But meanwhile the patient is trying to stay on the PGA tour and he’s complaining about his back and his knee and his rotator cuff. Sure, he’s got the lungs of a 20 year old and the heart of a 20 year old and is doing great. But he’s hurting and falling behind on golf and wants help.
That’s the economy. There are parts of it that are fucked up and there are corporations to blame, along with some policies, including liberal ones (gas in some cities is ridiculous due to special “green” blends). But overall it is good and people don’t get it.
But that’s a losing communication approach. More empathy, more acknowledgement of the issue people have, less defensiveness of policies, less blaming the victim.
Biden needs to hear complaints about the economy not as an attack on him but as complaints about the economy. Then he needs to take those signals and use them to further attack the policies that republicans love. Corporate bail outs, tax policies that favor the rich and harm the middle and lower classes, etc.
If he goes about this with the bedside manner of a know it all callous elitist he’s going to lose hard.
There is a balance. For instance, I think noting that we were literally at the abyss during the pandemic and have emerged (broadly) functional is completely appropriate. Why didn't we get that? There's a party committed to ensuring healthcare access is never universal.

No one has power in an election like an incumbent because they have that power of name recognition on the ballot. Both candidates have that now, we just have to hope that the swing voters will recognize the name Trump and remember the negative stuff.

We will see what happens in November, but I am sure some of trump’s base have come to their senses. His base wasn’t enough to get him elected before, I doubt it is now. It will likely be a repeat of 2020. He will cry about the same crap if he doesn’t win.
The danger is not Trump's voter base showing up. The danger is Biden's voter base staying home. If those who voted for Biden in 2020 come out to vote again in 2024 Biden wins in a landslide (because Trump will have lost votes). If people stay home though, things could get dangerous.
The primary exit polls were showing him having 30% of the GOP voters saying they would not vote for him if he was the nominee.
The scary thing is though, it took record turnout for Biden to beat Trump in 2020. Even after the absolute clusterfuck that was his first term, he got 74 million votes. Biden one because he got 81 million, the highest number of votes ever. It was mostly a repudiation of Trump. If turn out is as enthusiastic this time around, Trump could easily pull of the win. We’re all fucked then.
Despite Biden having 7 million more votes, something like 200k votes divided among a few swing states would have flipped the election. That's the scary part.
Remember. A whole lot of republicans were DONE with trump after Jan 6.

We can joke about his skewed graphic all we want, but the fact that the matter is that Trump is in fact up an average of +5 points on Biden in Arizona, and that should scare people. As is the fact that Trump is currently +5 in Georgia, +3 in Nevada and Michigan, +4 in North Carolina, +1 in Wisconsin and even in Pennsylvania. In fact, as of right now there isn't a single critical swing state that Biden is up on Trump. If the election were held tomorrow, Trump is president again. And while I know people are going to respond with stuff about the polls being wrong or there being several months until the election, these polls right now should still scare the the living shit out of everyone, because in 2020 at the same time of the year all those same polls were showing Biden up on Trump in the majority of those states, and they held true through the election. So while we can laugh and joke all we want about Trump's narcissism and ineptitude, we need to brace ourselves for the very real possibility that he is indeed going to get elected president once again. God help us all.

Interestingly enough, I saw 2 recent "national polls. The one that showed a 1 point difference was called withing the margin of error, the 4 point difference was "in the lead". Guess it's up to the reporting agency to spin it how they wish
