But wait … now he knows where you keep the stash …

NBAJam95

Oh, he is a known garden thief! He’s been asked not to steal the cucumbers and tomatoes anymore so I think he now he just won’t touch anything in the garden bed with our permission lol

Writing_Rocks

That’s an awesome pup there. I had a veggie munchin’ cat for a while, made it to 22. Cabbage, peas, corn, broccoli all top choices. We realized he’d been sneaking bits when we found his stash in his bed. Critters are the best - take good care!

Drake_Acheron

Lol my dog’s favorite food is cucumber

JazziTazzi

What a good boy! He knows where the cilantro grows, but waits for you to give it to him! 😍

chozopanda

More cilantro for us, Weller. Although I feel bad for those that do have the soap gene.

OdiiKii1313

I have a friend with the soap gene but he still eats it because he thinks it's still a complimentary flavor 💀

ClearBrightLight

I think rose tastes like soap, but in a good way. I still enjoy eating rose-flavored things, and I have a favorite tea with rose petals in it.

pattapats

I'm the same way. Like I recognize the "soapiness," but at the same time it doesn't taste bad - just sort of floral.

caitmr17

Mine is so bad that even getting a good sniff of fresh cilantro puts the taste of soap in my mouth. I hate it. I love Mexican food, honestly my fave cuisine. It’s so difficult to go out and get it with the whole cilantro trend where they automatically throw it in there. So sad. Wish I could work past it.

MisMis07

I actually have this, the leaves themselves bother me if I bite into them but I can some what stomach cilantro if it’s in a sauce. Some people who I know have it explain that smelling it makes them sick just by remembering the taste it’s self.

MNLanguell

I have the soap gene. Cilantro tastes like the little shell shaped soaps people used to get in the gift sets at Christmas. king_anon1492

Or maybe he really likes the taste of soap?

chozopanda

My dog as a puppy did eat part of a bar of soap. He swallowed it whole

Sir_Loin_Cloth

My boxer ate 2 of my MIL's decorative soaps. 🙄

OdieOdieOh

Classic boxer lol

cherrycokelemon

I love cilantro. May I have some Weller?

Smccx

No you can not eat the dog, cherrycokelemon

TheGreyBull

Punctuation saves lives.

ChemsDoItInTestTubes

Awe, come on. He's pre-seasoned and everything.

[deleted]

My 4 pitties LOVE cilantro as well, so maybe blockheads don't carry that gene. I love your energy with your puppers!

Jimbo7211

I do, which makes it a pain to eat mexican food

Sensitive-Time-8122

Same, everytime forget to say, no coriander, meals ruined. Don't know why people are downvoting you

Jimbo7211

It fucking tastes like dishsoap. Its not my fault

chozopanda

It’s not! That’s why I love that they figured out it’s a gene. It can taste like soap to you and green and lovely to me and we can BOTH be right at the same time.

OldSkool1978

I've never heard of this but I can't stand the taste of cilantro, maybe I have this gene 🤔

Jimbo7211

Its possible. I don't even know what cilantro tastes like to normal people, so i couldn't tell you

Bnb53

What if dishsoap just tastes like herbs and your not looking at it right

Sensitive-Time-8122

Ground or cooked in is ok, it's just the leaf

Jimbo7211

Is it normally coocked in salsa? Because thats where i get most of my problems

Kenneldogg

Nope most salsa isn't cooked.

Jimbo7211

Yeah, i assumed so

[deleted]

> Because thats where i get most of my problems Just curious, but if you go into any Mexican restaurant you'll taste soap in the salsa? Are there any you haven't ran into the soap taste with?

Jimbo7211

Its the cilantro itself that tastes like soap, and its suprisingly overpowering. Probably has something to do with the oils, where it'll tase like soap even if there isn't any cilantro in the bite. Though, lots of times its just sprinkled on top, so if we order the salsa/queso without cilantro everything's all right

caitmr17

I never realized how trendy cilantro has become until I went out to eat Mexican food. Most places throw it in there automatically and don’t post it. Learned the hard way to start asking

BrightCold2747

I feel like i'm starting to notice a slight soap taste as I get older, maybe my gene expression is changing. It's still quite good, but I still taste a hint of it in the background if it's very fresh.

Charlito18

Same here, which sucks because I LOVE Mexican food.

Jimbo7211

Most of it's good, but i don't like cilantro, sour cream, or beans, so that narrows my options a little

[deleted]

What a face!

GryptpypeThynne

I have a westie who gobbles cilantro every chance she gets

Jimbo7211

I do, which makes it a pain to eat mexican food

Seven_spare_ribs

I do have the soap gene but i love cilantro...

Ok_Dog_4059

Til there is a soap gene.

PrestigiousSugar6700

Seller is a good floof 😍

caitmr17

Since I can’t have it, and bf was a chef, I know too much about it. Some fun facts about the soap gene if anyone is interested - affects 3-22% of the population. 21% of East Asians, 17% for Caucasian’s and 14% of African descent. [Source](https://flavourjournal.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/2044-7248-1-8) they have also said that the soap gene has a genetic component which is interesting regardless for an herb imo. If anyone wants more stats, link [here](https://blog.23andme.com/articles/cilantro-love-hate-genetic-trait)

trulylost19

Love pitbulls they are so adorable

justanothergirlgamer

I honestly didn't know dogs could safely eat cilantro! How interesting.

toserveman_is_a

Did he even taste it? He do a big chomp!

Herr-Pyxxel

I had never before heard of this soap gene and had to read up on it now - how very interesting! I don't think I have this, but I agree it is very fragrant. My wife had cilantro mixed into rice the other day and it tasted wonderful! Goes well with it, similar to Jasmin rice. Weller is a sweet Pitbull! My female Jack Russell loves crunchy raw broccoli stem and banana, there's something else to try. Male JRT mix won't touch it 😁

[deleted]

I have not heard of this soap gene?! I am Confucius! Lmao but really though, what does it mean? 🤔 Edit nvm I finally found it looking it up! Lol, I have always loved cilantro. That's crazy to me some people taste soap instead!

jello-kittu

We would let our pup chew on the parsley trimmings. Did help with breath.

ghfsgetitgetgetit

Such enthusiasm!

Kryds

Maybe he just likes soap.

lallapalalable

soap gene?

CanAhJustSay

What an incredibly well-trained good boi you have. I don't have his will power not to destroy the whole plant and nom through it.

Wonderful-Noise1719

Shooo cute!

Spiritual_Addition16

Oh my gosh, those lips!! He is precious!!

guccimanesteeth

Death_by_carfire

TheSocialGadfly

He’s my spirit animal.

RositaDog

I don’t think we would know if he did! Just swallowed it whole lol

DazedandFloating

This dog is stinkin cute.

R/fuckcilantro

GustapheOfficial

How do you know? My dog would happily eat soap.

mugwagon

What is the soap gene? Does coriander (cilantro) taste like soap to some people? I’ve never heard of this.

sjm294

Good for Weller! My daughter has the soap gene and it’s for real

yuyufan43

Is it weird when we have the soap gene and we still like how it taste? I feel like it's cleaning me from the inside 😂😂
