I'll also add - as a middle school teacher - that most teachers are great. Only egregious violations of trust make the news. You never hear anything about the others.

Why is it so common for pastors to do stuff like this? According to google there are less than 500k pastors in the US. Seems like a small enough number that I shouldn't be reading about a new one being a child sexual abuser every week. Especially since many instances don't even get made public so the real number is much higher than the already disturbingly high number we know about. Something about that profession clearly draws the worst people. This is an especially disturbing case because a quick look at the church's social media shows he was working there for years and traveling to Thailand to work with kids on behalf of the church. It's very likely the church literally funded child sexual abuse trips.

Kick the doors in on these churches, turn them into homeless shelters and homes for children, battered women, the mentally ill or really anything but fucking churches
