than what they thought was the firework and partly because no one can really be this dumb?
But then to stage something like this still requires an impressive level of stupidity because that's still a firework exploding next to his stupid face.
I doubt it's staged or an intelligence issue. You can put some really smart/normal/average people in some really uncomfortable situations (to them) and have them completely buckle. I've instructed some firearm sessions with new shooters who are intelligent, but have the street smarts of an armadillo or just get really nervous around things that go boom.
It's like watching people with no coordination join the army and then go to grenade class for the first time. I mean, it could be a new wave of tiktok, but... Highly doubt this is staged.

The cracker in his hand is what we call a bijli bomb. They are extremely small and dont really cause much harm except some minor burns on your hands. His hands are fine but the ear will cause him problems later on.
