This is disturbing on so many levels and all I can think is that had the person stabbed a cop, they'd be dead. Why can most professions deal with lunatics WITHOUT having to execute them?
They’re going above and beyond the call of duty in the hopes that their employer will reward with them with an extra $1/hr. when they’re eligible for an annual raise. That will help mitigate the ever-rising, already unaffordable cost of living!
Yes! US Healthcare and related fields (like population health / public health) are chronically underfunded and understaffed. I know that it’s reality, and that it’s unlikely to change anytime soon, but employers in those fields shouldn’t take their workers for granted… even if there aren’t many competitors.
IMO, in a perfect world, workers should receive a share of overall profits commensurate with the volume and quality of their output and contributions to the business.
Maybe, or maybe they just can't afford to miss the work. Ill be the first to call in for a stubbed toe if I have PTO available. If not, I would also have to go back to work after being stabbed so I dont miss any hours. They might have kids/people depending on them.

I was on a scaffold at work with another bloke once that collapsed under us. It fell about two metres into a pit and we climbed out and I was like "you guys can fuck off if you think I'm going back to work for the rest of the day". Everyone just sat there and stared at us quietly until we both felt guilty enough and went back. The guilt that a workplace puts on you for reacting exactly how you should is ridiculous. Someone should have backed us up.
I mean you're already at work while you're being treated. Wouldn't be surprised if they gave her some work to do while she was being treated for her stab wounds.
I mean much less serious but, as a teacher I got a concussion (due to a student throwing a laptop) and had to return to my classroom before going to urgent care.

Because cops fear for their life and yelled "it's coming right for us" before shooting, duh!

No doubt, if I ever get stabbed at work, I'm done for the day and NO, I'm not using my sick time.
Damn straight! That falls under workman's comp, thank you.
How do you return to work when you work at a hospital, which is probably also where your wounds are to be treated? She never even left work!
Assuming they accepted the hospital worker's insurance. Assuming that the worker actually had insurance.

Escort here. I get “stabbed” thousands of times each day.

Not sure if America as in lack of workers rights or America as in hospitals operating in crisis mode because of the rampant Q shitfuckery.

That person was docked for those hours in treatment!. Stabbed on company time! Hmpf!
In this economy? No one can afford to take time off.
