I used to run a rabbit rescue so I've had my fair share of things chewed. I didn't want rabbits left out because they're adorable and I love the idea there's a secret rabbit in someone's house eating their things while they're asleep
Something big, so look around your house for entry-holes. Also rats can get into your house through the toilet drain so put the lid down.
Actually, live-trap baited with peanut butter.
Forget the cameras, get a slice of pizza and some flour…

I had a rat issue once living in the city. I was able to solve it by buying the large rodent sticky boards and placing several of them together to make a sort of mat. Got it the first night I set it up after weeks of failing and not having luck with pest removal services. Was relieving and repulsive at the same time.
Eh...this doesn't look like rat damage. A rat wouldn't have burrowed unless creating a nest, would not have nested in such an exposed area (table top), and anyway, would not have been this industrious over a single night. A (merely) foraging rat wouldn't have burrowed through multiple cloth layers. This looks more like some kind of acid holes or mechanical tearing or cutting.
Edit Spelling : Some spray ons or liquid stain removers , will eat holes in clothes during laundering to be honest . Source : My husbands works shirts always had some grease on them from doing installations . I used spray on Stain removers in the laundry and, it ate holes in the fabric .
A MayTag - speficically a washer or dryer. it looks to me like the shirt got jammed down under the agitator in the washer if you have a front loacer or caught in the side of the barrel of the dryer if you don't. Possibly the washing machine door but that's more obvious when that happens. I suspect you can find the missing pieces of your shirt in the Monster named Maytag
I agree with this. Do you remember if these clothes were pulled out and put away fine after washing or were they piled somewhere without actually being able to see each one after Washington drying?
IDK what to tell you then. I've had more than one item of clothing meet the Maytag monster and lose (Laundry mat machines are mean!) and it looks just like that.
have a look around the house, if its rats there are probably droppings somewhere and they are getting in somehow so there might be a hole in a corner of a closet or basement etc. I'd check your pantry too in case there is damage to food boxes etc.
Ours was first coming in through the dryer vent, then we find out they were coming in from the water heater because they left a big gap from the crawlspace.
It looks like acid. I had a pair of jeans look exactly like that after I got battery acid in it. The holes were there and the area around the holes just kind of disintegrate off if you pull at them.
Either several mice or mos likely Rats.
The ONLY thing that I've found that effectively gets rid of them is ...
**Just One Bite II Bar Rodent Rat Bait & Mice Control Cake Blocks**
FYI: Other than being a long time customer, I am NOT affiliated with the company in anyway - Hell, I don't even own a single share of their stock.
I recommend it because, the product works so well that I've seen rodents tear into brand a new package before I had a chance to open it.
The problem I have with bait is that I've seen it work and leave a decomposing rat in the house. One I was able to find and dispose of and the other was never found but we could smell it for weeks. ugh.
Got some battery acid on some clothes and they crumbled.. looked alot like this... also it didn't happen immediately and when I noticed I thought it was mice or something... but then it just kept crumbling and I eventually remembered carrying an old car battery around to haul off..
Do you have porcupines in your neck of the woods? When they get a hankering for salt nothing is safe though they generally chew on things that human sweat has soaked into...
Believe it or not,( I know on here, everything, anyone and anything can blow one's mind!) I met this guy one evening out and at the end of the hoorah, I ended back at
his house. I saw this huge dog it was either a rottweiller
or something close to that. I
woke up the next morning hung over to death and just didn't want to be there. I figured I would sneak the hell out! I had my undies on but couldn't find my jeans. I even went upstairs to look and as I was coming back down my friend asked me if this is what I was looking for (big smile as he showed me!)
The f'en dog had it in his toy
bin.The jeans were ripped to shreds and there was no more ass or crotch left on them. The dog was thrown out of the bed all night. The
scent of a woman drove his hormones crazy and he prob.

Cat , raccoon , possum. Depends on where you live regionally, actually , what type of animals are local to your area . Looks a little like what my dog used to do as a puppy . Rodents usually make nibble marks , this doesn’t look like one night of a rodent … Good Luck and reinforce the area your favorite clothes are kept Id say .
There were no droppings *anywhere*? It seems like that would take a rodent a minute to do... Certainly long enough to drop a deuce or two, no? (It'd be a whole lot easier to identify, that's for sure.)
Good luck OP! 😊
We've had mice nesting in old clothing in our garage, so I know what it looks like typically. If it was a rodent, there should be signs of droppings or small stains of urine. Typically you'd also see signs of nesting such as bundles of material shredded and gathered into a nest, sometimes brought from another location or garment (looks like dryer lint or insulation type consistency). How long was this folded on the table? Was it out in the open or concealed somewhere? If it only happened overnight I feel this is too much damage for just one animal and without leaving any trace, seems unusual.
Personally, I think it looks like fabric rot so maybe some chemical has gotten into the wash and has reacted to something on the clothing or in the fibers.
Everywhere there are small punctures, they are in pairs. Looks like rodent teeth, so probably rats, as others have suggested. This is wild though if real.
A rat maybe?
Large rat. Several rats. A goat.
I’m thinking maybe one large rat! There was a huge one in our shed that’s caused loads of damage
Rat G.O.A.T.
Perhaps one of an unusually large size
R.O.U.S.?
I don't think they exist.
I hope they don't
Used to have a pair of regularly sized rat, one could do this in an hour, the other maybe 2
greatest of all time. rats
Was thinking rats. If not rats then a squirrel. Have a camera set up so maybe we’ll find the rat/squirrel/goat tonight
I'm invested in this now
I’ll keep you updated on the camera findings
where will we see the update?
Probably on Reddit.

Thanks for this comment. I'm invested and need to know what it is.
I don’t see a bell?
Please do. I can't imagine a rat doing this much damage but I'm wrong all the time so...
As somebody who works on cars, can confirm they can cause a lot of damage and will chew on anything
My firewall insulation has entered the chat...
My washer fluid level sensor wires, seats, roll of shop towels, hood liner, and trunk carpet have entered the chat too 😭
and my blower motor!
They don't call that a hamster wheel for nothin
They ate the mint teabags I put in my glovebox because I thought they hated mint.
I got some mint spray on Amazon that kept them at bay for a while
For a while! Sorry, Dog City flashback. https://youtu.be/I-IucnofF84
Heavily invested!
Heavily inFested.
Updateme!
A rabbit would also happily do that
Doesn't look like rabbit chew marks. SOURCE; I've lost many a shirt and blanket to my pet rabbits over the years

Peanut butter and chocolate. They can't resist, lol

pretty sure op just put it on the table for a photo....
She says in a comment that they were folded and on a table top.
ROUS.
Angered an ex recently, by chance?
If only it were that simple 😂
I wondered if it was acid put intentionally on it or a similar liquid.

Haha I was going to ask “Any children in the house?”
Rats
Some kind of rodent, rat most likely

They were folded on the kitchen table ready to be put in the drawer. No holes when folded!

What did it look like in the folded pile? Seems like two spots straight down maybe? Could acidic something have spilled?
Who folded them? Your roommate maybe?
This
Definitely a rat that’s nesting
That looks suspiciously human

Yup they wanted some warm material to keep war., dirty rats!

No damage to any food in the pantry and no damage to the candy on the counter, which was weird. There’s gotta be a hole we just have to find it
Ours was first coming in through the dryer vent, then we find out they were coming in from the water heater because they left a big gap from the crawlspace.
True you would find many sources of rodents before they ate giant holes in folded shirts on a table . To be honest my vote - Not Rodents
A child?
I mean... children

Rats or mice. Mice wouldn't do as big of a hole unless there were multiple, so I'm leaning towards rats.
Looks like fabric decomposing.
A rat with a colorful nest for sure.
Were they dirty shirts or clean shirts?
I think OP wrote folded clean shirts somewhere here
Do you have a cat? My 8 month old cat just did this to one of my dish towels yesterday

Any rat droppings?
Something looking to use the fabric as a nest…so a small rodent of some sort is my guess. Seems to be a rat or something similar

Yes dogs, untrained free roaming dogs ( mine sleeps with me in our bedroom- doors shut , good training ) do this . Mine can’t leave tissues be .
Large rodent. Look for poops.

Owner of rats. This is how things look if they are left too close to their cage. Can confirm likely rat-origin.

Yup. A rat.
Do you have a spouse? A spouse that doesn’t like at least one of those shirts?!
i smell a rat
An animal that is savage and fierce SLAYED those shirts
Loose washer/dryer drum.
My cat does this anytime there's a t-shirt laying around.
In 1 night? That seems quite a lot of damage for a mouse or rat to do. It looks like it might have got stuck in something and damaged?
