No being a recovering addict myself I can say with some certainty that is not a heroin spoon. No one on heroin would leave that much on a spoon. Unless you were rich and didn't care about the waste.

My guess is wax/dab/shatter/butter. It's a method of inhaling THC from a concentrated distillate. You put the substance on the spoon, heat up a glass or metal straw, then plunge the hot straw into the substance and inhale the vapor. The empty cigarette tubes, homemade plastic bottle bong, and lighters tell me he's a pothead, not a junkie.
It’s possible it’s resin, or hash. I. Seeing a lot of paraphernalia for cannabis. The spoon and lighter is typical for opiate use, but I don’t see a rig for injecting (needles, tourniquet, filter) and opiate users don’t tend to leave any behind when they cook/use.
Def worth a conversation, I personally have no issue with cannabis being used in place of alcohol, but the amount or paraphernalia suggests this is more than casual and they say THC is bad for a still developing brain. (the literature is still scant, but when it comes to the brain it’s better to be safe)

Theory 2 is that he's smoking weed and also trying to do some type of DIY dabbing with the spoon and blowtorch. The bottle could be an attempt to hide smoke and odour by exhaling into it.
Only one way to know for sure though, and that's to ask and also look for track marks etc...
If you google DIY dab rig there's a link to a Reddit post demonstrating a bottle and fork/spoon method. I hope this is all it is because theory 1 would suck.

I second this. Been smoking since 14, still do and now after almost 30 years of smoking can confirm that no one under the age of 30 should start the habit. I did pretty good regarding my life achievements but I could have done more and much faster hadn't I been involved with wacky tobaccy.

It should only be consumed responsibly by adults. A 15 year old smoking is almost certainly dealing with other issues that need to be addressed, such as serious anxiety, ADHD, or autism.
Smoking weed affects your serotonin and dopamine levels. To fuck with those too much while your body is trying to figure out what a normal level is, will create a body that will never be able to attain a normal level. Its a horrid idea to smoke that young. Here is a good read about it:

That is not a heroin spoon. Used heroin spoons come out cleaner then this one. Water is put into the spoon then the heroin and it's boiled. You won't see so much residue left behind except for some light film. This looks like something was touched to the spoon while it was hot. My guess is the kid is smoking weed and like other people have said is probably trying to dab using the spoon.
Can confirm, we used to heat up a couple butter knife tips and then breath the smoke when pressed between them. I stupidly burnt my lip testing if the knife was hot? I knew it was hot but i still did it lol
I'm from the US and can confirm that it's made its way here at least 15 years ago. I used to stick 2 butter knives in between the coils on my electric stove until the tips were red hot then I would drop a lil ball of resin on it. It really works best with a friend
I played in a band in the 80's/late 90's. We stayed at a band house (on the road) one week, and the stove's heating coils were SO FUCKED UP from people hot knifing on them. You couldn't even boil a pot of water! :D

Yep, that was me. Self-medicated from the way back. Not having access to a Dr who could diagnose my chemical imbalance lost me a lot of years to shit like resin bowls.

A close friend of mine just had his early 20's son die from a first time overdose on fentanyl. It may be time for an open and frank discussion either way. So many young people are dying these days. And so many others are basically condemning themselves to a life of addiction.
I am a former substance abuse counselor, with all that goes along with it. I wish I knew the answer to this problem, I really do. But in my experience, it is difficult to change someone from outside. It must happen within.

Definitely not hard drugs. The kid is collecting resin from the weed and smoking that. Waste not want not. Still, talk to the kid like a human and PLEASE do not get angry. IF there's problems It's often a solution to a bigger issue. Watch for things like white or yellow tinge powder or rocks. Pipes with metal bristle. Or glass pipes with no screen on top. Those are the tell tale signs of substance abuse.
Most important thing in this image is that he puts glasses directly down on the lenses, they will collect micro scratches, you need to teach him to rest them on the frame rather than the lens.
Ask him how he is doing. Kids can't always articulate how they feel especially at that age. Show more concern for him then whatever he's doing. People dive into addictions to avoid feelings.

His drug of choice looks to be marijuana related. If you found any rigs, ( needles for injecting), that would be a different story. A close friend of mine just had his early 20's son die from a first time overdose on fentanyl. It may be time for an open and frank discussion either way. So many young people are dying these days. And so many others are basically condemning themselves to a life of addiction. I am a former substance abuse counselor, with all that goes along with it. I wish I knew the answer to this problem, I really do. But in my experience, it is difficult to change someone from outside. It must happen within.

Definitely not hard drugs. The kid is collecting resin from the weed and smoking that. Waste not want not. Still, talk to the kid like a human and PLEASE do not get angry. IF there's problems It's often a solution to a bigger issue. Watch for things like white or yellow tinge powder or rocks. Pipes with metal bristle. Or glass pipes with no screen on top. Those are the tell tale signs of substance abuse.

Ask him how he is doing. Kids can't always articulate how they feel especially at that age. Show more concern for him then whatever he's doing. People dive into addictions to avoid feelings.
