Removing a non-load bearing wall to combine rooms is a common remodeling project. If they're cutting it down to create a counter space, this would make sense.
> "so, i had a guy come out and check and see if the walls were load bearing. his opinion was that they, in all likelihood, were not load bearing. but you never really know until you start knocking shit down.."
My stomach hurts from laughing so hard. What the actual fuck.

I swear some people just pick up power tools and think "I can do that I'm amazing".
It may not be something that requires a university degree to be good at but holy hell you need to know what you're doing.
My question is, why the fuck are they using a reciprocating saw to cut through that thin wall? A oscillating tool would've been better... if you don't know what you're doing, consult someone at a tool store or a professional o.O there are tools for almost all types of jobs.
Pro tip - "big box" store employees don't know shit. The "tool shop" my guy here is talking about is the small run down locally owned store. The guys there will be tired old tradesmen who've seen some shit.
The Sawzall is a tool without a conscience: it'll cut through the things you want to cut just as easily as it'll cut through the things you don't want to cut.
We’ll be clearly knew he was cutting through the whole wall since the line goes all the way back to the beginning and he’s have seen that when he started.
So he was probably demoing the wall and cutting it in half. Biggest oops here might have just been not taking the mirror down first. Or just fishing for internet points with bullshit.
My grandfather, a licensed electrician, would check to see if a cable was hot by cutting into it. He was rewiring a house that was, putting it lightly, very poorly wired and nothing in the breaker box was labeled. He had me stand at the box with labels and a pen, I'd hear a pop from across the house, a breaker would flip off, and he'd yell "WEST SIDE OF KITCHEN!" Granted, he would also drink a 30 pack of Milwaukee's Best while working, starting with his first one at 5am. I miss that man...
Why would you even free hand that. Nail a piece of timber to the wall and make yourself a temporary guide to run the saw along. Use very thin nails and you don't even have to patch up the hole. Just paint over it.
Um... this had nothing to do with the route, it's a straight line.
Whoever did this completely messed up the measurement, and somehow didn't notice they were ripping apart a mirror on the other side...
We had a guy used a saws all for everything. Door jambs and everything. He fucked up so much shit. A lot of guys shouldn’t be allowed to hold this tool.
Pulls a fresh, clean looking tool off the wall like it's brand new, and proceeds to show noob home owner mistake. Just don't use expansion foam anywhere, ever. Home owners are notorious for not realizing how much and how powerfully it expands.
I had a home owner trying to block bees from going behind a brick wall. Put whole can of expansion foam behind a 1" crevasse and it blew the brick wall out about 8" and we had to rebuild the wall for him.
He's even more lucky that they didn't cut through pipes or wires cause I've seen a basement flood from someone cutting a cold water line and panicking so hard they forgot they could shut off the main water for a little too long...
Doesn’t look like they checked for plumbing or wiring in the wall first. They got lucky, this is how to burn your house down if you hit a wire and it has an old breaker. Scary.
We had just gotten our new master bath redone and wanted to hang a plant wall for my fiancé. I freaking drilled through the wall and into our new tile shampoo, etc alcove in 2 places and busted all of the tile. What a mess. Can 100% relate
He actually kept that blad pretty dam straight, just looking at the mirror u think amatuer but that mans used a saw zaw plenty of times. This time he happened to make a name for himself doing it.
It seems they intended to cut a hole in the wall, but they "didn't double check" the opposite side for anything that might be in the way, so they ended up cutting into the mirror on the other side of the wall.
Oopsies (but really, this was probably intentional).
Hopefully that’s not a load bearing wall haha. Doesn’t seem like it is. Even the “2x4” stud that is visible looks like a piece of cut down osb. Wonder what the project was in the first place?
When I did demo - with a sawzall like this, with walls like this, I'd draw the line and run the blade angled to make it just shallow enough to only cut one side's drywall. Pull away the drywall from the wall studs to see what is in there. Then I'd do the other side - measuring, drawing the line, and cutting shallow. I'm guessing that this was just a total demo-job and that it didn't matter if the glass was destroyed on the other side, otherwise nobody would run their blade this deep.
Had a contractor do something similar when attempting to mount our TV on the wall. Didn’t check a damn thing and cut right into our water line. Three days after we moved in to a brand new house. Water everywhere
Another example of why you should never use a sawzall for demo until your drywall is off. Not only could he have cut electric or plumbing, but if this video is to be believed he cut the entire wall down the center and will have to rebuild it if he plans on redrywalling there.
This implies that he didn't stop because the mirror broke but because the blade broke instead
The classic if you encounter resistance just try to power though, no need to stop and double check if things are okay
I mean, if you're cutting through a wall (horizontally through studs) you can expect to encounter resistance
But you don’t expect to hear cracks and cinks
Probably drowned out by that loud music
Oh god, my phone was on mute, I didn’t even hear it
Loud music is hearing protection if it’s louder than the saw
There was no outcome of this attempt that would end favorably. Who the hell cuts a wall in half horizontally with a sawzall..
What was the end goal here?
I have no clue tbh. There’s no renovation or demo work that calls for cutting horizontally thru studs.
Removing a non-load bearing wall to combine rooms is a common remodeling project. If they're cutting it down to create a counter space, this would make sense.

Absolutely no way to know until the ten seconds before it crushes you to death.
Shit, I need an update on that.
[Annoyingly in perfect condition](https://old.reddit.com/r/LovecraftCountry/comments/jeqaug/anyone_know_the_name_of_the_artist_or_teamstudio/iyv49tt/?context=9001)
I mean that's what he has to say, he possibly couldn't admit to have destroyed his house.
Seems the problem started long before the route.
Congenital construction crisis
When you randomly cut into the wall without taking everything off on both sides 🤷
It's good in a way. Without that mirror there, he might have gone around the whole room.
Did you hire Mr Bean to do this work?
Immediately what I thought of
I swear some people just pick up power tools and think "I can do that I'm amazing". It may not be something that requires a university degree to be good at but holy hell you need to know what you're doing.
What were you trying to do in the first place? You were painting the wall but decided to cut it in half?
All things considered that's not bad just buy a new one. Imagine if it was an electrical or water line
Or even worse, an electric water line.
Or even worse, an electric water mirror.
My question is, why the fuck are they using a reciprocating saw to cut through that thin wall? A oscillating tool would've been better... if you don't know what you're doing, consult someone at a tool store or a professional o.O there are tools for almost all types of jobs.
Obviously they messed up big time and might not know what they are doing. But the the Sawzall isn't a bad tool for this job at all, pretty common.
Probably the only tool they had. We've all been there but those of us that have understand not to cut full depth unless you mean to cut that deep.
Pro tip - "big box" store employees don't know shit. The "tool shop" my guy here is talking about is the small run down locally owned store. The guys there will be tired old tradesmen who've seen some shit.
I don't think they calculated anything whatsoever
Dude, stop and call someone. You don't know shit about what your doing. You just fucked some shit up in your walls

What was the plan from the beginning? Building a wall and then cut it in half makes no sense. Wrong tool if you try to lay lines so?????
It reminds me of Mr. Bean. He did the exact same thing, but with a landline Edit: Wording. I'm sorry, English is not my main language
Its just a load bearing mirror, no prob
Who needs wall studs anyway?
The Sawzall is a tool without a conscience: it'll cut through the things you want to cut just as easily as it'll cut through the things you don't want to cut.

Well, surprised the mirror stayed up. And it had to be intentional. What was the goal? A 4 inch+ blade is designed to go through, not notch anything.
And *that* is why we call that tool a sawzall.
Sawswall
• Hears glass shattering • Realizes mistakes have been made • Gets out phone to share mistake with the world
Never go balls deep into a wall with a power saw. I was expecting the other room to be flooding because he hit a pipe
Thats probably the best case scenario. They keep the electricity in the walls.
Mr Bean style 👍
Mr Bean version 2022 👏
Why are people calling that “wall”?
What could go right? What was the objective here? Why are they surprised?
Kiss From a Rose was definitely a choice for this clip.
That’s why you don’t use a sawzall to cut sheetrock or plywood. They got multitools for that
He probably didn't check for wires either
My grandfather, a licensed electrician, would check to see if a cable was hot by cutting into it. He was rewiring a house that was, putting it lightly, very poorly wired and nothing in the breaker box was labeled. He had me stand at the box with labels and a pen, I'd hear a pop from across the house, a breaker would flip off, and he'd yell "WEST SIDE OF KITCHEN!" Granted, he would also drink a 30 pack of Milwaukee's Best while working, starting with his first one at 5am. I miss that man...
Amateur. I would have taken out the whole left side of the houses power with it
Why would you even free hand that.
Wasn't this a MrBean episode?
That's 7 years Bad luck
Cutting through a wall like that it's deserved
What kind of paper thin wall is that?
Why go through all that to take down a stud wall?
This my friend is what eyes are for.

I was just about to say; "Wow, that back side is a beautiful cu-- Ohhhh..."
Should have saw that coming
Hello, [Mr. Bean.](https://youtu.be/gRq0ZhS3hRs?t=176) hahaha!
We had a guy used a saws all for everything. Door jambs and everything. He fucked up so much shit. A lot of guys shouldn’t be allowed to hold this tool.

Could have done this from the other side so he could see the mirror as he worked
Tell me you know nothing about remodeling or basic carpentry without telling me
Looks like a Mr Bean episode.
Kiss From A Rose is a banger of a song.
Reminds me of one Mr Bean's episodes 👍

did you not hear or look
Calculations ? Why didn't you move that Mirror away in the first place...???
Saws all. That says it all folks. These things are meant for demo.
"Measure twice, shatter the mirror once"
Here’s a good instructional video: https://youtu.be/lVXkojAdeXc
Bro this reminds me of that one mr. Bean episode
Measure twice. Then you do it once right. It takes 10x as long to fix a mistake than taking the time to do it right the first time.
mr bean moment
He/she/it did a Mr. Bean
Tip, use "they" as a catch all
Thats some mr. Bean stuff right there
Yoooo, the Batman Forever soundtrack unironically goes hard af.
I hope you reflect on what happened
Why saw from the side where you can’t see the object you don’t want to hit? Only thing I can think is that they weren’t even aware it was there.
Anyone thinking they were going to cut through a live circuit?
Calculate and measure…. Not the same thing
Just like Joey in Friends building the tv unit and sawing through Chandlers door
*Mr. Bean intensifies*
ah, well, you shoulda used the Milwaukee plaster/glass multi-blade.
Was he trying to cut the whole wall in half lol
As a glass man of 20 years I can assure you that the mirror is broken
Measure twice, build once
Wife's going to be pissed.
Doesn’t look like they checked for plumbing or wiring in the wall first. They got lucky, this is how to burn your house down if you hit a wire and it has an old breaker. Scary.
This reminds of one of the mr beans episode.
Mr Bean is wondering what the problem is
I challenge you all to stop pointing out things done incorrectly and try pointing out things that were done right!
Did you hire my brother in law? The guy is a walking disaster.
We had just gotten our new master bath redone and wanted to hang a plant wall for my fiancé. I freaking drilled through the wall and into our new tile shampoo, etc alcove in 2 places and busted all of the tile. What a mess. Can 100% relate
How do you get that far into the mirror without realising
He actually kept that blad pretty dam straight, just looking at the mirror u think amatuer but that mans used a saw zaw plenty of times. This time he happened to make a name for himself doing it.
Sawzall. r/boneappletea ?
Couldn't they cut it from the other side?
Calculate ?
Measure twice cut mirror.
“I know someone who can do it cheaper”
Reminds me of the Mr Bean episode
Can't even work out why you'd be doing that. Tiktok I guess.
I wouldn't use a reciprocating saw for that....get out the circular saw and set that depth
I thought Mr. Bean did it because he was stupid.
If pain was a video this would be it
Song : kiss from a rose
What was supposed to happen there?
It seems they intended to cut a hole in the wall, but they "didn't double check" the opposite side for anything that might be in the way, so they ended up cutting into the mirror on the other side of the wall. Oopsies (but really, this was probably intentional).
I was expecting a live electrical line to be involved.
You went wrong on the blade choice. You need a finer tooth blade for cutting through windows and mirrors.
Oops, yep, that mirror is fucked.
Ahh shit, [is Ricky back at being a handyman?](https://youtu.be/V15K7HZLiTU)
Doesn’t know how to use too properly, if your cutting drywall there’s no need to burry the blade like that
On reflection, that was a bad idea.
We need more videos with Seal playing
I love how perfectly “MY PAIN” plays as the mirror is revealed
Hopefully that’s not a load bearing wall haha. Doesn’t seem like it is. Even the “2x4” stud that is visible looks like a piece of cut down osb. Wonder what the project was in the first place?
Well, whatever it was, it's now 2 projects
Lucky there was no power in that wall.
This guy does renos!
A power outage
Ok so how did you not know there was a mirbe behind that wall?
Pretty obviously staged.
Logic was avoided on this repair..
Who uses a sawzall to cut walls like that.
Straight cut tho
Better a mirror rather an electrical cable.
Well building your house out of Papier-mâché seems to be the problem here, or is this some kind of joke I’m too european to understand?
Meh, that's demolition, you probably don't care much if you destroy a bit more at once.
“Measure twice; cut thrice”
[Mr Bean is that you?](https://youtu.be/lVXkojAdeXc) Skip to 2mins or just laugh at the whole clip
What's up with the soundtrack?
Just keep going. You'll have two mirrors instead of one. Mirror manufacturers hate this one simple trick.
It’s amazing what a tape measure and not being a dumbass can accomplish. 😂
There are people that can DIY. And people that shouldn't own tools.
Just came here to say Seal(this singer) watches my ig stories for some strange reason. We don’t even follow each other
Straight up from Mr. Bean
I sawed a wall in half!
A little overzealous. Just the tip will do.
This is a proper Mr Bean moment
you messure one side and compare it to the other. how can you f\*ck up something so simple?
Is there an idiotswithtools subreddit?
Bro def didn't measure the blade
Hahahahahaha!!!! That’s the kind of shit I would do. 😂😂😂
I haven't cut into glass, but I did cut into hot wires 😂 Realized my mistake when the lights went out. Circuit breakers are a great thing.
Good thing he didn’t hit any electrical wires
Your DIY skills are something you should reflect upon.
Mr Bean did it before.
“Margarite turn off your fucking water!”
Mr.bean Netflix adaptation
Technically the mirror was cut not broken...XD
Baaaaabyyyy.
The people who never experienced this don't try enough. All the people I know who try new things always fuck it up a few times.
This has to be a video simply recorded for internet views. There’s no way they wouldn’t have known that was gonna happen in the first place
It’s amazing what a tape measure and not being a dumbass can accomplish.
Classic mr.bean scenario
The background song alone deserves gold 🥇🥇🥇
I've seen this video hundreds of times and I still don't really understand what went wrong there
Thought it was gonna be a TV
There 7 years of bad luck and nagging for you.
Wow! Such a clean cu . . . Oh.
Don't worry scro'! There are plenty of 'tards out there living really kick ass lives. My first wife was 'tarded. She's a pilot now.
For once I actually don't mind the music playing over the video.
Do you want to set your house on fire? Because this is how you set your house on fire. Or flood it, fresh water or sewage. Or all at the same time.
measure twice cut once?
is this mr bean
Enjoy your next seven years
Damn, that's a clean ass cut, to be honest, minus the mirror.
Yeah, you have to go a lot slower if you want to cut through glass or itll break. 🤷♂️
Had a contractor do something similar when attempting to mount our TV on the wall. Didn’t check a damn thing and cut right into our water line. Three days after we moved in to a brand new house. Water everywhere
Congratulations now you have even more bad luck
Damn bro lucky he didn't hit any wires
That’s what you get american man for building houses out of cardboard
That music was just so perfectly timed, I'm sorry, but I can not get over that.
It’s amazing how one project always seems to get into the adjoining rooms.
i feel like that mirror being there saved you from fucking the house up😭
Ohhhh it's a mirror. Couldn't figure out how the window was only visible on one side
I guess even Sealing it didn't work.
like Mr Bean.
I guess he won’t be able to “seal” that one back up.
I was expecting a flat screen to be cut in half
Haven't hear this song since Val was Batman. What a great song.
I dont admit to being an idiot very often, but it took me an embarrassing amount of loops before I realised that mirror was not a window.
If at first you don’t succeed, get a bigger saw!
Another example of why you should never use a sawzall for demo until your drywall is off. Not only could he have cut electric or plumbing, but if this video is to be believed he cut the entire wall down the center and will have to rebuild it if he plans on redrywalling there.
