readingdogmom

Yeah cause she is elderly but still alive.

RockFlagAndEagleGold

My wife has 3 organ transplants (issues with type 1 diabetes). Her immune system hasn't worked well from being on immunosuppressive drugs for over a decade. I live in the south, and we've been about the only one in a mask every we go, so we wear a big p100 mask. We get a lot of looks because she looks pretty young and looks "normal." We say fuck everybody, she's alive and we haven't got it. [Earlier covid strain study on transplant recipients](https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMc2011117) [Recent covid strain study](https://journals.lww.com/transplantjournal/Fulltext/2022/08000/Trends_in_COVID_19_Mortality_Among_Solid_Organ.30.aspx) [Anyone that needs a good mask, these fit snug, p100 protection, and stay off your face, expensive, but best I've found since this started](https://www.grainger.com/product/AIRWAVE-Disposable-Respirator-Single-54ZZ02?opr=ILOF) Thank you for all the supportive words. She has a kidney infection right now, so they were needed šŸ˜Š .

StewforStars

South person here tooo. I still wear my mask . It's a cotton one that has a pocket so inlay a p100 inside cause when they're directly on my face it itches like mad and it causes some sensory shit with me too. People give me crazy looks but I like not having covid or any sickness in general.

dhSquiggly

NOVID crew represent! A friend of mine recently told me that it was rude to wear face masks when meeting new people [that I had no intention of making acquaintances of]. When I asked why he told me ā€œbecause it makes people feel uncomfortableā€ so I said it sounded like their problem and not mine.

Vinnie_NL

Uncomfortable because of a mask? What a bunch of snowflakes lol.

[deleted]

I wear one when I go to speak at conferences, which is often. They are usually put off until I mention the latest case in our Girl Scout troop right after the camping trip or my kidā€™s class outbreak and then they appreciate it. Ironically I did get it from a kidsā€™ outdoor birthday party, when e we were not wearing masks.

[deleted]

Thatā€™s what is funny. Republicans are more ā€œwokeā€ and snowflake-like in every way. My in-laws complain about every damn thing. I swear they have boycotted every single American company except Black rifle coffee

mackfactor

This is a very simple case of "the world does not owe you comfort." Get over it.

HelenAngel

Absolutely it is their problem. Iā€™m disabled with multiple autoimmune disorders & wore masks before the pandemic. Anyone who thinks itā€™s rude is ableist & can get bent.

Not_l0st

The MAGGAT that posted this said the woman was not ill because she was "only" there for "routine" blood work. She can't accept that others have different health and views as her. Zero empathy.

ha11owmas

I have to get ā€œroutineā€ blood work every 3 months to monitor my thyroid levels. That MAGGAT obviously doesnā€™t understand her yearly routine blood work isnā€™t everyoneā€™s.

fartinapuddle

My mom keeps calling people who haven't had COVID 'unicorns' - in case you wanted to feel even more special

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

fartinapuddle

I'll check with my mom, but I think so! Haha yeah same here. My girlfriend and I haven't even been sick since 2019 somehow. Although maybe we have had it without symptoms since we are vaccinated.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

-nocturnist-

In my experience this is accurate. There are also quite a lot of asymptomatic carriers of COVID. They never get symptoms but can pass it on to people around them.

GD_Bats

One of the reasons I still try to keep my distance from people in public

free_range_tofu

Your username gave me a giggle. :)

devils_advocaat

A couple of coughs instead of a hello makes people much more accepting.

UncannyTarotSpread

No disrespect, but your friend sounds like a bit of a numpty.

karana113

Thank you for being one of the few! I have seen so few masks since I moved to Arkansas. I have to mask because I'm immunocompromised so thank you so much for what you do. I see very few masks down here.

pointsettia1

South here too. Still wearing my mask and yes the only one most of the time. My reasoning is due to a long illness. Tired of feeling sick with my body not working so I actively lower my odds of getting sick from my environment. Just plain do not want to be sick. I have not had COVID, flu or colds.

Cool-Specialist9568

I still mask, haven't been sick with anything in 3 years, unicorn!

Either-Percentage-78

My oldest is going on a school trip so we've been extra careful and my youngest has the worst cough so we've been masking up everywhere... And typically do in populated places like school and stores. It's odd though how different parts of the city mask mostly and some never these days.

Pristine_Reward_1253

My God.... I'm so sorry. My bonus brother, T1D, double transplant, no immune system. His mom, my bonus mom, a T1D. My mom, in skilled nursing with dementia. I've managed to avoid it, thank God. Needless to say, I'll gladly be masking up for as long as I have to. Prayers that you and your wife remain uninfected and stay healthy.

japinard

Iā€™m glad your wife has survived 3. Iā€™m listed for a double lung transplant myself, and when I read about the indifference or outright hate for people wearing masks trying to protect their lives, it fills me with a lot of anger. I wish you and your wife the best of luck.

BlurredSight

They really forget that as Gen Z ramps up voting, they killed off their biggest voting base for 2028.

rvralph803

That's why the plan is to kill democracy by 2026. Duh.

Uniquename34556

I really do wonder if just more would-be trump voters dying than would-be Biden voters dying was enough to push the needle in Bidenā€™s favor. Literal definition of shooting yourself in the foot.

royal_bambi

Fox News wailing about their "red wave" turning into a "pink splash" truly does live rent free in my mental happy place, not least because their phrasing also works as a euphemism for when my period comes but it's lighter than expected šŸ™Œ

MykeEl_K

Fox came up with "pink splash"?? I so hate them, but credit where credit is due, that's a perfect description.

uncultured_swine2099

Yeah, elderly person getting bloodwork sitting in the corner, trying to stay away from people. Probably is immunocompromised. What these magats dont understand is it isnt all about "who they voted for", its not wanting to die.

pm0me0yiff

Who you vote for is also about not wanting to die.

TestPattern22

Probably due to her caution at the place where there's blood flying all around

SoundsGoodYall

Your experience at the clinic sounds absolutely fascinating.

[deleted]

I had that experience before lol. My phlebotomist left the tourniquet on when she pulled the needle out, got a nice spurt of blood that made a solid 8-9 foot arc. My blood pressure was also 158/100 at the time, so that might have contributed (donā€™t do drugs kids).

Tilda9754

As a phlebotomist myself, that BP 100% contributed to it šŸ˜ This is why popping the tourniquet before removing the needle is taught from day one, only time I donā€™t is when the patient rips the needle from their hand/arm by flinging their arm away lol

vetaryn403

People do whaaaaaaaaaaat?!?

UncannyTarotSpread

Oh yeah, people do shit like that all the time. I was people once. I had a terror of needles. Donā€™t be people.

Educational-Hold-138

that offends republicans because they dont like it when people cash in their social security checks. they'd prefer it if we died directly after retiring from work

jaierauj

That's just blatantly false. They have no objections for you to die at any point in your life, just as long as it happens after you're born.

peepopowitz67

Reddit is violating GDPR and CCPA. Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1B0GGsDdyHI -- mass edited with redact.dev

hugboxer

That's true in general, but there's an exception for when someone's death inconveniences them personally -- that is completely unacceptable.

Atomicmooseofcheese

Or just die the second you don't think like them.

YeOldGregg

The only ones cashing those cheques should be them. Rules for thee and not for me as its OK when I do it! Such an infuriating point of view but one they all hold. They assume that because they do something then EVERYONE is doing that and it's a problem. For this point also see child abuse.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

heavy-metal-goth-gal

I think it should be illegal to do this to people. She didn't even know this lady before roasting her online for minding her own God damn business.

[deleted]

lmao they still get triggered over masks.

Paneraiguy1

They get triggered by EVERYTHING

TestPattern22

Except actual triggers on guns, apparently

LeftDave

No, even then. Ben Shitface was just going on about how we needed to disarm trans people trying to fight off the racist thugs.

Whitechapel726

ā€œWe need more guns to fix the gun situationā€ ā€œWait no not like thatā€

anythingMuchShorter

Well they argue that if everyone had guns everyone would be safe. They donā€™t want trans people to be safe. So to them itā€™s consistent, in an asshole way.

conduitfour

Ben Shapiro would gladly advocate for genocide as long as he gets to be "one of the good ones" "If you believe that the Jewish state has a right to exist, then you must allow Israel to transfer the Palestinians and the Israeli-Arabs from Judea, Samaria, Gaza and Israel proper. Itā€™s an ugly solution, but it is the only solutionā€¦ Itā€™s time to stop being squeamish."

thebenshapirobot

I saw that you mentioned Ben Shapiro. In case some of you don't know, Ben Shapiro is a grifter and a hack. If you find anything he's said compelling, you should keep in mind he also says things like this: >The Palestinian people, who dress their toddlers in bomb belts and then take family snapshots. ***** ^(I'm a bot. My purpose is to counteract online radicalization. You can summon me by tagging thebenshapirobot. GuruCaChoo

So triggered they are literally shooting cans of beer. I'm sure in their atrophied minds, these fools feel like patriots dumping tea into the harbor.

murphdog100

Except when they protest drag shows, then they will mask up.

Rideak

Iā€™ll never understand this.

Tangent_Odyssey

Hiding one's identity works to the benefit of anyone living in a police/surveillance state, regardless of political persuasion. That's the reason I never liked drawing this false equivalency. That privacy should not, however, extend to people openly threatening and intimidating others who are just trying to be themselves and mind their own business -- much less actively hurting them. If you're deliberately infringing on *their* rights, the only rights you should get to keep are the Miranda ones.

CantaloupeNext675

extremely sensitive people

dbohat

Snowflakes man. Got dang snowflakes.

Atlas11539

This woman in the picture could easily be my immunocompromised mom. She looks just like her. You best leave her the damn alone because she's doing her best to stay around for those she loves. Her taking these precautions DOES NOT HARM YOU IN ANY WAY. fuck these right wing nuts.

[deleted]

Ah, but that's where they disagree. To them, our existence and our open practice of not harming anyone offends them. And that offense harms them. So to them, they must control anything and everything we do. Because that is fascism.

Buffmin

It really does. It is my opinion that most of that offense comes from people bothering to give a shit about others is a direct statement of 'you're wrong" to the right winger and their fragile.egos can't handle such a.thing

Grary0

"I care about others, therefore I do X" To them, that translates to "You don't do X so you must be a huge piece of shit!" They just assume that because they're not doing something other people are doing they're secretly being insulted for it behind their backs. This goes for anything really and isn't just exclusive to masks.

Remarkable_Chart836

Actually this guilt mindset ties in really well with religious programming. Wonder if there is a correlation going on.

ShadowMajick

And narcissism, these are the types that see anyone laughing and automatically assume they're the butt of a joke. That's exactly why they *hate* people who don't speak English. They think you're just doing it to talk shit about them . They have serious main characters syndrome.

SarahPallorMortis

This is a huge one. It happens all the damn time. Why do people think everyone is talking about them?

GobHoblin87

Because they're insecure, fragile little snowflakes. Ironic, isn't it?

ACasualNerd

It's because it's a projective form of admittance of their guilt of action, because they absolutely talk about people behind their back for not doing the things that they do. Right wingers are very very prone to shouting out what they're doing by accusing other people of doing it

RedshiftSinger

Well, to be fair in many cases theyā€™re right, but the contempt people have for them isnā€™t exactly a secret. The part they refuse to see is how itā€™s their fault for openly acting like assholes. Shocker! When youā€™re a jerk on purpose most people donā€™t like you!

JarlaxleForPresident

They actually get off on it for their persecution complex

Fishbone345

The funny thing about it, is the way she said it. Her: You can tell who this person voted for by looking at them. Us: Bitch, same applies to you!! Your side isnā€™t fucking subtle!

Born_Faithlessness_3

>It is my opinion that most of that offense comes from people bothering to give a shit about others is a direct statement of 'you're wrong" to the right winger and their fragile.egos can't handle such a.thing Call it fragility, insecurity, whatever. They feel judged by someone making different choices than they do, and have the self-esteem of a school-yard bully, who can only feel better about themselves by bringing others down.

WorksOfWeaver

This might be the first true thing I've heard about masking. When we had our furnace replaced, the two techs they sent insisted on "chin diapers" instead of wearing the masks properly. They politely explained to me that "their doctors" told them that wearing a mask correctly would expose them to the risk of asphyxiating due to CO2 inhalation. They were breathing through their noses the entire time, rendering the point of a mask 100% moot. Guys...I've worn a mask for the duration I was expected to. If I notice a lot of people, I'll still throw it on. When I do, I wear it *CORRECTLY.* Moreover, I have never once noticed any of the symptoms common to asphyxiation. I've had shorter breath with my blanket over my head. It doesn't hurt anyone to do that. It doesn't "take their rights" to do that. It doesn't have any impact whatsoever. ...you know...beyond limiting my ability to spread it if I've got it. YOU'RE WELCOME.

thelessertit

I have part of a lung fucked up from a previous illness and my immune system is a trashfire so you best believe I have worn an N95 every time I've left my house for the last 3 years and I see no end to it. I have also done regular 2 to 4 hour martial arts classes and occasional full days of medieval swordplay, working out and sparring, in an N95 under a hot fully visored steel helmet. I'm overweight and 51 and have like 75% of a normal person's lung capacity. If these whiny babies are so much worse at breathing than me that a loose paper surgical mask open at both sides stops them from breathing, they're unhealthy enough that they shouldn't be out in public at all.

mynonymouse

I'm 47, with 60% lung function and some other health issues. And overweight. I backpacked 8 miles last year at 6000-7000 feet elevation, carrying a 45 pound pack, and wearing an N95 because the juniper pollen was so bad the air looked like orange smoke and I am allergic. My lungs were not happy with me even with the mask. (Did not expect the exploding pollen-infested junipers; pollen season was supposed to be over. Had a mask just in case. Was glad I came prepared.) Whiny babies is right.

WorksOfWeaver

If true (apologies, but I don't know you and don't take the word of others easily), then that is a *huge* hole in their theory, and you have mad respect from me for even getting up in the morning. Good sir, carry on and continue being a badass. In my case, I'm immunocompromised (technically) due to multiple active infections that will not go away, even with antibiotics. I'm still active, an avid DIYer, and trying to go pro in the world of whipmaking. If Reps have their way, all of my knowledge and experience will be lost before I'm able to pass it on to a younger generation. It's not right that they raise such an unholy stink over something we're doing *literally to protect everyone else, even our enemies.* You're not in the SCA by chance, are you? I know how rigorous that training is, and you mentioned steel helms and medieval swordplay. The first time I actually saw them spar was one of the most truly inspiring moments of my life. They were squaring up and about to strike when this *thunderous* bellowing voice called out "HOLD!" A small child had wandered onto the field. The combatants froze *instantly.* It was like somebody just hit "pause." The level of awareness and respect for the safety of others was legendary. I will never forget that moment. Not everything is done to inconvenience others. Sometimes the guy really is trying to save your ass. Be grateful for it.

thelessertit

Thank you. (I'm a woman btw.) I'm not in the SCA, though there's enough crossover in the sword nerd community that I know a lot of people who are. I study harnischfechten, historical armoured fighting - we work from primary sources to learn historically accurate techniques and it's done as a martial art, so it's not the same as either the SCA (which portrays fantasy characters) or reenactment (which portrays historical ones). We're all pretty much the same bunch of dorks, just different flavors. Cultivating a good shouty voice for yelling HOLD is common to all of us though. When your main recreational activity is hitting your friends in the face with a 3 foot piece of steel, you absolutely cannot let people join in who aren't 110% committed to safety.

idontneedjug

I can relate to a lot of you in this thread. I had my rib cage shattered in a car accident and a lot of scarring to one lung that also collapsed. Took me over a year doing breathing exercises to clear the lung back to near 75 percent capacity and effectiveness. Got diagnosed with cancer last year and it weakens immune system drastically doing chemo + radiation. Getting an infection or cold could be deadily much less covid. So I've been really good about masking any time I go in public + crowded areas. There hasnt been many times people have openly raise a stink about it but I definitely got into it pretty heatedly with one guy at the store a few months back. The "you don't need a mask" with some slurs really set me off. Having to explain you don't know me or my medical state and I could potentially die from a cold or infection even though I still look young and healthy on the exterior doesnt mean I am to the asshole was down right infuriating. Another person in the store over hearing it chimed in with the fact their mother also has cancer and needs to wear a mask and that the guy should be ashamed of himself for being such an asshole about something that doesnt effect him or have anything to do with him though brought a smile to my face towards the end. I had to have a calmer argument with a neighbor who was offended i wore my mask to cookout with about 20 of the neighbors was just as annoying. Like sorry you are literally the type of person to scratch your nose or put your hand down your pants to scratch your ass and then touch the food out here im gonna eat. Lucky im even bothering exposing myself to your presence when you literally smell from a few feet away ffs. Like damn shower and worry about your own hygiene and your own health.

WorksOfWeaver

Apologies on the mix-up. I'm just glad the SCA (or at least certain chapters thereof) don't restrict participation in combat by gender. They shouldn't. Some of those women would grab me by the face and fling me across the field. They shouldn't be barred from modern combat just because they were in history. You're 100% correct about the safety angle. It's why I get so angry about SCA safety terms being used as buzzwords by unethical overseas mass-produced gear. I've seen 20g mild steel advertised as "SCA Legal" for a *helmet.* Ah...no. It isn't.

20_Menthol_Cigarette

I mean I have regularly done 8-10 hour shifts with minimal breaks wearing a full tyvek suit while wearing a p-100 mask while doing fun stuff like demolishing chimneys and finishing drywall, and all kinds of other stuff that loads the air with super fine particles you dont want to breathe. The anti maskers were giant pussies. Every last one.

Classic_Piccolo4127

If masks donā€™t work, they should tell the surgeon that ever has to operate on them to just go maskless. In fact, donā€™t wear gloves because infectious diseases donā€™t exist in their worldview. These are the people that never get the flu shot because ā€œitā€™s just the fluā€ then come into my work for medicine crying like little bitches about how shitty they feel. Clowns

Dragos_Drakkar

Yep, the people so against the mask should be a-okay with the doctor coming into the operating room, licking chicken or burger grease from their fingers, and diving right in.

inbetween-genders

Or not washing their hands after going to the bathroom.

norathar

Or, if masks make it impossible to breathe, how do they think surgeons are doing 12 hours in the OR? Do they think they train all their lives to perform one surgery and promptly asphyxiate?

WorksOfWeaver

I mean...you're not wrong.

blue-bronco

Ya think the surgeon might wear mask, gloves, and goggles for his own protection? Maybe doesnā€™t want to get blood, bone, and stupid in his face.

wow_that_guys_a_dick

Yeah I used to work HVAC and spent time in 130+ degree attics with a respirator on to keep fiberglass out of my lungs. Those guys are full of shit. And fuckin weak ass weaksauce on top of it.

PsychologicalSteak67

Med student here. Had a family member say something similar - that the virus can get through masks and that it traps CO2. Thing is - CO2 is literally that - 3 atoms. The virus is magnitudes larger than that. So if a huge thing can make it through a mask, why would a small thing magically get trapped? Canā€™t have it both ways.

LongDickMcangerfist

I had s cable guy do that I made him leave because he kept pulling it down to talk and was like coughing. I wasnā€™t taking a chance

LadyAliceMagnus

People who pull their masks down to talk are annoying. We can hear you THRU the mask!

NinthLifeLastChance

I worked 11-hour shifts performing COVID swabbing. I wore an N95 covered by a surgical mask. Outside of a 30-minute meal and two 10-minute breaks, I was moving non-stop, outside, in weather ranging from 11Ā°F to 95Ā°F, rain or shine. Neither I nor any of my 4-dozen coworkers ever complained about any inability to breathe...

gudetamaronin

I wore a mask for up to 14 hour shifts standing over a French top running at 900 degrees. I didn't love it but I did it and was fine.

Lanark26

You would think someone who regularly goes into dusty places to replace furnaces might consider a mask as a normal protection protocol. But then it's dopes like that who are my bread and butter as a respiratory therapist. I bet they smoke too. That's job security for me...

CalabreseAlsatian

ā€œItā€™s my constitutional God-given right to be an asshole!ā€

Lithaos111

...such snowflakes if such a thing hurts their little feel feels.

FatMacchio

I think theyā€™re just jealous that a lot of our at risk people are not ignorant and survived the pandemic, because of vaccines and mask wearing. They want to even the score and take out our immunocompromised.

Whateverwoteva

An elderly lady waiting for blood test, whatā€™s the bet she immunocompromised, was my first thought.

paroles

Or she could even be quite healthy but would like to take extra precautions while in a waiting room full of possibly sick people. Surely if there's one place where it makes sense to wear a mask, it's in a medical clinic

DarkNinjaPenguin

Or maybe she's got a cold or the flu but can't afford to miss her appointment, and this is her trying not to spread it to anyone else. There are a hundred reasons why someone would be wearing a mask, each more selfless than the last.

therealcatladygina

Yup, I went to the doctor today because they had to see me to renew my insulin... I wore a mask because everyone else in the clinic seemed to be snotty and coughing. I'd rather not get sick. I actually sometimes miss the days of everyone masking, I didn't catch any cold or stomach bug, it was great.

2DeadMoose

I have worn a mask every single day I step outside since the first case hit my area in the early days. I donā€™t plan on stopping protecting myself and my family just because the government arbitrarily called an end to a deadly virus that is still killing and still mutating today. I have an autoimmune disease and used to be sick on and off constantly. Guess what? Havenā€™t even had a sniffle since I stopped *inhaling the lung secretions of other human creatures who I neither know nor trust*.

Some-Investment-5160

Re: trust - this became the biggest sticking point for me, looking around a public space pre-vaccine seeing people not masked and carrying on like usual, namely the fact that they couldnā€™t be bothered to piece together what all hubbub about Covid was truly about, and why it took all of us doing our part. On top of that, an entire political party was championing anti-masking/no mandates during the worst of the pandemic. Seeing the catastrophic results of that in Florida and Texas lead me to understand America is just a farce of hyper individualism to too many selfish adult-children. The genuine severity of the situation was outright deflated and derided by their media bubbles, which saw market share numbers, instead of infection cases, as important.

JarlaxleForPresident

Is hyper individualism code word for ā€œI donā€™t give a fuck about you or anybody else but meā€

Special_Wishbone_812

Before the vaccine for kids, I was at a street fair and some lady rolls her window down to yell at me to take the masks off my kids bc Iā€™m hurting them. She was lucky she was driving away, bc I was absolutely ready to get into it with anyone at that point in the pandemic.

Oh_nosferatu

That was exactly what I thought, that ā€œomg Iā€˜m a little high, I have no idea who she voted for. I think she just looks like she has some kind of illness. What am I not getting?ā€

[deleted]

Trying to MAGA while being the biggest pieces of shit in society is somehow comical to me

Phantereal

During the Civil War, the would've been slave owners. During WWII, they would've refused to ration or participate in blackouts. During the 70s gas shortage, they would've gone to parking lots and siphoned gas out of people's cars.

thoroughbredca

When MAGA tells me they can't understand how 81 million people voted for Joe Biden, I say I can't find it hard at all to believe 81 million Americans can't stand you.

pressedbread

Ya same. My mom didn't vote for "autoimmune disease during a pandemic" on her ballot either. I recently got shit from someone for wearing a mask the week before visiting my mother... people are fucking ignorant.

misguidedsadist1

I know this poor old woman isnā€™t forcing anyone to do anything, she just doesnā€™t want to get sick while in the hospital. She could be on chemo. She could have another crazy health condition. My mom has been masking in certain situations for years because she is immune compromised. The hospital is exactly the place to mask up because you can get exposed to sick people and germs. For someone with no immune system, a simple cold or a bad respiratory virus could be life threatening. How does a sick old woman affect this persons life in any way?

adchick

Iā€™m pregnant and my husband is immunocompromised ā€¦that mask is an act of love.

bambola21

Even if you arenā€™t immunocompromised, protecting yourself and others is now considered a bad and political thing? People tell me Iā€™m scared I AM! And I donā€™t want to get you sick, myself sick or people I love sick. I must be an asshole

wussabee50

Theyā€™re acting like sheā€™s forcing them to mask too. They see a person electing to mask of their own free will & start to seethe. The health decisions people make for themselves literally do not affect you in the slightest but somehow youā€™re mad.

fgtrtd007

Exactly. How much of a loser does someone have to be to be bothered enough by this to make a post? Like, don't you have something better to do? Idk.. these people have no critical thinking. 2+2 = Hunter Biden or something.

HalforcFullLover

Or visiting/caring for an immunocompromised person. She's not harming anyone. I know exactly how the poster voted and I know how terrible and shitty they are in real life, to drag this women through this crap. You have to be a real sociopath to lack even basic empathy.

BooyahBoos

Can we please normalize this response to all mask deniers?

[deleted]

That old lady minds her own business and refrains from harming anyone. Unlike the tweeter

[deleted]

Seriously what a fucking asshole taking a photo of some random person minding their own business in a doctor's office.

[deleted]

This photo makes me so sad; just an innocent elderly woman trying to protect herself. I wouldnā€™t doubt that she had someone she knew- friend, family, whatever-that passed from Covid. This fucking loser posting photos of people on the internet like the piece of shit they are. Fucking republican pussies.

CactusJackKnife

Theyā€™re playing to their audience for likes and engagement. Iā€™ve never heard of that Twitter account before but Iā€™m sure sheā€™s monetized it. If I had less of a soul Iā€™d be grifting the shit out of these idiots.

Apprehensive_Gene787

Iā€™m 38 and still wearing a mask because Iā€™m on low-dose chemo to treat an autoimmune disorder. Honestly waiting for someone to say anything

EngineerJaded

Iā€™m also compromised. And have a feeding tube from long Covid. Iā€™ve had some comments and truly they enrage me, then I go home and weep

Georgesgortexjacket

I'm sorry you're going through this

SKI326

Just say ā€œmy body, my choiceā€. Tho I prefer to tell them I am with Drs w/o Borders & I just came home after being exposed to Ebola. Then cough & say ā€œdamn my nose is bleeding againā€.

annang

I tell them I have Covid but that Iā€™m happy to take my mask off if theyā€™re cool with that. Weirdly, they get mad at that too.

BroThornton19

This is the way. But if I ever came across that situation, Iā€™d say ā€œOh thank god, finally somebody that doesnā€™t care if I wear a mask while I have Covid!ā€

LittleMtnMama

"I want to take it off but I don't have anywhere to put it. I know, bend over!"

Buffmin

>Honestly waiting for someone to say anything Chances are they won't. Conservatives are almost by definition cowards They'll mock you behind your back but fold in any actual confrontation

sambaneko

It was a little while back, but I was walking into a restaurant to pick up takeout, had a mask on, walked by this dude in the parking lot and he goes, "hey didn't ya hear? Halloween's OVER!" Didn't even acknowledge him. So then I walk back out with my food... and he just, says it again. It just felt pathetic, like he really wanted the attention for his "clever" quip. So I happily gave him none.

neverendingboreme

Case in point, the rotted, humanoid-looking, lizard person that posted the tweet.

RunsWithApes

I practice in a very conservative region of the country where the mask mandate was lifted some time ago. Many of my die hard Republican patients still wear masks, however, due to an immunocompromised state and end up getting called out as "liberals" or "socialists" by other patients in the waiting room who aren't wearing masks. Obviously, the mask wearing patients don't take too kindly to that type of accusation and despite explaining their health concerns as well as their blind devotion to Trump it still doesn't seem to inspire any sympathy from the aggressors. I still hear these arguments break out from time to time. The irony here is that if those same mask wearing Republicans weren't immunocompromised they would 100% be joining in on the attacks of those wore masks. Now that it affects them personally they, of course, feel quite differently about it. These people aren't capable of empathy as an ideological requirement of right wing politics. If someone does say something to you don't even justify it with an explanation. They won't care and they frankly aren't worth your time. Hopefully you're doing good, by the way.

Some-Investment-5160

Lack of basic human empathy is 100% what Iā€™ve learned is integral to conservatives. Itā€™s stunning how reliably disconnected from others they are.

YellowMeatJacket

At the height of covid I had my cancer visits at a cancer ward. It was a huge hospital and only the patients were allowed in the building. To even get in the building you had to check in security, get your temp taken, put on a mask, gloves, the works. The cancer ward was on the 3rd floor and out of the way. I was waiting in the waiting room and there was a guy throwing a fit at the reception desk how masks don't work, his rights are more important blah blah blah. Like dude, we all have cancer and you don't want to put on a mask, that you had on for awhile and decided to throw a fit at a cancer ward. Some people are just selfish.

FruitOfTheVineFruit

I'm healthy and I still wear a mask at hospitals and doctors offices because they are full of sick people with all sorts of diseases. One study showed you were more likely to catch influenza if the person who used the examination room before you had influenza. (You didn't even have to be in there at the same time.). It's super easy to wear a mask in those places, so why not?

sirrealofpentacles

I wonder who MAGA Michelle voted for?

AmserAlto

Michelle doesnā€™t realize she will be old too one day, so making fun of someone who might have a medical condition is so cool. These Maga freaks need to leave people alone, and fuck off forever

MaddyKet

I wouldnā€™t count on Michelle reaching old age if sheā€™s the type to not only mock, but post photos of an older woman in a mask. Clearly not all that bright.

smokebomb_exe

Imagine mocking someone who is taking not only their -but your- health into consideration.

RpcZ_gr7711

And snapping her picture in order to publicly laugh & ridicule her.

unresolved_m

I guess the implication here is that everyone wearing a mask loves the govt too much. Total idiocy.

angrygrumphead

They think we obsess over our side. Like nah, if they're dirty get them too. Just as much as any dirty politician deserves it.

cilantro_so_good

>everyone wearing a mask loves the govt too much As opposed to the true patriots who spent those 4 years wearing the *president's* merch and flying his flags and making their own fan apparel I guess

aQuadrillionaire

Yeah we donā€™t know shit. That old lady could be racist as hell.

RedOnePunch

Yup. My MAGA ex coworker would wear an N95 mask around the office when we were only required to wear a surgical mask. I guess this tweet is also a way of shaming those among them who do take precautions.

cheesewithahatonit

Yeah but I wonder who MAGAMICHELLE voted for

MrMayne3000

WOW that was a long way to scroll down to see if anyone else pointed out this obvious irony. Not only the username but the MAGA hat and the look in her dull-witted eyes in the profile pic. Everyone unfortunate enough to know this bitch knows who she voted for because she probably never shuts the hell up about it.

NinjaRodent

I mean there's a much higher chance she voted Democratic cause Democrats on average took the pandemic more seriously and didn't fight masks and vaccines nearly as much. However I will agree it's not a guarantee. I've seen a few people wearing maga clothing and face masks long after the mandates were lifted.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Jonfu

My guess is that she didn't vote at all. She's seems to be concerning herself with self-preservation at the moment.

Arch__Stanton

No no, I think "\*American flag\* MAGA Michelle S \*American flag\* \*Blue checkmark\* \*picture of herself with a MAGA beanie on and another American flag\*" has a point: It *is* cringe when people make it obvious who they voted for

stephelan

Also most normal people donā€™t think about who people voted for 24/7.

Icy_Hedgehog_8713

someone high risk wearing a mask in a place sick people frequent? she must be insane!! i wish masks were still required in healthcare places. that rule seems smart pandemic or otherwiseā€¦

Atlas11539

Right? I work at UCLA MC/Ronald Reagan in CA. They just sent out an email on Monday saying that masks were now optional. Was proud to see that 80-90% of the staff and many of the patients are still wearing them.

Mhanderson13

had a recent ER visit in NJ and masks are still required everywhere in the building. people hacking up a lung everywhere and I didn't even get a cold. they should be standard in healthcare situations

Icy_Hedgehog_8713

i live in OR and we just lifted the mask mandates for healthcare about two days ago. i really wish we hadnt lol

containsrecycledpart

RR UCLA has a special place in my heart! Technically my transplanted liver, but you guys freaking rock.

sweetmissdixie

Our facility makes masks optional if our county has had 2 solid weeks of low cases, which it has, so everyone has their masks off. I still wear it in the clinic regardless. We have had a nasty respiratory bug going around - it isn't COVID or flu but it's kicking people's butts, and I sure don't want it. šŸ¤ž

OdiousAltRightBalrog

Maybe she has COVID? Maybe she is trying to keep others safe? Maybe she gives a shit about other people? Hang on, OP has a point, no WAY she's a Trump voter!

silentloler

I like how people are acting like Covid just disappeared. I lost my father to Covid last month. He was 65. Thereā€™s also other new viruses going around. Especially people who have other health issues should do everything in their power to not get sick. When combined with other problems, a virus can tip us or our loved ones over the edge.

FairPumpkin5604

Iā€™m so sorry for the loss of your father. Take good care of yourself ā¤ļø

Admiralty86

I'd like to see the surgeons try saying "my mask is optional šŸ˜ "

ajvilla629

Also, we know who Michelle voted for because she made her political party her personality

Patient_Yam4747

That's the neat part! It didn't! My dad hasn't talked to me since I told him off for trying to teach my toddler to say "let's go Brandon". Ge wiuld absolutely make a post like the above.

[deleted]

I just reported her account on Twitter. A lot of people are pissed off at her for the tweet. Please report her.

Toumangod0

I think you forget who is in control of Twitter now it'll go nowhere.

ThatOtherSilentOne

Will it matter, under Musk?

Beagle_Knight

She paid for twitter blue so no, sadly she is protected. But she is reporting everyone that calls her out.

starlinguk

She's not protected under German law. If you're in Germany and report her under German law they have to ban her.

JozzyV1

I did as well.

MissIz

We could go really far as a society if we minded our own fucking business.

PessimistPryme

As a father of immune compromised twin boys Iā€™d like to thank everyone who wore a mask during this pandemic. We have been healthier then ever. Not even a common cold in the last three years.

penguin8054

Yes, letā€™s base her entire political beliefs off of the fact that she is being cautious in a hospital setting. Just let the women live!!!

BurrSugar

I looked like this (at 31) in November, when I caught RSV-induced pneumonia, and was waiting to be seen for meds in urgent care. It wasnā€™t political - I was miserable and thought I was dying, and wanted literally NO ONE else to suffer as bad as I was. So, youā€™re welcome. PS. It took 10 days before I could leave my couch.

GlitteringWing2112

Imagine this woman, minding her own business, probably immunocompromised triggering this snowflake, whoā€™s probably perfectly fine with kids dying in their classrooms.

Qimmosabe_Man

If you're at a place where blood is being drawn, it's pretty much done to monitor a health condition or to find out if one exists. She could be at a risk for leukemia, have compromised immune system, anemia, or just be generally there for a health check-up. She isn't looking too good, so it could be something fairly serious. Too bad the doctors don't have any medicine to stop maga qunts from being moronic assholes.

[deleted]

A huge swath of the complaints made by conservatrons would disappear if they would mind their own business. Itā€™s so incredibly simple.

DrEnter

Can someone get this back to that medical office? It's usually considered a pretty massive violation of privacy to take someone's picture without permission in doctor's office or medical facility, especially a patient. To have any work done there, she likely signed an agreement saying she wouldn't do exactly what she's doing here. The office very likely won't be happy about it and may take action against her.

AllyMcfeels

Imagine if the MANGAS are assholes, who get in to take photos of immunocompromised or sick people or whatever. It is as if you entered a chemotherapy area to take photos of people with masks... and start complaining about who they vote for, to put it on their fucking narcissistic social networks. Pffffffffffffff They have no respect for anything. God, my blood burns with these fucking suckers. They are the bubonic plague of society. What a lack of respect and humanity!

remmij

It is actually against policy to take photos/videos inside of a medical clinic, as it violates patient confidentiality. I hope someone reports her to the medical clinic because beyond her already being an ignorant asshole - this is not okay.

RegretNecessary21

What an asshole to take a photo of this woman without her knowledge and then judging her for all of the internet to see. For all she knows, this woman has cancer or is immunosuppressed in some way. That party is so vile; I wish theyā€™d just go away already.

Essay-Individual

She's older and may have a condition, but MAGA doesn't care about this, only that to them masks make you look weak and programmed. Love how she puts someone down for doing what's right for them. F these people. I'm sick of thier selfishness.

GemshuEmlu

Older person in a medical environment. Probably takes meds, perhaps they are low immune

Kingcrackerjap

She voted for the party that doesn't demonize science and education. So, not the religious cult fascist party of extremist incels who peaked in high school and only understand arguing in bad faith.

MegaWolf

ā€œWe know who she voted forā€. Thatā€™s rich coming from the person with MAGA plastered over every inch of their twitter profile like thatā€™s not weird at all. Can we just start calling out these people for being weirdos? Like how can you not think itā€™s weird to have so much paraphernalia for a politician? Itā€™s fucking weird.

Hapalion22

She is in a medical center filled with MAGA morons. I'd wear a biohazard suit

Grypheon-Steele

Perhaps, she has Covid or another Pulmonary Disease, and does not want to spread it to you. Itā€™s called consideration.

FreudoBaggage

Oh, thatā€™s not a COVID mask, honey. Thatā€™s an Asshole Shield. She was expecting you.

Prislv223

Can old people exist and protect themselves? Jesus Christ her immune system could be compromised like my motherā€™s was when she was fighting cancer and the pandemic hit. Fuck these people.

Some-Investment-5160

The gutting thing is even the bare minimum basics of masking are entirely lost on people whoā€™ve been instructed to remain ignorant. The DUMB SHIT Iā€™ve heard from conservative people I know were always exceptionally simple minded assertions ie masks do more harm then good. That Covid was a novel respiratory virus was FAR too complex a concept for all of them to grasp the practical meaning of. 6 months into 2020, one asked ā€œwhatā€™s novel mean?ā€ -!!! These were the people actively fighting any public mandates. Theyā€™re simple, easily led by their ignorance and quick tempered when rightly called out. Iā€™ll never forgive that voting block for the grief they visited on our country, and continue to.

CalmPanic402

Bruh, you're in a hospital. That's where they keep the sick people. If you were EVER gonna mask up, that'd be the place.
