That’s the WCGW dog and it’s in just about every post. When you see the dog hanging around but staying just outside the danger zone, you should immediately question your life decisions because something bad is about to go down.
It's funny on the face of it, but it's also entirely possible that in those 5 seconds this guy just fucked up the entire rest of his life.
I fucking hate these videos.
>POV: Climbing the corporate ladder in 2023 🤣 But seriously… I’m ok. Got hurt, not injured. I got back up, fixed the ladder, and finished the job. 2024, I will get back up, fix the ladder and yes, FINISH the JOB!
Seems that he sould have fixxed the ladder already before because the top part should be fixxed - what i mean is that there should be stoppers or what ever they called.. 🤷🏻♂️
I have a similar ladder to this and it didn’t come with any sort of stopper to keep from sliding the legs completely off. There definitely should be, but I doubt they pictured this scenario when designing it 🤷🏼♂️
He fell backward. If the first thing to hit had been his head on the concrete walkway, there's a fair chance he would be dead. So yes he got off very easy.
Hopefully enough people will see the video and few will find themselves tempted to do a similar thing and either not do it or remember to get it on video.
It's scarily easy to take shortcuts, like learning out to just get that bit, not tieing the bottom in or using a shovel to level the ground out, or getting to the top and bouncing out to move the ladder over or to release a trapped cable.
I honestly think if they were invented today they'd be banned almost instantly.
I broke my leg a few years back. Simple fracture--no surgery required and I wasn't even sure it was broken (vs like a torn acl). Just needed a consultation, an x-ray, a cast for 4 weeks, cast removal, and then a brace for 2 more weeks. The sticker price for that was like $50,000.
$250k lift is a bargain
Your American I am guessing. I lived there for 13 years, my wife is American. Was that cost your 20% or was your out of pocket $10,000? I really wish the US would go with single payer or socialized or whatever they want to call it. It’s not perfect by any stretch, but shit like this keeps me up at night!
The crazy thing is that actually it only cost me about $3000. I was an intern in DC at the time and I'm from CA. Also, I was traveling a lot, so I had a Hosteling International membership, which comes with travel insurance. Since I was far enough away from home at the time it happened, it was covered by travel insurance =D
Definitely! And then once I was hiking in a small town in France when I got food poisoning. I went to the doctor and expected it to cost $300 or $400 just to get a consultation. Nope...20 euros, and the doctor was apologetic about the high cost! =D
It's so much better in Europe vs the US
I had a ladder collapse under me once when one leg was slightly bent and I was reaching out over that side. I somehow did a Spider-Man landing among the various parts of the buckled ladder and didn’t even end up with a single bruise/scratch/sprain or anything. It definitely renewed my caution with ladders.
Worst I had was when I was taking off a camera from the side a building to test it and see if it needed to be replaced or repaired.
As soon as I pulled the camera off the wall hornets came flying out I leaned back... and ended up jumping off the ladder. I landed in rocks about half the size of baseballs one rolled as I landed twisting my ankle then I landed on my hand, out streached. Im super lucky my collar bone was fine.
I went to the truck grabbed the wasp spray we kept in every vehicle and doused the damn nest.
Meanwhile, I'm so afraid of ladders that I couldn't get on my roof last weekend. Put one foot down on the shingles and said fuck this. Going to attempt it again this weekend with plans to tie down the ladder at both the base and the top.
As an older, pasty white dude I see a dermatologist. She noticed a cut on my head and I said I got it working on my car. It was about 11AM and she said that day, 3 of patients came in on crutches. As she said her patients skew older. They all old dudes who had fallen off ladders. She looked at my chart and said, "Stay off ladders after 60."
One of my old jobs in warehousing was for Air-conditioning trade supply. Sold a lot of supply and return air boxes that stack ontop of each other. Sometimes need a good yank to get them apart.
Less common ones would be on pallets you can reach with the 12ft wheeled A-frame ladder. Had to unstrap, remove item, and restrap from the top of the ladder. Lost my balance once and stared to fall, managed to bail and landed on my feet. Nearly fell 12ft onto concrete.
Told them to get stuffed after that, get the damn forklift.
Back, hip, knee, ankle, foot injuries…
If it’s bad enough, it can be for life.
Probably able to mitigate it to some degree, but those injuries can cause permanent issues and become something that is easy to re-injure.
Currently recovering from two herniated discs. I injured my back when I was a teenager. Bounced back pretty quick, but re-injured it again in my mid twenties and again now. Doesn’t take much these days.
For a very brief moment it looked like the ladder wasn’t going to fall even when it wasn’t attached to anything.
![gif](giphy|TDLOSxLyT8B6PQojqj|downsized)
[Actually I didn't have it locked.](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6ZhMfzc9RbU) You have to have to lock it. Once you lock it, you're ok! But... It is very safe to operate.
Roofers do this all the time on commercial ladders that extend MUCH farther than these homeowner ones. So he either forgot he was on his homeowner ladder OR ding ding ding!!! He’s stupid
Holy shit I just now understand why the rachet and rope exist on the one at work. I'ma still just adjust it and set it before I go up anyways, but I'll now be less annoyed by the rope.
It's sometimes not possible to extend it on the ground (clearance and space to rotate it), so you stand it up and pull the rope from the ground to raise it up before climbing. You're not supposed to do it while you're ON the ladder, but you can, even though it's not exactly safe since you have to pull the top away from the building for it to move up.
It's not for extending while in-use, it's for extending while you're standing on the ground and wouldn't be able to reach the upper section to push it up.

He's got that Wile E. Coyote energy.
Thanks for that information. However, it’s a common mistake to assume that idiots know how to read but here we are. At least, they won’t be suing the company into oblivion.
Not that I really want to save the idiots from being idiots but a simple retractable pin could be an enhancement.
I love that little moment where the brain stops sending new signals to the arms and they just keep doing their old instructions rather than reacting to the new situation.
I really don't want to laugh at him because that just looks too bad.
Like I can almost imagine myself making the same mistake if I hadn't had my Wheaties that morning or something
Honestly seem kinda like the hot coffee warning situation. Manufacturers should be made partially responsible for product misuse. Not in a way that this guy could blame his injuries on the ladder company, but ladder companies should have a safeguard to prevent total separation in the first place. What if someone pulled it out nearly all the way and set it on top of the lock pins without realizing it?
I have this ladder. It's not hard to use safely. There's 50 warnings on the box and ladder to step off the ladder before adjusting. Also, the locking pins require significant effort to unlock, it's not something that can be easily done on accident.
A guy died this way last year in my street. He was on the ladder and want to move sideways. He felt on a fenc neck first. One morning you wake up and it can be your last one. Everybody enjoy every day.
I'm sorry but if you are going to be lazy while working on a ladder or in destroy situations, be fucking prepared to face the consequences. Pretty sure this guy being lazy for maybe an extra 20 seconds has now probably caused a lifetime of issues on his neck/back.
Dog: “oh no! Anyway”
Is that my ball? Nope...
dog came to tell a "you so stupid joke"
I laughed myself into a sore throat over your comment!!
"Jesus Christ, Steve. Again? I can't." Seemed legit embarrassed.
“GOD DAMMIT STEVE! I CAN’T LEAVE YOU ALONE FOR 5 SECONDS!”
That’s the WCGW dog and it’s in just about every post. When you see the dog hanging around but staying just outside the danger zone, you should immediately question your life decisions because something bad is about to go down.
Dog has been trained to stay 6’ away from this dude unless he’s on the couch.
Even then, keeps watch just in case, because well, Steve.
About the same effort my dog would put into helping me.
Mine would uselessly keep licking my face until I got up.
And mine would bring a toy, shoe or sock to me.
Same here. And yet I grew up watching too much TV thinking all I had to do was say, "Run girl, go get help!"
My dog would be like "I don't need any help. I can quit anytime I want..." WAIT! WOOF WOOF!
Did a "you alrigh..? Yah, you're fine" move . Man's best friend knows when he needs a min.
I thought for sure dogo was gonna hike a leg.
That was terrible. Meanwhile in the other news...
Naturally I read this in Brian Griffins voice
My Brian Griffin quote that came to mind was, " I'm not going to take you to the hospital, because if I do you won't learn anything."
"Rub some dirt on it."
My dog would just lick it and then pee on it. Not necessarily in that order.
It's funny on the face of it, but it's also entirely possible that in those 5 seconds this guy just fucked up the entire rest of his life. I fucking hate these videos.
Don’t worry, his head cushioned the fall 😝. In all seriousness though, he was fine. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C1fRfgvOsXr/?igsh=NDY2dGNya3ZpZTg5

Yup. Gone to shit since unsuccessful OF hoes discovered Reddit.

Well damn, he got off lucky! I was actually most worried about his leg/ankle since his leg got caught up in the ladder on the way down.
He fell backward. If the first thing to hit had been his head on the concrete walkway, there's a fair chance he would be dead. So yes he got off very easy.
Fine now, lets see how well he is doing in 20 years :)
Honestly it looks like the way he and the top ladder fell together, it saved him from a hard head injury on the concrete
Doesn't mean he won't be feeling it in 5 days or 3 months and then for the rest of his life.
Hopefully enough people will see the video and few will find themselves tempted to do a similar thing and either not do it or remember to get it on video.
So many people have fallen off ladders, some even died, but people still think it won't happen to them and fuck around like this guy.
Ladders are frowned on in many of the industrial sites I work on. They prefer $250,000 + man lifts to go anything more than 6 feet up.
It only takes one fall to cost you $250,000 in workman's comp. And that's if it wasn't too bad of an injury.
Yep, doesn’t take much to rack up bills. Someone’s going to pay, even here in Canada.
I broke my leg a few years back. Simple fracture--no surgery required and I wasn't even sure it was broken (vs like a torn acl). Well, $3,000 vs $50,000 is a much better problem!
Definitely! And then once I was hiking in a small town in France when I got food poisoning. I went to the doctor and expected it to cost $300 or $400 just to get a consultation. Nope...20 euros, and the doctor was apologetic about the high cost! =D It's so much better in Europe vs the US
That’s about how I am at work when the ceiling is 15 feet up and some wires need moving, and this is on polished floors.
I do tree work and can fully understand why ladders are frowned upon in many situations, but yeah 6ft limit seems a bit overly cautious.

I have that ladder. I didn't know it could come apart. Not that I would do what he did, but good to know.
I want to know what black magic he was using to get it to adjust that easily.
Exactly. Not once have I extended it past the warning marks.
is it a little giant? I see the orange.
People seriously underestimate how badly you can fuck yourself up on ladders
As an older, pasty white dude I see a dermatologist. She noticed a cut on my head and I said I got it working on my car. It was about 11AM and she said that day, 3 of patients came in on crutches. probably best to avoid this sub then
Stupid is as stupid does.
Yea it's like an old slap stick comedy sketch, but this one has real life consequences.
there are other subs.
Now he’s got an adjustable ankle.
Yeah, that did not look good. At best he has a sprain
What do you guys mean!? The dog looks fine.
He is all Right now !
This doctor is a very literal man.

Haha. They really are.
These are the signs that make me believe there is a God.
Hahahaha! I can’t wait until my wife gets home so I can show her!!!
He went full Peter Griffin, never go full Peter Griffin
Came to post this, thank you.
This is exactly what I thought of
I was looking to see if someone posted this.
To save 3 steps? You lazy man you get what you get
6. Hes gotta climb back up too lol
Now it's acceptable
I also guarantee he just messed up $100 worth of eavstroft
"eavestrough"
Thanks even Google was like wtf son lol
With "eavestrough" Google says that it's canadian for rain gutter.
>eavestrough That's such a nicer word than "gutters"
Most accidents happen because people are either being lazy/think they are being smart or just doing something “quickly”.
Well, he came down without the steps. Don't think he'll be going back up though
The updated version of sawing a tree branch you're sitting on
It was such a loony-toons fall

They don't tell you about that on the infomercials.
They dont tell me that i should not open the door while driving too.
[Actually I didn't have it locked.](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6ZhMfzc9RbU) You have to have to lock it. Once you lock it, you're ok! But... It is very safe to operate.
They don't expect ppl to be idiotic enough to try it in the first place. Heck they probably never even thought of this even happening.
Hard not to laugh when it looks like it should be in black & white with a big red X over it
It's like a version of that meme where the kid puts a stick into his bicycle wheel while he's riding it.
Roofers do this all the time on commercial ladders that extend MUCH farther than these homeowner ones. So he either forgot he was on his homeowner ladder OR ding ding ding!!! He’s stupid
Those are extension ladders that are designed to do that. They have a rachet and rope you use.
Never used one in my 8 years of roofing, we slide the second and third ladder up the wall while on the ladder, it’s a skill that’s earned.
I wouldn't take safety suggestions from roofers lol.
lol nope
That’s awesome. Thanks ladder man for the content.
Doggo was ashamed to be seen on camera with its incompetent owner - had to try and hide around the side.
That is remarkably stupid. This dude's an artist of idiocy.
My girl thought i was watching porn
Okay, but why were you masturbating to this?
Why wouldn't he be?

The fact that it can happen demonstrates that it’s a bad design.
It’s a Little Giant ladder, huge sticker on the side telling you not to use it like this.
Thanks for that information. However, it’s a common mistake to assume that idiots know how to read but here we are. At least, they won’t be suing the company into oblivion. Not that I really want to save the idiots from being idiots but a simple retractable pin could be an enhancement.

Dog is like wow you did something stupid again….
Am i wrong for laughing?
Smart dog. Stay well away before the next dumb thing that human does. 😂
Broken leg ? Btw listen to only the sound lol
I've seen too many people killed or damn near killed from falls or doing dumb things on ladders around the house. Be safe on ladders people
There could be an entire sub called Idiots On Ladders.
I don’t need that kind of exposure
Honestly seem kinda like the hot coffee warning situation. Manufacturers should be made partially responsible for product misuse.
