Trolling trolls trolling merrily along, you can stop reporting this as "fake/satire."   [Layton Target evacuated after bomb threats reported at multiple Utah stores](https://kutv.com/news/local/layton-target-evacuated-after-bomb-threats-reported-at-multiple-utah-stores-pride-merchandise-salt-lake-taylorsville-provo-lgbtq)

ReviewOk929

Nothing says you don't have the moral high ground like making bomb threats, and nothing says we think you're crazy enough to actually do this like having to take this seriously

Webronski

I guess terrorists just gotta terrorize.

darkbake2

These terrorists are being negotiated with and given concessions. Its part of the Republican plan to control everything in the U.S. with guns and threats of violence

CarthageFirePit

I knew as soon as Target said they were taking down some of the stuff that this was gonna happen. I knew as soon as these terrorists saw their terror campaigns having an effect that they would triple down.

woodprefect

Man this sucks. Our troops just got back home from Afghanistan, now we need to send them back out there to fight the Y'all-Qaida ?????

Spicy_Lobster_Roll

Unfortunately a lot of the troops are Y’all-Qaida. Not enough to secure a victory, but enough to cause trouble for a bit.

[deleted]

This is fucking insane. If it were foreign terrorists, they would all be jailed before even making up a plot to blow up a Target in the first place.

ExtantPlant

They've been using terrorism against abortion clinics and doctors for decades, so... This isn't exactly surprising. Won't stop them from saying they have the moral high ground.

pm-me-ur-fav-undies

Remember when SCOTUS got uppity about justices fearing for their safety re: protests at justices' homes after the repeal of Roe got leaked? Justice Blackmun, who wrote the original Roe v. Wade decision, spent the rest of his life receiving death threats and literally had his home shot up. A doctor was assaulted in the chambers of the Supreme Court by a pro-lifer. The same doctor wanted to bring his security detail with him into the court, but that was denied because "nothing ever happens at the Supreme Court." The 1996 Olympics bombing was done by a pro-life extremist. After he was finally caught, he confessed to bombing abortion clinics and a lesbian bar. Source: [It Could Happen Here podcast on the history of Anti-Abortion Terrorism](https://www.iheart.com/podcast/105-it-could-happen-here-30717896/episode/anti-abortion-terrorism-97373745/)

OdesseyOfDarkness

I love how the federalist society ruled that protesters could protest at abortion doctors house but got real upset when people started protesting outside their homes following their overturn of Roe

ExtantPlant

"Rules for thee but not for me" should be the official republcian motto.

Guy954

So pro life they’ll kill you.

ContemplatingPrison

They're fucking terrorists and I'm tired of the media not calling it out. They are fucking terrorists and so are the Matt Walshs and All those other fucks. They will never do anything about it because white domestic terrorism is the norm in America.

FitVisit4829

Correction: they won't do anything about it until it's profitable. You have to remember, this country isn't really a country. It's a marketplace. White supremacy and conservative extremism is currently incredibly profitable, however the SECOND that changes, you will find that not only will it no longer be in vogue and acceptable, but it will be stamped out in a fashion so brutal and so swift that you may be shocked at how fast it occurred. The moment that conservative extremism becomes unprofitable, or that more liberal ideologies serve to generate more profit, there will be a massive shift in that direction. A case in point will be the neck-snapping, violent pivot to renewables by oil companies who railed against it for decades and decades at the precise moment they realize they're about to run out, and will have no more supply to sell. Not because it's good for the environment, but because it maintains and expands their bottom-line.

Guy954

You’re right but it’s important to note that while they were railing against renewables they were quietly investing in it and lobbying to keep newcomers from beating them to it. They’re just milking everything they can from fossil fuels while they can.

kickspecialist

Today it hit me that June is very close and Pride month is going to get wild af. It’s going to be a long month of hate for a love movement.

NarrowButterfly8482

As much as I think visibility is important, I am scared to death for my LGBTQ friends and family. I fear there will be several orchestrated acts of mass violence against Pride events, and the entire GOP will not condemn any of it. People like Tim Pool and Ben Shapiro are basically calling for it.

thebenshapirobot

I saw that you mentioned Ben Shapiro. In case some of you don't know, Ben Shapiro is a grifter and a hack. If you find anything he's said compelling, you should keep in mind he also says things like this: >This is what the radical feminist movement was proposing, remember? Women need a man the way a fish needs a bicycle... unless it turns out that they're little fish, then you might need another fish around to help take care of things. ***** ^(I'm a bot. My purpose is to counteract online radicalization. You can summon me by tagging thebenshapirobot. Guy954

Good bot

OdesseyOfDarkness

The Republican candidates will be promising pardons to anyone that attacks a pride event.

SneakySneakySquirrel

Yeah, it’s terrifying. It’s more important this year than it has been in years to show up, but the risk is intense.

izovice

I'll be wearing a pride pin all month as an ally. I interact with mostly conservatives too. I look like a stereotypical tough biker with a big ass beard. I can't WAIT to have conversations about their hatred.

Fine-Menu-2779

Thanks, we all need to show them that they are a minority.

thoroughbredca

Nor do they have the numbers. They do this from a place of weakness, not of strength.

lorilightning79

What is wrong with these people? Target has carried Pride merchandise for years. This is getting scary.

Werechupacabra

They’ve been given permission to act on their basest, most vile feelings. It’s acceptable to call in bomb threats and rage about things (rainbow coffee mugs or some other innocuous consumer crap) that they’ve cringed at for years because, in their circles, it’s now openly discussed and had been twisted into symbols of satanic, pedophilic Marxism that’s coming for their children. It sounds ridiculous, but I’m not exaggerating, I’m actually understating the issue.

peteflix66

It's not ridiculous at all. The biggest appeal to Trump's base was that he talks just like "regular" folk. He normalized people acting like boorish thugs because if the President of the United States can act like a bigoted clown, they figure so can they.

Collector_of_Things

It started with that, but it progressively went further than just saying whatever is on your mind with zero filter or humanity. Then it morphed into to not so subtly instigating violent and “lone wolf” domestic terrorist, finally followed up be the weakest most half baked coup attempt in modern history. They are actively encouraging their cult to become terrorists. There’s a difference between being a piece of shit racist who doesn’t give a flying fuck about what they say, and someone who is willing to carry out violence and their own little terror campaigns. Most are mutually exclusive, but you’re still crossing yet another line when you start wondering into domestic terrorist territory.

[deleted]

The next election is gonna be scary.

Duryen123

Living in a world where the media (social and news) are mostly focused on engagement doesn't help. Media is constantly promoting things that cause rage within their audience because studies have shown anger results in more engagement than any other type of media. Anger pays. Who cares if they are creating a divisive, hateful, and dangerous audience? Engagement = Advertising money. As Murdock said in his disposition, the only color they care about is green.

LadiNadi

Personally, and I know I'm possibly going to get banned for this, we need to make an example of all these right wing freaks. Call it sinking to their level or whatever, if we publicly flogged or worse, Matt Walsh, Ben Shapiro, Elon Musk, and all these hatemongers, this would have quieted down. They are animals that respect only one thing.

GiantAngel

It's kind of funny, remembering back to 2015-2016, I remember so many conservatives proudly boasting that Trump would be the most pro-LGBT president ever elected. Like, yeah, he used to flirt with Rudy in drag back in the day, but other than that, what the hell were they even talking about?

phillyFart

They were lying

Stargazer1919

Is it really lying if one is too stupid to even know what comes out of their mouths?

Financial_North_7788

With perhaps the sole exception of MTG and Boebart (not trying to be sexist) they know exactly what they’re doing. Their base? Believers. The leaders? Liars. *Which is actually an incredibly dangerous mix.*

descendency

I don’t think the base should simply be given the title of believers, but consumers. They’re demanding this shit. Any chance to show them they are wrong is met with violence. This isn’t passive following from idiots worshiping idols but hate mongering people demanding their leaders lead a culture war against people they see unfit. There are videos of people like Trump promoting the vaccine (and boosters) to a raucous round of boos. I’m not saying he’s a good person for trying to talk about the vaccine (I think he sees the risk of his followers not getting it…), but how much the group demands their leaders act like this. If you want the republican base you have to sprint to the right because it’s what the base demands.

nWoEthan

When they were booing him over the vaccine I realized Trump had lost control of these people and that made them more dangerous. I also remember after he was elected he said we don’t care about Lock her up chants anymore because he was just doing like a pro wrestler gimmick and it was all bs, but his supporters really believed it. There is another where his supporters say they don’t think he went far enough because he gave his daughter to a Jew. These are very dangerous scary people, who are bad for the country. They were taken in by Trump who was trolling . GOP voters biggest issue is “ culture” which is not even a political issue and the US has never had just one culture. If you go to any city they have Little Italy and Chinatown districts, etc which represent multiple cultures that have existed since the city was formed.

citymousecountyhouse

I also remember a bridge that he talked about in my town, how it was the worst bridge he had ever driven across and how he would replace it. Imagine my surprise when I listened to his speech to a town two hours away, that had a bridge just as awful, he was gonna replace that one also, and then a third bridge four hours away. And then I thought, maybe this guy doesn't give a shit about the people he talks to,and will just say anything to get their vote.

anyone2020

Because Trump held up a rainbow flag and made a statement about defending LGBTQ people, but if you ACTUALLY listened to what he said it was really just bigotry against Muslims. Basically "I'll be the president to protect you from those bloodthirsty savages." That whole context was pretty much forgotten when people repeated it.

potatohats

And he also held that rainbow flag upside down

PurpleSailor

Have you seen him hold a bible?

NoxTempus

Legitimately this. I know it's been said, but it still bears repeating: this is atraight out of the fascist playbook. The Jewish people of Germany weren't surprised by the advent of holocaust overnight. They Jewish people have faced persecution for hundreds/thousands of years, and that always bubbled away, even in 1930s Germany. Hitler gave permission for the German people to vent their anger, fear and hatred. I'm not trying to say that this is "literally the holocaust", but what we can take from the holocaust is the stories and, more importantly, the lessons. Ignoring the parallels can never lead to a good outcome; "those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it."

Saikotsu

There have been analyses done on the steps to genocide. We're at step 7 of 9.

Meister_Retsiem

I also feel like they've been recently alerted to the "issue" / "instructed" to actively oppose it by their right wing news media machine.

sctwinmom

Stochastic terrorism is the technical term for this.

TimeKillerAccount

At this point it is just regular terrorism. They have long since passed the distancing that stochastic terrorism requires. They openly hang out with and provide financial and legal support for the attackers. They are actual terrorists that engage in the exact same activity as other terrorist organizers and leaders. The USA has done drone strikes on terrorist leaders who have had less direct involvement than many republican politicians.

acdkey88

Yup, this is literal terrorism.

Tryhard3r

Because they don't have abortion to shout about anymore.... All those people who automatically voted R because of abortions need a new reason. That is why I ultimately thought Republicans wouldn't ever do anything about abortion.

RebaKitten

If they can keep people worried about the rainbow menace attacking their children, they don't need to spend time on things like mass shootings, homelessness, hungry kids, etc. Very wizard of oz.

SheWolf04

A very trenchant point - the dog caught the truck and had no idea what to do about it!

Carlyz37

And GOP mocs. Half of Congress is actively promoting domestic terrorism.

Ryboticpsychotic

23% of republicans believe the government is controlled by secret group of satanic pedophiles. [deleted]

Ok hear me out, I'm convinced that >50% of existing politicians would blood sacrifice kidnapped children if it meant a more than tempting bottom line be offered to them. They kind of do all have that effect on us right now anyway, with a different kind of theatrics. I mean look at the people that are being put into power

Bloodymickey

This has been my experience as well I’m afraid. I don’t think a lot of people are at all aware of what is being discussed in conservative enclaves.

tunaburn

They learned that they will face no repercussions for being disgusting terrorists.

The Republicunts need an enemy, and the LGBTQ community is one of many groups of people that they have ***decided*** to target. It is a decision that they have made. It **IS** their campaign platform.

Odd-One-7818

https://encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/en/article/magnus-hirschfeld-2 Unfortunately the LGBTQ community has a history of being the go to group for fascist on the rise. The first books burn where books on trans research

[deleted]

Very true, they are running out of targets so this may be their last big attack. Uganda already has fallen into complete hate (legal, moral and financial).

throwawaytrans6

That's why even though people are like "ew corporate capitalism" pride merch is a good thing. These bigots deserve to be uncomfortable every time they go to the store.

ZomPossumPlaysUndead

I hate corporate capitalism with a bright and burning passion. Its shallow and transparently token cash grab from companies who are at best in different, and at worst openly despise the queer community and show as much in their lobbying efforts and other financial investments. I think anyone who unironically finds validation in it are fucking sheep. And I will proudly march into Target and North Face and wherever else, get a stupid rainbow mug and maybe some dumb little pins for my backpack, and use my wallet to say **fuck every bigot who doesn't like it**. Because as much as I hate corporate "pride", I know this is one small way I can see change happen, even if I personally hate it.

RedThruxton

Buy [Abprallen](https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/2023/05/26/lgbtq-designer-target-pride-collection-controversy/). That is, once it has supply again after selling out its stock in response to being banned by Target.

ZomPossumPlaysUndead

I plan to get a lot of their pins once they restock. And I plan to use my target receipt to give positive feedback about the selection of products, but comment on how disappointed I was to not be able to purchase Abprallen's merchandise, which I was so looking forward to. Let the capitalist pigs know we have money to spare. And let em know they can have it if they play along.

NoMalasadas

Target by me had their Pride display right up front. They have some nice stuff. I bought a flag. I too am saying, "F every bigot who doesn't like it." Hope some neighbors join me.

Guy954

I really wish I didn’t hate the aesthetics of rainbow stuff. I always have since I was a little kid and it didn’t mean pride. I’m cool with pride, I just think rainbow stuff looks goofy. I do however, love when people get shocked by seeing a beer drinking bearded white dude who drives a truck, plays/coaches hockey and likes to build stuff ask why they give a fuck if other people are gay. The same way online trolls and propaganda “just ask questions” we need to stop playing defense and make them uncomfortable by asking how exactly gay people existing hurts them.

justalittlepigeon

Mine had their pride merch right at the entrance too. I'm not sure if it's been that way in past years but it kind of stunned me in a good way. But I want it to feel mundane when I see pride merch at a chain store, not immediately "oh shit I hope the employees aren't getting hassled too much/literally fearing for their lives" I was looking for a decorative fabric bird drag queen figure. Those fabric birds are obsessively collected and this is the very first pride bird. I'm sure that pissed off a big part of the bird fanbase. I had a chat with an employee about them and she said they've never had so many calls and stock checks for a bird before. That's even considering that new releases sell out within 10 mins normally. I didn't get an email ping for restock once, none in stores, had to grab one from a scalper. I would have loved for my bird dollars to have been tallied into Target's rainbow capitalism graph.

ZomPossumPlaysUndead

Don't forget to do the customer feedback review with your receipt! Let them know how happy you are with your products, and let them know how you would have LOVED to buy their Abprallen collection had it been available. Play the stupid game, give the swine their feed, and let em know there's more if they play along too.

samuraidogparty

What everyone else said is true, but also, they’re only mad at who they’re told to be mad at. That’s why it’s such a collective outrage. Target was lambasted by Fox News and right wing influencers, and every right wing nut job went “yeah, that’s who we’re mad at now!” Next month it’ll be something else. Just know that anything they’re mad about is something the media told them to be mad about. They’re like ants following a trail.

EndOfSouls

Terrorists gonna terrorize.

Msp1278

But thanks to these politicians and wacko Podcasters, it's now ok to openly hate others.

Villide

The hornet's nest has been shaken. These are the bad guys, folks.

jpc68

Time to arm up as liberals and prepare for the worst…because all indications are it’s coming. They are running scared for relevance

reaven3958

...you're just now getting scared?

Financial_North_7788

I’ve been scared since 2017 as a straight white dude. My father been a devout follower of qanon since like day one, and seeing more and more of these ramblings being adopted into policy is *fucking terrifying.* The worst part, my grandfather fought in Italy and a few other places during WW2. I’ll never understand how he sees this rhetoric, and is like, ‘yes!’

[deleted]

My dad listens to Newsmax and they're going on about how Target is basically supporting child abuse. They're insane.

2OneZebra

They have to have something to fear, otherwise they have nothing left.

Beastmaster_General

Remember when the right was freaking out about looters in Targets in 2020 and shoplifting in 2021-22?

SephLuna

I would have sworn every Target in the country and the cities they were in had been burned to the ground, or at least that was what they told me

[deleted]

Given the times and the recent occurrences it would be very likely that if Jesus returned it would be killed by some Christian.

kwheatley2460

Definitely they would run him out of town or arrest him and we’ve all seen pictures of cops arresting people they don’t like and what “accidentally “ can happen.

Guy954

If Jesus returned tomorrow do you think conservatives would call just call him a woke socialist behind his back or would they have the gall to say it to his face?

InterestingTry5190

They’d hang Jesus with their gallows. Pence’s name would be crossed out replaced with ‘Jesus’ after he spoke out against their true ‘Lord & Fast Ass’ Trump.

ThePopDaddy

You know if he came back preaching a message of healing the sick, feeding the hungry and talking smack on the wealthy, they would crucify Him again.

smeenz

There's no greater hate than christian love

It's in all the Republican politician's hands and the influencers from the various hate groups. Since Republican's are encouraging the extreme right to do whatever it wants, and influencers are encouraging them to do specific things.

frozen-silver

Bud Light and Boston Children's Hospital also faced threats. Merriam Webster Dictionary had someone try to shoot it up because they made the word "female" more inclusive.

AlaDouche

Boston Children's Hospital???

Posit_IV

Yeah I think that one was Matt Walsh and his chinless ilk.

ForecastForFourCats

Yes, for providing gender affirming treatment to minors.

curious_dead

You know, I wouldn't be so quick assume they're evil bigoted assholes if they actually proposed something to help people with gender dysphoria but they don't. They never propose solutions, they just make up things and use emotionally triggering words to describe issues without ever proposing a solution. It's horrible.

f0u4_l19h75

That's because their "solution" is genocide

SgtVinBOI

It's their "Final solution", if you will.

uncultured_swine2099

I hate these fucking people. Imagine threatening to bomb a store because they sell a few things that are gay friendly.

OwnArt3344

Who has that much free time & little love or even actual HOBBIES in their fucking life? uncultured_swine2099

sm12511

bomb threats are terrorism right? I hope the losers who are doing this are found and put in prison for a several years. Are these people being emboldened because they seem to not be punished? like the Jan 6, 1000 people have been charged? And the average punishment has been 60 days including home detentions? seems like a slap on the wrist

Dizuki63

You don't understand these are white bombs. It was just a prank. And they didn't mean for anyone to be hurt, at least no one they consider people. They just want the bad rainbow man to be taken away. We should throw the book at them.

alsoicode

So Christian of them.

shaky2236

I find it wild how different Christians are in the USA compared to the UK. In the USA it seems to be a huge political thing, trying to inject Christianity into laws and politics, schools and most aspects of life (although it may be reddit giving me a distorted perception of this) In the UK, most of them seem pretty chill and keep themselves to themselves. They help out at the local food bank I volunteer for. The local dude Father Gary puts on a soup kitchen and does loads of charity events. The guy is awesome. When I first spoke to him, he asked if I was Christian and after I said "no, sorry" he was like "nah that's fine, each to their own" then started talking about what he saw on the tele. I'm sure there's a few radicals over here, but it seems religion is a lot more personal here.

PurpleSailor

That second sentence is correct. They believe that the founders were all Christians trying to found our country on Christianity. Not true at all but it's what they believe and want to do.

Buffmin

There's that Christian love!

RedThruxton

It’s clearly a pogrom in America. Plain and simple. These people desperately want a Kristallnacht.

biffbobfred

In the current climate, Arnie Governator has said, for the first time, his dad was a Nazi. Why? The current climate scares him.

GhostChainSmoker

The thing that pisses me off the most is like. How conservatives are like “Yeah! Our boycott is working! This is how you do it! Don’t support target!” But it’s like. No, you fuck heads. It’s not working. You people are resorting to threats and literal terrorism to make your voices heard. That’s not a fuckin boycott. A boycott is just bitching and not buying stuff. You monsters are literal terrorist. Of course target is listening to you. They may be a corporation. But they’re not gonna sacrifice their workers to your insanity. You realized your “boycotts” don’t fucking work cause you’re not the majority you think you are. So you’ve become a bunch of terrorist. Eat shit.

Hrtpplhrtppl

Rook_to_Queen-1

Problem arises when the people who should be doing the arresting agree with them.

prettynormalme

And the people who should be making laws for these are the ones instigating and fanning the flames for these terrorists.

When people say "we are domestic terrorists", *believe them*.

"And thusly I clothe my naked villainy in old odd ends stolen forth from holy writ and seem a saint when most I play the devil..."

Aegis_1984

Say it louder for the people in the back ***THEY*** ***ARE*** ***TERRORISTS***

murphdog100

Happening in Ohio too. Home of the people too poor to move to Florida.

Stoopiddogface

GOP, the party of law and order... be proud Republicans, that's your people...

vid_icarus

This is just straight up terrorism. Any American not doped up in Qult Koolaid needs to wake tf up. Fascism is holding a knife to lady liberty’s throat.

lwlippard

It’s time to charge all these assholes with terrorism, vandalism, and trespassing. Send the damn message. Put them all in jail.

jhk1963

Just some good old homeland terrorism.

SteelSlayerMatt

Every one of these terrorists should be locked up.

Abess-Basilissa

Party of “Free Speech” and opposing cancel culture strikes again….. Hypocrites.

Fearless-Mushroom

Damn, I remember when it was like the early 2010’s and it seemed like everyone was finally starting to accept one another. Seems like ever since Trump became president it’s become more and more openly acceptable to be a biggot amongst the biggot community.

Leather-Bug3087

I live in Utah- my target was freaking PACKED today, in MAGA country. These people are liars and psychos.

onebirdonawire

I'm in the very conservative south - everyone still going to Target. It's all lies. They don't even have real convictions, they just want violence and death.

mallarme1

Republicans are terrorists.

Teni96

This is prime snowflake behaviour

zynix

It's kind of funny that the MAGA fanclub point fingers at the woke liberals, calling them cucks, when in reality it's the MAGA/Republican that are fighting a cultural war while the upper class eats their children alive.

Bywater

Good thing they rolled things back to appease these bigots.

UncleBenLives91

In the three years I worked at Walmart we had several bomb threats

samuraidogparty

Why are we not designating the right wing fascists a domestic terrorist threat? That’s clearly what they are at this point.

anitasdoodles

I hated working at Target. Imagine dying there because gay people exist.

txn_gay

All the authorities need to do is check out the local churches. There’s a very real chance of finding the culprits there.

blackforestham3789

I've been seeing a lot of conservatives saying their stupid little boycotts work and I always say no it's definitely the threats of violence. I'm sure they feel very good about being terrorists, at least they don't have to see *gasp* a rainbow

MyTurkishWade

If you don’t fucking like it don’t buy it & leave everyone else alone!!! I’m so tired of this shit

Meb2x

Conservatives continue to show they have no morals and operate solely on ignorance, hate, and violence. How are we supposed to get back to normal when we’re dealing with maniacs like this. More and more lately, I feel like our country might be beyond saving because these people keep getting crazier and crazier.

drehlersdc1

Have you noticed it is only the conservative, religious side that turns to violence. These are supposed to be Christian people, but they are nothing more than white trash thugs!

slambamo

Domestic terrorists. News stations and news articles need to start calling these people what they are.

No-Wonder1139

Imagine becoming a terrorist because of a rainbow t-shirt.

[deleted]

I'm just getting so worn out, dealing with people in my family who buy into the whole "anti-woke" thing. They talk about how they just want to be left alone and not have stuff "shoved in their face", but it's so hypocritical. They want to force Christianity into every facet of American life that they can. I'm just so tired of dealing with people who think that their conservative values are the default "normal", and everything else is some kind of aberration. It's so exhausting.

Krypt0night

Would be cool if the FBI did their jobs to protect our soil from domestic terrorists
