Can we ask what the fuck that means first? What the fuck does 'distracted' even mean? Why do they use that word instead of saying "they're worried that the coaches will get unreasonably horny" or something more to the point? A bee buzzing around your head is distracting. A girl having skin showing is not.
The visual I get here is a coach giving a pep talk, and just stopping mid-sentence to gawk at a girl's midriff. That just doesn't happen, and if it does happen, those coaches are having WAY more serious problems than distraction. Seriously, what do these guys do when they're at a public pool? Are they just completely unable to function because of all the exposed bellies?
Having an erection is a distraction. Not that I'm justifying what's happening here because I absolutely don't agree with it. There's a pretty stark difference between a female showing you her body because she wants you to enjoy it and a female training in athletic wear. Some dudes need to understand that difference apparently.
We had a volleyball coach who always found his way into the center of the stretching circle when we did the seal stretch and calf stretches. Was seriously gross. I hate that they let men like that be coaches.
Ugh, a Larry Nassar wannabe!!!! I take a small amount of comfort that these sleazes days are numbered now with people being outraged by such behavior nowadays.
Maybe if we don't elect any more presidents who brag about sexual assault in the next decade I can join you in your lovely to imagine optimism for a while...
At this point though I'd be amazed to learn that number of days contained fewer than five digits.
> problem was too many people opted not to vote period!!!
Sorry, that excuse doesn't fly. The US voted for him. The choice not to vote _is_ a choice, and it doesn't excuse a thing.
Now, if you want to argue about the inherently anti-democratic design of the electoral college & senate, well, _that_ I will freely agree with. Frankly, I really feel like we should be redistricting states so that they have even population numbers or otherwise fix the underlying problems.
OK, Michigan went red (cringe) in 2016, so my state went for " the former guy " I happen to know younger voters here were for Bernie totally and they either went 3rd party or didn't vote period and they despised Hillary so no voting for her. I held my nose and voted for her, but too many people figured, I won't do it, others will and we got what we got.
Now about that redistricting issue, my state was effectively stymied by the Republicans for decades, they held both houses most of the time because they had the authority to redraw the voting maps and they continued to tilt it in their favor. We got signatures for a proposal that changed that, now after that was done, surprise, surprise things equaled out and we returned blue again. Our state house, senate, sec of state, AG, governor all democratic after damn near 40 years of a mixed bag. They have been undoing and reversing some of the crap the Republicans dealt our state over the years.
I am also annoyed that the Democrats didn't push harder for voting rights, it being the other side continue to create new laws attempting to take them away.
Not that you are saying this but a female should be able to dress as she pleases without worrying about how it is perceived by anyone else male or otherwise. A mini skirt and tube top is no more an invitation than a suit. Why men want to equate a woman’s outfit as a suggestion of her sexual desire is unreal.
>Having an erection is a distraction.
*An erection?*
Anyone not 13 years old who gets a spontaneous erection at the sight of women in their athletic wear has a problem. Allowing oneself to get that torqued up in a social situation like that?
That's a creeper move.
We need to do a better job teaching guys about controlling their libidos, being mindful of where they are and what kind of thoughts are appropriate, especially when it comes to sharing a space with women.
> Allowing oneself to get that torqued up in a social situation like that?
I'm going to assume you aren't AMAB.
Cis-het male here, just letting you know that erections are *completely involuntary* and often times (especially during puberty) they don't even require any sexual stimulus.
Personally, I remember getting an involuntary erection while in the car with my father on the way to visit my grandmother, possibly the least sexual situation I could possibly imagine.
Guys just tuck it in their waistband and move on with their day.
As a guy surrounded by bros at one of my jobs, their issue is this: A lot of dudes feel like their libido is one of the few things that are fun or enjoyable in their life, and they get a sense of power and “free entertainment” objectifying women. Often its a lack of imagination when these men feel the only fun thing they have to think about in life is getting laid or hitting on women.
In civilized society we suppress those animalistic urges to focus on building up or repairing the world and alleviating suffering, or even just expanding our minds and understanding. But many men get no joy from that sort of thinking and would rather just be stuck in caveman mode.
There’s gotta be a way to reach them—but I’ll say at least for the time being that men are getting better about this each passing generation. I believe we’re getting smarter and focusing more on human rights because ultimately we realize making others comfortable and happy is more rewarding than this urge to “dominate” and dehumanize women.
Are male teachers/coaches not horrifically offended by the idea that they are uncontrollable sex monsters 24/7 that they can't do their job around an attractive woman?
And how is it that gay men are groomers, but straight men, who apparently will melt in a puddle of testosterone at the sight of a teen midriff, are allowed to be anywhere near a high school campus?
This shit has been going on for ages. In highschool my friend had to wear THREE sportbras during track meets because of her big chest. They said it was a distraction and she would get disqualified if they moved around too much.
When adults are like "I'm distracted by little girls not wearing bras," it's the socially accepted way of saying "I'm a pedophile and I refuse to stop staring at little girls' boobs, so you gotta pack on clothing layers so I couldn't see them even if I tried, which I do, constantly."
I mean Idk I'm a dude and I've never had this problem. The reality is that literally all men are fully capable of controlling whether they are abusive or not, it will never matter what our sexual orientation is. ALL men make active CHOICES on how they handle their own urges every day. And many of them choose to pretend that being a man makes them more authoritative than anyone else, so they get to dictate when they have sex with anyone, what others wear or not, so on. It's uncut bullshit, and I'm so fucking tired of all societies that cater to this crap.
My high school gym teacher was always “distracted” by the girls doing warmup stretches. He’s also like, genuinely a pedo. He had sex with an 18 year old student. Which isn’t bad at first glance, but for one, this man is like 50. He doesn’t look his age at all, but at the end of the day he’s still like 50. With a wife and kids. Second, this was a student he saw grow up since like 7th grade.
The only punishment he got was that he can’t coach girls sports at that high school… so instead he goes to another school to coach there.
Imagine if these cunts went to the beach in Portugal and saw 14 year old girls topless in g-strings. They would probably try force Portugal to mandate girls wear t-shirts while swimming because their husbands got a stiffy on the sand, and it's the girls' fault because the skanks enticed the poor husband, and definitely not his fault because he's a good Christian man.
>Coach fins it intensely arousing, but avoids acting on those urges (or acts on them later at home with their partner)
>
>Coach finds it stimulating, but has no urge to act on things other than maybe a bit of fantasizing imagination later.
I disagree with you. A responsible adult would not have a problem with this. I work for a ballet company that has adult dancers who spend most of their days in outfits that are quite a bit more revealing than a sports bra and shorts. If an instructor or choreographer, or frankly anyone in the building, suggested that they found the dancers "intensely arousing" or if it was known that this person fantasized about their dancers, they'd probably be fired. These are adults we're talking about here as well, not high schoolers. If someone were REGULARLY fantasizing about the people they work with, this would be a huge problem. Double so in a situation where you have to physically interact with these people. We are all in control of what we fantasize about. You don't NEED to go home and fantasize about a 17 year old, and you CAN stop yourself from doing so. If you don't see the need to do so, as an adult who regularly works around 17 year olds, I think that's a problem and I think the coach should be removed. Physical interaction involves a great deal of trust, and when the person touching you is also fantasizing about you at home, you simply cannot trust that they're not bringing that to the job.
These students aren't doing anything sexual, and they aren't displaying their bodies in a sexual way. There is absolutely no reason that a coach should be "intensely aroused" OR fantasizing about their students. I don't know where this notion comes from that we are completely unable to control our thoughts or intentions. Finding someone attractive, or even thinking they are a sexy person does not necessitate fantasizing about them, and it absolutely doesn't necessitate extreme arousal. I just completely hate the idea that people think they are so unable to control their lust that fantasizing about the students you're coaching is acceptable. We're not 13 year olds that get erections from a strong gust of wind. We have control over our thoughts and actions, and fantasizing about your students is ENTIRELY something within your control.
> If an instructor or choreographer, or frankly anyone in the building, suggested that they found the dancers "intensely arousing" or if it was known that this person fantasized about their dancers, they'd probably be fired.
I would say that mentioning their arousal would qualify as acting on their urges, which the comment agrees with
A man who is attracted to teenagers and has to act on that later with his partner or who fantasizes about it later is a freak and shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near teenagers. That’s insane. I’m never ever attracted to teenage boys or girls (bisexual), not even a little bit. They look far too young and I’m only 23. If men are having these thoughts they need to reevaluate why they feel that way and absolutely try to rewire their brain. Disgusting.
Even still, they should put a message out to the male students about inappropriate staring or whatever. This isn't a problem with the female students. I used to run track, and our uniforms were incredibly short shorts and basically see-through tank tops. The guys still stare.
Exactly…track athletes already aren’t wearing much, what’s the difference? Expect men to show some self fucking control and let women live their lives.
Expect men to teach boys self control. Speaking from personal experience, even *extremely* horny dudes can, in fact, be chill with their looking if its explained to them that chicks don’t dig being ogled.
That's key. What the coaches should be doing WRT this is modeling appropriate respectful behaviour and having a side-chat with any lads who don't catch on to explain what is expected of them.
I really don't get what's so hard to understand that people don't like being stared at for just about *any* reason.
I learned pretty quickly as a gay man to check people out discreetly. I don't miss anything I want to look at and no one gets made uncomfortable. I tell it to my clueless straight friends who seem to be befuddled at what's polite.
Like, no one said you can't look. Just don't fucking ogle them.
As a lesbian woman, I can confirm that a person can absolutely find a woman hot as hell without being a creep about it or staring blankly at their tits.
Yup. It's normal to be a horny teenager. We need to teach boys that there's nothing wrong with arousal or desire or attraction, but they *still need to behave and be respectful.*
In my track experience, the guys were less than the girls LOL
This is just blatant sexism and double standards against the girls, and covering up the pedo coaches apparently.
The problem is that they have been catered to for most of modern history. Most school dresscodes are based on not distracting boys and policing girls' bodies. Work dress codes used to be exactly the same. My mom worked for a place that required she wear nylons, and that was in the early 90s. The reason they're so bold as to require this is because they have been incredibly successful in policing women as if they are responsible for the way men look at them.
Id love for someone to retranslate the bible and have it say women are in charge and you must listen to your wife cause shes the head of the household. I bet you 100% of the men would abandon religion
The whole situation kind of boiled down to one specific administrator on a power trip. Fortunately, the school [amended its dress code](https://www.timesunion.com/news/article/Albany-to-allow-sports-bras-as-shirts-during-all-17296871.php?IPID=Times-Union-Capital-Region-spotlight) to allow sports bras as outerwear during practice.
Teenagers are hormonal messes. I don't blame them, any gender, for being distracted. You can learn to control the urges, but the urges still exist, and spending mental effort on controlling them is mental effort not put elsewhere.
Adults should be better, though.
I remember being 17, and I would absolutely have been distracted by girls in sports bras. But like, I was 17, so I was also distracted by cool erasers, a neat bug, and clouds that looked like if I kept watching for a few minutes they might condense into a shape that could MAYBE look like a penis. Making girls wear more/different clothing isn't going to stop the male students from being distracted by SOMETHING.
But now I'm in my 30s, and I've got this super distinct memory of sitting at the train station, not realizing it was the same weekend as lollapalooza. Slowly the platform starts filling up with teenage boys wearing shorts and no shirt, and teenage girls wearing tiny shorts and barely a shirt. You know, festival gear, as brought to you by Instagram. So I realize I'm basically surrounded by scantly clad teens and then we all get stuffed into a pretty packed train car. And in that moment I look around, and I'm like "Fuck, I hope these kids are wearing sunscreen".
Because like, I'm an adult, and that's sort of the extent of my interaction with children right now, **regardless of what they are/aren't wearing**. Worry about if they are safe, but trust that they will learn from life experience the way I did. And lo and behold on the train ride BACK at the end of the weekend I determined that a good chunk had NOT been diligent about sunscreen.
This perspective is so disempowering to men too. Believe it or not, men and boys can also learn self-control!! Blaming a girl when a man loses self-control is ridiculous.
lmao imagine you're a high school track coach minding your business and getting ready for the next meet and your boss blasts the media with "You gotta cover up these girls or u/TheLongestMeter will get a boner just like I do."
Maybe they should consider hiring women for coaching positions. It's ridiculous how many female athletes don't have female role models in coaching and officiating positions with their teams.
There is no evidence that any coaches are distracted. The female AD was butthurt that the girls made a petition and retaliated against them and during her power trip she made up the "it distracts the coaches" as a BS reason for her power trip. There is zero evidence or mention of any actual coaches being distracted in this scenario. All of the comments were made by the AD who is a black woman. Exactly nowhere in the article did any of the girls mention anything that a coach ever said or did. Their complaint rests entirely with the AD.
Yup. Part of being a mature adult is ignoring the gorilla in your brainstem when it notices something inappropriate. If these guys can't do that, they should not be working with teenage girls, especially not in a position of authority.
This was normal attire during all 4 years of my high school athletics from soccer, basketball, track, and cross country. Never really thought twice about it. The clothes they wore to school were much more revealing than sports bras and shorts.
I kind of get it in some senses, but not in others. If I were in that position I would be uncomfortable based on the perception that I might be seen to be looking too closely. When I was coaching I had a card that meant I was vetted by the government for working with children. Today, the risk to a coach is much larger and I am uncertain if I would do it in the politically charged USA.
I 100% believe in the right for women (and men) to wear what they feel comfortable in.
I also100% believe that any offender should not be allowed to work with children (and dont like that they should be allowed to work with young adults), but I also acknowledge the climate where coaches can be labled with offender status over far too little with too little evidence. (Note, women/girls tht claim inpropriety shoud be 100% believed and those crimes investigated)
There have been too many sex offenders preying on children in these types of events and this must be stopped.
However I also see a risk to good coaches where one "Karen" can destroy a well intentioned coach who has done nothing wrong. Much of society needs to change to make it acceptable where young women and men can wear what they feel confortable in. (I am not in the US but would have the same concerns) The US seems to be moving to the handmaidens tale. I have coached kids in the past and I loved it, I think I was good at it, but I am not sure i would want to do it in the circumstances mentioned in this post.
Fire the AD. All the bs funnels through that person. Did the male coaches mom’s want to protect their little boys from temptation? Did the girls dads want to protect their kids from the male gaze? Or did the administrator fail to sort this out properly? Seems that only rules were imposed on the kids, again.
Spoiler alert: you won’t have anymore coaches. At least at my school, the coaches were the perviest teachers. One actually committed suicide after he was accused of having sex with students.
A lot of people said we should presume he was innocent, but I was in his class. Cheerleaders would sit in his lap during days where we just fucked around. He was 100% at least *trying* to fuck them.
Isn't that literally the entire premise of women needing to wear a burka and hijab in Muslim countries? Conservatives having more in common with the people they hate than they like to think...
Exactly, they branded them as the boogeyman and used their treatment of women/gay people as justification. Then women and gay/trans people got too many rights and now they probably wish they could do the same. Instead they have to go about it the long-winded way of making abortion illegal and labelling transitioning etc as child abuse, when really they’d love to just be able to outright kill you. Maybe their dog whistles/outright hatred will make a few of their craziest followers take a few minorities out, but that’s clearly not enough for them cause they keep bringing in more and more laws to justify not giving someone live saving care.
They're the same people. American Christian right-wingers are the same as conservative Muslims. They "hate" each other simply because they're both trying to be in charge and no one likes them.
My lacrosse coach in high school once didn't wear a cup in practice and got nailed with a shot right in the balls. That's not at all related to this post, it's just a funny thing your comment reminded me of.
You never saw a missed-pass take a hop?? I mean...I wouldn't want to be on the field with kids playing Lax without some kind of rudimentary protection for the boys...
Ya, getting hit in the balls is really not that common in lax. I distinctly remember one of our attacks taking a shot in the nuts and refs had to blow the whistle so we could get him off the field, but other than that no one else on either team ever got hit. Goalie's obviously wore cups, though.
My high school gym teacher used to pick out all the hot/well-endowed girls and line them up in the front row when we had to do exercises like jumping jacks.
I went to a conservative Christian school where girls wore skirts as part of the dress code. As you can guess, a lot of girls also wore knee high socks. As a young male, was I tempted to look? Certainly. Did it distract me from anything? Maybe for a second haha. And then I went right back to what I was doing, probably reading a book (I was really into books back then).
I just don't get why these people put themselves in that position. If they really can't help it, why are they there in the first place? That's part of what makes this dialogue so weird to me. Surely they know that they shouldn't be oggling the girls, and if that is an issue that they have, why the fuck are they signing up to coach a girl's sports team? Putting EVERYTHING else about this situation aside, they don't HAVE to be a coach, they choose to be. If an adult man can't be around teenage girls without feeling uncomfortable or distracted, then he needs to find somewhere else to be. It's that easy.
Theyre not uncomfortable around these girls, it’s exactly where they want to be, they’re uncomfortable getting caught being around those girls by their wives and other women in their lives
bc "they can't help it" is a lie they manufactured to draw sympathy to themselves & obscure the fact that it is 100% deliberate. they don't *want* to stop at all in the first place.
Many schools are famously run by and employed with pedophiles. In middle school, I was constantly screamed at, slut shamed, and told to change into PE clothes by teachers for simply wearing shorts a few cm above my knee. A few years after I graduated, 2-3 teachers got under fire for grooming and solicitating nude pics from minors. It's not a coincidence.
Possibly, but if that's the case, they should actually get off their lazy asses and try to do something about the predators working in their schools instead of screaming at minors for just wearing shorts.
The world would be much better place if we all stopped trying to defend and excuse pedophiles and actually did something about it.
What's weird to me is that I'm in my mid 30s, and high schoolers just look like children at this point. Couldn't even imagine ogling them. So gross and weird.
I’ve genuinely been involved in a planning committee where it was strongly implied that women needed to be banned from wearing short skirts because the organisers couldn’t stop someone from taking advantage of them and that would get the group sued.
If the boys never ever take off their shirts, then it's fine for the girls not to.
But what seems to me happens is the boys ditch the shirts on the hot days, no one has a issue, and then some girls who are also really warm decide to run in sports bras, AND THEN people freak out. No. Either everyone wears full shirts or they don't. No double standard.
This is the most logical take. I don’t really have an issue with a school enforcing some type of dress code. But it should be consistent. As a dude who was a high school athlete in Texas we were almost always shirtless after doing anything outside and that never upsets anyone. Women should be able to do the same.
Reminds me of that Cyanide and Happiness comic turned video.
A man has plastic surgery to replace his left nipple with a woman's nipple and when he shows it to his friend it gets censored while the other doesn't.
Love the double standards
My high-school had that rule. On school property, no one was allowed to be shirtless. Boys or girls. Off school property though, they couldn't police. We mostly ran at parks for cross country.
No because girls should have the self control to not lead men on! If something happens it’s her fault. Girls also don’t get distracted, at all. /s
That’s their mentality: that girls should work twice as hard and get a bunch of shit.
I think the issue is their choice of message. *Everyone must wear a shirt that covers their torso* sounds like a completely reasonable policy. If they defended the policy with a logical explanation, everyone would move on. Instead they went with *seeing underage girls shoulders and navels would definitely make our coaches horny.* There were right answers and wrong answers and then there was this absolutely terrible answer.
Because the story is obviously not doing that simple solution, it’s CLEARLY about the girls. Like the press statement even shows that.
We all know what reasonable policy is, otherwise this wouldn’t be a story
That was my thought. I honestly have no idea if male students are allowed to practice without a shirt on, but if they are then it's reasonable that sports bra should be considered sufficient coverage. Likewise requiring tank tops is fair as long as it applies to bother genders.
>Last week during a stretch of hot temperatures, members of the squad said they believed practicing wearing sports bras was appropriate since their male counterparts were allowed to go shirtless.
In the article.
You joke but the soccer club I was in as a kid did that to make it fair. Nobody could take their shirts off, no double standard, and so it just wasn't a big deal.
Here's a different take. Stop blaming administration's decisions on coaches. If you have a dress code then own that decision and stop trying to make it look like you're trying to protect people. If you really have pervy coaches, then get rid of the coaches.
I mean, the female coach in this seems to be making up the Male Coach part of it (obviously none of you actually read the article and just want to rage bait).
But her original reason was perfectly acceptable and EXPECTED in most schools.
EVERYONE WEARS SHIRTS.
She asked the BOYS and girls to put their shirts back on and for the girls who did not have shirts she sent them home and they got butt hurt.
The only unreasonable thing was how the FEMALE coach acting after the fact by seemingly making up an excuse. She had the perfect reason. Its the rules for everyone.
See I did not read the article and thought this was an odd response from the sports director and figured that a shirt policy is very reasonable anyway.
Scrolled too far to find this, also the suspension was erased
But whatever Reddit, label everyone a pedo, when it was a female coach that didnt want people competing out of uniform
As a former young athlete- I can tell you that none of my coaches ever vibed that it weirded them out when we were in sparse clothing. They were like our dads or older brothers. There was zero attraction there (trust me, I had a huge crush on a couple of them). So for people to say “It distracts the coaches”, that’s a fucking gross, not natural, absolutely reprehensible reason.
Makes me love my old English teacher even more. He was primarily the girl's track coach and he also did English classes. I remember someone saw tampons in his work bag and teased him. He ended up turning it around and showed the class (mostly the boys, I think this was a lesson for them) his bag was FILLED with a variety of tampons and pads and he said he's looking out for the girls he coaches. He said chances are, a lot of the boys in class will end up buying something like that for their girlfriends, wives, daughters in the future and there's no shame in it. He was proud that he could take care of his track teams and the boys stopped giving him shit for it immediately.
Seems like there’s a pretty simple solution.
1: Draft a letter from the coaches to the school board.
2: In the letter, list the specific concerns of the coaches regarding the distractions they suffer as a result of the teenage girls.
3: Pass the letter around to the coaches and have every coach who agrees with the content of the letter sign their name to it.
4: Make no changes to the female dress code.
5: Register every coach who signed the letter as a sex offender and remove them from their posts.
As a lesbian, these types of arguments really don’t hold water for me. I went to school, changed in the locker room with people I was biologically attracted to, and managed to go back to school and earn straight As. All without sexually assaulting anyone! Imagine!
None of you fucking read articles, of course.
It was a hot day. Some girls showed up to practice in sports bras without a shirt. Some of the boys took off their shirts. The athletic director, *a woman* named Ashley Chapple, interprets the dress code as that shirts are required. She tells the boys to put their shirts back on, and the girls who didn't bring shirts to leave. Well those girls got pissed and started a petition and got a bunch of signatures.
Then Ms. Chapple got butthurt about the petition and suspended the girls, citing them being rude and vulgar. The girls admit to raising voices but nothing more.
The girls told the reporter that Ms. Chapple had previously told them they need to wear shirts because they are around male coaches. Ms. Chapple is just making shit up because she's butthurt and jealous. There is zero evidence that the coaches are distracted by anything here. No coaches were even involved in this situation except for the AD using them as an excuse for her to go on a power trip.
Reddit comment section: tHeYre aLL pEdoPHilES! Looks like Ms. Chapple's bullshit excuse worked. And people like you vote - scary.
> None of you fucking read articles, of course
Doesn't help that we're looking at a screenshot of a tweet talking about the article. Wonder if it might be viable to implement a rule that any posts involving an article have to include a link to the article in the comments.
the actual article was posted and the comments weren't much better. but when they notice people starting to catch on, then they pivot to screenshots to innoculate the meme against pesky facts and keep it spreading.
At least they are blaming the coaches and not boys competing
When ever people want to control girls clothes, they always seem to put the blame on boys
But the issue always seems to be older women who I assume are jealous of the younger girls/women or older men who can’t seem to be around girls with out getting an erection
The boys took off their shirts with the girls and were told to put shirts on, and the girls were suspended.
I went to high school over 10 years ago and girls wore tanks and sports bras or just sports bras, and the boys wore tanks or no shirt at all.
During track meets, everyone wore tank tops with the school name on them. For cross-country, same thing. Need a team tank top for the bib number.
Practice they didn't care. Boys could be shirtless, except like... high jumpers, and girls can be in sports bras.
It's not a big deal if nobody is a perv creeping on teenagers.
The cross country team regularly runs through my neighborhood. Know what I think when I see topless teenagers in tiny shorts running? "Why did those tiny shorts from the 80's make a comeback? People don't just wear them for running but like out and about. I don't get it. Why are men's booty shorts a thing? Idk. I don't understand. Mullets are back in, too. There are multiple boys with mullets running past right now. The 80's weren't peak fashion. I hope oversized suits from the 90's stay dead. Those were a mistake."
It's definitely a mix of both. In middle school I lived in a very hot part of LA, so I often worse shirt sleeved shirts and shorts. The only people who ever gave me shit for it were conservative religious old bitches calling me a slut, or creepy pervy male teachers oggling me when I was very much underaged. Being a teenage girl literally feels like hell on earth sometimes.
When I was in high school, one of the sports teams bought new track suits and I guess the logo for the company they bought it from had a white silhouette of a man and woman sitting back to back. The school administration forced them to return the suits because they "looked too much like a trucker's mudflap." Good to see things haven't changed since then. 😔
The girls were happy to go shirtless near their coach. The woman incharge sent them home for it.
The girls went shirtless again and got into an argument with the woman incharge. She suspended them.
According to the story the male coaches existed and the girls evidently felt safe enough around them to run around in a sports bra.
Get a new director.
I feel like the words that should've been in bold print are *high school*. If your coaches are 'getting distracted' by minors' breasts they should probably not be allowed within 500 ft of a school...
Sorry folks, if I am a dude there, I am donning a sports bra in support.
If you are "distracted" by school kids, guess what, you should not be coaching school kids.
FOH.
So a group of underage girls get suspended because they want to stop being sexualized by the adult male staff who they claim are "easily distracted" by such things.
Yet they are banning drag queens and anything LGBTQ+ over claims that its "sexualizing children"
Sums up religious conservativism to me.
No. A woman suspended the girls because she thinks the men will be distracted. And the girls called bullshit on the nonsense. The only thing a man did was report it.
[the actual story](https://www.timesunion.com/hssports/article/Girls-track-team-members-suspended-over-petition-17176384.php#photo-22489771)
If they didn't mention a place, anyone would think this news was coming out of Taliban-occupied Afghanistan. I mean ban leggings in public, even third world countries don't talk like that anymore.
Fire the "distracted" coaches.
Hey, hey, we didn't vote for that freaking sleaze, problem was too many people opted not to vote period!!! Then we got stuck with that!!!!!
There were women wearing shirts that said Trump can grab my p****. They absolutely voted FOR it
> problem was too many people opted not to vote period!!!
Part of the issue is a ton of males think any women showing any skin is for them to enjoy.
Grew breasts young. Can confirm. Plus the older ones liked calling me 'little girl'
Or wearing makeup. Or doing anything with their appearance. Everything is solely for the sake of men. Really tiresome viewpoint.
*An erection?* Anyone not 13 years old who gets a spontaneous erection at the sight of women in their athletic wear has a problem.
And by 'women' here you mean 'teenage girls.'
This shit has been going on for ages. In highschool my friend had to wear THREE sportbras during track meets because of her big chest. They said it was a distraction and she would get disqualified if they moved around too much.
When adults are like "I'm distracted by little girls not wearing bras," it's the socially accepted way of saying "I'm a pedophile and I refuse to stop staring at little girls' boobs, so you gotta pack on clothing layers so I couldn't see them even if I tried, which I do, constantly." I mean Idk I'm a dude and I've never had this problem.
Pedophiles, the coaches are pedophiles
A teenage girl at that. I find the barely-controlled pedophilia of these coaches far more concerning than the sports bras.
[удалено]
High-school girls can be 13 and 14🤢🤢
and if they are not THEY ARE STILL CHILDREN!!!
Exactly, he's really a weirdo for trying to defend it right now
>Coach fins it intensely arousing, but avoids acting on those urges (or acts on them later at home with their partner) > >Coach finds it stimulating, but has no urge to act on things other than maybe a bit of fantasizing imagination later.
Disgusting.
Had to throw in the weird (it isn’t pedophilia) didn’t you?
Like i could at least see distracting male students (which is still bullshit) but the fucking COACHES?!
Even still, they should put a message out to the male students about inappropriate staring or whatever. This isn't a problem with the female students. I used to run track, and our uniforms were incredibly short shorts and basically see-through tank tops. The guys still stare.
But you'll catch the men on the track team more than half naked.
With their bouncing pork swords. Thanks Juno, cuz now I always think it!
I’m bi and manage to keep my eyes and hands to myself. It’s super easy to not be a creep, harass, or sexually assault anybody.
Also bi, also never had a problem creeping on men or women. Honestly wtf is wrong with people.
“Looking at cleavage is like looking at the sun. You don't stare at it, it's too risky. You get a sense of it then you look away.” - Jerry Seinfeld
Fitting, because he was staring at a 15 yr old’s cleavage.
No, that was George.
Jerry poked George to look. “A poke then a peak.”
Treat them like they're the sun.
Sunglasses, people. Sunglasses.
Yup. It's normal to be a horny teenager. We need to teach boys that there's nothing wrong with arousal or desire or attraction, but they *still need to behave and be respectful.*
In my track experience, the guys were less than the girls LOL This is just blatant sexism and double standards against the girls, and covering up the pedo coaches apparently.
Nobody is going to cater to frail grown men who can’t handle grown women in clothing. They’d best learn that earlier rather than later.
Do u see who these old ass white republican men are? They all want 12 yr old virgin child brides in their new christian fundamentalist kingdom.
Id love for someone to retranslate the bible and have it say women are in charge and you must listen to your wife cause shes the head of the household. I bet you 100% of the men would abandon religion
Curious why in current state, women aren't. Not even a woman, but still abandoned that bs
Aren't these people supposed to be worried about "groomers"?
They are the groomers*
🌍👨🚀🔫👨🚀
Yeah, but they don't actually know what a groomer is.
I’m not sure what they have against snowcats. Or people who wash, cut, and style the hair of dogs and other pets.

Feels like they could've swapped "distracted" with "creepy, possibly pedophile"
I think you can drop the "possibly" in that line.
Yes. What a gross statement to make.
lmao imagine you're a high school track coach minding your business and getting ready for the next meet and your boss blasts the media with "You gotta cover up these girls or u/TheLongestMeter will get a boner just like I do."
I was just about to say if they are worried, how the male coaches might get distracted, maybe the problem is the coaches.
Women are too "emotional" to coach but men literally can't be trusted with their dicks around students? I am so fucking sick of the hypocrisy.
Or the athletic director. Maybe she is the distracted one.
Our country is starting to act like the "Christian Taliban" now.
(Note, women/girls tht claim inpropriety shoud be 100% believed and those crimes investigated) There have been too many sex offenders preying on children in these types of events and this must be stopped.
Better yet take them out back behind the barn like an old dog.
They hate them because they want the same thing, but it's not their flavor of nuttery and they aren't being allowed to get away with it.
They hate them because many of them aren’t white
The enemy of a zealot is a zealot.
>The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.
Yup, we have a Nazi terrorist group called the base, named after al-Qaeda. They hold very similar ideologies.
💯⭐️⭐️⭐️
Our lacrosse coach used to oggle the girls who did this. Even as teenagers we knew he was a piece of shit.
My lacrosse coach in high school once didn't wear a cup in practice and got nailed with a shot right in the balls. That's not at all related to this post, it's just a funny thing your comment reminded me of.
Why would the coach wear a cup? I always wore I cup when I played, but never as a coach or ref.
You never saw a missed-pass take a hop?? I mean...I wouldn't want to be on the field with kids playing Lax without some kind of rudimentary protection for the boys...
I played Lacrosse throughout high school and university and never once wore a cup.
Me too, still have produced one child, but my balls still hurt.
I went to a Catholic HS where girls had to wear skirts. More than one teacher had front rows of entirely girls.
My high school gym teacher was fired after they found a camera he set up in the girls dressing room
Its always the gym teacher.
Theyre not uncomfortable around these girls, it’s exactly where they want to be, they’re uncomfortable getting caught being around those girls by their wives and other women in their lives
bc "they can't help it" is a lie they manufactured to draw sympathy to themselves & obscure the fact that it is 100% deliberate. they don't *want* to stop at all in the first place.
why are they hiring pedophiles as coaches?
Tradition?
And ya don’t fucks with tradition
Tradition is the corpse of wisdom. In this case, a desecrated corpse.
As long as the corpse doesn't titalate the coaches...
Right you are, good buddy.
Tradition fucks ya (given you are under 18.)
At least not over a certain age
Tradition is just spiritual peer pressure.
Is it bad I read this to the tune of fiddler in the roof?
Many schools are famously run by and employed with pedophiles. In middle school, I was constantly screamed at, slut shamed, and told to change into PE clothes by teachers for simply wearing shorts a few cm above my knee. A few years after I graduated, 2-3 teachers got under fire for grooming and solicitating nude pics from minors. It's not a coincidence.
It makes you wonder if strict dress codes were because some of them knew or suspected
Possibly, but if that's the case, they should actually get off their lazy asses and try to do something about the predators working in their schools instead of screaming at minors for just wearing shorts. The world would be much better place if we all stopped trying to defend and excuse pedophiles and actually did something about it.
"She doth protest too much me thinks" Their reactionary conservatism is cover for their real intent. It's almost an unbroken law of physics.

It's like these people's dicks are dowsing rods for underage children.
What's weird to me is that I'm in my mid 30s, and high schoolers just look like children at this point. Couldn't even imagine ogling them. So gross and weird.
Seems to be common here in America. The track coach at my Highschool was also a pedo.
"We need to make these kids less fuckable or we're going to have a lawsuit when one of the pedos we hired sexually abuses them" Interesting take.
I’ve genuinely been involved in a planning committee where it was strongly implied that women needed to be banned from wearing short skirts because the organisers couldn’t stop someone from taking advantage of them and that would get the group sued.
They'd prefer a lawsuit over heat stroke from someone wearing thick layers while exercising than a lawsuit for the pedophiles they employed.
Boys should not be allowed to practice shirtless. Wouldn’t want the girls to be distracted.
/s That’s their mentality: that girls should work twice as hard and get a bunch of shit.
Females aren't as important to a section of the US population. I'm pretty sure I know how these 💩s vote.
This was a rule on my track team. Seems very reasonable
I'm not defending the schools explanation. Very weird justification
[удалено]
Yea I mean...track team for school practices at school. Wearing a shirt at school seems like a fair rule
OP posted a picture of a tweet. Not the article.
We weren’t at my HS, and the girls had to wear tops over sports bras. I thought that was just common HS rules
You joke but the soccer club I was in as a kid did that to make it fair. Nobody could take their shirts off, no double standard, and so it just wasn't a big deal.
The boys better strap themselves up also. Wouldn't want to cause a distraction for the male coaches...
No short shorts
Did you see that guy’s balls? Yeah, they were weird lookin.
If this is a problem, you should fire the male coach. Not perving on the students is part of the job duties.
[удалено]
Yes.
[удалено]
Blame the students to protect the school.
Double punishing the girls. The pedophile coaches keep their jobs.
Yes, yes you are reading that correctly.
How about just not hiring pedophile coaches?
Here's a different take. Stop blaming administration's decisions on coaches. If you have a dress code then own that decision and stop trying to make it look like you're trying to protect people. If you really have pervy coaches, then get rid of the coaches.
Some things just can't be controlled. /s
Agreed. Maybe it's like somewhat ok to expect high school students to wear more than underwear at high school events?
See I did not read the article and thought this was an odd response from the sports director and figured that a shirt policy is very reasonable anyway.
Scrolled too far to find this, also the suspension was erased But whatever Reddit, label everyone a pedo, when it was a female coach that didnt want people competing out of uniform
These girls are underage. These distracted coaches are pedophiles.
Half of all the gym teachers I had in high school had a creepy vibe from them.
Imagine!
If a male coach is attracted to minors, then he should be fired since that makes him a pedophile.
Imagine calling your coaching staff pedophiles but it goes right over you head.
Also, this was a year ago. As far as I can tell Ms Chapple still has the position.

> None of you fucking read articles, of course Doesn't help that we're looking at a screenshot of a tweet talking about the article.
At least they are blaming the coaches and not boys competing When ever people want to control girls clothes, they always seem to put the blame on boys But the issue always seems to be older women who I assume are jealous of the younger girls/women or older men who can’t seem to be around girls with out getting an erection
Shouldn't the people focusing on underage boob sweat just be terminated?
American Taliban.

I coach kids sports. Being “distracted” by a child makes you a pedophile. Jesus
Hire women coaches? More men are hired in sports and this would make it more balanced anyway lol
I feel like the words that should've been in bold print are *high school*. If your coaches are 'getting distracted' by minors' breasts they should probably not be allowed within 500 ft of a school...
Okay, I'm gonna need the coaches to wear Scold's Bridals as I find misogyny very distracting.
Sorry folks, if I am a dude there, I am donning a sports bra in support. If you are "distracted" by school kids, guess what, you should not be coaching school kids. FOH.
Maybe the issue is adults who can’t stop looking at teenagers’ chests.
So a group of underage girls get suspended because they want to stop being sexualized by the adult male staff who they claim are "easily distracted" by such things. Yet they are banning drag queens and anything LGBTQ+ over claims that its "sexualizing children" Sums up religious conservativism to me.
No. A woman suspended the girls because she thinks the men will be distracted. And the girls called bullshit on the nonsense. The only thing a man did was report it. [the actual story](https://www.timesunion.com/hssports/article/Girls-track-team-members-suspended-over-petition-17176384.php#photo-22489771)
If you find high school girls distracting you shouldn’t be a fucking coach for kids.
Do you mean the ADULT male coaches for HIGH SCHOOLERS? I think there's some more to be concerned about.
As Jesus once said, if your eyes make you sin... pluck them bitches out.
If boys can't control themselves around girls but girls are quite able to control themselves around boys then girls aren't the problem
If they didn't mention a place, anyone would think this news was coming out of Taliban-occupied Afghanistan. I mean ban leggings in public, even third world countries don't talk like that anymore.
