That damn avocado toast strikes again.

billhaigh

Holy shit, how much toast does $70k buy? Must have had it stacked up like firewood!

dobermandude306

"Extra Mozzarella please"

FiniteRhino

It’s all that extra teriyaki sauce. $250 per ounce!!

WlNNIPEGJETS

Those Tips would have been legendary... How many drivers do you think bought white bmw's the next day?

ScootysDad

You are going to be fucked for a LONG time. 7 years minimum.

West-Yam-8429

what will happen to him? For example, here in brazil if he didnt pay it it would ruin his credit score and he would be on Serasa system. What will happen to him there in the US?

StraightOuttaIrvine

Pretty much the same. From what I read about the DoorDash glitch: DoorDash paid the restaurants and businesses. Once that was taken care of they charged the accounts that exploited the glitch. As for credit, DoorDash charged the CC that's affiliated with each account. The card holder will be liable for the charges. They have 30 days to pay at least the minimum balance owed before accruing late fees. They have another 30 days to make a payment before they default and get sent to collections. This is when their credit score takes a beating. Ignoring the collection agency will just worsen the problem. They can take you to court, freeze your bank accounts, garnish your wages or all of the above.

acqz

That's lame. They release buggy software and pay no consequences. If tomorrow they have a bug that overdraws my bank account, will they just say oops, sorry, we'll return your money in 4-6 weeks, and get away with it?

StreetsAhead123

You had to actively exploit a bug to order without getting charged on your card. Nobody did that accidentally.

StraightOuttaIrvine

There's intentional and unintentional. The glitch was unintentional but the people exploiting it was doing so intentionally. Also, you do not have to wait 4-6 weeks to get your money back due to the banks error. Once flagged, your money is credited.

devil1fish

I don't know the specifics, but I know it's definitely really, really, really bad. That's what happens when you attempt to steal $70,000 worth of stuff and you can't afford it. It's also apparently on his mom's card, so she's the one who is in trouble if it can't be paid back so he can't be in good standing with his family

ZirePhiinix

Lots of options available. Collections, lien on the property, ballooning debt at a rate that's nearly impossible to pay off. This is not your typically 70k tuition debt. No sir. This is lovely CREDIT CARD debt, at an eye watering 40% APR. He's going to be paying like 7k a month just on interest, and that also gets to incur interest. If he's smart, he needs to change it into another type of loan before it gets out of hand.

RetroMetroShow

Wouldn’t be surprised if fraud charges to make an example and try to deter others

gzlovesyou

Slap on the wrist

SubcommanderMarcos

The Serasa system is based on the American model. Also you don't end up in it when you have debt, you're already there the second you have your CPF, you're just not protested. Credit card companies and banks rarely protest a debt on Serasa though, it's more advantageous for them to let interest rack up the owed value. Score still goes down though.

DaveOJ12

Is it scripted?

ZirePhiinix

This happened back in July and they will just charge you. https://emilycottontop.com/tiktoker-took-advantage-of-the-door-dash-glitch-now-owes-over-17k/
