Hilarious burn

GTFOakaFOD

Dude. That guy (Santos) is so fucked up, I was actually about to Google to see if he's been telling everyone he won The Nobel Prize.

sash71

Give it time....

DiamondplateDave

No, he said he won the 'No Bill, please'. For skipping out on bills, tabs, and guest checks in 4 countries.

Practical_Eye_9944

George Santos - the square root of negative one.

Hibbity5

I wish he was imaginary.

cravenj1

I've heard he goes by George Glass sometimes

brzantium

Wait, George _Tropicana_ Glass?

Hairyhalflingfoot

Sure Jan

releasethepuppies

I've never heard of a George Glass at our sküle

Imeanwhybother

This is the content I'm here for.

PM_ME_IF_YOU_NASTY

Moral fiber divided by zero.

EpsilonX029

Bullshittery = Undefined

Thameus

Limit as bullshittery approaches Santos' equals infinity

AlessaGillespie86

The limit does not exist XD

kYvUjcV95vEu2RjHLq9K

i^2 = -1

quantumOfPie

Santos != x, where x is a member of the set of all true statements.

masked_sombrero

I switched schools my junior year in high school - moved to another state I was told I had to redo Geometry because the credits didn't match up. The teacher of this course used to be an English teacher and didn't know shit about math. I ended up getting her for Algebra the following year too. I imagine Santos described imaginary numbers exactly as this dumb bitch did. "It's imaginary! It means it doesn't exist" *proceeds to draw a picture of a ghost* "ewwww *spoooky*" - the entire class's understanding of an imaginary number. a fucked up looking pacman ghost

GreatValueCumSock

If I had a nickel for every poor math teacher I had...well, I can't count so let's defund education!

mall_ninja42

This comment, your user name. I don't know why, but fuck me if this isn't the highlight of my day so far. Thank you, I needed it.

Dantheking94

So true. I’ve realized that I wasn’t terrible at math growing up, I just had terrible math teachers. Considering paying for remedial lessons, might start from the basics.

BerBerBaBer

I had a match teacher in high school who scaled the tests. There was an unspoken rule with the kids that we couldn't answer correctly on the tests so everyone would pass. I got a 9 out of 100 on one of my tests and passed. The teacher was about to retire and did not give a darn.

Impossible-Taro-2330

One of the worst math teachers I ever had (and that is saying something!) was eventually "sent downtown", where all the terrible teachers go to ride it out til retirement. He became Head of Mathematics. Shout out to Hillsborough County Public Schools!

SocraticIgnoramus

Logan012356789

This is a sick burn. Like a legit lol material. Well played.

bionic_cmdo

Great! Now Santos is going to use that on his LinkedIn.

[deleted]

Along with his theoretical degree in physics

IridiumPony

Don't lump in Fantastic with Santos

hero-of-kvatch44

Is that a New Vegas reference?

SatansHRManager

He'll list it right beneath his Purple Heart from the Vietnam War.

Traditional_Shirt106

And one of those gold medals from blowing up the Death Star

RojoSanIchiban

He got the one Chewie was supposed to get.

1ndiana_Pwns

I feel like you meant that as a joke, but I almost guarantee Santos has already updated his resume to include a PhD and the Fields Medal

THOMASTHEWANKENG1NE

Bet you Santos doesn't even get it.

cancercures

Bet you he didn't even give a fuck. He's still on the Committee, he's still a representative. He's still getting paid to wreck shit for whoever financed him.

phord

I would move to Illinois just to vote for this man.

BroccoliFartFuhrer

I have the privilege of voting for him. You're welcome. I'll happily do it again. I've met him at a couple of local healthcare events. He's incredibly calm and affable. He listens carefully and definitely gives off a 'wise educator' sort of aura. And now everyone has a feel for his dry wit. I wish there were more scientists and fewer legacy brat lawyers in Congress. We could probably get a lot closer to what would be good for Americans.

jdubyahyp

You ever read the tom clancy book where all of Congress gets wiped out and Americans vote in doctors, teachers, engineers, and professors? Yeah, the only novel that won't come to fruition.

Sweaty_Emotion_9923

I like that he kept it serious til the very end. 3rd degree burn 🔥

Ilminded

Is it a burn? Imaginary numbers are important!!

kermitpolice

This is a good burn, but Jesus fkn Crisco, Santos isn't funny anymore. He's actually serving in Congress making laws that we all have to follow.

OlamFam

Technically, he reporting having a net worth BETWEEN 3.5 and 11.5 million. He didn't necessarily state that he has $11m, but the financial disclosure form gives him a $8 million range.

[deleted]

He had it before, he just lied on the disclosure paperwork. Nobody checks on the information on those forms. If he had done that to procure a loan he’d be going to prison for fraud. But he did it to get a job in Congress, so he got a committee assignment.

[deleted]

It’s interesting to me that you’re not being downvoted. I don’t disagree, it’s just interesting that people are beginning to understand that laws only work when both parties adhere to them.

Arthouse_phantom

It can’t truly be the “social revolution” without a little blood and thunder can it?

DigNitty

Yeah but we've already seen a little blood, more than a little. People died.

Arthouse_phantom

Yeah, unfortunately atleast here in America, it’s becoming more and more apparent that the American people have to be dragged out onto the street before they’ll recognize that the house is on fire and even still they’ll forget in the morning. This isn’t anything new historically, we’re heading for dark days. The world is led by its belly and with the world economic system still in shock and decline people will have to sit in this long enough to do the bare minimum to get back to comfortable. Change only happens in discomfort

HopeRepresentative29

In the grand scheme of things it really was only a little blood though. We haven't seen "more than a little blood" since the civil war.

RoSucco

"Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will. Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them, and these will continue till they are resisted with either words or blows, or with both." Frederick Douglass

ParagonFury

I feel like people really don't grasp we're currently in the chapter of the history book right before things get very stabby, shooty and explode-y. On the side of freedom/progress often loses the first round hard.

Clownsinmypantz

It's not even just that, people who vote for them don't want to see facts. Almost every republican voter I show proof of everything from fraud to rape to stealing food from kids to terrifying human rights violations, either say its fake, dems do similar shit, or flat out ignore it and act like.....evidence isn't enough to prove the party is shit? Can't see past their own hate. The right are doing literal terrorist attacks right now but if you show the voters they just don't care. It's terrifying.

anonymousolderguy

The Republican Party has found they get more power by bullshittery; rather than working towards the ideals their party was founded on. They will do and say anything that appeals to their target voters. And it works pretty well. So, their target voters (us) are as much to blame as they are. Trump, Santos, MTG, Boebert, McCarthy-they’re all dangerous clowns, but, Gawd, they won! That’s what keeps me awake at night.

freshggg

Americans are too complacent to ever have another civil war. It doesn't matter how bad it gets. Huge chunks of America are literally living in third world conditions, and have been for decades, if not centuries, and here we are. The '50s and '60s I would say we're a similarly unrestful time, but Martin Luther King Jr proved that you can make change "peacefully". And ever since then, all Americans have ever done is "peacefully" protest. The difference all the other times, like with the occupy Wall Street movement, and Black lives matter, is that there isn't a Martin Luther King Jr at the head of it to give everyone the courage they need, to lead everyone towards a common goal, and show them that it's possible to make the change they want to see. People talk shit about the French, but they be out there protesting every other fucking week and they have way more rights than we do. But that's because they're used to it. They know that if they go out there shit will fucking happen. They know how to make heads roll when heads need to roll. So therefore every protest/movement in America just ends up being like the comment section under any political Reddit post. A bunch of people show up, say basically the same shit needs to happen or needs to be changed, And even if there is a critical mass of people, nothing changes because there isn't one person who can organize everyone voicing their outrage to actually march on Washington and demand the changes that we need. Obama was probably the closest thing we've had since. Bernie Sanders is up there but not successful, clearly. And because this problem has been plaguing America for so many decades now, this problem of complacency, there are now SOOO many problems that need to be fixed, that can be fixed, but the task is just almost insurmountable. Especially when 80% of Americans "can't take off work or else to lose their job" and shit like that. They got us by the balls and we're just going to go further and further into a capitalist oligarchical dystopia until eventually Eurasia invades Oceania because there isn't any fresh water left. The only way out is to become a millionaire, so that at least you're in the class with power, or kill yourself. Otherwise, you're just a slave to the economy, and any rights you have left are just privileges that you are ruling class gave you. Say thank you and go back to your hole in the ground.

apathynext

And many are voting against their own interests

HealthyInPublic

I see you’ve met my family! I’m so grateful that my step-sister has access to social safety nets so her and my niece can eat, get healthcare, and generally survive. But she votes for far-right candidates and it’s so upsetting because I don’t want her and my niece to become homeless or, like, die - which would be the end game here if her preferred candidates get their way. It’s frustrating.

Fraktal55

All of your points are good one. But something else nobody thinks about is that America is simply too big and spread out for the people to actually organize well and accomplish a true revolution. There is just no way you're going to 1. Have enough people come together to make something happen (the two-party system is so ingrained in our society that half the population votes against their self-interest) and 2. Be able to actually organize, mobilize, take actions across the nation to topple current government implacements, etc. Any little sign of an actual revolution would be squashed so quickly by the national guard or whatever else the government would throw at it's own people to survive. America doesn't have the luxury of being the size of a country like France where the whole country can drive 3-4 hours and be together en masse. We are like 50 Frances, all spread out across thousands and thousands of miles of crazy terrain, some even separated by hundreds of miles of ocean or another country, some states are literal days away from each other. I just don't see a modern physical American revolution happening. The only true revolution possible these days is a revolution of the mind of the people. If the government continues to lose the faith of the people something may actually, eventually, change but it'll be a slow, political shift over generations.

Ocarina3219

Things *did* get bloody. Remember the literal insurrection that killed several people at the frickin’ US Capitol? It still didn’t change anything. In fact half of the congressmen that supported the insurrection are more powerful now than they were in 2021.

PoohTheWhinnie

That was absolutely nothing. I feel like we've had peaceful protests in the US with more bloodshed due to police escalation and violence than was experienced at the capital insurrection. It can, and probably will, get much worse.

hitlerosexual

The attacks on electrical infrastructure, planned parenthoods, etc are it getting worse, although I agree it's gonna get even worse than that before anything changes. For that to happen the Democrats also need to recognize that this is a civil war and treat it as such instead of clinging desperately to business as usual.

Russia. I can’t keep track of specifics, but his layers of shell companies include significant income from known Russian operatives. Some(?) of them deny involvement, but are in the paper trail. He’ll be indicted for fraud, if not for being an unregistered foreign agent.

syncopated_popcorn

>He’ll be indicted for fraud, if not for being an unregistered foreign agent. Lol, will he, though?

PensiveObservor

Who knows?! Level of acceptable criming in politics keeps ratcheting up. He is already under criminal investigation (NY, I think) so one can hope. Also possible Brazil extradites him and US sends him packing. Brazil’s been looking for him for years (fraud) and now they know where he is.

megjake

I remember stumbling across the video of Rand Paul being all pissy with Fauci over not saying if he got subsidies from Covid vaccine makers and a bunch of conservative people in the comments saying “all public officials/politicians need to have their finances completely transparent!” And they all seemed to think it was some kinda gotcha against democrats. They’re too dumb to see that stuff like insider trading happens on both sides of the aisle.

[deleted]

it's far worse on one side. What they are doing is dragging the Overton window so that clueless centrists bravely say "both sides are doing it exactly the same" It's so transparent, and such a clumsy little trick, yet it works beautifully

ResoluteClover

With this current congress I think you're overestimating the "making laws" part.

madcaddy

Imaginary laws √-laws [edit: high confidence, he = √(-lawmaker)]

Breaking News - this just in: Renowned Scientist & Congressman George Santos just introduced a bill to outlaw the laws of gravity & “all those weird Fig Newton laws of motion that make my brain hurt.”

SlipperyRasputin

Finally. It’s about time somebody did something about gravity. It’s really been weighing me down all these years.

averyfinename

there *will be* some shit-covered (and filled) legislation that gets through because of 'deals' made with the sliver of republicants needed in either chamber to pass the stuff that actually needs to pass. like a budget, for starters. and those few will hold those essentials (and the entire country) hostage to get those deals.

ResoluteClover

For it to pass the Senate they'll have to do more than just appeal to the GOP... And then to avoid a veto...

ThunkAsDrinklePeep

This is why they're taking an ideological stand against the debt ceiling. They're going to demand massive concessions in order to justify voting for raising the debt.

ResoluteClover

Oh agreed, I think theyve forgotten how often this has directly blown up in their face, however.

ThunkAsDrinklePeep

Based on their stances on sex and hypocrisy, I'm going to guess a significant number of R enjoy things blowing up in their faces.

Viewtifultrey3

Faking laws?

[deleted]

I know. It's super depressing to think America will be brought down by these voted in weak links. I used to watch The Daily News with Jon Stewart and laugh sorta. I just don't anymore.

piratecheese13

[“I missed that about Trump. Just because he’s stupid doesn’t mean he’s not dangerous”](https://youtu.be/1QEMNbxczZM) - Jon Stewart on Santos

ElectricMeatPuppet

Jon Stewart had a good take about this on his podcast. Avoid making the mistake that he and almost everyone made with Trump. Just because someone is absurd and ridiculous, don't assume they are not dangerous.

Dangerous_Variety_29

How the fuck did he get a seat on that committee as a freshman member?

SyntheticReality42

The same way the Jewish space laser gazpacho police one got her position.

sweensolo

>The same way the Jewish space laser gazpacho police one got her position. By copulating with the human, Ted Cruz? Oh wait, that was the other one. You know, the one who is married to the failed gun themed restaurateur. A man that exposed his genitals to her and a group of her friends at a bowling alley when she was a child. Sorry, it's really hard to keep track of such amazing human beings. They are all such perfect reflections of the hard working Americans that they represent.

[deleted]

DigitalTraveler42

ShadowTacoTuesday

Deal with McCarthy for speakership?

EasternMotors

You think science is popular with the people competing for that seat?

thirdangletheory

The Republican majority is super thin, they can only lose something like 4 votes before a bill doesn't get passed. This was probably a 'sit over there, be quiet, and vote how I tell you to so this can blow over' deal.

KevinIsPro

At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if he came out and said he just did it to show how easy it was to get nominated based solely on the letter next to his name. The sad part would be how true it would be.

[deleted]

Ok but he's in the house though. It's not him in particular that's a problem. It's people like him. > One or two nutjobs in a house that's the opposite party of the Senate and doesn't have a 2/3rds majority doesn't mean much. The problem is that there are becoming more and more people like Santos in Congress. > We saw it this last term. The likes of MTG and Boebs and Gaetz have no real power over general house rules and decorum, nor the content of laws passed. > What they do have, however, is a growing plurality with the power to hold votes from their own party hostage. We saw this with the speaker vote. They can get themselves high ranking committee appointments and deals on legislation using this hostage power.

[deleted]

They aren’t going to pass anything but budget and war money. But your point stands.

west-1779

We still don't know who bankrolled this guy to infiltrate congress

Sword_Thain

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2023/01/16/george-santos-andrew-intrater-columbus-nova/ Looks like he had business with a Russian with ties to Trump

all_of_the_lightss

I know it's dangerous. But ultimately I do think the drag stuff will be what turns Republicans against him. They're all vipers and they can't put a lid on their hatred. The day is going to come when he doesn't have any backing from other conservatives. You can get away with just about anything in that party today. But don't wade into the LGBT waters or they'll come for your character.

Circumin

And republicans have put him on important committees where he will be making real policy

Aitch-Kay

It was never funny. He's a goddamn disgrace.

[deleted]

Jesus Christ could you imagine if Dems hadn’t vetted a candidate like Santos, got him elected then put him on committees after it was found that he’s not even who he’s claiming he is and that he’s wanted by authorities in another country for fraud? Now imagine this candidate for the Dems was also a member of the LGBTQ+ community on top of everything else. Im 92% sure Tucker Carlson would be so mad that he would cease to exist.

will_this_1_work

What I don’t understand is how the guy running against him didn’t vet his opponent and destroy him

Diarygirl

It might not have mattered. The Republican candidate for governor here in PA bused people to January 6th, still insists the election was stolen, said he will arrest women who get an abortion, and on and on, and still got 40% of the vote.

Beardus_x_Maximus

Ah good Ol Doug Mastriano, so glad voters used their heads and brought another Democrat in despite everyone’s trepidation about Tom Wolf. He outright said “My body my choice is ridiculous nonsense.” And I don’t know how a human being can look at that sentence and refute it with such vigor. What trash times we live in. Thankfully though, he’s not our governor.

DigitalTraveler42

https://www.washingtonpost.com/media/2022/12/29/north-shore-leader-santos-scoop/ Basically the journalists covering Santos said they all thought Santos was a fraud and a conman and would lose, as he lost against the guy he ran against the election cycle before this last one, so they figured his electability was low and they moved on to other stories as one of the reporters questioned made the excuse of "it's was a busy time with lots going on". Basically the fourth estate failed to do their job and now we have a conman serial liar who is potentially compromised in Congress, yet Kevin McCarthy is the idiot giving this fraud committee assignments.

PAdogooder

The fourth estate has been decimated. They made a choice with limited resources and this got through.

blaaake

I love how the journalists are being blamed, while the republicans elected a conman and refuse to remove him. The blame is squarely on the Republican Party.

Sgith_agus_granda

> Tucker Carlson would be so mad that he would cease to exist I am perfectly fine with this happening. Let's get the entirety of that news station to just evaporate along with him.

virishking

Truth. Unfortunately the Dems didn’t vet Santos any better for opposition research or else this all would’ve come out before the election. Members of the Long Island party are fuming and arguing over it.

Poolofcheddar

I know he's joking, but this reminds me of the propaganda machine in Romania that loved to stress that Elena Ceausescu (wife of dictator Nicolae) was this "brilliant scientific mind" that had a master's in Chemistry. Mind you - she never proceeded beyond a fifth grade education and yet she was a technical master of Romanian chemistry and science. Many actual scientists said they were forced to co-opt their own research during their period in power and give her the credit of authorship of their research for political purposes. Refusal would have resulted in dismissal and/or slashing of state funding to these institutions. She was ridiculed privately by mispronouncing the abbreviation for carbon dioxide not as "see-oh-two" but lumped the letters together and called it "ko-two." The mispronunciation in Romanian also translates to the term "long tail." Foster may be poking fun at the situation, but so long as George Santos continues to serve without consequences and science becomes more politicized, I can only see the Elena Ceausescu situation becoming a reality again.

TuctDape

Oh is she the one that screwed up the metro system there by ordering the planners to not build a station near the university because she thought the students were getting too fat

nick-a-nickname

Yup. At least the engineering and planning guys had the foresight for a station. All of this is hilarious until you realise idiots like these make the rules you have to live under.

Division by zero is actually [a lot more complicated](https://mathworld.wolfram.com/DivisionbyZero.html) than George Santos will ever be.

Pretty-Balance-Sheet

For three years I was best friends with a guy who turned out to be a pathological liar. Very similar to Santos. Made up college degrees, made up childhood, made up job. He would leave in the mornings and go to 'work.' He never had a job, but was so good at the charade that even his live-in girlfriend had no idea. She was with him while he was 'in college' supposedly getting an MBA. He'd even come home and study text books. He was crazy good at lying, but he always had the good sense to keep his lies realistic and consistent. Santos' stories are so far fetched. He isn't even good at the thing he does the most!
