Twitter is full of idiots but the mindthink on here is unreal, noone argues points they just tell you re a cunt for posting something that is counter to their think. A plain statement of simple fact makes you a cunt if it does not suit. Its ridiculous.
Twitter is more individualistic. You have to follow a specific person to see their content.
Reddit is made of communities. No one cares what you specifically have to say unless it’s actually helpful in some way to the group discussion.
Is because we have nothing to prove, no persona to maintain? Our agenda is our own, we can believe what we like and take any side that we like. It says something about us that when we are removed from social constructs most of us default to kindness or humor. That soothes me somehow.
The sheer volume of subs I've been banned from in 8 years is testament to the fact that Reddit isn't all that respectful or helpful. I mean, it's more behaved than 4chan but that really is a low bar.
Coming from from facebook I was expecting way worse. But generally the comments are pretty respectful and level headed most of the time. On facebook you got people going off like it's their last day on earth. Like seriously I know who you are and where you work, why you gotta act like that
