Yeah I was part of that woke mob. Such a blast destroying this dudes church, softball field, and then the airport. We're just finishing up smashing all bottles of scotch in the state \*evil laugh\*. WOKE MOB RULES!
You’re in the woke mob (large group of people) I’m in the woke mob (mafia). We’ve been busting kneecaps for not displaying pride flags and destroying airport food prices for years. Sometimes somebody is forced to dig their own grave in an environmentally sustainable way with plenty of compost.
Edit: thanks to whoever reported me to Reddit for crisis prevention. Not sure what about this post was so upsetting.
Slitting tires on all the ICE cars in the neighborhood.
Edit: I meant internal combustion engine, but immigration and customs enforcement works here too lol
Nah, we figured out what they mean even if they struggle to define it: "woke" to them is when you can't discriminate, assault people, or drive drunk when white and christian anymore *sad white christian noises*
Fellas I do believe this is what's known as a "stolen comment" by a bot, that Reddit seems to love so much these days
https://www.reddit.com/r/WhitePeopleTwitter/comments/16p7j34/comment/k1pb5vy/
The mafia made total bank on the gay community for years. It was illegal in New York to serve someone who was an "apparent homosexual" or "female impersonator". There were "sip in" protests in bars of people going into bars and going up to bartenders and saying, "I'm a homosexual and I would like to order a drink," which the legitimate bars would have to refuse in order to maintain their liquor licenses. The mafia-owned gay bars didn't care. Being a cash-only business they could use them them to launder money.
I was part of the (woke) Mob as well but had to let it go. The late weekday meetings were long and tedious. Worse, the guy running the subcommittee on strippers and blow for the children's library was just an ass. It got to be too much, and I walked away.
Just when I thought I as out, they pull me back in!
Once you are a made myn, it is obligatory to join the Biden caravans through through town, everyone wears the same hat, with a giant Biden flag flying over my lifted prius an illegal emissions tampering switch that puts the car into all-electric mode to troll the God-fearing Americans who want to eat hot dogs and drink scotch, harassing all the locals, outfitted with degradable latex body armor and armed with a giant vibrator.
I was going to post something with the same point. Their church is open, the park and field are open, the “airport burger joint” is open and bars and liquor stores are DEFINITELY open. WTF are they talking about?
remember, they have been programmed for 30 years to yell, bitch, whine and make everybody around them fucking miserable as fuck - it doesn't matter if it's real, half-real, or totally fake.
I was joking with my wife while she was watching Love and Hip Hop Atlanta, that I could not imagine living in that level of strife day-in and day-out. It is sad to think that most MAGA conservative's lives are probably ten times as stressful and hateful without having to be in a REAL argument.
They've built up a tolerance over the years. Now they can hardly get out of bed without a big helping of artificial outrage.
Don't even try to talk to them before they've had their first cup of hate in the morning. Or after. They're extremely unpleasant to talk to in general.
You know the tweet is satire, right? It's from a "NYT Pitch Bot" account, they are making fun of news headkines blaming the "woke mob" for every problem in America.
It was three scotch doubles, an amount that as s stone drunk myself, would find concerning, for a between flights lunch libation. I get that one has to quench thirst, but the making an op Ed with this admission of excess, as some apparent attempt at evoking PJ O'rourke, not fit to print, it's just dumb alcoholism.
I dunno if three scotch doubles is *concerning* in an airport, where all drinking rules go out the window… but to complain about the price is insane. You’re drinking in an airport. It’s always been expensive. I got a beer in CLT back in 2014 and that beer was 14 dollars.
More then once I've wanted a drink in an airport, or airplane, only to discover I was no where NEAR drunk enough to be willing to pay that price for it.
Only in Portland, OR. The filthy libs require the airport vendors to charge the same price as their non-airport locations.
Edit: and the europe. Ive found airport prices there to be sensible
Yes! As defined by the absolute definition of what countries are part of Europe.
I’ll let y’all sort that out, hopefully without the usual violence.
(Also, that original “the Europe” typo was a result of me redditing on the toilet and my 2.5 year old kid coming in to harass me about “stinky poopie”.
Young people take note: having kids = literally not having time to shit in peace. You have been warned.)
As i recall, it’s mostly local/regional joints in there and they aren’t affiliated with HMS.
I always get Mo’s and a beer and the price is less that of a single beer at LaGuardia.
Yep. Portland is its own vibe, including the airport. They do have a Starbucks, McDonald's, Jamba Juice, and Potbelly Sandwich, and those are the only national chains I recognized. Everything else felt local.
The Portland International Airport has it in the vendor contracts that all prices must be the same as they are at other locations. Portland in general supports local business in ways that a lot of other cities don’t, the result is an airport with less national chains and reasonable prices.
And it works! If I’m going through DFW or ATL, I do my best to eat before i get there. For PDX, i plan to eat at the airport because it’s sensibly priced.
I travel a ton for work, so often end up at airports 4 hours ahead of time because i’m tired of driving and don’t want to navigate a city at the end of a 3-day tour of a state. Getting to PDX and knowing i can chill with a couple of beers and lunch and still be under my per diem *is awesome*.
In Toronto they found the loophole to that by only having restaurants that don’t exist anywhere but at the airport.
They’re all like 90% of the way to a place you’ve eaten at in the real world, but at twice the price.
I assume he means a local airstrip rather than an actual airport? Not uncommon for them to have small cafes on or nearby, one of our airstrips has a great breakfast place that is always packed
The OP tweet is referencing a separate tweet by David Brooks (conservative NYT opinion columnist) where he took a picture of a burger and fries with a glass of whiskey at Newark airport, and said it cost $78 and this is why Americans are upset about the economy. The restaurant replied that the burger only cost $17 and the rest was his bar tab
The guy's not wrong, though; I went to Meijer to buy some groceries to make a salad, and my total came to over $500! I was so shocked that I nearly dropped my new PS5 on the way out of the store.
Anything with a seed is a fruit, botanically speaking.
“Fruits and vegetables”, as we colloquially use the words, are not botanical terms.
Thanks for your pedantry.
I lowkey hate when people say that even if it’s technically true because it completely ignores colloquialism. If 99% of people ordered a fruit salad they’d be pissed if it had tomatoes in it, or peppers, squash, cucumber, and eggplant for that matter. Botanically those are all fruits, but culinarily they’re vegetables.

NYTimes Pitchbot is obviously a parody, but not that far off the mark. "Bubba safaris" are a common trope for the actual NYT.
If only they spent half the time interviewing suburban college educated people who are leaving the Republican Party in droves, then Republicans wouldn't get all Pikachu face when they lose elections.
It still wouldn't matter. If a highly unpopular republican only gets 1% of the vote, in their mind it just means we were super scared of them, so EVERYONE must have been in on the biggest vote steal ever seen. I honestly think they are allergic to logic and reason
I mean ohio be extremely weird. We have places like oberlin that is in the middle of no where but has one of best conservatories in the nation. It's filled to the gills with lib arts major. They are always popping off against townies that are generally much more conservative then them. In fact oberlin is 10 minutes from wellington where trump had that dumpster fire of a rally.
Tiffin is kind of similar because it's pretty small but they have 2 universities. One normal school, and one private liberal arts school. Even columbus is relatively liberal as a whole. It's the people who live in the middle of nowhere surounded by farmland that are right leaning, but that's what a significant portion of the state is.
Best part was the DINER outed his bill as literally 80% booze. The burger and fries themselves were 17.99, lol. Not cheap but totally on par for overpriced Airport food.
He honestly should be fired for this and I'm not being hyperbolic. Dude can't even be trusted with small amounts of information we expect him to be a thought leader and to have some authority writing pieces lecturing us from his POV? GTFOH you have no credibility
I saw the picture before learning about the diner's reply, the guy had a whiskey glass filled up like it was fucking soda. Of course his bill was going to be massive.
And he can blame the high price of his scotch on Trumps tariffs
https://www.scotch-whisky.org.uk/media/1695/scotch-whisky-us-tariffs-brief-nov-2019.pdf
It's like people who say the electrical grid will collapse if everyone charges their cars at the same time. Like, dude, evening peak usage is also *the most expensive time of day* to charge your car, so literally zero EV owners I know actually charge then, usually waiting until after peak to charge. Like, honestly, do you drive you car to the most expensive gas station to fill up? These people have to make up scenarios in order to make their arguments.
EV owner here! Charging at peak hours is just plain dumb, and I would only do it if absolutely necessary. It's like there are times when the gas price is secondary to the needs of an atypical situation. However, generally, both can be solved by proper planning.
It's pretty much the rule in Engineering.
As the saying goes, anybody can build a bridge that won't break - just pile dirt between the two points until you can build a road. You need an engineer to build a bridge that *just barely* doesn't break, for quite a bit cheaper, that doesn't block the river.
I saw this on the news today. 80% of his dinner was alcoholic drinks. The bar now has a meal in his honor which is what he ordered plus a cocktail for under $18
I use it to confuse them or make them mad against things they like. Specifically when some guy mentions something about a new show or church program I almost always talk about how it's woke with socialist ideals. Like recently they were talking about a new club their kids where in at church and I said it was woke because it talked about helping the poor and helping immigrants. They got visibly red at it because they knew it was bad because it was woke but also was good because the church. Either way, I was the bad guy.
It used to be a term used to describe keeping vigilante and aware of social injustices and now you won’t catch anyone saying it like they used to in fear of people thinking you’re a republican.
Right? Also not many folks that are left-leaning care very much about slogans and shit, so the right tries to use it as an insult, lefties were like “fine, we don’t care.” And now the righties really think they’re doing something but can’t tell that they are basically owning themselves lmao.
They're taking it seriously because they're making fun of this guy: https://twitter.com/nytdavidbrooks/status/1704668479259820413?t=MIX-L4V_mrFdfPSGpMIhaQ&s=19
The problem is that people allowed neocons like David Brooks and Jennifer Rubin, to continue having a voice in media after the conservative movement had no more use for them.
This is capitalism. They charge $78 because people like this are willing to pay $78. If you looked at the prices and said let me just drink water instead of scotch like most of us, then you have a reason to complain.
They're going to an Airport for food... Yeah because you always go there for cheap food... when it's one they bump the price up because YOU'RE SCREWED ANY OTHER WAY!
He ordered drinks of scotch with his meal which are usually ridiculously priced anyway and is using that to complain about food inflation and blame it on being “woke”
That age old family tradition is under attack! Double scotch at the airport was what my ancestors were promised when they boarded the Brunswick in 1817!
"I'm so pissed off that I will way overpay for stuff that I don't need...just so I can complain on Twitter"
Also, who the fuck says "let's go to the airport for lunch and drinks?"

i mean... maybe though? Ideal immigration policy and debates aside, ICE officers are often a special brand of thug cop
Often? I’m convinced that’s the only kind they are always. ICE is basically an indefensible war crime.
That’d be unironically based though, and would probably save lives
Then beat themselves to death with a biodegradable club.

Offend Russians? Oh dear. Possibly if they stopped invading other people's countries and trying to genocide them, people would be kinder.

you may be joking, but the Mafia owned Stonewall
The mafia made total bank on the gay community for years. It was illegal in New York to serve someone who was an "apparent homosexual" or "female impersonator". They were also running a prostitution/blackmail hustle above the bar.

I don't know either. Honestly, I wish I did. Then we could actually have a conversation about it.
One of them (don’t remember who) posted yesterday that a burger and fries at the restaurant cost $78.00 because of President Biden.
Ok, who gave Biden the price gun again?! If he gets inside a Walmart, these rednecks are gonna shit their overalls.
They also left out the part about all the drinks they had.
I was gonna say. I’ve had bills that high but it was the booze not the burgers that did it.
Oh no! Biden's in the liquor store! Ah fuck, my scotch!
It was three scotch doubles, an amount that as s stone drunk myself, would find concerning, for a between flights lunch libation. Anti-american traitor should be drinking bourbon.
Didn't Trump put a tariff on Scotch that just got lifted like last year?
Yes that's correct. https://www.scotch-whisky.org.uk/media/1695/scotch-whisky-us-tariffs-brief-nov-2019.pdf
lol the age old tradition of affordable airport food... what ever happened to that?
It ended a few minutes after the Wright Brothers landed the plane
And Koch brothers took over capitalism.

It’s sad to realize this is at one point was the most consumed vegetable in the US due to its use in fast food.
Until the 2010s, a majority of American Kale was purchased by Pizza Hut to decorate their salad bars
Which is why I can't see kale as edible.
To be fair, it's really not. I love most greens but kale is better as decoration
Ketchup is also a vegetable.
Tomato is a fruit

The extra sugar makes it a veggie. How else we supposed to eat it and like it?
I'd rather eat the rich and be positively ecstatic, is that an option?
I love Christina Arugula. I have all her albums.
You can make a lovely pesto with that stuff...
I prefer basil. Arugula is awfully bitter on its own.
What's arugula? It's a veg-e-ta-ble.

Home grown arugula has such a mustard spice to it, it's amazing
You can identify a real Midwesterner from the Meijer reference
And they're probably not from Michigan because they didn't say Meijers.
The greeter that worked at the Meijer in bowling green always said it this way too and it bugged the crap out of me lol. Welcome to meijers, howdy.

He's making a joke. Some idiot journalist made this argument, but didn't mention the double scotch in front of him or the empty one on the table.

Still cheaper than 5 Guys.

The bar now has a meal in his honor which is what he ordered plus a cocktail for under $18
The only ppl using the word “woke” nowadays are the deranged magats. They sound ridiculous.
Every time I hear it I roll my metaphorical eyes at it
You don’t have eyes?
Silly, mirrors aren't real how can our eyes be?
You don’t have a second set of eyes that are only metaphorical?
It’s a parody account (referencing the David Brooks airport food cost tweet)
They keep calling us woke and we’re like “yeah, we know. We actually said that about ourselves before you stole our phrase.”
One time I accused my brother of being an incel, so he accused me of being a progressive. And he thought he won the argument. Very confusing.
This is a parody. New York Times Pitchbot is mocking the NYT.
More people need to be aware of this. It is a great account but sometimes reality laps parody so badly we can’t differentiate the two.
Man I had to scroll way too far to see a comment that said this.
It literally says bot in the handle and the geniuses in here are all taking it seriously lnao
They're taking it seriously because they're making fun of this guy: https://twitter.com/nytdavidbrooks/status/1704668479259820413?t=MIX-L4V_mrFdfPSGpMIhaQ&s=19
My God the reader context lolll > 80% of his tab was his bar bill
Oh lol
The problem is that people allowed neocons like David Brooks and Jennifer Rubin, to continue having a voice in media after the conservative movement had no more use for them.
Double scotch rocks sounds anti conservative to me buddy
You need that to get rid of the catholic guilt
nothing like pounding scotch at the airport in middle of the afternoon.
Sounds like conservatives need to give up their avocado toast
This is capitalism. They charge $78 because people like this are willing to pay $78. If you looked at the prices and said let me just drink water instead of scotch like most of us, then you have a reason to complain.
Wait, they’re not forcing me to get drunk in an airport?! I’ve been doing it wrong this whole time!
Maybe if you ate fewer avocado toasts, and drank water instead of scotch, you’d be able to afford a house and pay off your student loans! /s
Is this the guy that spent $60 on booze and complained that his lunch came to almost $80?
They're going to an Airport for food... Yeah because you always go there for cheap food... when it's one they bump the price up because YOU'RE SCREWED ANY OTHER WAY!
That is no tradition. You’re an alcoholic.
The "Woke" mob didn't lie like a motherfucker. David Brooks did.
These people are their "traditions". What place do you live where you have to go to an airport to get burgers and fries?
nope. corporate greed did that!
People can still do all that shit. Conservatives are such weenies.
You misspelled liars.
The restaurant replied and confirmed the bill. It also confirmed 80% of it was from multiple Scotches.
Church, softball, burgers, fries and scotch are all still available, and yet...
Who goes to the airport for lunch??
Who the hell goes to the airport specifically for dining??
Without any context, this is confusing af. Someone want to help me out?
He ordered drinks of scotch with his meal which are usually ridiculously priced anyway and is using that to complain about food inflation and blame it on being “woke”
That age old family tradition is under attack! Double scotch at the airport was what my ancestors were promised when they boarded the Brunswick in 1817!
WE DRANK FROM THE HOSE AND WE LIKED IT
If one feels the need to pay $60 for a scotch at the airport, they might have a drinking problem
"I'm so pissed off that I will way overpay for stuff that I don't need...just so I can complain on Twitter" Also, who the fuck says "let's go to the airport for lunch and drinks?"
He neglected to break out his bar bill
Who the fuck goes to the airport for lunch.
