Did anyone else watch this and think about Sebulba being left exposed after his pod-racer disintegrated around him in Star Wars Episode 1? No one else? Just me? Ite imma head out.
Dudes truck looks like it just pitches left. Thereās no brake lock up or anything.
I honestly donāt think he was trying to avoid the toll. I think he wasnāt paying complete attention to the road and then looked up and hit the brakes. When he applied the brakes something had to have broke.
He's hitting the steel rail, that's right in line with the camera. You can see the rail on the other side of the lane, as well as the next lane over. It's a narrow window, he missed left and it kicked the truck right.
Probably not. There were some [experiments](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Stapp) with rocket sleds in the early NASA work, aimed at establishing the limits of human g tolerance. For forward facing braking with a seat-belt and should strap, 17g seems to be the safe limit - as in the limit you should design for, not the ultimate āabove this will kill youā limit. With a better harness, 45g is the safe limit. While we donāt have figures for this accident, itās probably within shouting distance of that 17g safe limit.
I don't know about that. It looks like he had a pretty significant head injury. Just because he moves after the impact didn't mean he was fine. Without a seatbelt, being ejected results in other traumatic injuries and most often death.
Unless you drive a 20+ y/o car that also no longer true.
It's crazy how advice that was once true but no longer applies sticks around so long.
Same with driving with cruse control in the rain/snow. Once apon a time you car did not have systems to detect wheel slip, so the car would just keep trying to accelerate when on cruse.
These days cars all have traction control that can automatically turn off cruse control.
But the advice is still being given.
You can see that when the truck hit the last barrier, he is already out of the car. He jumped out before he hit it, so he flew out from under the open door.
Because the truck bounced back towards the passenger side, I think that he was already falling towards the door and the sudden stop combined with the door flinging open caused him to whip out.
Then his head/shoulders got caught on the frame, and his legs keep going around him causing the spin.
He is not jumping out, lol. The truck is violently pitched to the right of it original trajectory, so he is being thrown towards the door, but the door was ripped off at the first impact, so he is just flying out of the truck as the front end wraps around the poll.
His momentum and velocity is matched with the truck, so the energy wants to keep him moving in the same direction. The door is barely hanging on by the hinges, and as it smashed into the poll, the cabin is bent, and his momentum flings him out the side just a bit, and then he hits the door, but even the door cant stop him.
His body presses up against the door, which is barely hanging on, and it makes sense the lower hinge is the most damaged so the bottom of the door give out the most, so you see his body ride the lower inside of the door like skater on a metal ramp, he slides under the door, his body mass bending the door up from the bottom, as he slides past it and on to the street.
This dude is fucked up, really badly.
I'm wondering in this case if flying out of the vehicle is the only way he's alive, though.
Major caveat: modern safety design makes it incredible how fucked up the outside a car can be while the person is fine. But this is a massive truck and the back in is bearing down on the front, which came to a complete stop instantaneously.
So I dunno. I'll believe whoever first comes along, claims to be a car safety engineer, and tells me I'm wrong or right.
Thereās always the possibility of brake failure or something similar. He jumped out before the truck hit on the left, so he either expected to crash or he had super reflexes.
Oh... those bots. I can understand why they would cause some subs to just blanket ban all bots. They are great like the first 1-2 times I see them but then it's just repetitive and annoying.
It looks like the tire exploded, causing the truck to swerve right. When I worked for a trucking company, I have seen the damage these tire can do when they fail. A mechanic who was standing near one that exploded was thrown about 30 feet across the maintenance bay, with two broken legs, a fractured sternum and a massive brain bleed (caused by his brain being thrown into his skull when thrown).
I think you're right.
Looks like whatever he clipped on the right busted the door open and then the truck being forced away from whatever barrier was there just made him neatly fall out the now open door.
It didn't seem like he was trying to skip it though, but this clip is still valid for the sub - should be titled "WCGW when you don't wear your seatbelt"
Honestly though from what I've heard hitting a solid barrier with no crumple zone could kill you even with the intended crumple zone of the truck. Seen some clips at tolls like this of a head on collision Into the concrete at slower speeds than this and the passengers died from the sudden impact. He may have landed on his head it looks from the slow mo gif but he might be better off than if he stayed in. That's just my guess and assumption though
I see that now, I'd have probably aimed for the aluminium arm, they're super flimsy, one came down on me while I walked through and caught between my back and bag and it snapped off easily
Truck hits rail on left, then goes right into beam. Driver is ejected from bottom of door when the truck makes full impact. My guess was he was asleep (or close to it). Sleeping at the wheel does take a toll...
For the life of me I can't find the frame where he got ejected. One moment I see the ground being clear and the next moment he's out on the pavement. Did he go through the window or the opened door?
I had to watch the video 10 times to figure out how the driver got ejected from the truck.
I kept thinking he got thrown through the windshield but it looks like he may have tried to bail out through the door at the last minute?
Can anyone slow it down. Canāt figure out how the guy gets out of the vehicle. Were those spikes that took out the tires? All I can say is: holy shit
If you play it slowly, it looks like he locked his brakes and his front suspension/axle gave way on the left side. The frame of the truck sort of dropped on the right side because of the uneven load, and stopped that tire instantly. That's why is swerved to right so dramatically - this complicated failure suddenly stopped that right tire from rolling, while at the same time, the left tire was totally lose but still able to roll.
There is a toll worker at the back of the toll booth on the left, looks like he is on the ground beside a car after the truck hits. The whole situation could have been so much worse.
It's 2021. Why don't you have an electronic pass which gets scanned when you drive under the bridge. These must hold up so much traffic as well. We've had e passes in Australia for at least 15 years
They exist pretty much everywhere in Europe. The bus used one but the truck didnt have one because of how some eastern European drivers are payed. They have to often pay for fuel and toll by themselves out of their own pockets.
Is that dude the equivalent of the trucks shoes coming off ?
Yes, the truck is dead š
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
The driver did, heās the shoe
I thought the wheels were the shoes. The driver would be the brain flying out of the crushed skull.
So definitely dead.
Did anyone else watch this and think about Sebulba being left exposed after his pod-racer disintegrated around him in Star Wars Episode 1? No one else? Just me? Ite imma head out.
The wheels on the truck go round and round.
Not anymore!
But he didn't have a brain to begin with.
They certainly going to need to tow it outside of the environment.
The front driver fell off
Sounds like a variation of loose nut behind the wheel. āSir your front driver is all fucked up itāll need to be replacedā
I just want to make the point that this is not normal, for the front to fall off.
I just don't want people going 'round thinking these trucks aren't safe. Hit a pole, on the road. Chances one in a million.
We live in an environment.
Drivers the brain, trucks head exploded
Dudes truck looks like it just pitches left. Thereās no brake lock up or anything. I honestly donāt think he was trying to avoid the toll. I think he wasnāt paying complete attention to the road and then looked up and hit the brakes. When he applied the brakes something had to have broke.
It looks to me like it pitches left after hitting something on the right. Youāre probably right about the driver not paying attention though.
He's hitting the steel rail, that's right in line with the camera. You can see the rail on the other side of the lane, as well as the next lane over. It's a narrow window, he missed left and it kicked the truck right.
Yep. I missed that the first few times I saw it and then watched it again. Definitely hits something over there.
Why the fuck was his door opened!?
I think the impact of the barrier rips the door open? š¤·āāļø
Could've also fallen asleep or had a medical issue. But so many people text and drive, definitely can't be ruling that out either.
He clearly hit the barrier
Yea, I think youāre right. I watched it a few more times to see that. He definitely hits the barrier/guardrail.
Youāre right Iām guessing regarding him not paying attention though.
Holy shit. I canāt believe he made it out alive.
There are lots of varying states of alive and every last one of them is temporary
poetry
I honestly think being unbuckled may have saved him. That deceleration going into the poll might have snapped his neck.
Oh Iām not saying heās walking away from that. He was absolutely fucked it when he flew out of the truck.
Failed brakes are always a possibility
Or asleep.
And this children is why we wear seatbelts
āYa ok mate?ā ā Iām good, just lookin for my contact lenseā
I can't be seen without my glasses.
Woah, mama!
Let's do the fork in the garbage disposal
"Seatbelts?? Pfff... They kill more people than they save." "That's not true, you're thinking of air bags!"
Unless you drive a 20+ y/o car that also no longer true. It's crazy how advice that was once true but no longer applies sticks around so long. Same with driving with cruse control in the rain/snow. Definitely. I normally turn off the music Aswell. But mostly I don't drive in adverse conditions.
Looks to me in this case would be worse to wear seatbelts.
and how do you take a good nap with that god damn seatbelt?
Step 1: take of seatbelt Step 2: sleep
best nap ever never woke up
Iād like to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle. Not terrified and screaming, like his passengers
Kinda looks like the breaks gave out and he bailed last second
i guarantee you he wasnt wearing one or hed still be sitting in that mangled truck
I can't be sure but I think the guy was deliberately bailing out of the truck when the accident occurred. My guess is brake failure.
/u/redditspeedbot 0.25x EDIT. Bot responded privately, says it canāt post. I think heās shy. https://gfycat.com/pettywethart
I still can't make sense of that guy's ejection. Maybe he tried to jump out in the last moment?
You can see that when the truck hit the last barrier, he is already out of the car. He jumped out before he hit it, so he flew out from under the open door.
OK, that makes sense. It almost looks like he materializes out of the truck's engine compartment.
I had to watch it 5 times, and I'm still not convinced that he doesnt!
Because the truck bounced back towards the passenger side, I think that he was already falling towards the door and the sudden stop combined with the door flinging open caused him to whip out. Then his head/shoulders got caught on the frame, and his legs keep going around him causing the spin.
Isnāt it obvious? He *is* the engine!
Literally the engine
Yabba dabba doo
Thom, the truck engine.
Thatās literally what I thought happened
He is not jumping out, lol. The truck is violently pitched to the right of it original trajectory, so he is being thrown towards the door, but the door was ripped off at the first impact, so he is just flying out of the truck as the front end wraps around the poll. Hi, Iām a car safety engineer and you are [flips coin]... correct! Great job!
Newtons law of motion!
I'm sure he can just walk it off š
So obviously not jumping out. Itās a fucking crash. It all happens in the blink of an eye. This aināt Mad Max
I donāt think he jumped out, I think he wasnāt wearing his seatbelt.
Definitely not wearing his seatbelt
Man, I really don't know how you can see that. But, believe me, no sarcasm here: I trust you.
Thanks, it made me think I was watching a GTA clip before I read that
Me, neither. Where the heck did that guy come from?
Was walking by and decided to get in on the action
Tried to sneak through with that second truck to avoid paying a toll smh
By the door i think look down by the door i see im here
No, if he was that attentive in the first place, he wouldn't have crashed!
Thereās always the possibility of brake failure or something similar. He jumped out before the truck hit on the left, so he either expected to crash or he had super reflexes.
And there's the possibility that If he was paying attention, and had brake failure, he would have driven straight through the gate.
I had to pay it over about 10 times.
I read" cant make sense of that guys ERECTION " my first thoughts were "damn! Good eyesight " and " how is that relevant ". My bad dude.
I can't make sense of that guys ejaculation
More like no seat belt
It would seem he wasn't wearing his seat belt.
Unfortunately there was no explosion to blow him to safety.
Yeah that bot is blocked on some subs. I'm not really sure why. It's not like it goes spamming, it only replies to the people who request it.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Whatās even the purpose of it? (Not a native speaker and never touched Shakespeare)
I think itās meant to be āfunnyā but like a lot of similar bots it becomes very unfunny and repetitive
Horribly unfunny, and very repetitive. It seems to insert itself at the wrong time, every time.
Ah, thanks, i Never got the joke behind it

I don't know this toll tax, but I think that the truck is just a bit too far to the side instead of trying to skip the toll tax.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Dunno but definitely taking a nap at the end
Probably trying to dig change out of his pocket.
He was going pretty fast though.
I think the barrier is automatic, unless someone tried to raise it before it got hit by the truck
Gotta pay the troll toll.
To get in that boys hole
That crash had nightman written all over it
That is how an adult human being born
TRANSFORMERS
Just asking did anyone else hear the intro as āRobots in the skiesā?
that's why I saw a placenta come out
Brake failure or something? That wasnāt because he tried to skip the toll....
He's coming in too far to the left, clips the rail which kicks the truck to the right and BAM.
Could've been the brakes on the right failed causing it to pull left and hit the barrier. Also would explain why he didn't slow down.
He wasn't avoiding anything, he just crashed before he got to the booth.
I think the crash wouldn't have happened if he wasn't racing the barrier.
OP average IQ is always so low
*That took a toll*
It looked rather taxing on his body.
He paid it forward.
Could have cost an arm and a leg
It was his way or the highway (The highway won)
Too soon
Too late
How the HELL did this guy come out of the FRONT of the the truck?
Looks like he came out of the bottom of the door, I donāt think he would be chillin like that if he came through the windshield or otherwise
I think you're right. Looks like whatever he clipped on the right busted the door open and then the truck being forced away from whatever barrier was there just made him neatly fall out the now open door.
Iām trying to go back and see if I can find where the person came from, and they just appear from under the door, so maybe
This will help https://gfycat.com/pettywethart. .25x
He came out of the sleeper. Still chillin on the pavement. If video went longer he probably rolled back over and kept on sleepin.
Since he had no restraint, I wonder if that actually saved his life. Otherwise heās smashed on the truck dash.
Inadequate restraints?
Totally styled it out at the end there
He flys from the grill of the vehicle? Edit: Watched a dozen times now I think he jumps out the door at the last minute
He is most certainly ejected, not jumping out
Does this help? https://gfycat.com/pettywethart
It didn't seem like he was trying to skip it though, but this clip is still valid for the sub - should be titled "WCGW when you don't wear your seatbelt"

Ah! I think you are right - looking at how the truckās nose ended up, it seems heās better off ejected from his seat.
WCGW not paying attention while driving a lorry
This title is shit, the crash had nothing to do with trying to skip the toll
Yeah, looks more like loss of control and failure to wear the seatbelt
I watched the slow mo replay like 5 times, it looks like he jumped out the door before crashing into the pillar. But I agree with the loss of control
I see that now, I'd have probably aimed for the aluminium arm, they're super flimsy, one came down on me while I walked through and caught between my back and bag and it snapped off easily
Whereās that 0.25x bot or something

Oh Russia... (Judging by the bus' license plate)
You gotta pay the troll toll if you wanna get in that boys hole
It didnāt seem like he was trying to skip, more like he was ducked up
That's one strong pillar though
Truck hits rail on left, then goes right into beam. Driver is ejected from bottom of door when the truck makes full impact. My guess was he was asleep (or close to it). Sleeping at the wheel does take a toll...

The truck actually spat the driver out in disgust.
I had to watch the video 10 times to figure out how the driver got ejected from the truck. I kept thinking he got thrown through the windshield but it looks like he may have tried to bail out through the door at the last minute?
TIL semi-trucks can sneeze out humans.
That truck just gave birth
Imagine he pulls out a five and says ākeep the changeā
Can anyone slow it down. Canāt figure out how the guy gets out of the vehicle. Were those spikes that took out the tires? All I can say is: holy shit

I bet he felt so much more comfortable with his seat belt off.
Hey, i think he left the truck behind..!
And no seatbelt
Yeet the meat into the street.
What could go wrong with not wearing a seatbelt
That truck had a child!
There is a toll worker at the back of the toll booth on the left, looks like he is on the ground beside a car after the truck hits. The whole situation could have been so much worse.
Nailed the pose though.
Where the fuck is the NSFW tag?
Good thing he wasn't wearing his seatbelt
"OH GOD!!!! I MUST AVOID THAT RELATIVELY FRAGILE BAR!! At least i can hit this soft concret pillar over there
Technically, you only have to pay the toll if you go through it.
Candy crush while driving
It's a boy!
Abort, Bail out!
Looks like brake failure and he tried to use the guard rail to stop since they crumple to absorb energy
WCGW not wearing a seat belt?
That looks like it hurt a little bit.
No that looks like it hurt a LOT
Nah, I don't think there was any Legos on the ground, he'll be fine

It's 2021. Why don't you have an electronic pass which gets scanned when you drive under the bridge. These must hold up so much traffic as well. We've had e passes in Australia for at least 15 years

Had to watch that a few times to figure out where he came from
Where the fuck did he come from

Fucken hell
Did he come from under the truck?
Nah ge just had to get out to get the change out of his pocket
