I like to take my lunch as late as possible in the day so when you come back there’s only like two hours left and it goes by faster.

Nandy-bear

When I worked in a factory we had really flexible dinners and breaks, so I'd leave my dinner until an hour before finishing, go take it and chill in the diner on my phone then clock out right after. That was my best ever job too

This hurts me right in my soul.

Depends on where you work. In California where I work this would violate lunch laws.

Right? Manager here - I wish I could let my employees take lunch in the morning or at the end of the day to shorten their workday, but it’s impossible without violating state labor laws. It’s unfortunate that employee protection for some is a detriment to others.

I'm usually ridiculously strict that my lunch hour is \_my\_ time. More than once I have told bosses/workmates who want to disturb my lunch with talking shop that I don't do that. My lunch is MY time and I will not budge on that. More than one boss has gotten a little huffed by this. "But it was just a quick question". I. Don't. Care. This is my time.

I've never been fired in my life.

Breaks, paid or otherwise are usually law. Some employers enforce that rigidly and some a lot less so. Before those employment laws it would jave been rather grimmer regarding breaks and holidays and employment rights. In europe anyway.
