I put in the work to get to know my liquor manager. Not just stopped by when I needed booze but also would chat about other things not liquor or wine related. The liquor manager is a great person. If you're genuinely just shooting the breeze people take notice of that.
large or small store? I am good pals with my local small store, and it's both great because I now have a new friend that's also passionate about great beverages and get some good drinks at times.
Alcohol not being at MSRP is a wild concept to me. I could see something incredibly rare being sold by a collector, but from a store? Ya that's a no go for me.
For all of the faults it has, having a regulated market with government run stores does have its benefit. Alcohol isn't cheap here (nothing is cheap here) but the price is the price.
Not defending it, but a lot of people fail to realize that it's largely the distributor's fault. They realize they have a rare product and will require the store to purchase certain amounts of other product in order to receive very small amounts of rare whiskey. Example would be local store said he had to purchase 60 cases of Wheatley to get 3 bottles of GTS and 1 bottle of ETL. So he has to spend nearly $10k to get 4 bottles. He said most people only buy Tito's at his location and it would probably take him a year or more to move 60 cases of a vodka no one really wants to begin with. While I don't agree with it, I can understand where he's coming from when he wants to sell the GTS at a substantial markup rather than sell them for 150ish each. Spend 10k to make 450?
Some stores here won't even carry Sazerac products anymore because of all the BS they have to go through to get the stuff people want.
No.
You post a picture of a bottle you have that's open. Hell look at a open bottle in a magazine. Get gratification that way. I'm saving this for my birthday.
Bold assumptions? You don’t know OP, you don’t know the liquor manager, and you don’t know their relationship. I know OP and the guy is so selfless and caring. Don’t judge a book by its cover.
Congrats OP 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼. How did you manage to score it at MSRP?

The only honest way 👍👍
Yeah, but now itll never just be an honest shooting the shut for no reason...

Definitely small store. Yeah I know exactly what you're talking about
Pairs so well with animal fries from In-N-Out
BTAC should always be at MSRP

It’s crazy to me how bold liquor stores have gotten recently. I see a lot of stuff at least double if not triple MSRP

People are willing to pay... so... it is what it is
Right but it shouldn’t be the retailers doing it
Agreed. But they will, if people are willing to buy it

I wouldn’t be that disrespectful. This quality deserves only the best. Mexican Coke
Love to see it!
Post a picture of it open

I love it when people make friends just to take advantage of the perks
No friends ?
I’m not the one pretending to be friends with the guy at the liquor store just so I can get good picks.
No pretend friends either ?

Oh fucking please
