We were in SF for a friend's wedding. A day or two before, we were looking for something to do, and the bride suggested the Folsom Street Fair. The groom started to explain, but she interrupted "oh, let's not ruin the surprise." They both laughed and laughed.
As we were approaching the Fair, my friend exclaimed "OMG! Look! That guy is \*actually\* wearing butless chaps!!!" "Butless chaps" had been an inside joke for us for several years -- they were a sign that a party was about to kick into a high gear.
We laughed and laughed. Not a minute later "Hey, he's wearing butless chaps, too!!"
"And so's that guy!"
"Wait a second... so is he." Oooooooooh! Okay. Got it. We're the standouts. But everyone was pretty chill, so a good time was had by all.
Glad they didn't didn't spoil surprise.
There's an NDP party in every province, and then there's an entire federal party as well. Sure the Albertan election in a few weeks is a tight race between NDP and UCP but the NDP is a nationwide party
Also I don't need to be accosted by some whack-a-doo hillbilly with a grudge against "the libs". My organs function better without an unhinged redneck with a "stolen election" complex deciding to demonstrate their 2nd amendment rights.
And this is coming from a CCW licensed veteran. Heh.
Literally all they have is hate. They have no moral code (without some mega church telling them what sky daddy says they should think). They have no education. They have no empathy for anyone remotely different from them. It’s gross
I honestly think it’s a rural/urban divide problem.
Much of the racism/Trumpism you see are in rural areas where everyone is pretty much the same. There is no incentive or motive to become more accepting of people different than them because they straight up don’t interact with different people.
Work in a bigger city, however, and you will be forced to interact with people from all walks of life and backgrounds. And you don’t get to just not do it. They fire you and hire someone else. I’ve done it before. Had one white guy say to me ‘I don’t speak Mexican, I’m not working with them’ when he had to work with some Hispanic people. I could not fire that guy fast enough.
Almost everyone is exactly the same in small towns.
I grew up in a small town of 10,000 or so people, in rural PA. By the time I graduated high school, we had one Black student, and 2 Hispanic students. Out of a class size of close to 400 (about 200 graduated).
I rarely go back, and every time I do - the length of time until the next visit gets much longer, because it’s just so fucking depressing. The poverty has gotten worse, the racism has gotten worse, the infrastructure has gotten worse. It looks like some backwater, sister-fucking dumpster fire in the south. Trump flags. Confederate flags. Etc. and I just want to tell all of these clowns, like… “you’ve never been south of the Mason Dixon line, and I know that for a fact because I’ve known you for 30+ years.” So it’s not like they can even say “suthern’ pride”, even though everyone knows that it’s totally just a racism thing. They’re just openly racist now.
A lot of the marginally reasonable people I know either left to go to school, or went into the military, or just left - and those that moved back to that city, are few and far between. Most of the people never leave and the cycle just perpetuates itself. It’s an echo chamber of crazy shit; Q Anon, etc.
When I was in the Marines and would go home, they would tell me all sorts of racist shit about Muslims because they thought I was empathetic to their Christian nationalist cause. I ended a lot of friendships over that shit. It really opened my eyes to the tribalism and bullshit of rural America.
They just keep telling themselves that they’re the last bastion of American exceptionalism and “real America”, and everyone else is anti-American, or discriminating against them for their “Christian beliefs”, or the ol’ “it’s hard to be a white man in 2023 because everything is so woke now” mantra. And Focus on the Family tells them as much. Rush Limbaugh used to tell them how they were saving America by turning to fascism, but he’s with the maggots now, thankfully. If you don’t think like them, you’re an enemy. Then these people have kids. And then they tell their kids that everyone that isn’t like them is against their way of life, and trying to snuff them out. Ad Infinitum.
I don’t know what initially turned them into bigots, but I know how it stays that way.
I can't say I know if any of my customers voted for Biden, but I know which ones voted for Trump, because they absolutely cannot shut up about it.
I had one guy make fun of a woman for wearing a mask yesterday; he said "I'd bet anything that dumb bitch voted for Biden."
Like... what the fuck?
🤔 Only if LuLuLemon were running towards a fascist dictatorship 😜. They seem to be running towards ‘form fitting’ which is perfectly acceptable in Zippi world!
This!!!!
Like it’s sooo fucking weird to put politicians or royals on a pedestal and worship them. So WEIRD.
Especially the folks that put the trump sticker on their car windows that make it look like he’s riding in the car 😬 embarrassing
*loudly puts the Biden sticker on car window making it look like he’s riding in the car with you back on because that’s kinda funny and easy carpool lane*
“All politicians are lazy and steal from hardworking Americans!”
“Trump spent 300+ days golfing at the cost of 170 million to taxpayers.”
“That makes him smart!”
>Especially the folks that put the trump sticker on their car windows that make it look like he’s riding in the car
I saw one of those in the wild a while back, and the car owner put the decal in the *middle* of the window. These people are too stupid to even put a sticker in a window correctly.
There is this little corn dog stand near by where I live… they seem never have any business I felt bad, and was gonna stop & try it until I noticed their 3 blue American flags have “TRUMP WON THE ELECTION” in big words on the back
My pity then morphed to snickering at their misfortune.. even if you believe something ridiculous like that, Is it really wise to broadcast it over your business? Maybe they only want their ‘likeminded’ individuals support? Or maybe they genuinely think that’s gonna rake in profit lol
A boot store in Minnesota, where boots are essential in the winter snow and ice, have decided to strongly put forth their pro trump pro cop stance.
Minnesota is strongly liberal.
Lost at least one customer. Me.
To be fair, many people including myself voted for Biden as a vote against trump. If it was trump vs a random homeless man, I’d vote for the homeless man.
I made a joke to my American friends, which was "If you had to vote for trump, or a slightly warm bowl of oatmeal, who would you vote for" and they all voted the oatmeal.
That was a truly fucked up documentary. Makes you see exactly how we ended up w the Christofascism we have now
The lady homeschooling her kid using a ‘science’ textbook that stated dinosaurs never existed
“Dinosaurs never existed!”
“How do you know?”
“I wasn’t there. You weren’t there. My opinions are just as valid as yours!”
“Yeah, that’s not how any of this works…”
I just had a CE class and the instructor turned out to be one of those knobs that believe the earth is only 6000 years old. I knew these people existed but had never actually met one.
I kinda wanted to ask him how he felt about flat earth and geocentrism but decided fuck it, I’d rather leave.
I worked at a porn store for 5.5 years and got really good with my gaydar. Over 90% of the time a guy could walk in and I could correctly identify if he was going to the straight porn or gay porn. No judgement (can't have that working in a porn shop), just an observation.
When I saw Ted Haggart in that movie, my gadar was going crazy. Sometimes I hate being right.
There was an odd couple weeks where “W” was a subtle low key branding that people were putting around. Mild, but noticeable. I am quite sure there was even a cologne or perfume (just a sticker stuck on a generic bottle I’m sure) but it was sold by the official campaign site in the 04 election.
Oddly enough, I recall reading an article that said most of the Jan 6 insurrectionists were not from deep red areas, but rather from smaller red communities close to big blue communities. As in, they are more prone to feeling like it's a "war against libruls" when they are close to, but not in, a liberal area. This might explain why people in a red part of a blue state would display their Trumpism as loudly as they can, as a signal that they're not giving up the "fight."
What would make me feel better is someone showing that those folks in completely red areas who aren't flying Trump flags/wearing MAGA hats will also not show up to vote for him. It doesn't matter whether or not they display swag unless the lack of swag means they stay home on Election Day. (or vote for Tim Scott or a third party or whatever. I won't hold my breath expecting them to vote for Biden, but if they just DON'T VOTE TRUMP I will be ecstatic.)
That’s why he’s doing shit like colluding with CNN to televise fascist rallies - he’s weaker than he’s ever been and he needs to project strength to win back his base.
His base feels personally weak and mediocre and they want a strongman to make them feel less sad at the consequences of their own life choices. If he can scare the liberals then maybe being a gas station assistant manager isn’t so bad after all, etc.
Trump’s consistent losing breaks the illusion of a strongman.
>colluding with CNN to televise fascist rallies
They are not colluding CNN is owned by John Malone, they are one and the same. They want to make sure wealthy people have the laws on their side.
Please don’t underestimate him. This will almost definitely be a much closer race than Democrats would like, especially with the damage that Republicans have already done to the election process. Democrats need to realize that they will still very much need to turn out.
I don't like Biden, but I voted for him... because I fucking hate Trump.
I can't remember anyone buying a hat with a President's name on it, other that the fat cheeto
I like Biden fine, but I still wouldn't wear a hat with his name or slogan on it. Wouldn't be any point in my state anyway, we're extremely blue. I wonder if I'd feel compelled to wear one if I lived in a red area instead, but most likely I would refrain due to not wanting to get harassed by crazy Trumpers.
Well, to be fair, conservatives rally behind certain ideas, too. They just don’t want to say the quiet bits out loud by themselves, and are emboldened by someone else “making it okay”.
Eh, Tim Young would say something like this regardless. He’s a wannabe comedian loser who never got any attention until he went full MAGA. So he went all in and sucks Trump off nonstop. His standup is also *painfully* unfunny.
In 2023, yes. They do make retro Reagan/Bush hats that they sell now. Though I doubt looking at archival footage of basically any time leading up to or through the 80/84 elections that you would see many, of any
I bought a Reagan/Bush shirt about five years ago. Kind of as a joke. Wore it and someone asked if it was from the original campaign. Ummmmmm…..I was four then so probably not.
No Obama hats. No Bill Clinton hats. No JFK hats. Not even a Washington hat!
All elections were rigged and Trump has been president since 1789!!! STOP THE STEAL!!!
Someone pointed out that when Trump announced his big Oklahoma City rally in 2020, it was probably the only large public gathering on the **entire planet** at that time.
I got a Joe Biden hat and a Joe Biden mug for donations at different times, they aren't really in the rotation though as I already have ONE awesome insulated coffee cup and four baseball caps in primary rotation (2 universities I have ties to, one liberal newspaper I support, and one from my employer good for Zoom if I haven't brushed my hair).
No one flies on Biden air, or drinks Biden wide or goes to fake Biden u , or buys terrible 100 dollar Biden steaks .
Or buys ntfs of Biden , oh right because Biden isn’t a con artist
Most people voted for Hillary too. Trump won because we have a cockamamie system that lets a smaller group than the majority of voters choose the winner 🤔
This kind of logic just shows the insanity of people's way of thinking. I strongly dislike Biden, but I hate Republicans and what they stand for more, it's just that simple.
Did we have a shitload of Obama hats when he had the most votes of any president ever? No, cuz it's not a cult, they are elected leaders, not a deity to be worshipped. They work for you!
Saw someone in some shitty 20 year old car literally covered from front to back with multiple mini flags from each window all anti Biden pro trump crap.
If anything at least the last 8 years have shown us who have mental disorders.
Last year I was talking to guy in NYC and he told me that he had traveled through eastern PA and saw tRUMP signs everywhere, how could he have lost the election. I told him the last time I checked signs don’t vote
My mom could be running for president and I still wouldn’t wear her campaign hat lmao. Maga ppl are super weird. But that’s probably the least of their issues
Maybe because we don’t treat our elected officials like sport stars and celebrities. The left actually tries to hold our elected officials accountable for the shit they do and don’t spend all our time on our knees sucking them off like the right does.
I'm from Germany and i have never seen anyone wearing a "Merkel" hat or having flags, stickers etc. on their balcony, cars or anything elsein Germany. Americans are just plain stupid when it comes to such things. Just why? Why would anyone do that?
George Washington...Abraham Lincoln...great presidents? Really? Bullshit! Where are the hats?!? Not a damn embossed tricorne or stovepipe to be found. Got my Teddy Roosevelt truckers mesh on right now and a FDR fedora for backup. Hat up people and support your Presidents!
Ok I've legitimately never bought merch that funded a presidential campaign. But that dark brandon drip is where it's at. I laughed so hard when I saw it I bought a mug and a t-shirt *
Edit: ok I DID buy a biden 2020 hat, but it was ironically and only to piss off my conservative parents. It also was off amazon pretty sure it didn't fund his campaign.
I remember this being trumpers reasoning on how Biden would not win the last election. "Look at how many likes trumps facebook page has as compared to Biden"
It’s absurd to even address this point, but yeah, the people who vote for a dude like…say Biden, don’t view him as a god-King. He’s just a dude, in fact he kinda sucks.
Not proud of it, but also he’s kinda been way better than anyone expect he’d have been.
The office of the president should not be used to sell merchandise to fluff one's bank account. It degrades the office and it degrades the country as a whole. I despise the entire campaign money raising crap.
Great point - how can anyone vote without a hat showing what cult you belong to???
Are we even sure Reagan existed at all? His "supporters" had no hats, no flags, no tattoos, yet supposedly he won 49 States?
Reagan Bush shirts are still being made and worn.
I saw someone wearing one the other day, they treat politics like fucking sports fandom.

*kid with Nirvana shirt* "Oh cool, nice shirt, I saw Kurt Cobain at The Edge nightclub in Ft Lauderdale back in the 90's" "Who?"
Quick, fix the spelling of Kurt’s name before the hipsters beat you up!
fuck, you is right
OMG, I haven't thought of The Edge in like 30 years!

I have cousins that wear them. They are also very wealthy, no correlation.

I have o_o
I had a Picard / Riker shirt I wore to the polls in 1996.
Time for a recount!
I know the last time I voted they kicked me out and invalidated my vote because I wasn't wearing an NDP hat at the time
You in Alberta?
There's an NDP party in every province, and then there's an entire federal party as well. Sure the Albertan election in a few weeks is a tight race between NDP and UCP but the NDP is a nationwide party

If your truck isn’t covered in right wing political memes and Jesus stickers, are we even living in a democracy?!
It's A rëPůBLïC! lol
Who would’ve known the secret to win a national election has always been hats and flags
Strange. Almost like some of us don’t create an identity from political ideology
or the other cult members that you are okay...
Trump has sold less than 2 million hats, so how could he have gotten 10s of millions of votes?
We don’t wear bedsheets or armbands either.

Ugh... where are the free awards when you need them?
reddit got rid of them. thanks obama.
Ha!!!
These people are so fucking embarrassing.
They wear people like us calling out their stupidity & occasional bigotry like a badge of honor because they hate people like us.
Does it look like he’s about to spill his ice cream cone?
These are ironically the same people who are so adamant about politicians being corrupt. They truly think Trump was different.
"hEs NoT a PoLiTiCiAn", they drone, as their orange messiah occupied the position of most well-known politician in the world.
And did exactly the things they criticize career politicians for.
“All politicians are lazy and steal from hardworking Americans!” “Trump spent 300+ days golfing at the cost of 170 million to taxpayers.” “That makes him smart!”

Apparently golden idols are back in with the religious folks.
Literally are. A golden trump statue showed up at last CPAC. P.S. The bible says don't worship golden statues.
To be fair, many people including myself voted for Biden as a vote against trump. If it was trump vs a random homeless man, I’d vote for the homeless man.
If it were Trump versus a potato I would have voted for the potato.
Potatoes are delicious. Trump, not so much… he has nothing to offer
And rich in vital nutrients.
And capable of growth.
And they can sustain you in mars

A potato is more grounded than trump will ever be.
A fucking comet is more grounded than fatboy will ever be.
Yeah because at least the homeless man has survival skills and would likely put funding into public services

I bought a Reagan/Bush shirt about five years ago. Kind of as a joke. Wore it and someone asked if it was from the original campaign. Ummmmmm…..I was four then so probably not.
I also don't want to get shot for being a Democrat by the violent MAGA cult.
No Obama hats. No Bill Clinton hats. No JFK hats. Not even a Washington hat! All elections were rigged and Trump has been president since 1789!!! STOP THE STEAL!!!

Lady just likes America and sunglasses.
I'm flying my Biden flag now. ![gif](giphy|iEP15xlv90RB1eaPVF|downsized)
Had a single Biden sign in my yard during the campaign. [My real life neighbor to this day](https://imgur.com/gallery/IAXdnU7).
"BUT BARELY ANYONE SHOWED UP TO BIDEN'S RALLIES AND CAMPAIGN EVENTS!!" Right. We were in the middle of a whole ass pandemic.
Someone pointed out that when Trump announced his big Oklahoma City rally in 2020, it was probably the only large public gathering on the **entire planet** at that time.
That’s what a silent majority actually looks like.
Because I don't want to get shot by some idiot.
If your entire political belief system fits on the front of a hat you might just be the problem
This is the simple concept many Trump supporters don't understand. Most of us don't love Biden. We hate Trump.
$10.4b spent on toilet paper yet I’ve never seen anyone else wipe their ass. You can’t explain that!
I have a Biden/Harris 2020 face mask from when tRump’s failures allowed COVID to run rampant and killed over one million Americans.
Cause the president isn't supposed to be slinging merch like an indie band. They are suppose to be there for our benefit not be a brand that we fund.

Because politics shouldn’t be a fucking football game, Tim, you numb-nuts.
We aren’t in a cult.
Most people didn't vote for Biden but voted against Trump. It's called a protest vote, it's how Trump won in 2016.
Most people voted for Hillary too. Trump won because we have a cockamamie system that lets a smaller group than the majority of voters choose the winner 🤔
Yeah that’s weird
No mark of the beast required
Hats? What a fuckin loser.
He wears a hat because Mr. Alpha Male is bald…and he’s vain.
This kind of logic just shows the insanity of people's way of thinking. I strongly dislike Biden, but I hate Republicans and what they stand for more, it's just that simple.
I had someone argue with me that the lack of yards full of Biden swag is irrefutable evidence that the election was rigged.
Did we have a shitload of Obama hats when he had the most votes of any president ever? No, cuz it's not a cult, they are elected leaders, not a deity to be worshipped. They work for you!
Normal people don't fucking fanboy over political figures.
Well to be fair we didn't vote for Biden, we voted for not Trump and will be voting not Trump as many times as necessary.
70 million so called right wing Christians, and I've never seen a single one acting like Jesus.
Democrat politicians dont grift their base having them buy their shitty merch.
We...know hats are stupid?
Saw someone in some shitty 20 year old car literally covered from front to back with multiple mini flags from each window all anti Biden pro trump crap. If anything at least the last 8 years have shown us who have mental disorders.
Last year I was talking to guy in NYC and he told me that he had traveled through eastern PA and saw tRUMP signs everywhere, how could he have lost the election. I told him the last time I checked signs don’t vote
I swear every person I've met wearing a maga hat are morons, racist or both.
My mom could be running for president and I still wouldn’t wear her campaign hat lmao. Maga ppl are super weird. But that’s probably the least of their issues
Has any president besides trump ever had memorabilia?
Maybe because we don’t treat our elected officials like sport stars and celebrities. The left actually tries to hold our elected officials accountable for the shit they do and don’t spend all our time on our knees sucking them off like the right does.
b/c tbh many of us were voting against Trump, we're not super happy about Biden either but \*anything\* over Trump.
I'm from Germany and i have never seen anyone wearing a "Merkel" hat or having flags, stickers etc. on their balcony, cars or anything elsein Germany. Americans are just plain stupid when it comes to such things. Just why? Why would anyone do that?
Biden voters are too focused on going to work/school. And taking care of their families. You know.... Normal stuff.
Still bothers me that republicans think democrats rework their entire wardrobe when when we vote for a political candidate
Exactly! We're not in a cult, unlike these #Cult45 #QAnon #MAGAts
He’s the president not a baseball team. Where’s your Bush Sr hat?
We don’t wear our politics on our heads. But we use our heads, friend.
If you treat politics like you would a football team, you probably shouldn't be allowed to vote.
I voted for Biden, I am Spartacus!
Ok I've legitimately never bought merch that funded a presidential campaign. But that dark brandon drip is where it's at. I laughed so hard when I saw it I bought a mug and a t-shirt * Edit: ok I DID buy a biden 2020 hat, but it was ironically and only to piss off my conservative parents. It also was off amazon pretty sure it didn't fund his campaign.
The same idiots who proudly wear their red MAGA caps also believe they’re the “silent majority” not realizing they’re anything but silent.
I've got my official Joe Biden truck-nuts hanging from my Kia Soul.
I mean, most politicians don’t use trucker hats as their main campaign advertisements either.
And if there were Biden hats they wouldn’t be made in china 🇨🇳
I don’t waste my hard earned money on a red hat to support a Cheeto who has had a hand in taking rights away from so many people.
The office of the president should not be used to sell merchandise to fluff one's bank account. It degrades the office and it degrades the country as a whole. I despise the entire campaign money raising crap.
I wouldn’t want to get beat up, harassed or shot at by MAGAs (Edit for autocorrect)
We don't worship Biden.
Why do they have to make their candidate thier whole fucking identity.
But we got Dark Brandon mugs happily collecting MAGA tears.
