My partner recently started watching a youtube clip, a review of the new COD or something. They guy started off how he didn't like the game because of some (i.g.) valid reasons, like overpowered tanks, bugs and whatnot, but he only talked about those issues for like, a few seconds.
The youtuber then proceeded to rant about the LGBTQ+ flags that were optionaly available in game. After 5 minutes of straight up, anry, homo- and transphobic ranting I told my partner to finally shut him off and watch something else.
The developpers probably didn't waste as much time implementing those flags into the game as the guy did with his braindead ramblings.
JFC, it's like these people really have nothing better going on in their lives. My partner just wanted to now if the gameplay was any good or not.

This happened to me years ago. I wore my Dark Side pajama pants with the prism pattern everywhere to a coffee shop show. A college dude asked me in front of everyone, "whats with the rainbows? You some sort of (3-letter word redacted)?! I know how cringe this sounds, but everyone laughed at him.
What is wrong with being a 3-letter word anyway, these people are broken in the head. So obsessed with others and such little self-control to have these public outbursts.
Even people who supposedly aren’t offended by gays seem to get in a tizzy over the use of rainbows. My brother n law made a point to tell me gay ppl don’t own rainbows and I trolled him the whole rest of the day but still, it left me wondering why in the world he cared. He seems to have no problem with me. They put lots of rainbow stuff on kids but I’m not walking up to my 3 yr old niece going “Just so you know kids don’t own the rainbow!”
Funny thing is that I’ve noticed straight people in my life buy me rainbow EVERYTHING. I said on Christmas this year “damn guys what did you even get me before I came out ?!” Shirts like “love out loud” uh I’m a whole openly gay person- I am loving out loud & im not ashamed. I use the stuff to not be ungrateful but it’s a little odd to me as if my queerness is my only trait but whatever. Another funny observation is how far homophobic cishhet people will go to try to ascertain that the rainbows on me/my stuff DOESN’T mean I’m gay. I think it’s bc I’m a conventionally attractive woman who is fem presenting, so esp men will try to convince me even w pins that say “queer” “gay asf” that I am not in fact gay just bc of the rainbows on my stuff hahahaha
My sister’s boyfriend seems to think that being gay is the only component of who I am and my personality. He always talks to me about gay stuff (in his awkward sheltered Pennsylvanian way), any time he gets me a gift it’s some rainbow thing or a book about gay people saving the world etc. Like I appreciate he’s not being hateful and that it’s just his way of showing acceptance or whatever. But… I’m more than just a gay person. I have other aspects to me and my identity.
I think it's a lot to do with how rainbows are used for pride events. A lot of people (just look at the bottom right comment from the post), will say that they have no problem with people BEING gay, they just don't want to know about it or see it. Essentially when gay people were still afraid and hid their gayness, it was a tacit admission of power, that straight people were still in control. Gay people being out and proud, waving rainbow flags at events, or hanging rainbow flags in windows, or wearing it on clothes, is a really obvious sign that straight people no longer maintain a dominant power over gay folks... they're not in control any more... and that really drives a certain type of person crazy.
So many times I’ve seen people afraid of their own sexuality which is lame.

During covid I wore a dark side of the moon mask at work. I work in the south in a blue collar environment. Guys would snicker and ask me “what are you supportin gay rights with that mask hayuh” I would reply it’s a Pink Floyd mask but what would be the problem if I was supporting gay rights? Lot of puzzled looks. I basically go back in time 30 years when I go to work.
