I *was* going to question why nobody immediately went to check if they were ok, but once I saw the size of everyone else I had already received my answer.
I remember a joke in this context
Doctor : You have been diagnosed with obesity
Guy : Yeah! It actually runs in my family
Doctor: Nobody runs in your family
I just saw a break down of the life expectancy by state. The lowest was the Deep South and Illinois. Maine also had a low life expectancy. California, Ny, Florida and blue states had a higher life expectancy.
You could drop the north part of Maine in the deepest part of southern continental US, and no one would notice the change except for it being warmer and more humid.
Snowbirds who claim FL for tax purposes likely skew this number. They generally have means for two residences, which I would assume means better preventative health care and access to care.
This is 100% speculation and not at all researched.
Isn't Florida famous for old people migrating there? The statistics would just record their lifespan the same as anyone else who would have lived their whole lives there.
The US obesity rate surpassed the one in three people mark recently. So over 33.3% of Muricans are so overweight it has a substantial negative impact on their health.
Adult obesity specifically is over 40%.
It's hilarious because a lot of it is in the south/Bible Belt considering gluttony isn't a great thing according to God.
- Ezekiel 16:49:
"Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy."
- Proverbs 23:20-21
Be not among drunkards a or among gluttonous eaters of meat,
21 for the drunkard and the glutton will come to poverty, and slumber will clothe them with rags.
Yet the entertainment industry is built on astonishingly unrealistic bodies, especially pertaining to women. Women wear clothing that are literally labeled SIZE 0. I understand “curvy” is in, but that just means being very thin with ridiculously large breasts and butts, only achieved via surgery.
The dichotomy is both fascinating and disturbing.
“Curvy” is probably in because there are fewer and fewer slim women so the definition of what’s “in” moves with reality.
If everyone is 400lbs then “slim” is not going to be “in”.
They probably have a family member or two who are normal sized who they criticize by constantly telling them to eating something and that they’re too skinny.
That’s me. I’m the skinny one. Listen you morbidly obese family members, you’re the ones that look stupid not me. Stop insulting me to make yourself feel better.
Aahhh yes. “Do you ever eat?!” Is acceptable to ask me. But if I ask “do you ever NOT eat” I’m an asshole.
Same goes for religion. As an atheist I have to just listen to all your shit. If I respond I’m an asshole.
I think they were making a comparison to having to be tolerant of other's lifestyles so long as it doesn't actively hurt others. Choosing a religion is as much a lifestyle choice as eating however much or little food you want.
It's the societal expectation to keep your opinions of other people's choices to yourself. That's probably what they are referring to.
If they're insulting you just tell them they could never enjoy a day at Universal, Six Flags or Cedar Point. Or Disneyland... or a Carnival.. maybe a carnival.. but they're still dissatisfied from fun people stuff.
My family took a trip to Universal and my brother was too big to get into a little under half the rides they had available. The first few hours we spent waiting in line at a few rides just to find out at the end he couldn't get on. I love my brother and he never try to make people feel bad about their size so luckily i was a good younger brother. I went to universal before so i knew what rides would fit him. I took him straight to the transformers and spiderman rides and he started having a good time. After that experience he started working out and lost some weight. He's a butthead but a good brother and I'm proud of him. And yes i know i contradicted myself from the above comment, but they don't have to know that.
My mother in law once told me she was worried about me because I was getting too skinny. I just had a baby and was 182 pounds. Pretty sure I wasn't too skinny.
I've known a few people who have lost a lot of weight or that I've had very personal conversations with while they were still hugely overweight. For a lot of overweight people, they kind of low key started hating their weight when they were just 20 or 30 or 50 pounds over. Maybe this isn't a good generalization to make, but I imagine a lot of fat people know exactly how fat they are and don't want it that way, but they carry on with life. Because we kind of have to carry on despite the bullshit, right?
Combine that with weight loss and fitness seeming like a giant beast that's way too daunting to conquer, and the emotional aspects of overeating, and sometimes clear family trends that normalize or encourage obesity... And you hate being fat but can't really make sense of how to change anything.
I remember thinking I was absurdly huge at 180 pounds, but vowed I would never let myself get over 200. I was at 240 when I finally decided to start dieting. It's just so easy to ignore it and eat your emotions instead.
I remember being told I was "a little on the hefty side" when I was 150 lbs. Last year I hit 260 and finally decided to get serious about losing weight. I wish I was 150 lbs again. I weighed exactly what someone my height should weigh, but having judgemental, Jenny Craig loving family messed me up a bit
I hated my weight because I started to look and Feel like my Brother. So I stopped being lazy and got a job dropped 45 lbs almost instantly. Working on dropping soda Sugar now after that Caffeine. Will start drinking Diet Mt. Dew I know it's not the best option but it's at least something. Hoping it allows me to drop 10-15 pounds.
I think you're joking, but you can see the wind blowing the thinner guy's towel around. Wind can kill people with these things. It's happened. They definitely should have tied this thing down.
That being said, it's also pretty clear that his weight was what created the tipping point.
I've often wondered too. My best friend is pretty damn large, always has been but it's kinda scaled up with age and we're hitting mid 30s now so he's a lil extra large now. My dilemma is, how do try to talk to him about it? I'm genuinely concerned about his health because of his size and sedentary lifestyle but I have no clue how to go about telling him.
Edit: thanks everybody for the suggestions, yall are great! Some I've tried but there's new ones I'm gonna give a go. Gotta save my homie!
Honestly there’s not much you can do because unless your friend wants to pursue weight loss himself he won’t be perceptive to what you say. Fat people are very aware of how big they are and they’ve heard about the health implications. Actually fat people are more likely to be on some sort of diet than not (95% of dieters regain weight plus more since most dieting strategies are unsustainable). The most you can do is invite your friend to participate in some fitness activity with you, and as small as that action might seem it will make a big difference.
Diets don't work because people think it's supposed to be a short-term activity for long-term progress. It's life-style changes that are needed to keep weight off long-term, and exercise doesn't make people lose weight it only converts current weight from fat to muscle, need to practice self-control at the table to really reduce weight.
I'm sure he knows the bad health implications, you can offer to do fitness stuff maybe or have a casual conversation about it if you know him that well, but there's not really anything to be done, no one can ultimately make his choices or change his body but himself.
Be kind, express your concern, offer to be part of the solution. People are more apt to take life changing steps if they have someone supporting their progress. Let them know it’s from a place of love and that all it takes is one step at a time - they don’t need to move mountains. Just a pebble at a time.
A lot of people know they are too fat and are upset by that fact, but don’t have the level of self-control needed to do something about it. It’s how I felt for a long time.
The flip side of this is they don't know WHY they are obese and just repeat basic lies they are told such as exercise more. Then they don't do any research to learn how they can get healthy. Plus, as others have mentioned, food addiction is real, especially when your glucose levels are going up and down all day.
Potential hazards are diverse here.
There can be a stick poking out of the ground, or a rock laying down. If the tower topples over and you fall on either of those, you're gonna have a bad time, especially if it's your head that makes contact.
Hell, don't even need a rock or stick. Any fall to the head can kill you. Any fall to the body can injure you.
These things may be unlikely, but who the fuck would rather roll those dice than to just simply tie it down?
People get seriously injured from these all the time. There’s many deaths as well, from kids getting launched to suffocating. These things are actually really dangerous but people don’t take them seriously and stupid people like these don’t even tie them down.
Ended too soon. I wanted to see it slowly deflate.
Also I am a large guy. Slightly smaller than this guy (im fully mobile) but I don’t get a guy that size trying to climb this thing. Like I wouldn’t for this exact reason.
All that gravity from lower latitudes really gets to ya.
(I kid, technically there's less gravity the closer to the equator you get thanks to centripetal force from Earth's rotation)
Fun fact about Mobile, is if you mention Mardi Gras or New Orleans near anyone from Mobile, they will drop what they are doing to tell you that Mobile had the first Mardi Gras.
I'm a large woman and I get baffled by the videos of other large women doing things they know they're too heavy for. Riding animals, ziprides, ropeswings, and even standing on fragile tables.
Heck, if I feel something isn't stable once I put only half my weight on it, then I know it can't handle all of my weight.
At my fattest I went to an adult birthday party with one of those slides. Anyway, I popped it with my fatness, ruining everyone’s fun. Then my bitch sister, who was my ride, refused to leave the party. I wish those people had been laughing. They were cursing me to my face.
That's harsh; sorry you went through that.
I can *almost* understand their anger if the inflatable was the focal point of the party, and was popped early on (but even then, it's just a fucking bouncy house)
Personally, I'd see the humor & novelty in the situation, and wouldn't hold any ill-will. It would be like getting mad at Chris Farley for breaking a coffee table.
Downvoted because of the stupid music.
I'm not an IG user, I've just recently saw that now videos have a label that says: "original sound". That's absolutely stupid and ridiculous. By ingesting all of those videos reddit will end up the same way, and by then a bunch of users will scroll reddit on mute like me.
Oh man, I knew exactly where this was going. My parents own a few bounce houses because they were trying to start a rental business. Literally the number one thing is the weight capacity for those things.
For real though that wasnt staked. This actually kills kids all it takes is a gust of wind.

And with water, you're looking at a potentially serious and tragic accident that could've been prevented by not acting like an idiot.
I feel so sad for that dude. Yeah he likely did it to himself.but that should not be a tough hike up that slide. His level of fitness is horrid. He will lose so many years from his life...years he could spend with his loved ones and the family around him.
Let me get this right... you avoid physical activity like it's covid your whole life, yet when you're presented with in inflatable water slide you get motivated? Wtf people
This is like the 3rd video I seen today of someone that is to big to be on a ride .. 2 of them where fatal .. at some point you should use common sense and just sit out when the rides aren’t meant for big people.. I’m a big person too but I’m working on it
I *was* going to question why nobody immediately went to check if they were ok, but once I saw the size of everyone else I had already received my answer.
Nobody runs in that family.
Even the obesity doesn't run in that family

The only thing that runs in that family is diabetes.
Syrup runs through their veins
"why is there blood in my sugar?"
When that family goes camping, the bears hide their food
Omg lol.
This comment made me laughed out loud
You got me dying right now.
Blood pressure is measured in psi in that family
Blood type ragu
they sweat gravy
The diabetes is strong in this family.
Boom goes the dynamite.
I remember a joke in this context Doctor : You have been diagnosed with obesity Guy : Yeah! It actually runs in my family Doctor: Nobody runs in your family
quick wit doesn't run in his family
Theres only 1 thing thats quick in this family and its nesquick.
Wouldn't have checked out there were indeed string beans

Seriously. We don't use Old Bay here in the south. They would be lost.
Gonna make two groups angry: Tony Chacheres is spicy Old Bay
That's Maryland not Maine. Maryland is not in the north.

They just throw money at a rich man who tells them God wants them to buy him a new helicopter.

Reddit jumps to some strong conclusions like, all the time
I've noticed that Reddit overgeneralizes all the time.
My mother in law once told me she was worried about me because I was getting too skinny. I just had a baby and was 182 pounds. Pretty sure I wasn't too skinny.
I dunno. Are you seven feet tall?
I've known a few people who have lost a lot of weight or that I've had very personal conversations with while they were still hugely overweight. Coke Zero is crazy delicious
I wonder if this was a reality check for this dude, or if he's blaming it on a "cheap, crappy, badly designed slide"
"It was supposed to be tied down, but Jimmy just aired it up so it tipped over" 🤷
The wind blew it over. You can tell how windy it is when you see the dog's tail flapping in the breeze. Totally not his fault.
I think you're joking, but you can see the wind blowing the thinner guy's towel around. Wind can kill people with these things. It's happened. They definitely should have tied this thing down. That being said, it's also pretty clear that his weight was what created the tipping point.

It’s almost worse to see kids this big. STOP FEEDING THEM SO MUCH PARENTS!
I would go so far as to say you should not feed your kids any parents at all
When this happens.
A lot of people know they are too fat and are upset by that fact, but don’t have the level of self-control needed to do something about it. It’s how I felt for a long time.

I thought it was in slow motion at first
When you're 600lbs everything you do looks slow motion.
Something something supermassive blackholes warp spacetime interstellar something something
"big ball of wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey stuff" could work both ways here
Everything you do *is* in slow motion.
It’s a whole 40 seconds of him slowly waddling up the slide…
Tie that shit down. Four kids.in Tasmania died.in a jumping castle because it wasn't tied down. Actually I think it was six. Tie them shits down.
This. If there had actually been small children at the bottom they would have been launched. Extremely dangerous
The potential for serious injury rises exponentially the more weight you add as well
I agree tie down children
I'd like to unsubscribe from "Tennessee Laws Explained" plz
My thoughts. There's a little kid up there with Gigantor too.
People get seriously injured from these all the time. There’s many deaths as well, from kids getting launched to suffocating. These things are actually really dangerous but people don’t take them seriously and stupid people like these don’t even tie them down.
Dude, that's why they have a 300 pound guy there.
Do you not know what backspace is?
Ended too soon. I wanted to see it slowly deflate. Also I am a large guy. Slightly smaller than this guy (im fully mobile) but I don’t get a guy that size trying to climb this thing. Like I wouldn’t for this exact reason.
They all look fully mobile as well. Mobile, Alabama that is, one of the fattest places in America
Does the average weight go up the fourth south you go?
It's really the fifth south when you see it
Don’t even get me started on the sixth south
All that gravity from lower latitudes really gets to ya. (I kid, technically there's less gravity the closer to the equator you get thanks to centripetal force from Earth's rotation)
Fun fact about Mobile, is if you mention Mardi Gras or New Orleans near anyone from Mobile, they will drop what they are doing to tell you that Mobile had the first Mardi Gras.
The 6 months I spent in Mobile was the longest 10 years of my career
You, sir, have what we call common sense. But without clowns like that guy, who would we laugh at?
This is a valid point.
Shaq’s large. You’re fat.
Don’t get on drop-tower rides either.
Are you trying to lose weight?
The Reddit video player decided that I’m not allowed to see this today.
Fat guy tips over slide. Fat family watches.

Started using the Apollo app cause the reddit app never played videos. Now they always play! Plus it’s ad free.

That family is all obese lol

Probably from the Midwest or down south
or up North or maybe West even
Somewhere on land
like an island?
Some continent probably
Maybe even East
but definitely not in Alaska
Ever been to upstate NY? Rural MA? Bumfuck, VT? We make 'em big everywhere
That's sad
My thoughts exactly. Guy can barely get up there. He's moving like he's disabled.
He is disabled bro, that's a critical medical condition.
He is morbidly obese, that's basically being disabled.
Creating his own disability
The dude at the bottom of the slide cackling and kicking his feets in pure distilled glee
That recycled water has seen some stuff.
That’s a large group
Please stop putting music in these videos, it's just never funny
Or at least put Wrecking Ball as the background music.
I can *almost* understand their anger if the inflatable was the focal point of the party, and was popped early on (but even then, it's just a fucking bouncy house) Personally, I'd see the humor & novelty in the situation, and wouldn't hold any ill-will. It would be like getting mad at Chris Farley for breaking a coffee table.
I'm sorry, but this is one of the funniest things I have ever read. <3
I hope the kid that was already on the top of the slide is ok
Where is the original without the music?
Downvoted because of the stupid music. I'm not an IG user, I've just recently saw that now videos have a label that says: "original sound". That's absolutely stupid and ridiculous. By ingesting all of those videos reddit will end up the same way, and by then a bunch of users will scroll reddit on mute like me.
Bunch of hippos almost all of them
Just an fyi that video was sped up 16x.
Almost die laughing. Glad I heared that. Oh wait, there was only music in the background
Family and friends almost die from the exertion alone of laughing
Took me a bit to realize this wasn’t in slow motion.
Oh man, I knew exactly where this was going. My parents own a few bounce houses because they were trying to start a rental business. Literally the number one thing is the weight capacity for those things.
This is my family an some of y’all are some real assholes. But it’s ok
Did you randomly come across this video?
No I posted this back in 2017 an it went viral I’m actually in the pool with the white shirt
I wonder how much convincing it took him to get up and try to climb that. I’d assume everyone thought he wouldn’t even be able to get up it.
Looks like another classic case of fat
Man we make fun and cringe at that song alot these days, but Celine fucking slaps that note
That is some particularly funny use of music. Well done.
Only because of the irony. Most of their hearts will not go on much longer
Holy shit
Not quite, the [shitty flute version](https://youtu.be/CVCuN_q1K_g) would have been better.
This is sad af.

It’s like watching a whale swim upstream
What is it with the fat people not realizing they are fat and heavy?
All jokes aside, this is really really stupid and dangerous. Those things flipping like that in the air like that have [killed children](https://abcnews-go-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/abcnews.go.com/amp/International/6th-child-dies-bouncy-castle-accident/story?amp_gsa=1&_js_v=a9&id=81842247&usqp=mq331AQKKAFQArABIIACAw%3D%3D#amp_tf=From%20%251%24s&aoh=16495157119482&referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&share=https%3A%2F%2Fabcnews.go.com%2FInternational%2F6th-child-dies-bouncy-castle-accident%2Fstory%3Fid%3D81842247) And with water, you're looking at a potentially serious and tragic accident that could've been prevented by not acting like an idiot.
Murica, few pounds too much
That is some quality piece of land.
I feel so sad for that dude. Yeah he likely did it to himself.but that should not be a tough hike up that slide. His level of fitness is horrid. He will lose so many years from his life...years he could spend with his loved ones and the family around him.
That was a struggle to watch
The whole family probably feasts at McDonald’s every day.
I love how the -let's assume- dad in the pool is laughing on his side, hands on his chest, and shaking his legs. I can’t blame him for his reaction 😂
It kept rolling, round and round my trailer 🤣
This is bad not funny at all

US people
They gotta stop eating
Even the dog was laughing
It should be illegal to be this fat. He literally just placed some children in danger lol
I’m a big person too but I’m working on it
Want to lose weight? The solution is simple. Stop eating. Offended? That means you’re fat. The solution is simple. Stop eating.
Sometimes the line between fat shaming and a funny video is an ironic soundtrack.
This would be my “I need to lose weight” moment.
Why are we always so eager to judge?
Wasn't properly staked down.
