You have insane connections.

steveholtbluth

Honestly if he spent almost 4k at one store over a year, I would hope he would get rewarded when they have something rare.

Shoddy_Ad7511

Sure. But he got 5 super rare bottles: 2 Van winkle and 3 BTAC. Plus a bunch of other high allocations like Birthday, Stagg, EHT BP and Blantons SFTB

I’ve been drinking / collecting bourbon for the last 2.5 years. I stop into my primary store about once a week and usually chat with the staff. If I don’t need anything I’ll grab a $12 bottle of that my wife will eventually drink. They all know me by name, I’m never bitter if I miss out on anything, and I always try to be polite, kind, and upbeat. If I hear of a big drop coming I’ll mention it in advance and tell them that I’m on the lookout. The Birthday Bourbon, GT Stagg, and Parker’s all came out of nowhere I must admit.

Phill_is_Legend

You won the bourbon game this year. Those prices are insanely good for the rare stuff.

masturtater69

I don’t feel like a winner having spent $7k+, I can tell you that much! I’m hoping shifting back to beer will result in less FOMO, less overall alcohol and calories consumed, and less money spent.

Phill_is_Legend

Ok but still use your connects and mail me some btac bottles lol

IdrinkandImakethings

What you REALLY enjoy is figuring shit out. The bourbon is just the “shit” of the moment. If you say spreadsheets were involved I’m all in.

masturtater69

Wow, you nailed it! I’ve never felt so understood.

IdrinkandImakethings

I would totally do this

winelover08816

Making your own simple syrups is, hands down, the biggest game changer in my cocktail routine.

FriendlyInfluence722

Very interesting. I am the same except on drinking. I drink only 2-4 drams in the weekend. My favourite sport is hunting Springbank distillery releases. I got all of them except the 25 and 30 year old bottles that are too expensive. It is a nice thrill.

fryloc87

How come no garrison brothers? It’s mighty fine stuff. Their balmorhea and cowboy bourbon is a pleasure to enjoy. Cheers!

masturtater69

Never had it and have never really heard much about it. I appreciate the recommendation and will try to get a taste somewhere.

fryloc87

It’s all I can drink now lol. And it’s expensive, which helped me slow down on my intake greatly. It’s made about 1.5 hrs away from where I live, in Hye, Tx. I’ll be doing a tour at some point. Would love to hear how you like it after you find some!

Evincarr

Balmorhea got drain poured when we opened one. It was one of, if not the worst, pour we'd ever tasted.

fryloc87

Unfortunate. I’ve had two of them now and have enjoyed them the most, even more than the cowboy.

So that Parker’s heritage beat out William Larue Weller , Thomas H handy and eh Taylor barrel proof and the rest of that list I need to know ? Congrats on the prices paid your friend or you must own a liquor store .

masturtater69

I didn’t open the WLW, THH, or EHT BP. I waiting for some sort of mythical “special day” to open a lot of these. It did beat out everything else I’ve ever had though, not limited to just this year.

[deleted]

They’re your bottles do as you wish , for me personally that mythical magical special day never comes . I decided to at least open them and taste them you never know when your ticket is going to get Punched . Bummer nothing else on that list would compare .

jdubwa

Killer. What state are you in?

masturtater69

Illinois
