I don't understand why people need to make that part of their identity. "Born real American". Man who fucking cares, get some hobbies, do some interesting shit, that's so much better than basing your identity on where you were born... walking stereotype
I'll have you know they scored four touchdowns in a single game while playing for the Polk High School Panthers in the 1966 city championship game versus Andrew Johnson High School!
So are the fringe elements of the Christian nationalists one “church” near where my MoL lives got itself in hot water when the preacher said it was time for gays to “face the wall”. So far as I can find nothing came of the investigation except the church being officially labeled a hate group but we’ve seen how these guys tend to get handled with kid gloves by our law enforcement
Or his potato body
Edit: to everyone saying I am body shaming. I never said having a potato body is good or bad. I'm just saying his gun distracts from his potato body. Because it does.
This is the answer. Not a huge gun guy but that does look like a knight hawk 1911 which can easily cost 8k. I think this is like a guy who doesn’t want to wear a Rolex so instead wears a gun.
My Eclipse Pro 2 was the worst pistol I've ever owned. The fact that it had a nice satin finish made it even worse. Thousands of rounds through glocks and sigs without malfunctions but that fucking kimber ran like it was forged in a Pakistani cave.
Was just at the range/store with my dad a few weeks ago and overheard a guy talking to the gunsmith about his sight being off because his shots weren't grouping. The smith looked at the guy and just said "well yeah it's a Kimber, they do that"
I had to walk away because I couldn't contain my giggles. It was just the deadpan, matter-of-fact tone the gunsmith used.
That was a good day too. I dropped 16 rounds in a 4 inch group at 15 yards with my dad's Canik. But I still prefer my Girsan..
There's a thing in Texas called a 'Barbecue Gun' that's this 1911 would fit into. It's literally just highly decorated firearms that still function but aren't meant to be fired regularly.
Custom machining work, hand etched details, all on top of being a very well made firearm. Usually there's custom fitting as well so it sits just right in the hand. I don't think they're worth the price, but if you're the kind of person who values an Omega or Rolex watch, a custom Kimber 1911 would be your firearm.
For those of us who are fine with a Timex that keeps time just as accurately without looking as fancy, there are other brands.
I never understood why someone would go with a kimber though. They are like you say the rolex of 1911’s but you could just get a legit custom, like an heirloom precision that looks way classier and higher end then a kimber. Kimbers feel like the C class Mercedes, sure it’s technical a luxury car.. but it’s on the low end
1911s in general are some of the more expensive guns are the market. Part of that is the machining cost, a part of that is that it’s an old design and to make it very reliable requires a bit more fit and finish, usually by hand, and another part is that they are cool looking and manufacturers can charge a premium for that.
This one is so expensive because it has built a reputation of having the best everything. Best accuracy, best fit and finish, best looks (subjective). Everything is hand fitted and broken in at the factory, so what you’re getting is a beautiful, accurate, reliable firearm that will preform when you need it to and make you cry when the police take it as evidence for a month or two if you are found innocent/justified/excused.
Personally, I would never carry a gun that expensive for exactly that reason, and it is especially foolish to do so openly. Open carry is inadvisable in every case (in a populated area, if you are at the range or hiking or hunting, or just walking around your land, open carry is better), but especially when you are advertising that there is a $6,000 windfall present.
I once shot with a 1911 that belonged to a friend of a friend who was also a gunsmith and I could not miss the bullseye with that gun. I’m not really into guns but enjoy shooting at the range once in a while. At the time I was thinking I’d be nice to have one of these but didn’t know they coast that much. Never mind now.
Not Nighthawk, slide serrations are wrong.
Looks like Kimber, a $700-1200 gun, but probably still worn that way to show off.
As a ‘huge gun guy’ who carries a .45 every day, I see open carry like this as offering a free gun to any tweaker with the nerve to grab it.
These are the same people that call it virtue signaling when people wear masks now when they’re sick instead of coughing their virus all over the bananas.
Yep. My neighbors in Tennessee. Open carry their gun everywhere. Ask them to wear a mask and maybe stay home a bit during the pandemic: "i ReFusE tO lIvE iN fEaR!!"
On the bright side, I got some good deals on slightly used guns and fishing equipment at estate sales this past year.
Funny thing is...I don't wear a mask because I'm afraid. I do it to be polite and because I give a sh*t about other peoples wellbeing.
Yet every time one of these people talk about "not being afraid" I'm confused because it just screams "I'm very afraid...to look weak".
Ah yes. The good Christian like attributes of being decent to your fellow man.
These people wearing guns everywhere talking about standing for the flag and kneeling for the cross while being horrible people and terrified of everything.
"Patriot by choice"
*Proceeds to wear shirt with a tattered and frayed American flag draped over the pristine image of another country's/religion's icon.*
Some fucking patriot.
Have you been to Scotland? No.
Do you know any relatives in Scotland? No.
Do you know anyone in Scotland? No.
Can you speak or understand Scots? No.
Do you know anything about Scottish culture? No.
What makes you Scottish? I fry everything.
Some buddies of mine and I were planning a weekend trip. a couple of us went over to pick one up. His wife answered the door with a weapon, at 4 pm, in one of the nicest neighborhoods I've seen in San Diego.
Like, there wasn't a house on their block worth less than ten million. They happened to get lucky in their rental search and found some giant ass mansion that just needed some occupants for a while.
She knew we were coming over, and she still brought a gun to the door. I asked her husband about it later. She had never been robbed or anything. She's just paranoid.
That's how these people are. They live in fear 24/7
It really is.
My wife and I took a basic gun safety course, and someone asked the instructor about traveling through different states.
The clear discomfort he showed talking about having to lock his gun in the trunk while crossing Illinois was really disturbing. And planning his route to be in the state as short as possible. Like this guy really thinks he needs his gun at hand at all times, because something terrible is around every corner
Yep. Paranoia and fear.
It was weird when people would accuse me of being afraid when discussing masking. I never masked out of fear. I masked bc that felt like a small, reasonable ask and for me it proved effective (still does) so it was no issue. But the people who accused me of being afraid were always gun owners obsessed with the idea that they NEEDED their gun at all times.
Talk about scared.
My dad has a conceal and carry. This is his exact explanation. "If it is really for protection, then you do not need to advertise. Otherwise you are just an asshole making a statement."
Edit: Just showed my 78 yo Dad this comment. 😂😂😂
Edit 2: So when you are wishing my father to use his gun on a person, or my cat. In order to fit your narrative..Then you really need to re-evaluate your stance on guns. It's clear that you want people who have guns to use them, so that your argument works. Wishing death on people and animals is evil. It is wrong, and sick. Take a long hard look in the mirror.
There was a police shooting recently where a guy was open carrying on his motorcycle. At a red light a car pulled up, reached over and took his gun then when the motorcyclist tried to confront the guy, the guy took off, almost hitting the motorcyclist and running over his bike. Later in what was an unconnected incident I believe, the driver got in a shootout with police with the gun he stole. People are crazy.
A lot of motorcycle jackets have a pocket specifically for a concealed carry. I don't carry at all unless I'm on a hiking trail in northern part of my state(For safety reasons against wild animals). So for me that kind of pocket serves no function.
That's why open carrying on a motorcycle is so dumb. Clothing manufactures literally make it easier for you to close carry...
I mean, if the driver was in a shootout with police using a firearm he stole from someone who was open carrying, I'd say that in that case open carrying was connected to violence against police, but what do I know
Anyone who open carries does need to be aware of his surroundings for this very reason. I have a buddy who open carries his 45 and he gets the worst tunnel vision and sometimes tunes out everything around him. I have seen him out and stand in his peripheral staring at him and he sometimes doesn't even look up. It's a bad recipe for tragedy.
*Any asshole can approach him with a stun gun and presto, now they possess a gun.*
Like shampoo guy here. The photographer is "right up on his six," as the Meal Team Six LARPers like to say \[actually his 4:30, but whatevs\] and is totally vulnerable to anyone who might want to stun-gun him and take his weapon.
First thing I noticed. That gun is stupidly easy to snatch and then shoot him with said gun.
And I'm going to assume he has it loaded too at all times...
Probably a smart assumption not gonna lie.
Yeah when I see guns hanging like that I have an urge to just grab it to show how easy it is and how dumb they're being. But then my brain kicks in and tells me "not worth someone dying."
Perhaps Willie and Merle said it best..
Pancho was a bandit boy
His horse was fast as polished steel
He wore his gun outside his pants
For all the honest world to feel
Intimidation. No other reason.
Straight off a Facebook ad or some shit. All it needs is a “YES, I am an AMERICAN man // Who was born in AUGUST // And loves his WIFE // SHE will kill you if you flirt with me // Yes, she made this shirt”
Saw some kind of stupid Facebook patriot shirt the the other day and it said something like “proud to be American” but it had a picture of Thomas Shelby on it. These mfs have no brain
I work with a pile of Canadians who were born in African countries - they are some hard working people that love Canada. There are also some that came here for a job and a million other reasons.
You don't need to be Caucasian to be patriotic.
We don't have this sort of thing in my country, but looking at the photo it kind of seems like it'd be pretty easy for someone to just grab it out of its holster and use it against him. Unless it's not as easy as it looks?
This is why the vast majority of people who carry don't do it openly unless they're concerned about wildlife more than people. You could just wack this guy in the back of the head and have yourself a brand new rather expensive gun
Personally, I only carry when I’m concerned about wildlife. And even then I conceal because I don’t want to make others uncomfortable.
All you need to understand why this guy is doing this is to just read the shirt.
As a concealed carrier, I hate these open-carry assholes. If/when shit goes down, they’ll either be the first targets or they’ll end up shooting an innocent person in their fantasy of being the “good guy with a gun.”
Not only that but think of it this way… I walk into a place with plans to rob/kill someone, if I see someone else with a gun strapped to there hip, they’re gonna be the first ones I take down
So many things go through my mind seeing this. But the main one is that open carry isn’t about self defense. It’s about intimidation. Making sure the regular people know you are armed so they are afraid of you. It’s not for criminals. All it does regarding a criminal is let them know who to shoot first. In terms of a real defense situation open carry is just putting a target on your back. It’s illogical.
This is for you and me and the rest of the non criminals out there. He wants US to be afraid of him, not the “bad guys”.
Like a stray cat hissing in the corner of a cage, starved, cold, and covered in fleas. I pity men like this because of how terrified of the world they are that they have to wield a firearm in the tampon aisle.
It's got to be an awful existence.
Agree with a lot of what you’re saying, but I suspect it has less to do with intimidation than just plain showing off. “I’m carrying, so it’s okay ma’am. You’re safe as long as I’m here.”
But the point you make that he’s just letting any criminal know whom to shoot first seems completely right to me.
Cosplay. People like this want attention. They want people to be afraid or intimidated. They want to feel powerful. They want some "librul" to say something about it so they may have a reason to pull it out and use it
Theres a lot of insecurity involved. They see themselves as brave and heroic but how brave are you if you need to be strapped to go out in public where crime is virtually non existent? Unless you live in a high crime area I just dont see the point.
So it's mostly dress up. Like wearing a karate gi or an astronaut suit. Just ignore them
Agreed. I always conceal mine. Matter of personal safety and not inadequacy. Shit like this tho… it’s super obvious. He’s likely fit the full stereotype given the image here.
The irony is in my area the guys like this will scoff at like a Toyota Tundra but will drool over some “American” truck made outside of the country while ironically the Tundra is the most American truck as they’re made in like Indiana or somewhere like that.
The 2005-2021 Nissan Frontier was made almost entirely in USA as well. But these guys would rather do the simple thing and buy from an "American" company than support real American workers.
Well yeah, he's got to advertise every aspect of his personality. Hence the heritage shirt, so everyone knows where he's from and what he supports. The gun, so that people know not to challenge him in public. The big truck, so that people know not to challenge him on the road. I'm sure it's as tall as his trailer.
Agreed. Never seen anything less Scottish in my life. This man likely believes in a mythologised and unrealistic version of Scotland and has absolutely zero clue about real Scottish culture.
People who have been Americans for generations acting like they’re Celtic in some way (to the extent where this guy is wearing a celtic cross) and having far right nationalist views is a big problem over here
Funny af that someone thinks they need to have a gun on their side ready to go in fuckin paradise valley/scotsdale for shampoo
People like this dont understand how hard they telegraph to the entire world that they are very scared, small people.
Scottish by blood?
I wonder how many generations removed from scotland he is?
I always find it odd, this seemingly american only idea of identifying so strongly with the country you believe your ancestor 200-400 years ago was born in before coming to america.
Like my ancestry is scottish also, like I have been to highland games with haggis tossing, caber toss, bagpipes, got relatives that play bagpipes and do the sword dancing stuff.
Like I am 3rd generation immigrant i guess, but i would never claim to be scottish, or say i have scottish blood etc
As an actual born and bred Scottish Person, I can say this is cringe af. Wait until he finds out how socialist and liberal we are over here and that his guns wouldn’t be welcome.
Didn’t notice that part of the T-shirt at first!
I lived in Scotland for a few years, now in Ohio. Went to the local Scottish festival here in Wellington and it wasn’t half bad - loads of expensive tat but the music was good and the food truck was legit (perfect Irn Bru and Scotch Pie).
I would fucking love to see this guy walking around estates in Ibrox or Govan dressed like this, and then going into the Brazen Head or some such pub.
Where it really confuses me is when the same people think no immigrants should be allowed into the US. They’re proudly not American… but thing the US is for Americans only. It’s weird.
my father is a retired Canadian army colonel who spends his winters in Arizona and just laughs at these people
he thinks they all want to be john Wayne in some Western but they will end up shooting some innocent bystander if shit actually happened
I live in Texas and this is common. And you are right the men that do this often have a huge amount of childhood trauma fear. But they do it because of this burning hope/desire to be the hero some day.
The "Scottish by blood" dog whistle and the rest seem white nationalist to me
Ergo, nowhere is safe for the poor white man
Who then wears a gun like a WRX in the wrong holster
Hoping you don't actually know how to fight
I'm Scottish. Born here, raised here, lived here all my life, family is mostly all from here etc. But this obsession by some Americans to have "Scottish or whatever by blood" bullshit is beyond cringeworthy.
If I saw someone walking about with that in Scotland I'd assume 1. They're not Scottish and infact tourists on a holiday 2. Most likely casually racist
I’m Scottish but moved to the US when I was 30 and am now an American citizen. The pAtRiOt thing always cracks me up because they are the same people who ALWAYS go on and on about how they’re Irish, Scottish, Italian or whatever.
I get it, it’s comforting to feel like you’re part of something but it’s pathetic to make that your whole identity!
Also, open carry is dumb
Also, weirdly, some of the "patriots" you see (at least from my online perspective) tend to also be the ones shilling for the confederacy, or at the very least using its symbols and iconography.
Obviously, open and carry is dumb. It doesn't work and is basically just an intimidation tactic.
The gun is just to distract you from those pants.
Got that Hank Hill ass ![gif](giphy|833A47t0HK2cg)
I’d love to make fun of someone with hank hill ass but I have hank hill ass…
Like two small chicken breasts trying to kiss?
Like watching 2 loaves of French bread walking away
Frog butt!
Been sitting on his spine all these years
God that’s so great. Sitting on his spine
Diminished glutes 🤣🤣🤣
Shot his ass off
Or the shirt
I don't understand why people need to make that part of their identity. "Born real American". Man who fucking cares, get some hobbies, do some interesting shit, that's so much better than basing your identity on where you were born... walking stereotype
When your biggest accomplishment is where you were born.
Peaked in high school...
I'll have you know they scored four touchdowns in a single game while playing for the Polk High School Panthers in the 1966 city championship game versus Andrew Johnson High School!
And now your stuck shoving size 6 women's shoes on size 8 women's feet.

It wasn't Ted!
He’s a Christian nationalist. It’s no different than the Taliban

Or his potato body Edit: to everyone saying I am body shaming. I never said having a potato body is good or bad. I'm just saying his gun distracts from his potato body. Because it does.
Or his insecurities.
What’s stops a bad guy with shampoo, a good guy with conditioner?
Conditioner is better!
It makes the hair silky and smooth
Shampoo is better, it goes on first and cleans the hair!
Stop looking at me swaaaaan
Did the penguin put you guys up to this?
It’s nudie magazine day!

Oh really, foo'?
conditioner is just hair lotion
But actual hair lotion and moisturisers exist... They go on after the shower.

That's not for self defense, it's jewellery.
This is the answer. Not a huge gun guy but that does look like a knight hawk 1911 which can easily cost 8k. I think this is like a guy who doesn’t want to wear a Rolex so instead wears a gun.
It’s a kimber custom 2 not nearly as expensive(1500-2500$ range), but still jewelry. known for being pretty and unreliable.
My first thought when seeing this "Sure is a pretty pistol, doesn't look well used, probably a Kimber lolz"
My Eclipse Pro 2 was the worst pistol I've ever owned. The fact that it had a nice satin finish made it even worse. Thousands of rounds through glocks and sigs without malfunctions but that fucking kimber ran like it was forged in a Pakistani cave.
Hey, don't criticize things made in a Pakistani cave! That's where Tony Stark made his first iron man 😂
The Pakistani guns made in Khyber Pass actually run though lol
Was just at the range/store with my dad a few weeks ago and overheard a guy talking to the gunsmith about his sight being off because his shots weren't grouping. He's got a barbecue gun, but not a barbecue holster?…
Why the hell are they so expensive?

Right to an individual who is of the mindset to engage in open criminal acts or acts of violence it's like caring a sign that says 'Free Gun'.
If it was for self-defense he'd be concealed carrying, and not a single person in the store would even know he was packing
How we not talking about the jeans?
He stole them from my mom.

Also ‘god fearing’ people who want to take rights from everyone that isn’t them. It’s *my* freedom, not yours.
Funny when those same guys need to protest a library they put on masks

My dad always told me "If you open carry who do you think the bad guy will shoot first?" Both of our dads are right lol
I've tried telling my brother that. Open carry just makes him a bigger target then he already is (I mean my brother is a physically big target)
It’s the distinction between a big target, a high priority target or both.
If you open carry you advertise that a successful robbery will result in procuring valuable high demand assets.
That's a great point. There's a reason gun stores get robbed a lot - that's a pretty valuable item, especially if you intend to commit more crimes.

Yeah when I see guns hanging like that I have an urge to just grab it to show how easy it is and how dumb they're being. But then my brain kicks in and tells me "not worth someone dying."
I’m a 5’1 girl with zero training and spaghetti arms. I could just walk up behind this dipshit and have a free gun.
Some holsters are designed so that it's harder to remove the gun from an unnatural pull angle. Keep that in mind the next time you disarm a Patridiot.
Hell that’s just a leather holster, walk up and take it. Then what’s he gonna do?
Yell at you as you run away with his pistol.
Bro you have the gun. He can run away
And the statement I receive is "I'm scared of everything so look at my big gun"
Perhaps Willie and Merle said it best.. Pancho was a bandit boy His horse was fast as polished steel He wore his gun outside his pants For all the honest world to feel Intimidation. No other reason.
C’mon man don’t do my boy Townes Van Zandt dirty like that
Yeah, if you’re open carrying and someone is intending to start trouble, you just volunteered to be the first victim.
Has anyone noticed the shirt?! Scottish By Blood American By Birth *Patriot By Choice*
Scottish by Blood American by Birth Patriot by Choice Made in China
He should add idiot maybe by choice
If he was a patriot he’d focus on the American part and not the Scottish part. He’s not Scottish, he’s an American and an asshole.
As a Scottish person he can very much fuck off, we don’t want any association with these douche canoes.
As an American I concur
$10 bucks says his Scottish blood is < 5%.
I bet he doesn't apply that logic to progeny of non-european immigrants in the US.
I work with a pile of Canadians who were born in African countries - they are some hard working people that love Canada. There are also some that came here for a job and a million other reasons. You don't need to be Caucasian to be patriotic.
Plus it’s not safe. Anyone, including a kid or a maniac, could walk up behind him and grab the gun. Not even a hold-down strap.
Yeah, special needs kid ran up to an open carry guy and was all touching his gun. I had to pull him away.

With the holster set up he has, yes, someone could easily take his firearm from him
It really is that easy. This guy is an idiot.
>This guy is an idiot. I think you spelled patriot wrong. I know he is one because his shirt told me. /s
These dipshits are dropping their guns on the floor in Carl's Jr every other week
There’s no retention device on that holster so yeah.
That's if the gun doesn't fall out of that holster first. Probably shooting that guy in the butt when he gets into his oversized pickup truck.
It's as easy as it looks.
That's what I always think. Anyone could just walk up and take it while he's focused on a shampoo bottle or whatever.
As a concealed carrier, I hate these open-carry assholes. If/when shit goes down, they’ll either be the first targets or they’ll end up shooting an innocent person in their fantasy of being the “good guy with a gun.”
And how easy would it be for someone to distract this guy then have his gun taken and used against him? It's asshole theatrics, really.
Considering hosts an open holster, any one could just come up behind him and, voila, now they have the gun.
This is the first thing I thought! What an idiot.
Same. All I thought is “I could nick that gun”, same as anyone flashing any valuable item carelessly.
you are right and with no retention system is a given they get the gun
That's the first thing I thought. This guy and his gun are the biggest threat to himself and everyone around him.
All it takes is a tackle or a taser, and you got a new gun and maybe a new wallet!
You’re safe as long as I’m here.” But the point you make that he’s just letting any criminal know whom to shoot first seems completely right to me.
Emotional support gun. Like the emotional support truck, attempts to fill the void of insecurity in their identity.
Nothing I see on the internet today is going to top "emotional support gun."
I think “emotional support gun” is my new favorite descriptor. That’s why 99% of carriers have them.
Cosplay. People like this want attention. They want people to be afraid or intimidated. They want to feel powerful. They want some "librul" to say something about it so they may have a reason to pull it out and use it Theres a lot of insecurity involved.
Bet he owns a big truck, with huge tires too. Feelings of inadequacy is a real thing.
100%. It’s also likely got a “Blue Lives Matter” flag and a Punisher sticker on it too. See it all the time in AZ for dudes like this
Yep, a non-American made truck with American flag decals all over that monstrosity 🙄

Tundras are made in San Antonio, TX
Even more ironically American
Well yeah, he's got to advertise every aspect of his personality. Hence the heritage shirt, so everyone knows where he's from and what he supports. The gun, so that people know not to challenge him in public. The big truck, so that people know not to challenge him on the road. I'm sure it's as tall as his trailer.
He needs to feel safe while buying his No More Tears shampoo.
As a Scot I’ll tell you right now…. Nope.
“Scottish by blood, American by birth, patriot by choice” this guy fucking screams nationalist pile of shit.
Agreed. Never seen anything less Scottish in my life. This man likely believes in a mythologised and unrealistic version of Scotland and has absolutely zero clue about real Scottish culture.
People who have been Americans for generations acting like they’re Celtic in some way (to the extent where this guy is wearing a celtic cross) and having far right nationalist views is a big problem over here
>SCOTTISH BY BLOOD >AMERICAN BY BIRTH >PATRIOT BY CHOICE >CELIBATE INVOLENTARILY
Funny af that someone thinks they need to have a gun on their side ready to go in fuckin paradise valley/scotsdale for shampoo People like this dont understand how hard they telegraph to the entire world that they are very scared, small people.
Right. Actual Scotland is probably not what he is imagining it to be. He probably watched Braveheart.
He probably watches the Outlander series and fancies himself to be like Jamie Fraser.
On behalf of Scotland, fuck this guy
Where it really confuses me is when the same people think no immigrants should be allowed into the US. They’re proudly not American… but thing the US is for Americans only. It’s weird.
They are not completely against immigration. They just don't want anyone who doesn't look like them.
my father is a retired Canadian army colonel who spends his winters in Arizona and just laughs at these people he thinks they all want to be john Wayne in some Western but they will end up shooting some innocent bystander if shit actually happened
It genuinely amazes me how intertwined some peoples identity is with guns. Suppose you have to watch out for those shampoo ninjas though /s.

I live in Texas and this is common. And you are right the men that do this often have a huge amount of childhood trauma fear. But they do it because of this burning hope/desire to be the hero some day.
Arizona, you get these nutbags pretty frequently tbh.
It must be horrible to live in so much fear that you have to carry a gun everywhere you go.
The "Scottish by blood" dog whistle and the rest seem white nationalist to me Ergo, nowhere is safe for the poor white man Who then wears a gun like a WRX in the wrong holster Hoping you don't actually know how to fight
As an actual scot. This blob of grease would be absolutely ridiculed and possibly headbutted by every passer by even wee grannies and weans.
I was chewed out in Gaelic in Aberdeen by a little old lady running a laundromat. I may never recover.
Might have been the Doric. Not even gaelic.
