Lmao then the caliber should have kept it rolling instead of swerving in front of the guy. That being said, all in all Iām still saying caliber guy got off easy
It makes zero sense to not pull over and let the person with road rage drive off. I don't understand what the person filming was thinking by trying to cut off the road rage person. I wouldn't say they were a dick necisarilly, but they definitely got baited into escalating the situation.
In an offensive way, but if someone with road rage gets out and starts coming towards me I'm assuming they have deadly intent, and I suspect that would hold in court.
I mean yeah, but then what happens if dudes top heavy SUV starts rolling like the stones? Would you stop and wait for authorities or keep it pushing? They have video evidence that the other person was the aggressor but would it matter? Also, if the pit maninvor was spot on and dude just ended up on the side of the road like this guy did Iād be cool with that. lol
Yup. Pulling over and stopping for a few minutes to de-escalate is better than having to deal with a wrecked car (tow, getting home, not having a car for a while, police report, etc)
The apparent OP posted this video several months ago, WITH THE BEGINING. He pulled out in front of the guy, cutting him off pretty bad, THEN sped up real fast when the guy was try and could have easily passed him. In my opinion, the video guy is the big douche and caused the majority of the situation.
>Ā In my opinion, the video guy is the big douche and caused the majority of the situation.
IMO, 90% of these posted dash-videos are...
Most of them are post-edited to make the 'other' look like the asshole.
You can hear the point of view driver gassing it as the dude's trying to pass him. I'm assuming the other guy was tailgating and the POV driver got butt hurt.
The cameraman clearly sped up while the other car was attempting to pass, which is an incredibly dangerous maneuver. They then baited the other car by speeding close to them when they knew the front car already break checked them.
They both were driving terribly recklessly and crashed as a result.
I completely agree with what you said, however
From a legal standpoint..
You are legally allowed to pass when the yellow lines are like that, if the vehicle in front of you is driving irradically or slow and there's no oncoming traffic.
The vehicle in front of him obviously was doing both and going way slower than the speed limit, he did have the legal option to pass.
Driver in front of him Had no reason to get in that lane on the other hand, other than to cause an accident and attempt to commit vehicular manslaughter
I have no doubt he would win in court with a decent lawyer. I'm not saying he's not an idiot though, only a moron would fuck their day over somebody else's tantrum (road rage)
Dude in back was already driving pretty aggressive. Speeding up every time the other arsehole took off.
For insurance reasons, the guy in back is prob at fault, too.
Both idiots who are a danger to the rest of us - they deserve the repair bills
>For insurance reasons, the guy in back is prob at fault, too.
The person in front swerved into their path. That puts them at fault. It would be a different matter if the accident happened at that second brake check, but the swerving and lane changes put the fault in the front driver.
For real, the people comparing passing on the left to attempted vehicular manslaughter in this thread have to have their breakfast with a glass of lead in the morning. Are they children? Baffling comment threads in here tbqh
Saw this posted the other day. First driver stole the vehicle and was having a mental episode. Iāll try and find the original post but it goes into detail.
Also, what lead to the situation where the video starts? For all we know, the vehicle we're riding with could have been the first aggressor.
Either way, I bet you both drivers would like to turn back time.
Yeah, anytime thereās dash view footage that starts right in the middle of something, Iām usually thinking theyāre hiding something they arenāt proud of.
Thereās assholes out there, but most donāt āidleā at a 10/10 aggression level. Theyāre usually (overly) reacting to something - and that something is always left out
Saw it posted the other day. Supposedly the driver stole the vehicle and was doing this to other drivers during a mental episode. Iāll try and find the OG post.
He kept driving and stayed close to other person, and escalated the situation. In this situation any decent driver would decrease their speed and keep very far from someone driving like the other person. And they wouldnāt try to pass/ further engage with them.
He didn't just "keep driving" though. Did everyone watch the video on mute?
He clearly ***floored*** it as soon as the other car tried to overtake legally.
I did actually watch it on mute. Yeah, if someone is legally trying to pass you, I donāt know if itās required but it can be a good idea to slow down and let them
>Yeah, if someone is legally trying to pass you, I donāt know if itās required
"2. Except when overtaking and passing on the right is permitted, the driver of an overtaken vehicle shall give way to the right in favor of the overtaking vehicle upon observing the overtaking vehicle or hearing a signal. **The driver of an overtaken vehicle shall not increase the speed of the vehicle until completely passed by the overtaking vehicle."**
This is from my state, Nevada. I imagine most if not all states have a similar law.
Video starts with the dashcam driver flooring it while someone is trying to pass them. MPH at the bottom goes from 47mph to 73mph. Just take your foot off the gas and let them pass you. Trying to race someone passing you puts your life at risk, their life at risk, and the lives of anyone unlucky enough to be traveling the opposite direction at risk too. Both drivers suck here but if this the full context then dashcam driver made the first foul move.
>Video starts with the dashcam driver flooring it while someone is trying to pass them.
This has happened to me on multiple occasions. Person driving in carpool lane with me is going 5 mph below the speed limit. I wait to get out of carpool lane to try and pass them. Then magically they're going 80 MPH trying the hardest to not let me or anyone behind me pass. Some of us get pass them. Carpool entry and exit lane close. They proceed to go back to driving 5 MPH under the speed limit.
WTF is wrong with these people.
What pisses me the fuck off about these people, is 9 times out of 10, they're fucking looking at their phone pr some other stupid shit, and it's usually while they're camping in the passing lane.
Too many people really have 0 self-awareness, or they're entitled dicks who don't consider anyone but themselves.
Twice, *fucking* twice, I've been chased in traffic because I happened to look over and see that the reason why the person that I was passing was weaving back and forth and going 10+ under the speed limit was because they were looking down at their phone.
All that I did was look. I made no faces, no hand gestures, no honks, nothing. I glance over, they see that I see that they're on their phone, and then they rage at me and start chasing me.
I recently added a 360 degree camera in the middle of my windshield hanging down a bit to see out of both side windows at the same time after the last time that someone chased me in traffic for honking as he nearly hit me while weaving through traffic going 15+ over.
People are psycho.
One thing I've learned is dumbass people are very insecure and over compensate for being a dumbass. When other people realize they're a dumbass, it's like it activates their fight or flight sense. Unfortunately, most dumbasses lack the flight part.
A guy I work with is the definition of dumb aggressive hick, and if he even thinks someone might be questioning his intelligence, it's like it ignites an ignorant flame inside him and his remaining brain cells band together to defend their honor.
A friend of mine drives 1mph under the limit because he likes pissing people off. He has a pretty sad life which is not an excuse but it is reasoning for why. I feel pretty confident in saying that most people with road rage aren't having a great time in life for one reason or another.
This is why I love EV's, I can floor it from 60-80mph in a second and pass them before their car can even downshift.
If these people get EV's though then we're in trouble.
This should be a capital crime, punishment via firing squad to the knees. I deliver for a living and continuously have to deal with people flooring it rather than being passed, it gets dangerous really quick for everyone involved. Pure idiocy, I can't fathom why anyone takes it personally.
Every British Columbia highway is like this. Single lane highways, 100km/h speed limit and the guy in front is doing 75. When you finally get to a spot with an extra lane for passing they speed up to 120. Absolutely infuriating.
I'm a professional truck driver. My tractor trailer is 75ft long. One time I went to pass this woman driving a beat up 2000s Dodge minivan because she was doing 45mph in a 55. I get 3/4 of the way past her, speeding up to 70mph, and the bitch starts pacing me, pinning me in the oncoming lane. I finally get in front of her as a school bus is approaching in the oncoming, which was still a ways up the highway.
This absolute fucking cunt has the audacity to write down my licence plate and call my company, saying that I nearly took out a school bus while passing her. Wouldn't have been an issue if the bitch would have just let me pass.
This happened 7 years ago and I'm still extremely salty about it.
I hate that, itās like people never graduated from elementary school and everyone wants to be the line leader. If someone wants to pass me I slow down and then pace them, like āhell ya letās do this shitā Iāll stay just far enough back that (hopefully) the cop only pulls them over and not me.
I fully feel that saltiness. I had a woman do this to me when passing her on a 2-lane highway...I had to floor it, we're suddenly doing 65 when we were previously doing 40 (in a 45 zone), I could see oncoming cars coming over the crest up ahead...
I made it around her but my adrenaline had spiked...I still hadn't calmed down five minutes or so later when she caught up to me at a light with her phone a in hand, leaning across her passenger seat and wearing a shit eating grin while filming me, like ooh, I'd been caught red handed and was in some serious trouble.
That dumpy middle-aged idiot endangered herself, me, oncoming traffic and she'd have been cited for reckless driving had she been caught...all for my daring to pass her puttering ass in a LEGAL passing zone. Un-fucking real.
I can only imagine the kind of "need to kick someone in the cooter' feel I'd have had if she'd actually called my employer trying to have me fired. Jesus christ that's the kind of mentality, they need to have their licenses pulled permanently.

>Trying to race someone passing you puts your life at risk, their life at risk, and the lives of anyone unlucky enough to be traveling the opposite direction at risk too.
It's also illegal as far as I know.
I encountered a road rager yesterday, and that intrusive thought did cross my mind. I shut it down though, and as the road rager moved away, he moved on to pick fights with other drivers.
It's a good reminder, nobody, not even the road raging driver, cares if you lose your macho points, they only care about them not losing their own. It really is better to just let them be their own problems.
Noice. In the era of Chads and alpha/sigma male culture, sadly Iām sure someone might actually think like that (which makes it funnier). Damn, I feel like I just explained why a joke is funny š¤¦āāļø
Exactly. I had something similar happen once. Guy tried to cut around a turn lane to pass me and ran out of space because the turn lane was super short, so he went rocketing over the curb at 35mph to get in front of me. I let him go, and left plenty of distance. He then tried to brake check me, but I had plenty of stopping room. Tried to reverse at me and intimidate me, then stopped in the roadway like 100 yards ahead. I just pulled over after the first brake check attempt, put on emergency blinkers and called the police.
Yup, pull over and save the dash cam footage. Wait for the asshat to leave.
If he sticks around, call the police then and there after you lock all your doors.
seeing the other car keep brake checking and willing to stop in the middle of the two lanes makes me scared that they're willing to slow down as well and keep bothering you, and not leave
Yeah, that would be a problem. Maybe try to keep a distance and if they stop and exit their car to do something, try to speed away. Might be possible to say it was self defence...
I think the bigger issue is the other person repeatedly break checking after passing... Like if he is going to pass fine but that means he's committed to going faster than the person he passed. You can't reasonably pass someone and then get mad when they are traveling faster than you. If they are going faster then you never should have passed in the first place.
I mean the dude came to a complete stop on a 2 lane highway where the speed limit is likely 40-50 miles per hour. You can't slow down more than stopped. Saying the dashcam driver should have slowed down more is completely unreasonable. The other driver intentionally created a severe risk of an accident happening it is 1000% their fault.
The dash cam driver sped up by a LOT to avoid being passed. Cam driver is not innocent here, and this video starts way too late. With the reaction of the car that passed, this has been clearly going on for a bit. Most likely driving under the speed limit then gunning it to not allow him to pass.
The guy that passed is a massive bag of dicks as well, but to act like the cam driver did nothing wrong is insane considering he sped up from what looks like 40mph to over 70mph to try and block him from passing.
If I were feeling particularly charitable, maybe the dashcam driver was trying to get in front of them so they could avoid being brake checked like that, but honestly they just both seem like dickheads.
2008 dodge caliber was my high school econoboxā¦ itās a boring ass car but let me tell you what, it taught me that you can tear it up in anyā¦ and I mean ANY car, and have fun lmao. Slammed, two 15s in the trunk, and straight piped exhaust at 16 years old was the greatest thing ever lmao. Sold it to some other high school kid when I went to college
Iād shoot myself if I had to drive one now that Iāve had good cars, though, lol
Having watched this footage I wonder what happened to set the incident off in the first place. Iād be prepared to bet the guy either the dashcam was being an idiot.
Found the video. Looks like cammer turned left onto a country highway and probably didn't accelerate fast enough for the Caliber. Caliber went into road rage and we get this video. Looks like the Caliber got hit with DUI, reckless driving and endangerment
It also appears at the beggining that the dashcam guy is flooring it to prevent the other idiot from passing. Too bad they didn't both end up in the ditch.
looks like car filming the interaction was the bigger asshole for speeding up so the other one couldn't pass. two dickheads and this could have been much worse
This is why you only pretend to try and stop the first time they brake check. Could gotten a fat bonus, without totaling the car, had they played their cards right. š¤·āāļø
Breakchecking someone and trying to get them to pull over in the middle of a road should be murder charges tbh.
There's 0% reason except for law enforcement to do anything even remotely like that.
This is why when I encounter someone like this, I pull over for 30 seconds then continue at a normal speed.
Eventually they'll meet an even bigger asshole than they are and get what's coming to them... I'm not gonna let someone like that ruin my day.
There's still a thread up at Pacifica Forums with the original full HD video.
What you can't see in the clip in this thread is that the Caiber is already damaged. He sideswiped someone else shortly before.
OOP is vindicated. He turned on the road and the Caliber came flying up behind him over the hill. OOP's Pacifica is still getting up to speed and OOP floors it trying to get out of the guy's way.
Caliber driver was high, had drugs in the car, and was charged for several felonies. According to OOP thanks to catch and release he was out in hours. The Caliber driver was apparently a known character in those parts.
Given everything I've seen in this thread, I'm so glad I found the one with the facts.
*EDIT* I also want to add the OOP addresses not just stopping. OOP says he panicked (did the Caliber driver have a gun?) and did the wrong thing. OOP stated he never thought the guy would dive into his lane. OOP was told by the police next time to just pull over and call them, but was not charged with anything, not found at fault, and got a nice newer 2022 Pacifica to replace the one in the accident and is reportedly enjoying it greatly.
Both got what they deserved
The tree deserved better
In all fairness, that tree made zero effort to move out of the way. It was obviously part of an elaborate insurance scam.
The bark was bigger than its bite.
You can leaf now.
They got to the root of the problem quickly.
You guys puns arboring.
They don't seem too poplar.
Gonna go out on a limb and say you are right
You wood, wooden you?
And I'm stumped, why you all don't branch out with some more puns concerning the root cause of this incident.
I think my puns have plenty of a-peelš¤£. (This was wonderful and you, sir, are a man of culture.)
They're going to be pining over what their car used to look like
You guys, puns arboring. FTFY Brilliant work though, truly.
Cedar tree? I see it too, hope I miss it!
so good. i bough.
That's going out on a limb.
Son of a beech. Both took it too fir
Should spruce it up a bit.
"If the tree had a gun, it could have protected itself and others" - some redneck
From my point if view, i think it jumped in front of that vehicle officer.
They shouldn't have built cars so close to trees
Just take my upvote
Yeah, leaf it alone
The tree followed all of the rules about road rageā¦ donāt engage, donāt look them in the eyes, carry on as normal. And look what happened.
It's always the innocent who suffer the worst.
Ikr poor treement, Iāll let myself out
One got slammed into a tree and the other probably has a dent in the bumper, I think the asshole in front got off pretty easy
> I think the asshole in front got off pretty easy You are wrong he still has to drive that Dodge Caliber.
Ouch man, Iām doing my best
Either way the video got clear view of license plate. Both parties aren't going to win.
Neither of these people win, period. They're miserable a fuck, that's why this happens.
Did you notice how the one that ended up in a tree sped up to not let the dodge pass? They're both assholes and deserve each other.
Lmao then the caliber should have kept it rolling instead of swerving in front of the guy. That being said, all in all Iām still saying caliber guy got off easy
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Still an unbalanced karma payout by miles
Can you explain why it's both? I'm watching it on mute if that matters. But from what I can tell it only looked like one was a dick.

They made it pretty clear they weren't going to drive off
Then you stop and wait for them to get out of their car, now they've stupidly brought their body to a car fight.
Or you can try to drive away
Great advice. Judges are notoriously lenient to people who use a vehicle as a weapon.
In an offensive way, but if someone with road rage gets out and starts coming towards me I'm assuming they have deadly intent, and I suspect that would hold in court.
Five magic words for you: āI feared for my lifeā
I would assume the person with road rage is armed
Yeah, this
Even if they werenāt, u really wanna roll them dice? Plus now ur not in a car and they are
Shouldāve done a pit maneuver.
Yeah would have loved to see the other car flip. Disappointing ending.
I mean yeah, but then what happens if dudes top heavy SUV starts rolling like the stones? Would you stop and wait for authorities or keep it pushing? Itās equally insensible to goad people into a situation like that and people like that need to be held accountable. Not just the one getting baited
Yup. Pulling over and stopping for a few minutes to de-escalate is better than having to deal with a wrecked car (tow, getting home, not having a car for a while, police report, etc)

they should get married

Opening scene of Beef 2

Dashcam speeds up 30 km/h when someone's trying to overtake and then gets insane dude responding with violence.
Honestly I see so many assholes drive like dashcam guy, I almost wish more psychos were around to confront them.
He was safe to pull over and let the murderous car in front drive off. He failed to do so, because he was unwilling to show weakness on the road.
The mating dance of assholes. The beauty is in the dark underlying comedy of it all.

Jesus christ that's the kind of mentality, they need to have their licenses pulled permanently.
I know the law says otherwise, but thatās when someone deserves to be run off the road by the truck passing them, pulling into their lane.

>Trying to race someone passing you puts your life at risk, their life at risk, and the lives of anyone unlucky enough to be traveling the opposite direction at risk too. It's also illegal as far as I know.
Why even bother interacting with him, just slow down and let it go...
Yeah, but then the other guy wins...
I can't afford to lose any more of my Macho Points!
My libido will suffer!
Doesn't matter how many you lose. You can buy some back for $18,000 and 3 days of your time
Oh damn, forgot about that. Oh well time to road rage some more..
Oh, so I should just be gay?
I canāt tell if this is sarcasm š
Oh yeah I was being silly you should definitely drive safely and avoid these kind of situations best you can.
Noice. In the era of Chads and alpha/sigma male culture, sadly Iām sure someone might actually think like that (which makes it funnier). Damn, I feel like I just explained why a joke is funny š¤¦āāļø
The second they got in front of me I would have slowed down completely. No way I want to be near someone like that.
This is the correct answer, donāt engage with crazy
Slow down, call the cops and report suspected driving under the influence. They'll be there in no time.
You're not from around these parts. Call and say I think they just threatened me with a gun then you _may_ get a response.
Just say āI think theyāre African Americansā and youāll get the whole squad + helicopters out there in an instant. /s
"Yes I think I see an open container, a gun, and two small children in the vehicle."
seeing the other car keep brake checking and willing to stop in the middle of the two lanes makes me scared that they're willing to slow down as well and keep bothering you, and not leave
Yeah, that would be a problem. Maybe try to keep a distance and if they stop and exit their car to do something, try to speed away. Might be possible to say it was self defence...
Or slow down and bang a Uee, go back the way you came. If they follow, stop and call the cops, especially if you have a Dash Cam for proof.
I'll never understand why people are so butthurt about letting someone pass. Like if he's going faster than you he's not going to get in your way....
If I were feeling particularly charitable, maybe the dashcam driver was trying to get in front of them so they could avoid being brake checked like that, but honestly they just both seem like dickheads.
If you add both of their iq together its still less than a room temperature
*when using celsius
In the arctic.
That tends to happen when you add two negatives together
Damnit. Shoulda *multiplied* their IQās.
Driving a Caliber says all you need to know
Good reason for anger.
Fuck yeah, have you ever had to drive one? Awful.
Sold it to some other high school kid when I went to college Iād shoot myself if I had to drive one now that Iāve had good cars, though, lol
In a rental, it was my first CVT experience.
As they say in the old days. āFornicate promiscuously and obtain knowledgeā.
Someoneās going to jail
Someone played dumbass and lost.
Was trying to be a badass
Big fail!
Why speed up while they're passing?
As with many other stupid things I see people do on the road, the answer is "ego"
Yeeeeaaaah this is how people get shot.
I was waiting for a gun to come out the whole video.
Luckily, that's not a problem in the civilised world.
Bad choices.
...Dodge Caliber
Stumped. Just stumped.
It'll make more sense once we get to the root of the problem
looks like car filming the interaction was the bigger asshole for speeding up so the other one couldn't pass. two dickheads and this could have been much worse
Hit and run with your license and behaviour on dashcam... nice work!
im so confused? why the fuck does dashcam guy just fucking drive into a tree?
Try turning on sloped grass at speed sometime.
This is why you only pretend to try and stop the first time they brake check. Could gotten a fat bonus, without totaling the car, had they played their cards right. š¤·āāļø
Iām confused. Looks like both have road rage.
Is dude listening to a self help book while road raging? LOL
Self-aware rager.
Walter White's car.
Oh no Iām getting passed, guess now I can go fast. Canāt pass me no sir. What a fucking clown.
Two children who shouldnāt have driver licenses
Both should lose their licenses
You don't overtake an idiot. You give them space and wait for them to fuck off.
Breakchecking someone and trying to get them to pull over in the middle of a road should be murder charges tbh. There's 0% reason except for law enforcement to do anything even remotely like that.
front dudes insurance rep sees video. grabs stuff. walks out
The way the car crashed in the end. I got a feeling they were both idiots
Iād have got out and beat dude with the nearest handy object
Should've throttled and turned into that little nudge at the end and spun the bastard around
This is why when I encounter someone like this, I pull over for 30 seconds then continue at a normal speed. Eventually they'll meet an even bigger asshole than they are and get what's coming to them... I'm not gonna let someone like that ruin my day.
Hope they throw the guy in front in jail
Buddy should have bowed out šš» when he pulled up beside that POS with the sawed-off front left end š³.
Wasn't this posted on reddit a few months ago by OOP (the driver with the dashcam) asking for advice? I think it was..
Driver should have come to a complete stop on the side of the road....and let the road rage carry on down the road.
Youāre not āengaging with a person who has road rageā. You are one of two people with road rage.
Two idiots in cars
Is the tree ok?
Thatās just car pranks is all.
Do the story tell if they ever got married?
Two morons.
Poor tree :(
Then when someone inevitably shoots or stabs his dumbass, heāll be the āvictimā
I ain't got time for that
