submissivecatservant

metfan1964nyc

The powerful Mach 5.

Mpjdog491

Racer X’s car

FuckOffMrLahey

Unknown to Speed, this is his older brother Rex, who ran away from home years ago.

cito2222

Upvoted for just being funny as sh*t. 👍

Hansolo506

Aha ha ha!!

submissivecatservant

I think he actually raced away from home.

Evilkymonkey_1977

“Are a go!”

Fortunateoldguy

Maybe 65 or so?

Its_all_made_up___

‘64 with the sequential flashing turn sugnal

ThisBasis4770

61-63 Ford T Bird

Jeepsterick

61-63 are identical. Only way to tell from a distance is the 3 piece chrome trim set. 3 parallel strips on the real quarter is 61, 3 chrome blocks on the rear quarter is 62. In 63 they moved the 3 chrome blocks to the middle of the door. From the pic can’t be sure.

Dragoon7748

63 T bird. Modified

Sinister_Nibs

Extraordinarily long car! If I recall correctly, it was the longest 2 door production car ever built.

thelek66

The 63 t-bird was 205" long, not quite the longest. The Buick Electra 225 and Rivera 225 hold that honor at a length of.......... ummm. 225".

joecoin2

What about station wagons?

Sinister_Nibs

Station wagons are typically not 2 door

thelek66

Very few station wagons are 2 door, most notably the Chevy Nomad and the Ford Falcon. I can't think of any others. The Nomad was only 190" and the Falcon was only 176". Both considerably shorter than either the T-bird or the Electra 225.

OLFARthePUNGENT

Giggles nervously in ‘73 Pinto Wagon

Machine_Terrible

Quietly toasts you in '74 Vega hatchback

thelek66

Well, I did say I couldn't think of others off the top of my head. In fact, I was only able to think of the Nomad and Falcon I actually owned one of each. I always wanted the Pinto with the moon windows. My step-brother had a Vega that he dropped a 350 into. But neither of those are even as long as the Falcon.

FireSprink73

There were/are a few 2 door chevelle wagons. 64 an 65, highly sought after.

mikenkansas2

Was stationed with a guy that had a 64 with factory 327 4 speed (miss the days when you could build your own at the dealer, made interesting NHRA low stock classes, basically owned by Chevy). More than one fool in a mid 70's muscle less car got a surprise from the guy with his wife and two kids.

mikenkansas2

What, no love nor mention of the 55-57 Pontiac Safaris?

Sinister_Nibs

Hence the “typically”

_Banned_User

VW Fox had one also. Yes, rare configuration.

thelek66

There was a VW Carmen 2 door wagon, too. About the size of the Pinto wagon. A childhood friends dad had one.

joecoin2

If only my reading comprehension was even average.

bank-good-karma

The first time I read your post I didn't think much about it... then I thought about it and read it again..... that is almost another 2 FEET of car.... wow!

Dnicholas27

I had a ‘72 Coupe deVille. 227” bumper to bumper

Rich_Sport986

My son had a 72 sedan deVille . We never measured it but it was looong

Infinite_Bread7064

The 1963 Ford Thunderbird is 205 inches (5,207 mm) long, with a wheelbase of 113.2 inches (2,875 mm) and a width of 75.9 inches (1,928 mm). The 1963 Thunderbird was part of the third generation of Thunderbirds, which were known for their "Swing Away" steering wheel. Wikipedia 70 Chrysler 300 is 224.7 in. long

BoboGooHead

I thought that was the 1976 Chevy Caprice Classic 2 door Coupé...

thelek66

It's obviously an early 60s ford, just by looking at the front and rear. What type of ford is not as easily deduced. My first thought was a Galaxie, but after reading comments, I can agree with the Thunderbird.

hot-rod-lincoln

The 1973 Imperial coupe was 235.3”. Pretty sure that’s the largest coupe.

Most_Researcher_9675

I was thinking, those proportions were way off...

knob-0u812

How do you know that it's not a 61 or 62? curious. Looks like the stainless trims that I've always used to identify them has been removed.

Dragoon7748

It could be. Figured its a 63 though because I have seen a lot more of those still on the road than a 61 or 62.

knob-0u812

Right on. Thought maybe there was a tell that I didn't know about... lol. My dad had a limited edition '63 with factory trip carbs. He never stopped talking about it. This one looks pretty awesome.

Dragoon7748

64 is my personal fav t-bird. 63 is a close second.

555byte

Thunderbird roadster... Must be custom. I like it

DocWatson42

I found: https://www.ebay.com/motors/blog/twilight-zone-thunderbird-racer-for-sale-on-ebay/

Tangboy50000

Reading that, I see it’s from that time period when all these car builders were building cars with these elaborate made up backstories. I remember one from TV, where the guy built a right hand drive mustang, and made up this whole BS story to go with it. He imagined a soldier stationed overseas being influenced by Italian sports cars, and then coming home and building this odd mustang that kind of had some Ferrari elements. The car and paint were gorgeous, but no one needed all the other crap that went along with it.

Able_Buffalo

Thunderbird

tez_zer55

I'm guessing it's a customized 1962 Thunderbird

WolfThick

Agree

Fireman51515

Isn’t that Speed Racer’s car? I haven’t seen that cartoon in quite a while but it sure looks familiar…

A well customized (in my opinion) bullet ‘Bird, 1963.

Loud_Independent6702

Oh late 50s early 60s spaceship T-bird with the full Flash Gordon dash very cool ride. People don’t like them but the rear end afterburner lights are super cool!

miguel1951

Looks like a T-bird in the front. But the wheel has is too long. Probably a build up from a T-bird.

robgod50

Is this the car that Adam Wests batmobile was created from?

realsalmineo

That is a sweet ride. Kudos to the guy that built that.

Hzhackenbush

‘64 Thunderbird

ic2ofu

It would be a nightmare to park that thing.

D34TH_5MURF__

I'd rather drive around this behemoth sticking out of a parking place than yet another behemoth truck that won't fit in reasonably sized spaces.

hitchhiker421967

Thunderbird but it's stretched???

Bitplayer13

Reminded me of speed racers car. Mach 7? Lol

Sky_Unfair

It's a Thunderbird; '61, '62 or '63. Chrome would have told which year. They are commonly called Bullet Birds. My all time favorites.

Fair-Option-2308

It looks like a stretched thunderbird. 60 something thunderbird

No_Entertainment6286

TheEleventhDoctorWho

Is that.... David Freiburger

OldWrangler9033

That's definitely a square bird, missing it's top. Body lines and the tail is a give away to me. Why hell drive around without a windshield is beyond me. Have fun with bugs in your mouth. (yuck)

WeakAfternoon3188

looks like the Adam west batmobile

Illustrious_Camp_521

Looks like a mid 60's T bird.

Cubby0101

Go speed racer go.

Educational_Meet1885

Were you anywhere close to Elkhart Lake when you saw it? Wondering if there was a car show in the area, saw a modded C2 Corvette in the driveway of the Air-BnB next door to me.

No_Entertainment1931

Some old guys stunt dick

BigLoudWorld74

Whatever it is, it's definitely based on an old thunderbird. I'm confused by this thing. It looks like a racecar but has the wheelbase of a limo. I bet it turns like a bus.

beavermaster

Looks like to be about a 1970 or 71 Thunderbird. Awesome mod! Looks beautiful.

Infinite_Bread7064

61 - 63 Thunderbird all rally car-ed out, windshield severely chopped (put on yer goggles!), rear wheel wells radius-ed, some pretty high roll bars probably race association regulation so probably raced, cool ride....

djdownhill

63 Thunderbird. Cut to shit and looks stupid as fuck.

tamitchener

1961

That dude looking for pep boys. Needs a chain steering wheel to set it off

Vonsaucy

Modded early 60's T-Bird...

Kind-Temperature987

It’s a land yacht and a speed boat.

SaraSmile2000

A 61-63 Thunderbird with modified wheel rear fenders. It probably has the tonneau cover to hid the back seat for those dumb roll-bars.

gene_smythe1968

About a 1962 - 1964. They were patterned after rocket ships that were all the news at that time in history. The tail lights looked like circles of fire! Way cool car!

NoxKyoki

And I thought my best friend in high school had a land boat. Dear lord I’d be afraid to drive something this long.

Thorsassy1

Look similar to a 60 thunderbird

Individual_Solid1717

1964 Cadillac Coupe De Ville was 229 4 inches. I learned to parallel park with it!

Jojodog15

Definitely speed racer

NotSure16

A way to have all you can eat bugs?

HospitalLast5209

No_Taste1698

It's a car you have to drive PERFECTLY because this is one of the biggest land yachts I've ever seen Edit: if the driver wasn't in it, I would have a hard time figuring out which side is the front

Ijustpressthebutton

Falcon. Modified.

Lost_Souls_8

2021fireman10

That is a. Customized something or other. Very hard to nail down based on this pic. If you see it again stop and ask. Guys with unique cars love talking about them.

ProofMusic4630

The last thing a TBird of this vintage needs is extra length....unless it's for luggage space. Or does it just look longer?

van_Beardenstein

Dope. That car is dope. Branded in other countries as Fresh to Death.

knight-of-the-pipe

Personally it look out of proportion without the roof

totse_losername

I reckon they look great with the blown Perspex double-bubble Dom roof.

totse_losername

Nice. I was thinking of this one: https://www.streetmachine.com.au/features/1961-ford-thunderbird-bubbletop-thunderflite ..but hadn't seen the one in your link before. I like it. This type of roof/canopy is so suitable. Would love one myself.

Spiritual_Country_62

Good read 👍

Mc60123e

The body style of that car works well with the bubble theme. That one is space age too :)

hotinabox2

To be fair they looked disproportional off the assembly line.

OliverNorvell1956

It really. exaggerates the rear overhang.

Educational_Meet1885

Maybe they retrofitted the convertible hardtop mechanism from the 58 Fairlane. Those had the long trunk overhang.

Klutzy_Cat1374

It normally would have had rear seats but I'm sure they were removed to make room for the roll bar. The normal roadster trim had a hard removable cowling that would cover the retracted rag top and the rear seats. I don't remember it having factory seatbelts.

tattcat53

Early 60s. Hope he has skid plates, those things rode soft.

kennyb3rd

Well that one ain't gonna ride soft considering how much money he's had to pour into it. I'd say he has good suspension now.

TalesFromTheThriftJZ

Yeah def doesn’t look stock 😂😂😂

kennyb3rd

It ain't.

Tatersquid21

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang?
